Take My Breath Away

A/N: This is my first ever song fic, so it may not be all that great. I picked the song ‘ TMy BMy Breath Away’ by the 80’s group called Berlin, but it was recently redone by Jessica Simpson this year. You may remember it from the movie Top Gun if that helps. Please read and review! Kagome decides that she doesn’t care about Inuyasha’s promise to Kikyo and offers all that she can give to the hanyou. Will Inuyasha take what Kagome offers or will he stand his ground on his promise to Kikyo?

Kagome stole a quick glance at the silver haired hanyou that had been her traveling companion for over two years now. His head was bent down as if he were either deep in thought or praying. Their long and hard fought battle against Naraku had finally come to an end. In the end it wasn’t Inuyasha’s strength or Miroku’s wind tunnel or even Sango’s demon hunter’s skills that stopped Naraku.
It had been the last arrow that Kagome had been saving in her satchel. She had notched the arrow and pulled back on the bow with uncharacteristic confidence in her archery skills. She clearly remembered shutting her blue gray eyes and just letting the purifying arrow fly towards it’s intended target. Kagome’s eyes had flown open when she heard the arrow come into contact with it’s target.
She watched in awe as Naraku’s blood red eyes widened in shock that he had been struck by her arrow. Naraku let out a terrible sounding groan as he withered to the ground. Kagome stood frozen as she watched her purification powers sweep across Naraku’s body. Then in a bright almost blinding white explosion of light Naraku’s body evaporated. Inuyasha had run over to where Kagome had dropped to her knees still clutching the bow tightly in her hand. “Kagome you did it! You killed Naraku!”
She stared up at him stupidly her blue gray eyes wide with shock. The hanyou had then taken her into his arms and held her close to his body. Upon Naraku’s death Miroku’s cursed wind tunnel disappeared and he and Sango decided to marry. They took Shippo to live with them in old lady Kaede’s village.
This had left Kagome and Inuyasha alone again for the first time in many months. Kagome knew that there was really no longer a reason for her to be staying in the feudal era but she just couldn’t bring herself to admit that out loud. Because then she would have to leave Inuyasha behind.

The last thing Kagome wanted was to have to say goodbye to Inuyasha. She just could not make herself let go of the hanyou even though she was well aware that his soul was not completely free to be with her. Her heart seemed to throb painfully in her chest as her thoughts settled on the woman that she was supposed to be the reincarnated soul of. Kikyo still very much had a hold on Inuyasha. As much as Kagome hated to acknowledge that fact she knew deep in her heart that she could not deny the undead miko’s connection to Inuyasha.
Kagome leaned against the trunk of the Goshinboku tree. It was the place where she and Inuyasha had first met over two years ago. She had been the one that had awakened him from the spell that Kikyo herself had placed on him. Kagome leaned her head softly on Inuyasha’s shoulder and was relieved when he didn’t try and distance himself from her. The silence between the two had become nearly suffocating but neither one was brave enough to break it.
Kagome carefully took Inuyasha’s hand in her own and intertwined her fingers with his. The hanyou glanced at her questioningly but made no move to pull his hand away. His gruff voice made Kagome lift her head up off his shoulder to look at him. “You know that you have to go back home soon Kagome.” She brought her other hand up to his face and pressed her slender fingers against his lips to silence him.
“Don’t talk about that Inuyasha, I don’t want to think about leaving right now.” Kagome removed her hand from his mouth and stared up at him innocently. His amber pools seemed to shine brilliantly in the late afternoon sun. Kagome wanted to be able to take something back with her when she left the warring states era for good. She took a deep breath to ready herself for what she was about to ask the hanyou. His brilliant pools of amber bore into her own blue gray pools making her shiver slightly.

“Inuyasha?” Her voice sounded soft and timid like that of a small child’s when she had finally managed to speak.
“Yes Kagome?”
“Are you still going to go down into the depths of Hell with Kikyo?” His amber eyes lowered as he prepared to speak.
“Kagome why are you asking me that?”
“Because I have a right to know. Are you following Kikyo into Hell?” Inuyasha could not even look at the beautiful raven haired maiden next to him. She looked so much like Kikyo that it hurt but she was so different that he could not compare the two. Kagome may have indeed been Kikyo’s soul reincarnated, but she was an entirely different person.
“You already know that Kagome.” Kagome felt the tears sting her eyes making her vision blur instantly.

Watching I keep waiting

Still anticipating love

Never hesitating

To become the fated ones

“Then if you’re going to leave me Inuyasha, I want you to give me one last gift.”
“Name it Kagome, I’ll give you whatever you desire.” Kagome looked up at her beloved hanyou feeling her hot tears spill down her cheeks quickly.
“Take my virginity and give me a child?” Inuyasha’s amber eyes grew wide clearly indicating that he had not been expecting those words to come out of Kagome’s mouth.
“K-Kagome?”
“Please Inuyasha, that’s what I desire more than anything!” She reached up and cupped his cheek gently.
“Are you certain that’s what Kagome? Do you really want to be left alone with my child?” She nodded and sat up on her knees to kiss him. Her petal soft pink lips just barely brushed against Inuyasha’s own weathered lips. As quickly as the kiss had begun it was over.
“Please Inuyasha, let me have this one connection to you that I don’t have to share with Kikyo! Let me bare your child and raise it so that I may always have a part of you near me.” Inuyasha felt his heart give a painful throb and he knew that he had to grant Kagome’s request.
“Okay Kagome, I’ll lay with you and leave you with child. But when the morning comes I shall leave to join Kikyo in Hell.” Kagome nodded and crushed her lips to Inuyasha’s in a bruising kiss. When they broke apart for air Inuyasha’s amber eyes met Kagome’s. Their passion was clearly present in the cool evening air that clung around them.
The sky began to darken into a deep violet shade and the stars were appearing one by one to shine brilliantly above the soon to be lovers. Lightning bugs flitted through the tall swaying grass that surrounded the Goshinboku tree giving it an ethereal glow. Inuyasha’s eyes met Kagome’s once more taking in all the love that she had so freely given to him over the last two years. She was almost like an angel to him she was so perfect.

Through the hourglass I saw you

In time you slipped away,

When the mirror crashed I called you

And turned to hear you say

If only for today

I am unafraid

He grabbed the back of her neck and pulled her angelic looking face towards his own. His lips pressed against hers roughly and he began nipping at her bottom lip begging her to open up for him. Kagome willingly parted her lips to allow Inuyasha’s tongue to dart inside her mouth quickly. She moaned into his mouth when she felt his velvety tongue gliding against her own.

Inuyasha could feel his demonic blood beginning to boil in his veins as his hands skimmed over Kagome’s body. He truly was in love with this woman that was now tangled in his arms but he knew that they could never freely be together. It was because of the promise he had so foolishly made to follow Kikyo to Hell. If only he had not been so foolish as to have made that promise to his one time love.
Inuyasha pushed thoughts of his promise to Kikyo aside as he began ripping Kagome’s clothing off her body. It mattered not that he had ripped her clothing to shreds at that moment in time. Inuyasha quickly eased out of his red fire rat robes and then his white under kimono. Once he was completely naked he lay over Kagome parting her thighs with his knee. He looked down at her as if asking for her permission to continue. After seeing Kagome give him a small nod he captured her lips in another passion filled kiss.

Inuyasha brought his lips down Kagome’s neck in a path that felt like liquid fire against her creamy skin. Kagome arched her back when Inuyasha took one of her hard pink nipples into his hot mouth and sucked it hungrily. She grasped the back of Inuyasha’s head and pressed it to her chest forcing more of her breast into his mouth. Kagome gave a small whimper when Inuyasha’s mouth left her breasts and traveled down her flat stomach.

“Oh Inuyasha, I’m having our baby!” The hanyou smiled sadly at the woman that would have been his mate under normal circumstances.
“Yes, but I shall never see our child because of a foolish promise I made to a woman who no longer means anything to me!”
“Inuyasha don’t.”
“Kagome I love you, I always have. I just never had the nerve to tell you until now. And now it’s too late because I’ll be goin Hel Hell with Kikyo in a few short hours.”
“That doesn’t matter Inuyasha, all that matters is that ove ove each other. So do you think we’ll have a son or a daughter?”
“Most demons whether they’re half or full demon have a son first.”
“Then I shall name our son Tanmaru.”
“Tanmaru? Yeah okay, I like that.”
“And Tanmaru will know everything about his father, I promise Inuyasha.” Inuyasha finally pulled his now flaccid length from Kagome’s body and dressed. He stood before her in only his red fire rat pants and his white under kimono. Inuyasha held out his red fire rat outer kimono to Kagome.
“Here put this on and I’ll take you home.” She nodded and slipped into the fire rat kimono. It came to rest at the middle of her thighs. Inuyasha gently picked her up and carried her bridal style towards the well. Dawn was quickly approaching and the dark violet night sky was rapidly waning into a much lighter shade of lavender.
Once at the well Kagome slid out of Inuyasha’s grasp carefully. She gave him a tender kiss and then threw herself into his arms in a desperate hug. “I won’t forget you Inuyasha! Please don’t forget me! I love you with all my heart Inuyasha!”
“I love you too Kagome and shall never forget about you! You will always have my heart no matter if I am destined to remain in Hell with Kikyo!” Inuyasha then handed her his precious Tetseiga and the Shikon no Tama that was finally pieced back together. “Take these and remember me by them Kagome.”
She placed her hand on her still flat stomach and smiled. “I have our son, Tanmaru, to remember you by. But I will take Tetseiga and the Shikon No Tama with me as well.” Inuyasha moved to take off his prayer beads but Kagome stopped him. “No don’t take those off, keep them with you to remember me by.” He nodded and let go of the prayer beads.
The two lovers shared one final kiss before the sun finally broke the horizon. Kagome felt tears sting her eyes when she saw Kikyo appear with all of her soul catcher demons. “Come Inuyasha, it’s time to journey to Hell with me as you promised.”
“I love you Inuyasha, never forget that!”
“I love you too Kagome and I won’t forget!” Kagome watched with tear filled blue gray eyes as the love of her life and father or her unborn child began walking towards Kikyo. Then the two were carried away by the soul catcher demons and Kagome climbed into the well to head back home to the future. She made a promise that she would tell Tanmaru all about his father and how much she loved him. Inuyasha would never be forgotten not as long as Kagome had their son to raise.
