Summary: Kouga is determined to have Kagome as a mate but she isn't exactly "willing". So how will he convince her to stay with him?

Kouga sat on a cliff overlooking the valley below. It was late and the night breeze brought many scents to his keen nose. He could smell everything around
him; from the leaves that were now changing colors to the tiniest animals sleeping in their burrows nestled into the valley floor. He sighed and leaned back
against a small stone formation to relax some, but never did his eyes stop surveying the lands below. As leader of the wolf demon tribe it was his responsibility
to keep his people safe and be on a constant look out for threats. Although he tried to stay completely focused, Kouga couldn't help but let his mind wander.

All day he had been distracted by the scene that repeatedly played in his mind.

Kouga's POV: He and Guinta had been out hunting and agreed to split up. Deer and wild boar seemed to be scarce in this part of the forest, even rabbits
were hard to find. They needed to bring back a large kill in order to feed their pack. Kouga turned his head slowly to scent the air hoping to pick up the trail of
his next meal when the gentle smell of lavender and purity found its way to his nose. 'Only one creature can smell like that, KAGOME!' Kouga thought
excitedly and ran off to find his "woman".

Author's POV: Inuyasha, Kagome and the others were walking down one of the many forest trails towards the next village.
They hadn't heard any rumors of jewel shard lately and Inuyasha was starting to get grouchier than usual, "Dammit Kagome don't you feel ANY shards at all!
There has to be more shards somewhere! At this rate I'll never become a full demon!" Inuyasha crossed his arms over his chest and glared at Kagome who was
carrying a sleeping Shippo. Everyone could see Kagome was getting tired of his whining. Sango and Miroku exchanged looks and stayed several feet behind
the miko as she continued to walk past Inuyasha. "Oi bitch, I'm talkin' to you!"he shouted at the top of his lungs.

Kagome came to an abrupt halt and spun on her heels to face the hanyou, "I heard you Inuyasha! Hell, I think half of Japan heard your big mouth. What do
you want me to do? I can't wave my hands and make the shikon shards appear! If I could then the jewel would already be complete and all of our lives could be
back to normal!"
Shippo yawned stretching his arms and flexed his tiny fox feet "What's with all the shouting?" he yawned exposing his fangs. Miroku came to stand at Kagome's
side with Sango not far behind. Someone had to keep an eye on the hentai houshi at all times; there was no telling when or where his hands would start to
wander.

"Shut up fox, you're about as useless as she is!" Inuyasha shouted.
"Hey don't call Kagome useless! She's nice and pretty and smart and smells a lot better than you ya big jerk!" Inuyasha made a grab for Shippo but he darted
out of Kagom's arms narrowly missing Inuyasha's claws and hid behind the monk.

"Inuyasha..." Miroku spoke in a calm tone, "why must you be so cruel to Kagome-sama? You cannot blame her for the lack of jewel shards." Miroku cast a
sly glance at Kagome and put his arm around her lower back, "I think we should take a break when we reach the next village, we all need time to rest.." the ks hks hand was gradually creeping lower which Kagome didn't seem to notice.

Unfortunately, for Miroku, Sango saw exactly what he had in mind and delivered a quick slap to the back of his head, "When will you ever learn to keep your
hands to yourself houshi?"
Miroku rubbed his head and smiled innocently at Sango, "I have no idea what you are referring to my lovely Sango. I am merely trying to defend Kagome from
Inuyasha's increasingly negative attitude."

ONG>ONG>Kouga's POV: Kouga was only a matter of minutes away from them and clearly heard the exchange between Kagome and the hanyou, "Look Inuyasha,
don't get so upset, maybe we'll find some information when we reach the village." Kagome said in a hopeful tone.

"MAYBE!! Maybe isn't good enough wench! Do you think Kikyo would have ever said that 'MAYBE we would find the shards' if she were here? Shit
Kagome when you were reincarnated from Kikyo's soul you must have gotten cheated. She was a hell of a lot smarter and more brave, not to mention
determined, than you will ever be!"

Everyone looked at him, wide eyed from shock caused by the words he dared to speak. Kagome could do nothing but stare at him with her eyes tearing up.
She could think of no response. This, after all was how he felt, and what was the point of arguing with him. In Kagome's mind it was further proof that he cared
nothing for her and that when the jewel was complete, they would go their separate ways.
"Only a worthless half breed would say such a thing to someone like Kagome." Kouga's voice was surprisingly calm compared to the rage that showed on
his face. His sudden appearance during this drama startled everyone, even Inuyasha. Kouga had been smart enough to stay down wind and witness first hand
the abusive words that were dished out to Kagome on a daily basis.

" Hi Kouga-kun..." she spoke in a soft voice trying to hide the forming tears, "...how's your pack?" Kouga stepped closer to her observing the sorrow in her
eyes and the feeble attempt to cover it up.
He reached a large clawed hand out to carefully caress her cheek, but was stopped by an all too familiar growl.
"Get away from her you wimpy wolf!"
"Why should I dog breath? You obviously don't appreciate what you have, so why shouldn't I take her? Don't forget that I laid a claim to her a long time ago,
and one day, Kagome will be my woman!"
Kagome stepped towards Sango and Miorku as Inuyasha laid his ears back and Kouga's tail whipped back and forth in anticipation of a fight. Shiplimblimbed
into a near by tree not wanting to be anywhere near the action.

"Hey Kagome," Shippo yelled "who are you rooting for?"
"Shippo! I am not ROOTING for anyone!"
"This is so childish. Are you going to stop them Kagome-chan?" Sango had a bored look as she waited for Kagome's response.
"(sigh) Yeah, ourseurse. I hate seeing them fight and inflict injury on each other. Kami knows neither one of them could handle a hard blow to their heads, it
might shake loose the last few brain cells they have." Kagome said in an exasperated voice. "OK you two that's enough."
Kouga reached out and gently took Kagome's hand, "Kagome, can we talk, alone?" Kouga glanced at Inuyasha who was turning bright red with anger.
"Oi wolf, you're not taking my shard detector anywhere without my permission..."
"Sit Boy!" WHAM! "I'll be back in a few minutes" she waved to her friends and walked away with Kouga just to spite Inuyasha but she looked a little
uncomfortable.
Kagome reached up and rubbed her forehead. Kouga watched her as they walked the short distance ilenclence "Kagome..." She stopped and turned to look at
him, "why do you tolerate him? I can see the hurt in your eyes. No woman deserves to be treated like that. Why don't you come live with me and my wolf pack.
We all love you and you would be treated like a queen." She looked down but Kouga hooked a finger under her chin and brought her gaze up to meet his, "I
will love you forever Kagome and never talk to you in such a way. Please come with me."
"I have to find the shards....."
"Stop looking for excuses. I know you love that stupid hanyou, I'm not blind. If you would just open your heart to me Kagome I could love all your sadness
and fears away." Kagome stiffened as Kouga's face became closer and closer to hers. Their noses touched "Please let me love you like you deserve to be
Kagome....." Kougas warm lips touched hers in a kiss that sent heat pulsing through her body. He passed his rough calloused handong ong the sides of her face
and down her smooth neck to rest on her shoulders, giving them slight squeeze. Kouga's tongue softly rubbed her lips wanting entrance to her mouth.
Kagome pulled back, her vision blurred from the sudden pleasure, "Kouga... I'm so sorry.....I.....I just...I can't do this.." Kagome ran off in the direction of her
friends. (End of Flashback)

Kouga's mind came back to his present surroundings. His lands were still at peace as the first beams of sun light scattered across the horizon, calling to the
earth and all it's inhabitants to wake up. He could still taste the sweetness of Kagome's lips. His fingers tingled with the memory of the flawless skin on her face
and neck and craved to touch so much more. Kouga could feel his loins tighten and saw the rising bulge under the fur wrap he wore around his waist.
'There has to be some way to convince her of my feelings... some way to get her alone and keep her from running off..' that triggered the image of Kagome
running away from him with her hair flying in the and and strong legs pushing her lean body forward and, sadly, further away from his reach.

Although the thought of her leaving him made his heart sink, her beauty also made him long for her and cause his manhood to harden even more. Kouga
groaned in self annoyance at his growing erection, 'Now is not the time for this! I have to figure out how to get Kagome here and KEEP her until she agrees to
be my mate.' The "how to" of his plan burdened his mind. Kouga crossed his legs and set his elbow upon one knee while he rested his chin in his hand. His
other hand drummed on his right thigh, deep in thought.

Perhaps if he rephrased the question to himself and analyzed it further he would find the answer.
The real question was "how do you keep a strong beautiful woman from running off and make her do what you want" 'Great! Now I sound as bad as that
controlling ass Inuyasha.....' Kougas eyes snapped fully open and he jumped to his feet, "THAT'S IT!!!!" He shouted, his voice echoing through the valley. "I
never thought that hanyou would come in good for something, but he finally did!" Kouga chuckled feeling a swell of pride wash over him. For the first time in
years everything seemed so clear. All this time he spent running after Kagome BEGGING her to come stay with him would finally come to an end. Kouga
straightened his body and breathed the crisp fall air letting it fill his lungs and give him peace. His life was about to get much better, now he just had to figure
out how to execute his plans.
