Ok it's 3:27am, I have been reading this whole "Home" series for a few hours now and I am an emotional wreck! You have me feeling waay too many things and amongst heartache, misery, pain and tears the need to scream "Taisho you absolute hipocrite!!! How dare you do this to your son and all your daughters? And then you have the gall to ask Sesshoumaru such a thing?!?" Ugh! I've never wanted to bitch slap a character so badly before! And your son truly loved you D:

Very interesting! I like the back stories that leads up to the Blue Moon stories! It gives it more background! Also like the unexpected twisted and turns in this story! Sesshoumaru is so conflicted, Loving and hating his father at the same time and hating the fact that he loved him so. And his mother handing him over to their father knowing how he works, and blunt telling him that he found a new plaything, what a twisted terrible way for kids to grow up! Great short stories and oneshots!

Yay, your writing quality is always one of the (if not the) best I can find in the Inuyasha yaoi sub-fandoms, and I'm really happy that I chanced upon this story right as you finished up the Home series. It's kind of amazing how fucked-up the entire family tree is--it explains why he's so angry and emotionally confused...though, if I were him, I would also be really wary of any kind of sexual and emotional intimacy after getting dumped like that to avoid feeling that pain again. I know in IABM he's celibate for a very, very long time, but I feel like he would balk at any trigger that reminds him of his relationship with his father, especially since Inuyasha resembles his father physically.

This chapter ended well with some sort of tranquil peace to it. Even though it was sad in some aspects, it felt more calm and hopeful than anything else. Like an end to a legacy (Touga's) and the beginning of another's (Sesshoumaru's).

I also like the fact that you showed an interaction between Touga and InuKimi. It was insightful in some ways and it tied well with the actual series.

Love, it was love. Sesshoumaru doesn't understand that yet, or at least he isn't aware of what Touga is talking about. And it seems Touga doesn't know or think Sesshoumaru knows what love is. Funny thing is Sesshoumaru loves him but Touga doesn't seem to know or think he does. If only he knew, if only they both knew and understood that. Ah well.

I also like how the final meeting between them is similar to how it was in the series, yet different to fit better with the story. I think I like your version of it better than the anime/manga's to be honest. Had a sort of tranquility to it that had some sort of resolution to it.

Good job. I'm impressed with the Home series and I can tell you've gotten better at writing and characterization.

I also will look forward to your rewrite and I intend to review and rate. All writers deserve some sort of review. It feeds the muses. >;)

OMG! I do not think I have ever hated their father so much in my life! I want Sesshoumaru to get over him!!! I would like to see into inu taisho's mind though. I also want Inuyasha and shesshoumaru! Kind of like a F* you to their father!

I really liked this one. It does seem to be just one more thing that helped shape Sesshoumaru into what he ultimately transforms into as (InuYasha is born and grows up.)

I was hoping you'd write his angry phase (yes, grief has phases, I know after a bad break up there were different phases, and one of them was very angry) and partially why I was hoping you'd write him angry is because even in the anime/manga he is prone to his angry moments especially since he is bitter/angry about his father and InuYasha. Also because I can't imagine even a younger Sesshoumaru not throwing some kind of violent, angry fit after something like that. And yes, I can see him backing off after something like that. He seems the type that would know his place when shoved down in it.

I think my favorite line from this chapter is: "As bitter as it was to be indebted to his father's softer emotions and to know he would never have him back, it would be worse to be killed by him and know forever that he meant nothing."

    >xD I couldn't help wanting to kill Izayoi myself. I've always despised her and in this story she makes me hate her more. LOL. Sounds bad, but...*slaps the bitch and runs away*

Anywho, thanks for another update. I swear this story is getting better and better. ^^

And by the way, nice twist on InuKimi being his mother and the whole chain of molesting my own kids plot device. It really did click into place and make sense. I have read a few stories where Touga and InuKimi were related as brother and sister, or cousins. >XD They do look incredibly alike, so I can believe the incest angle.
Another thing that came to my mind was how Sesshoumaru resolved to do something. To be his own person. To win his father back. Somehow...if Touga was actually desiring a break from that chain, a child being different than the previous, I think in time he would have grown to see that Sesshoumaru is different. And maybe in time after his infatuation with Izayoi dies (which wouldn't last long anyway because she's dull and boring anyway and wow, stretch marks! And yes, humans in that time didn't live too long anyway), Touga would be attracted to the new Sesshoumaru, or better yet, the revealed Sesshoumaru. So in a way, Sesshoumaru's idea could have worked...but Touga died. Ha.

Or...maybe his mother was right. Maybe Touga is just a womanizing, child-molesting man who gets his kicks off the newest thing? Ha, that would make him a Incestuous-pedophile-Neophile. >XD

But...I am more inclined to believe people are more than they seem. I think Touga is a bit much more than that. Yes, I would side with Sesshoumaru. Heh.

Anywhos, great chapter. I enjoyed it a lot.

As for Touga, I think that because he practices sexual relationships with his own children that he viewed Sesshoumaru as the same as the rest because he was doing the same thing over and over to his children. It was like a never-ending cycle. He expected it to happen. I think maybe he expected Sesshoumaru to somehow be radically different to the rest of them when he probably treated them all the same, 'cept I somehow get the impression that Sesshoumaru was different in his eyes. One, Sesshoumaru is a boy, and two, he was infatuated with Sesshoumaru probably the longest. Maybe it was due to because Sesshoumaru never had a kid. Maybe. But somehow I think Sesshoumaru was the first boy he's had.
That and no matter how hurtful Touga was to him, Sesshoumaru didn't turn to hatred like his mother obviously did. In fact, in this time and years to come, he continues to revere his father even if he was and never will be fond of his father turning towards the favor of a human. That's also what makes him different than his mother. She obviously feels little and has no respect for Touga (although personally I do NOT blame her for that...)

I heart you, too. I'm glad I see it your way. I usually have the ability to read something and figure out the meaning, the perspective, especially if something as empathic as you writes. I love Sesshoumaru's mom, though. When I saw her in the anime, I liked her because she was apathetic, yet silly. I didn't think she acted like him at all. The only thing they share in common is looks and the aloof thing. And yes, I think what makes her silly is how childish she acts, which you caught very well in this chapter. I saw her as very IN character in this chapter, and I have been wondering if you'd ever have her come around and yay, you did! And yes, Touga was wrong. Sesshoumaru is not like her. He even decides to make his own path, to go his own way (even though that's mostly to win Touga back) but partially because I believe he truly did want to be his own person. Whereas his mother just ran around and when Touga left her for good, she just pretty much gave up (after some bitching lol) and continued to be her usual impish, immature self.

Somehow, Touga's words ring true, but I feel that that was a bit cruel of him. After all, he was the one that was having sex with his own son. If Sesshoumaru never grew, it was probably because he never raised him as a father should. The boy grew dependent on him because he was his father AND lover. All he knew was his father. It's not so surprising that he never learned anything else. Although I will say that part of the blame does lie with Sesshoumaru, of course. So far it seems that Touga was expecting something else, yet he never nudged or prodded Sesshoumaru in a different direction. Just took advantage of him and expected him to sprout into something more than he ever would be. Sesshoumaru, on the other hand wanted to stay and be with his father. It was natural to him like breathing. But something in him yearned for something else. To explore. To be more than he is. He just never got there because he had that one comfort that made him happy. Wanting something new and wanting to hold onto something old and comforting is a conflict that most of us do face every day. Unfortunately for Sesshoumaru he lost a lover and a father. I think what Touga did handicapped him, disabled him from feeling. He was always aloof as it was, but now he will shut himself off because the only person he ever loved rejected him so coldly. It's one thing to be forsaken by a lover, but to be told you're probably not his son and that you're worthless...that takes the cake. In the end, Sesshoumaru ended up with nothing.

I never would have thought I'd like this pairing, but the way you describe their relationship in your stories is so fascinating! Poor Sesshoumaru -- his father is so heartless in this chapter.

Glad you continued this. Out of all of the one-shots, this one somehow feels the most melancholic, especially the end of this chapter. Now that I think about it...these "Home" stories seem like and could be a sort of prequel for Blue Moon.

Thanks for writing again. As usual, it was beautifully written.
