Thank you for your amazing story! I loved how you captured the pain he must have gone through and how badly Kagome wanted to heal him. I would LOVE to see a sequel.

Wow. You are an absolutely fantastic author. The description is very well done and the build up was great. This was such a hot lemon to read and I hope to read more of your work in the future. Keep up the great work!

    Hello again all!
First off - Whimsy - I wish you had left your e-mail addy! I'd love to discuss Japanese culture more with you and maybe learn a few things. I had not heard about the districts changing the age of consent. You've piqued my interest.

Second, yes, I spilled le beans. ^^;; I really didn't mean to, but yes, I have written other fics. But let me be clear: they are for a different *fandom*, not just on a different site. They are Sailor Moon related, and I haven't published anything in a couple of years. (And I don't mean this to sound conceited, but the chances are that if you're in the Sailor Moon fandom, you've probably already read my fics - ghastly as I now deem them to be. >_< I am part of the 'Old Guard', so to speak. I was scheming with Alicia Blade, Lilac Summers, Eternal Angel, and Stefanie Craig if that gives you an idea.) Needless to say, my style has changed/grown since then, so if you were to track my past down, you'd be disappointed. But I will be writing lots more IY, so I hope you all will continue to watch for my future work. ^_~

I will be creating a website eventually, but first I need to finish creating this fan art thing I'm working on for the index page. I'll post the link in my bio when it's up. ^_^ Thank you all for your support and wonderful insights into how to make the story better. I will address the issues you mentioned in the sequel.

Beautiful story. Great lemon scenes and a believable plot. This is why I keep digging through hundreds of Inuyasha fanfics -- to find gems such as this one.
I hope you will publish more stories, and I'm certain many other readers feel the same.

I like your story. I really did. But then again Im a big time romantic that happens to like to see the two of them get together. FINALLY! Shame they cant seem to tell each other " I Love You" aloud tho sometimes. Now then, anymore chapters coming???

Im going to be crude and say this in the way that my brain has been repeating over and over again since reading your fic.... A-FUCKING-MAZING! Ok now that I've gotten that out. This is one of the best Inu Kag Lemons Ive ever read. It was like I was watching the anime while reading this and for something to be so in character is just amazing to me. You did a great job! I would really love to read more of your fanfics! Where do you house them? I hope that you write more Inu Yasha, this was simply perfect!

I've been reading fanfiction for almost a year now, mostly InuYasha based stories. I started at ffnet and then discovered mmorg. After hearing about aff, I finally decided to gird myself and tackle yet another site. I am a voracious reader and have determinably waded thru the shallows, searching for those elusive 'shells' that make all the sand and salt worth it. Yours is the first that I have felt the undeniable urge to review. -

"Something Real" held me spellbound and breathless. My heart was aching for our desperate hanyou's feelings of loneliness, lack of self-worth and over-all alienation from human and demon society alike. You are so right that Kagome, while not being aggressive (like some wanted to term it), saw InuYasha's need for what it was and took the only steps she knew that would ease his pain. While the content included sex, it was not about sex but about acceptance, and I think you did an amazing job to keep the 'smut' out while allowing true emotion to rule. Sex is important to intimacy but it is not the 'be all' of being close to someone. Showing him that he had worth in her eyes did more for 'healing' his emotional scars than anything she could have said, and then showing how much she trusts him with all of herself did the rest of the job. And Kagome's inspiration to do this for her dog-boy in the first place was not out of character at all, you were very right in pointing out her self-sacrificing nature. Only this was in no way a kind of sacrifice, it was an act of love. To put the needs of someone else above your own is Love in its purest form. -

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful view of the dynamics between two very deserving people. Amazing job! If you were to continue this storyline, I would absolutely read it. I would also recommend this story to any InuYasha fanficton readers out there. Again, simply amazing.

I thought your story was great and endearing! I didn't notice mistakes, it was a very easy read, and I think the people where in character. I am also a writer with a frim belief that you you explain how someone reached at point or how their reasoning is different then it is fine to change their personality.

If writers didn't you would never have an interesting story. I thought the whole thing was great and the Inu didn't know anything because I too believe he would be a virgin, one he's never had enough time to turly obsess over sex in his life, fighting and running and always being on the offensive and two, everyone fears him and or(demon women) are disgusted by him being a hanyou and he had no males friends his age until Miroku so I thought your concept was fitting

and again yes Kagome would know about sex, hell just from listening to music if nothing else! So I thought your whole story was belieable.

and don't spend so much time explaining yourself. I finally had to stop doing that. Mature and open minded readers will get it because your writing is good and clear. Immature(kids, or people without knowledge of different thing) just wont get it no matter what.

    Good job!

I wanted to see what would happen when Kagome and Inuyasha had to face the villagers again. It seemed that a key part of Inuyasha's shyness was his feeling that she was siding with them and not him. ...plus, there wasn't much in the way of soundproofing in those old inns. Someone must've wondered why the miko-sama was so vocal.

A well written story that offers a good look into the character and motivations of InuYasha and Kagome. It is also one of a very small number of fics to really remind readers of InuYasha's insecurities and the painful and miserable childhood that produced them, especially after the death of his mother. He was rejected by youkai, humans and his own brother. Indeed, from manga v18, it seems that InuYasha had no friends at all until he met Kagome since he tells her that she was the first person he could trust. In many ways, he is still the frightened little boy who just wants a friend and can't understand why everyone hates him.

Sounding off on a related issue, one thing that turns me off from the usual S/K fic and almost all K/K fics is that the authors are so eager to put Kagome together with Sesshamarou or Kouga that they just portray InuYasha as an insensitive and even cruel person who has no regard for Kagome as anything other than as a shard detector. Apart from the minor point that this portrayal conflicts with the manga which is canon, they don't try to create original plot lines that can still pair Kagome with Sess or Kouga but that also acknowledge InuYasha's pain and that his crude and boorish behavior springs from isolation and lack of socialization with responses to emotions that resemble those of a child. (IMO, pairing Sess and Kagome requires Sess to be OOC, but pairing Kouga and Kagome is even tougher because his behavior is much closer to the way K/K shippers portray InuYasha.)

On the matter of the age of consent in Japan, the constituion sets 13 as age of consent, but each prefecture can set the age for "corrupting a minor" so effectively the real age of consent will be higher in Japan, often 16 or even 18. Also, Japanese law was changed in 1999 to make sex for money with anyone under 18 a crime and Tokyo was able to have its age of consent raised to 18. These actions were undertaken after many stories in both local and international press about Japanese teenage girls becoming prostitutes to earn money for fashionable clothing and accessories.
