Hello
everyone! I’m going to finally spit out this idea that I’ve had for a while.
For those of you that love Sess/Kagome fics, this is for you! As you may know
from my other story, His Gypsy’s Heart, I like slow and easy romances. I
don’t like it when two characters get together too fast because the romance
isn’t right. I believe that if Kagome and Sesshoumaru were to really get
together, it would take time and they would have to overcome many difficulties.
So here is my version of this pairing. Please review!
It helps me post faster, really! If you give me hints about what you like and
don’t like, I will be more than happy to consider your opinion. Thanks for
reading!
Here is the full summary:
Naraku is dead. The jewel is complete. Everything
should be great, right? But the happy ending that everyone thought they would
get does not come. The Shard Hunters realize their greatest fears, each his own
nightmare. But one can change all of it. With a selfless wish, believing that
she has nothing to lose, Kagome makes the greatest sacrifice. Now, left with
nothing, she is alone…a lonely savior of everyone who knew her. But who will
take the step to save her?
DISCLAMER:
I do not own the Inuyasha character, however, Yoko, Yumi, Gael, and Katori are
my characters… SO DON’T TOUCH!!
Save Me from
Myself
Prologue
She was dead. Kagome was dead. She lay in a pool of her own blood, her eyes
closed forever in an eternal sleep. Sango’s arms were limp around Kohaku,
Inuyasha stood with dull eyes in front of Kikyo, Miroku’s eyes were
tear-filled, his limp hand now free of the curse lying motionless by his side.
Shippo was crying. His mother was gone.
Perhaps the only one to be thinking about anything sane at the moment was
Sesshoumaru, who stood silently flexing his new arm. Kagura’s eyes were wide as
she held a hand to her chest where her new heart beat. A heart that felt deep
gratitude and great sadness for the miko that was gone.
The jewel lay dim by Kagome’s hand where she dropped it seconds before her
death. No one could speak. There was nothing to say.
Slowly, Inuyasha stood. His mind was humming with the recent events…
Naraku was gone. Inuyasha looked around at the carnage surrounding him. Kikyo was
gone, her body nothing but the dirt she was made from. Kohaku, his eyes
lifeless pools, lay in Sango’s embrace. She was sobbing.
Miroku’s wind tunnel was taking control, causing the monk incredible pain.
Kagura was dead, her heart torn to shred by the recently deceased Naraku.
Shippo was unconscious, for he had been knocked to the side sometime in the
battle. His foxfire was still weak. Kouga was dead, his legs bleeding from the
places where the shards had been torn out.
Sesshomaru, the stony, evil, emotionless Sesshoumaru, stood much like a statue
in the midst of it all. Rin lay dead at his feet. The Tensaiga could not bring
her or anyone back. It lay still on its master’s side, the life-giving pulse
silent.
Kagome was on her knees. The well was sealed. There was no way of going home.
She looked at Inuyasha and saw only the deep sadness in his eyes. He felt he
own shock…everything happened so fast…he looked back towards Kikyo…his Kikyo…he
had failed her…had failed his promise to always protect her.
Everything was silent…there was nothing to say…But then something happened.
Kagome was on her feet, tears streaming down her face. Her eyes were hopelessly
sad. Before anyone could do anything, there was a bright light. The jewel had
been activated.
He heard her voice coming to him.
“Please! Take all of this back! I give my life to you in return for their
happiness!” Then it hit him, but he was too late.
“No!” He saw her face, saw the tears, saw the loss of the Kagome he knew. This
was her last act…an act of desperation…he didn’t understand…didn’t want to
understand! He was losing the only thing he had left of Kikyo! Her soul, the
soul that he had loved so dearly was departing!
“No! Kikyo!” But then she was smiling. A sad, bitter, smile…
“Inuyasha…please…be happy…everyone! Be happy!” Then the light intensified, and
when it was gone, there was Kagome, dead…
Inuyasha fell to his knees. She had revived the dead. Kouga was brought back
along with his speed. Kagura’s heart was regenerated. Kikyo stood behind him, a
new soul within her body. Kohaku was alive and crying in his sister’s arms.
Miroku’s hand no longer held the dreadful curse. Rin was back, clinging to her
idol with a new vigor. Sesshoumaru’s arm, the one he lost in battle with the
Tetussaiga was back.
She had returned to them what she thought would make them happy, but now, as
Inuyasha felt Kikyo’s arms go around him, he felt sick. This was not the Kikyo
he loved. The one he loved was gone.
Sango was crying. The tears didn’t stop. Kagome had given her life for them.
She knew that she should be happy with her choice, but that knowledge hardly
helped her stop her tears. Her best friend, no, her sister was gone.
Miroku’s own eyes were filling rapidly with unshed tears. His heart was crying
out to the one who understood him. The one woman who had given him a chance for
a future that he never dreamed possible. The one woman who gave him a chance to
have a family…was gone…
Kouga was having an inner battle. He could not understand what was happening.
Why was his Kagome lying dead? Why wasn’t she smiling? Where was the joy he
expected to see when Naraku was dead? No! It wasn’t supposed to be this way!
Shippo was glowing with the new energy he felt within his small body. His
mother had given her life so that he could develop the powers that he wanted so
much. He was hysterical. It wasn’t supposed to happen like this! Kagome was
supposed to be here, hugging him and telling him how much she loved him! This
wasn’t right!
Perhaps, then, the only one whose thoughts were sane was, indeed,
Sesshoumaru. He patted Rin on the head, silently telling her to stay where she
was. His boots made no sound to disrupt the eerie silence as he padded to the
miko’s lifeless body. The Tensaiga was silent. As he neared her, his face
showed nothing, but his mind was in turmoil.
He stopped by her head, looking into the dull eyes of the perhaps the only
human other than Rin that he respected, he wondered…
“Why?” In all his long life, he had never seen anyone do something like this.
“Why give your life for them? Why?” Everyone was still unmoving. Then-
“Sesshoumaru! Bring her back! Bring her back with that fucking sword! Now!” If
the Lord heard him, he showed no sign. He kneeled down.
“It seems, human, that I am in your debt.” He flexed his new arm. Then he heard
it. The wench was breathing! He hesitated no more. With a savage tear of his
claws, he did the unthinkable. The Shard Hunters, Kouga, Kagura, and Rin and
Jacken watched with shock as the Great Sesshoumaru tore open his right wrist.
No one could mistake the gentleness and care the Youkai Lord displayed as he
pulled up the girl into his lap and put his bleeding wrist to her mouth
di
didn’t even flinch as she bit down on him, drinking down the fiery red
substance. Once more, his eyes revealed nothing of what he was thinking.
“What the hell are you doing?” Inuyasha was too speechless to add to Sango’s
outburst. It was Kagura who stood and walked to the exterminator.
“He is giving her his blood so that she can heal. It seems that she took on
some of our most serious injuries when she made the wish…” Sango’s eyes further
blurred. Finally, Sesshoumaru removed his hand. He lightly wiped off the blood
on her face with his sleeve. Putting her back on the ground, he stood, then
turned, gathered Rin and Jacken, and began to walk away.
“Where the hell are you going?!” Inuyasha’s yell stopped his brother in his
tracks. His words were simple, and he turned once more to look at the miko on
the ground. He touched Rin’s head.
“A life for a life…a wound for a wound…my debt is repayed…” Then he was gone.
Kagura walked over to the young girl. Kouga growled.
“Don’t touch her, murderer!” Kagura’s eyes were annoyed.
“I owe her my life!” Her growl reminded everyone once again. “She lost
everything…” She removed her fan from her obi. Inuyasha growled, getting ready
to attack the wing youkai, but Kikyo stopped him with a shake of her head.
Kagura put the fan down next to the girl. “May this always protect you. If you
ever need me, I will be there.” With that, the youkai was off. Kouga was at her
side in an instand, clutching her tightly to ho:p>o:p>
“Kagome…I will come back for you…I will come back for you once I have avenged
my people.” He turned fierce blue eyes to his greatest rival. “I trust you can
take care of her this time?” When his hurricane disappeared, everyone, Shippo,
Miroku, and Sango walked to the miko’s body.
“Kagome…Kagome…” She didn’t move. The only indication that she was even living
was the blood that poured from her wounds and her harsh breathing. Inuyasha
finally made his way over to her. He kneeled down, reached out to touch her, but
his hand went right through her body.
“What’s going on?!” She flickered once…twice…and then…
&nbs…she…she was gone…
