Hey guys! This is just something that came to me in the middle of the night and I decided that I wanted to write it. Let me know what you think, please! I’m not sure how far this will go, as I said with my other story “Love and Slaves”. Check it out if you haven’t!

“Kagome, did you grab my-” “Case files, yes.” “And did you remember to get-” “A printout of our tickets?” “And my-” “Your suitcase is packed.” “Dammit woman, let me finish what I’m saying! Now, did you call for a-” “The driver’s waiting for us outside of the lobby.” “Would you stop that?!” Inuyasha whipped around to face Kagome, halting his furious hair-brushing. Of which he was failing at entirely. His hair was like a bird’s nest. Kagome smiled tenderly at her boss before taking the brush from his grasp and gently working it through his tangled mess of hair. “If I did, nothing would get done around here.” “Feh,“ Inuyasha looked forward, pouting, and folded his arms across his chest. Kagome had to smile at his child-like behavior. She had been working under Inuyasha for about three years. She had known him even longer, through her best friend Sango. Sango was dating Inuyasha’s best friend, Miroku. They came across each other five years earlier and immediately became friends. They argued all the time, but Kagome didn’t seem to mind it much in the long run. Their friendship was precious to Kagome, so she didn’t dare share her true feelings with Inuyasha. Her feelings turned from like to love around the time he had started to become interested in her sister, Kikyo. Like the saying goes, “You never know how good you had it until it’s gone” or something like that. So, in an attempt to try and gain his attention, she applied for the job as being his personal secretary two years after the start of their friendship. Inuyasha was hesitant to hire her, mainly because of their friendship, but he also knew Kagome had amazing work ethic and was also extremely qualified for the job. To be honest, if she hadn’t even known Inuyasha, she would have still applied for it seeing as it was a major upgrade from her former job. It just so happened that her new best friend was head of Taisho Industries. She is twenty-three, while he is twenty-five. Twenty-five and he was in charge of the damn place. It wasn’t that odd, though. Inuyasha was a half-demon. He lived much longer than others and aged slowly. So anyway, here she was. Knowing him for five years, working for him for two, and madly in love with the guy but couldn’t be with him. He had been in a relationship with her sister, Kikyo, for about a year and a half now. What’s worse, he had popped the question. And of course she had said yes. Upon hearing the news, Kagome felt devastated. Many sad movies and ice cream pints ensued. She learned of this about two weeks ago, and already Kikyo was bustling around the house preparing for her wedding that was planned to be sometime in the summer. It was winter now. To Kagome, it was just a bomb ticking away at the limits of her sanity. She couldn’t stand the thought of her sister of all people to be with the one she truly was in love with. That was just the Gods way of slapping her in the face. Kagome was deep in thought, while still brushing Inuyasha’s silver hair, when he turned and grasped her wrist to stop her movements, “Hey, you okay?” Kagome wanted to cry at the sincere worry plastered on his face, “I’m fine. Why?” “…‘Cause you’re still brushing my hair.” Kagome looked down to the brush and the hair she held in her hand underneath it. His hair was perfect. No knots, no nothing. Despite him so easily being able to get these tangles, they were also fairly easy to get out. At least when she did it. Inuyasha seemed to have the hair-brushing brain cell missing. “Oh, right. Uhhh… What are you doing sitting there?! We have to get to the airport or we’ll miss our flight!” Kagome immediately threw the hairbrush into her purse and grabbed onto her suitcase handle, speeding out of his office quickly. “Oi! Wench! Don’t you leave without me!” Inuyasha grabbed his things and followed after her. Kagome was heading down the stairs since the elevator proved to be too slow for her liking, when she slipped on the newly waxed floors in front of the stairway. Kagome gasped as she stared at the ground coming closer and closer towards her, when immediately she was being pulled back by strong arms. She could feel his warmth radiating onto her from behind and it caused her heart to race. “Wench, don’t go doin’ stupid stuff like usual. One day I won’t be there to save ya,” Inuyasha let her go and looked down the stairs, “Damn, that would have been a bad ending. No wonder your heart’s racin’.” Inuyasha picked his things back up before running over to the elevator which now was open and at their level. Of course that’s what he would think. The stairs. Yeah. Totally. Kagome came to grips with herself and grabbed her things before following suit. ~~~~ Once they were at the airport, they had to stand in a mile-long line in order to pass security. Inuyasha was having none of it. “Remind me why we are standin’ around with these bastards again, Kagome? Why didn’t we just take our own damn plane?” Kagome bowed apologetically to those around her that heard Inuyasha, then turned to him with a deathly glare, “Because we are trying to show our supporters that we are just like other people and don’t think of ourselves as ‘better than others’ like those reporters said in that magazine! Now, be quiet!” Kagome whispered hotly. Inuyasha stared at Kagome wide-eyed like a scolded puppy before nodding. The line moved slowly, but eventually they made it through security and up to their gate. “Finally! Just enough time to get a drink from Starbucks. Want anything Inuyasha?” Kagome asked as she dug through her purse for some money. Inuyasha sat in one of the chairs at their gate, leaning back and placing a hat over his face so he could take a nap, “Yhh gat me tha uzl.” Inuyasha mumbled underneath the hat. Kagome didn’t need to hear him to know what he had said. His usual. She knew him too well. As Kagome ordered their drinks and waited near the pick-up area for them, her purse started to vibrate. She reached inside and pulled out her phone, not checking the caller ID before answering, “Higurashi here.” “Kagome? What are you doing with Inu’s phone?” Kagome recognized the voice to be Kikyo. Feeling a reactionary pull at her heart from hearing her sister call Inuyasha by “Inu” just further reminded her of their engagement, which made Kagome feel a little sick. “I guess I had his phone with me. We’re at the airport now and getting ready to board soon. Did you need something?” “Inu’s usually so organized,” Wrong, “I’m sure you must have just taken his phone thinking it was yours. Though, I couldn’t imagine how… They’re both so different. Oh well, I guess that’s just the price to pay for being you.” Kikyo never liked the fact that Kagome had spent so much time with her fiancée. And ever since their relationship started, she had become extremely possessive over him. Their relationship as siblings went down the drain. Though Kagome had never admitted her feelings for Inuyasha, it was plain as day to Kikyo. She had grown up with Kagome. She didn’t need it written out for her to see it. “Kikyo, I have to go. Did you need something?” Kagome pressed the phone between her ear and shoulder as she thanked the barista, grabbed both drinks and walked back towards the gate’s seating area. “Where is he anyway? I’m sure he would want to say goodbye to me, since I won’t see him for two weeks. Lord knows he showed me last night, but I just can’t help but miss him already. I’m sure he feels the same way.” Kagome had reached their seats and took note of Inuyasha’s sleeping, snoring form in front of her. It made her snort at Kikyo’s comment. Yeah I’m sure he does. “Oh! They’re announcing it’s time to board! Sorry, Kikyo! I have to go! Byyeeeeeeeee!” Kagome placed one of the drinks onto the seat and used her free hand to hang up on her sister, who was still talking and trying to get her to hand the phone to Inuyasha. Kagome took the drink once more and sat down next to him, placing his on the chair next to her. She couldn’t help but look over at Inuyasha, who wasn’t snoring now, and appreciate him for who he was. He wasn’t organized like Kikyo seemed to think. Maybe he put that on for her, but he sure as hell wasn’t when he was being himself. And it saddened Kagome to think that Kikyo had absolutely no idea how Inuyasha really was, and that Inuyasha couldn’t be himself with the person he was intending to marry. That’s just not how a relationship should be, in her mind. She took another sip of her drink before leaning over towards him and pulling the hat off his sleeping face. His eyes were closed and he seemed to be completely relaxed in her presence. That made her smile. She rarely got to see him taking a nap during the day, but each time she just couldn’t fight the urge to take advantage of the trust he put in her and kiss those lips. Sighing internally, Kagome rested the hat back over his face and took another sip of her drink. Apparently she must have not been careful enough, because he immediately lurched forward, hat plopping onto the ground, and he looked around cautiously for anything dangerous. Though, he seemed to quickly realize there was nothing to be worried about and recovered fast, “Damn, I wasn’t really planning to sleep.” Inuyasha sat back in his chair. Kagome grabbed his drink by the top half and handed it over to him. He reached over to take it from her, when the top popped off and spilled all over her work pants and blazer. “Ah!” Kagome felt the hot liquid seep through her clothing and begin to burn her skin. Inuyasha’s reaction was so fast that she hadn’t even realized the outcome of his actions. He had ripped her pants right off, along with her blazer. She was now standing in front of hundreds of people, ass shown to the world. Kagome’s face started to heat up with a deep blush. She tried pulling at her shirt to cover her backside. It was no use, so she quickly sat down on the chair and pulled her legs up to her chest. Apparently this didn’t do much to hide things, because Inuyasha was staring straight at her. Down there. “Inuyasha!” She blushed harder at his staring. Inuyasha seemed to come out of a daze and quickly threw her his own jacket, hoping it would provide some protection from the people looking at her. “I.. Uhh.. Kagome, I’m sorry-” “You better be sorry! You ruined my clothes and you made me stand there half-naked in front of this entire crowd! How would you like it if your ass was shown to the whole world! Now we’ll see it in tomorrow’s paper. Oh, please shoot me now.” Inuyasha frowned, “I just saved your sorry ass from getting burned! You should be thankin’ me! Maybe now I won’t have to look at your bad taste in clothes, either! Maybe I should just ruin them all!” “Oh, so you can stare at my bare body again?! I saw you look, if I knew better I’d have to say you liked what you saw!” “As if I could ever be interested in a girl like you! I prefer a woman with curves,” Inuyasha made an hour-glass shape with his hands to show what he meant, “not someone with a bony ass like yours!” Inuyasha stomped off somewhere after that. Inuyasha’s words hit her deep. She had been taken aback by that, and felt like she was finally getting an idea of why he never took an interest in her over Kikyo. It didn’t make sense; Kikyo and her looked fairly similar. There were definite differences, but Kagome wouldn’t say she was the lesser-shaped of the two. But now she was doubting herself because of what he had just said. Looking down, Kagome wrapped herself into his jacket. She unconsciously took in his scent and relaxed within the warmth provided by his clothing from him previously wearing it. I guess I wouldn’t be able to provide enough for him like Kikyo could… Minutes passed and Kagome took note of the time closing in on when they would have to board. She looked next to her only to come face-to-face with Inuyasha himself. “Uh… Hello.” Inuyasha still seemed to be in a sour mood but handed her some paper towels along with a pair of pants he bought at one of the gift shops. He then plopped down next to her and folded his arms across his chest, then looked out the window to watch the planes lift off. Kagome inwardly smiled and pulled the jacket off her slightly to wipe off any remaining coffee off her. She put the paper towels onto the chair next to her, along with the two coffee drinks to be thrown out later. Looking over to Inuyasha, who was not paying attention to her in the least, she decided it was her cue to put on the pants. She gingerly sat up, her backside only covered by thong straps as she quickly stepped into the pants and pulled them up. Little did she know that a certain someone had watched out of the corner of his eye, only to look back at the planes before she had noticed. Kagome sat back down and handed him his jacket, “Thanks.” “Feh,” Inuyasha took it from her and laid it over his legs. “Attention passengers of Gate D-5. We will be taking all those seated in First Class now. Please bring your tickets to the front. Again, all those in First Class please come to the front with your tickets.” Kagome got up from her seat and looked at Inuyasha who was also gathering his things. They both headed to the front and had their tickets scanned, then handed back to them, before they made their way into the airplane where the first class passengers would sit. Normally, for the type of situation that they were in where they were trying to prove a point to the media, Kagome would have made them sit in Economy. But, they were flying very far and she knew how grumpy Inuyasha could get when forced into one place for so long, especially when it was small. So, she decided to go ahead with First Class. They were in for a long ride. This plane had two levels, the upper level being those for mainly First Class. There were beds for the passengers along the sides, with nicer seats to sit in for lift off and landing. There was a nice bar area to order drinks at, which Kagome knew both of them would want to take part in. Upon finding their seats which were placed next to one bed with two spaces, Kagome couldn’t help but giggle. When she bought their tickets online, she had planned for them to have to share a bed. She could have gotten two separate ones, but she just couldn’t help her evil little self in doing the opposite. She would never tell Inuyasha that, though! Inuyasha sighed, sinking into the chair he claimed to be his as he began to relax, “Kagome, get me a drink will ya? Someone ruined mine.” Kagome scowled at Inuyasha. She placed her bag onto his stomach, making him “Oomph” in the process, before digging out her wallet and walking over to the bartender. “Hello, are you open yet?” Kagome asked. “Well, technically we’re not supposed to give out drinks until we’ve reached high enough altitude, but… I don’t think it’s such a big deal.” The bartender smiled nicely at Kagome. Kagome smiled back, picking up on his insinuation, “Well, in that case… Care to help me out here? My companion and I could really use a drink.” “Just don’t let anyone else know I did,” the bartender flirtatiously responded. “Your secret’s safe with me.” Kagome couldn’t help but flirt back a bit. It was nice to be wanted by someone. To be interested in by someone. Especially after what Inuyasha had said. ~~~~ Kagome came back a while later with their drinks, after flirting with the bartender some more while he took extra time in making their drinks so he could talk to her. “What took you so long, wench? We’re just about to lift off.” Inuyasha looked at the drinks in her hands and took one for himself. He instantly gulped half of it down, satisfied that it would do the trick. To keep him from panicking like he usually did when flying. It just didn’t sit well with him. But once they were up in the air, it seemed to go away. “Umm, I was talking with the bartender. Sorry,” Kagome sat down in the chair next to him, sipping her drink as well. She placed it in the cup holder while she buckled herself in. Inuyasha gulped down some more of his drink and then looked over at her, “The bartender? What do you mean you were talking to him?” Kagome sighed. He was always so defensive of her and other guys. She couldn’t figure it out for the life of her, seeing as he showed zero interest in her, but would absolutely detest any male that came within five feet of her. She was a bit surprised that he hadn’t been clobbering all the guys at the gate. But maybe it was because… Maybe he was looking, too? Kagome blushed at the thought, then shook it off. No, there’s no way. “Um yeah, he was just talking to me about stuff.” “Stuff? What kind of stuff?” Inuyasha was eyeing her now. Kagome looked forward, noticed the DvD player on the back of the seat in front of her and started to mess around with it, “You know. Stuff.” “No, Kagome, I do not know what this ’stuff’ is, so please enlighten me if you will.” Inuyasha was getting frustrated. He never spoke properly unless he got mad. “Oh, look Inuyasha! They have the movie ‘300‘!” Kagome tried to distract him by naming one of his favorite movies. Of course it would be something gorey. Inuyasha gave a brief glance towards the screen out of pure habit, then mentally slapped himself and looked back at her, “Kagome.” “Nothing, Inuyasha, Nothing happened. I’m still single. Still no boyfriend, love life, or anything like it.” Inuyasha looked at her for another minute before nodding and gulping down the last bit of his drink. Kagome sighed, then looked towards the bed. Now she just felt foolish. She should have ordered separate beds. Maybe there’s a spare one around, She looked around the plane, Nope. Completely packed. “Attention passengers! We will now be taking off, so please remain in your seats and keep yourselves buckled until we’ve reached high enough altitude.” The screen Kagome had been messing with to find a movie to watch changed to the short video of what to do when in an emergency. Sighing, Kagome looked back over to the bed and decided fate was against her. She would have to share a bed with Inuyasha. In reality, it wouldn’t be the first time. But it would be the first time since she had realized her true feelings for him. Without another thought, Kagome pulled out her book and began reading it while enjoying her beverage. Inuyasha was probably half-asleep by now, she figured. Shrugging, Kagome delved into the world of vampires and werewolves. ~~~~ About an hour and a half later, Inuyasha yawned and stretched loudly. He looked over at Kagome who was still reading her book, obviously really into it since she hadn’t noticed his arousal. Inuyasha felt a bit groggy from the drink he had, not hungover, just groggy, and decided to take an actual nap. He unbuckled himself and made his way over to the bed. It wasn’t really like a bed, it was smaller than a queen but bigger than a twin. He preferred bigger beds to lay all out on. But this would have to do. It was definitely better than sleeping in the chair. Inuyasha pulled out his bag from the overhead bin and took out a plain white t-shirt and a pair of casual lounging pants so he would sleep easier. He got up onto the bed and closed the curtain. Poking his head out, he said, “Don’t be a peeping tom and look in.” Kagome looked over at him, raising her eyebrow, “You’re one to talk.” Inuyasha stuck out his tongue before closing the curtain and changing into his more comfortable clothes. As soon as he was changed, he folded up his business clothes nicely and placed them into his bag, then put it back up into the overhead bin. Yawning once more, Inuyasha rolled over onto his side, facing the window, and let himself fall asleep. Kagome couldn’t help the blush that found its way to her cheeks as she found herself wanting to get in bed with him. She was way too nervous to, though, and decided she would stay up as long as possible. She also decided it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get another drink. It wasn’t like she was going anywhere, and it would definitely help take the edge off. Maybe then when the time did come that she got in bed, if he still happened to be there, it wouldn’t be so awkward for her. With that, she marked her place in the book and headed over towards the bartender. He immediately smiled in her direction and she couldn’t help but smile back. Maybe I’ll stop and talk for a little while… ~~~~ Three hours and two more very strong alcoholic beverages later, Kagome had found herself unable to keep herself from yawning. She was getting very tired. She had managed to talk to the bartender for about an hour before another girl around her age seemed to catch his interest. Story of my life. So, she had spent the remaining time reading her book, but had a very hard time focusing on it. After and hour and only being able to read a total of five pages, she decided to man it up and go face destiny. Or, Inuyasha, rather. Kagome was tempted to change clothes, too, but the pants he had bought for her in replacement of her business clothes really were comfortable. So, she just changed into a simple spaghetti-strapped shirt and out of her formal silk blouse in one of the bathrooms. After putting her things away, Kagome pulled back the curtain and found Inuyasha to be facing her direction now, still fast asleep. She swallowed hard, then inched herself onto the bed. As soon as she fully made her way onto the bed, she closed the curtains. She laid herself down onto her side, facing Inuyasha. She didn’t want to take up much space, she knew he sprawled out usually. He was probably cramped in here. She couldn’t help but stare at his face. His beauty. His tan, golden skin darkened by his gorgeous silver hair. His soft, gentle face that looked so angelic while he slept. He looked so harmless when he was like this. She looked down at his hands, his claws having many times sliced through flesh and killed many. Looking back up to his face, it didn’t seem rational to think that of the being before her, not as he was right now. He was so peaceful. She couldn’t help but lull into a sleep just by being able to relax within his presence. ~~~~ Hours later, Inuyasha woke up from a deep sleep. He couldn’t remember the last time he had slept so well, despite the fact that the bed wasn’t to his liking. It was a moment later that he noticed the being in front of him. At first he thought it had been Kikyo, but then after his eyes focused better, he realized it was most definitely not Kikyo. It was Kagome. He had his arms wrapped lazily around her, holding her close though against his chest. She was cuddled up into him, as if she had enjoyed being that close. He knew better than to think that. He quickly withdrew himself from her, trying not to wake her. He didn’t want to give her the wrong idea about all this. Using moreso his demonic abilities rather than humanistic, he inched around her until he was off of the bed and outside of the curtains. He quickly moved to sit down into his seat and tried not to think of the woman behind the curtains and in the bed he had just been residing in. He tried to distract himself by turning on the DvD player and to find a movie. ~~~~ The rest of the flight was uneventful. They had landed at their destination early in the morning. They gathered their things and made their way to baggage claim, taking their suitcases and heading towards the front of the airport to catch a cab. Yet another thing Kagome had said they had to do. Inuyasha argued that since they weren’t even in the same country anymore, it didn’t matter. But Kagome ignored him. They arrived at the hotel they would be staying at not too much later, which actually happened to be quite regal to Inuyasha’s surprise, since Kagome had been lecturing him this whole time on how they must keep up their “image” of being practical just like everyone else. She ignored him with that, too. She must have just wanted it for herself. As soon as they reached their room, Inuyasha sighed and went face-first into the bed. It had been a long flight, and even though most of it had consisted of sleeping, he could immediately feel the jetlag and just wanted to sleep it off. Kagome did too since she had done the same thing on the opposite bed. Their suite was quite large, and they both had their own beds, but they had to share a room. Kagome sat herself up on her elbows as she reached into her purse and pulled out her phone. She turned it back on and immediately began texting. “Who ya texting?” Inuyasha peered at her over his shoulder. “Sango. I just wanted to let her know we landed safely.” Kagome quickly typed away on her phone, then sat up fully and grabbed her cell phone charger. She walked over to the table near one of the outlets and plugged her charger into the wall, then the charger’s cord into her phone. Placing it onto the table, she began to take off her socks and shoes. “We don’t have anything planned today, so I say we just sleep. We have early meetings tomorrow and we can’t afford to be late.” Inuyasha had thought Kagome’s idea was a good one, and was reaching for his phone in her purse, “Fine.” Inuyasha began dialing a number onto the keypad, then pressed it to his ear. He laid back down and smiled when someone answered, “Hey baby.” Kagome immediately knew he had called Kikyo. It was going to be another one of those times she would hear the one-sided phone calls between him and her sister. She could guess pretty much everything Kikyo was saying, though. “You waited up for me? Aw. Yeah we just got in.” Oh yeah I’m sure you waited over twelve hours to talk to him. Such a kiss-ass. There was a long pause, “Oh trust me, I could definitely use some of that.” Inuyasha chuckled, then there was another pause, “Don’t tempt me,” pause, “You know exactly what’ll happen,” pause, “I know, I miss you too baby.” Kagome was lying on her bed now and had reached for one of the pillows, then placed it over her head so she didn’t have to hear anymore of their conversation. It sickened her at the thought of what he was saying. Inuyasha finished his phonecall about five minutes later, then went and plugged his phone into his charger as well. He came over to Kagome’s side and pulled the pillow off her face, “Oi, Kagome-” he was cut off by her sleeping face. She looked tired and worn out, but also a bit distressed over something. Probably that bastard from the plane. Inuyasha put the pillow back above her and pulled the blankets from around her feet up and over her small body. He could never place why, but he was always overly protective of her. And he knew that he always would be. Kagome was precious to him, and she deserved a lot more than just some bartender on an airplane. Of course he knew it wasn’t right of him to meddle in her love life, but he just couldn’t help it. It was like a knee-jerk reaction. Letting out a quiet sigh, Inuyasha went over to his bed and laid on top of the covers. He placed a hand behind his head as he stared at the ceiling. He was going to be up for a while as he thought things over. He never could sleep easily after thinking of her with some other guy. It just bothered him. He assumed it was because he saw her as his little sister, and because of that he had high hopes for her to find someone that was like a brain surgeon or something like that. The stakes were high. Too high for him to even achieve, he thought. Yeah… She deserves someone better. Someone better than average. Unbeknownst to him, Kagome had been awake when he pulled the covers over her. She felt her heart squeeze at his tenderness. She couldn’t help but think that somewhere deep inside him, Inuyasha was unconsciously doing everything because he actually cared for her. Maybe, just maybe one day... Maybe one day he’ll notice me.
Thanks so much for reading guys! This is about to get a whole lot more interesting! I hope you liked it and I really look forward to your reviews! This is probably the longest chapter I’ve written in a long time, so please let me know what you think so far! I know nothing juicy has happened yet, but I promise it has yet to come. If you haven’t already, check out my other story “Love and Slaves”! -Cherry
