Disclaimer: I do not own InuYasha, nor make money from this story. |
A/N: Okay everyone, I managed to pound my brains out and produce another chapter.
Amazing what you can do with a sledgehammer and a pen, ain’t it?
Lol, anyway, I don’t know when I’ll get the next one out... I know, the updates for this story have been slower than my other stories, and I’m sorry... can’t be helped right now though! I’ve just reached some of the main peaks in my other stories plots, and I can only write so much at one time... >_<
Anyway, there’s a bit more into the horrendous mind of Naraku in this chapter (which turns out to be a fairly disturbing place to be) so hopefully everyone enjoys that.
-previously_recorded - Lol, oh I don’t worry about sounding insane. I just don’t want to make other people worry. After all, it is the good kind of insanity, and I’m more than happy to be part of it. ^_^ Lol, -- Hm. Well, I disagree-- I never know what t expect from my fellow crazies. But I personally don’t believe a single one of us is sane. You are right though-- you have to watch out for the one’s who masquerade as sane. They’re in denial, and can very easily become unpredictable if pushed too hard. ^_^ Lol, k, I’ll stop now. ^_^ Lol, I’m glad you like Izayoi. ^_^ Alhough I’m sorry to disappoint, but I don’t think there’s interaction between the two in this chapter... Focused on someone else instead. We will become silhouettes? Well, I don’t have lots of time for reading right now (barely got enough time for writing) but I’ll definitely try and check it out. ^_^
Well that’s about all I’ve got to say right now... till next chapter I guess... ^_^

Brood
Naraku frowned darkly as he stared out at the ashen lands surrounding his castle.
Something was not right.
Inuyasha should be back by now.
He knew the boy couldn’t be dead, nor had he run. The charm on his neck would stop him from doing the latter, and the beads would shatter and return to him if the former happened.
‘Naraku?’ The soft, timid voice of the miko reached him, making his lip curl slightly.
He had never loved the woman.
She was beautiful, maybe, but he had never been much of an admirer of beauty.
It had simply been obvious to him that she would hinder him if left to her own devices, but would most definitely produce a strong heir if seduced and brought to that.
Now that he had accomplished all he had desired with the ningen, he had no use left for her.
She was only alive now because Naraku knew Inuyasha would find some way to kill himself if she died.
‘Are you coming to bed, My lord--’ She began, her small hand coming out to touch his shoulder, making his skin crawl at the faint traces of miko powers still flowing through her veins, and he spun around, his hand flying up to connect violently with her cheek with a loud crack, sending the dark haired woman tumbling to the ground.
‘How many times, Midoriko, have I told you not to disturb me as such?’ He demanded of the fallen priestess, who had a hand cupped to her cheek, but was not making any attempts at lashing back, or meeting his eyes.
‘I’m sorry, my lord.’ She said softly. ‘I forgot myself.’
Naraku smirked.
Yes, he had baited, branded and broken the priestess. She was nothing more than a husk of what she had been before.
He doubted she would ever be able to turn back to the wilful, powerful miko he had spent so long seducing and bending to his will.
Satisfied for the moment, he turned back to look at the dismal lands before him.
‘Go to bed, Midoriko. If I choose to join you, then I shall do so.’ He said, keeping his expression deadpan, and his tone cold as he dismissed the priestess.
He heard her soft footfalls as she went back inside, leaving him to brood again.
And, as soon as she was gone, his thoughts turned back to his missing son, his eyes scanning dangerously over the darkened lands before him, almost as though he expected the boy to just pop up at any second in front of him. .
Something had to have happened with Sesshomaru to just make the boy up and vanish like this. Even his hell-wasps could not find the boy, and he had had them scouring the lands for the past two days.
Naraku felt his face darken even more as the thought.
Why did everything he planned with the boy have to go awry?
Inuyasha had been, at birth, quite the magnificent creature to behold, with all his strange and exotic features that he clearly inherited neither from his mother nor his father-- and this fact had only increased tenfold as he had gotten older.
As had Naraku’s desire for the boy.
That was part of the reason he constantly had the hanyou battling-- the boy never looked so good as when he was standing on a battlefield, breathing heavily, eyes wide and shining with either arrogance, or exertion and bloodlust, his body shining with sweat and the spilt blood of his opponent, his ears pressed back in their vain attempts to block out the cries...
Naraku pulled himself out of that thought rather rapidly as he realised the effect it was having on him, mentally cursing again.
He dug his nails sharply into the balcony, leaving deep welts in the stone as small pebbles he had created slipped past his fingers to fall down toward the blackened and bloodied ground like tiny hailstones.
The demon paid this no mind, as he continued glaring savagely out into the night.
He had waited so long for the boy to mature... too long... two hundred human years in fact.
And now, when he could sense the boy’s first heat just around the corner... now was when he had chosen to fail Naraku.
Now was when Inuyasha had chosen to get himself captured and stolen away...
Sighing, Naraku turned and went back inside, sliding the shoji shut behind him as he turned and wandered down toward his son’s room.
He entered quietly, instantly feeling a thrill go through his body as the first traces of the boy’s scent reached his nose.
He pressed it back down into him, suppressed it, as he examined the area around him with a vague sense of satisfaction.
The room around him was clad almost entirely in black and silver, with a few traces of crimson or cobalt to be found every once in a while... if one was really looking for them.
The bed was a different sort than the usual futon’s most rooms were equipped with. Since there was never any need to roll the thing up, the need for it to be convenient to do so was also gone, and it was allowed to be as big and elaborate as Naraku wanted it to be.
Especially big.
He had had it built with legs, so that it was raised several inches off the ground, resting on a wooden frame that had four tall posts at each corner that allowed him to drape heavy black curtains to fall around the edge.
And he had had it built larger than normal as well... because more often then not he ended up spending the night lying next to the boy.
In fact, he didn’t doubt that he had spent more nights lying next to his son than he had his own wife.
And somehow he had held himself back.
Well, that’s not entirely true.
Now that Inuyasha was nearly mature, his scent and appearance were changing as well... becoming much more tempting... much harder to resist... and as of late, more often than not, he found himself unable to resist the urge to run his hands over the hanyou’s lithe body, which usually caused the boy to wake, and stiffen under his touch-- clench his teeth, but still pretend to be unconscious as he so obviously tried to escape the discomfort this caused him. It made Naraku smirk and want to do so much more to him...
Giving a small shake of his head, Naraku drew his attention back toward the room, drawing his attention away from the bed and toward the other pieces of furniture in the room. Which were in very minimal supply.
Only the essentials.
There was a small table places on either side of the head of the hanyou’s bead, and then one for meals in the centre of the room, near the foot of the bed. At the far wall there were two large windows that allowed light from the purplish sky to bleed slowly in and illuminate the room in a fairly sickening manner. Each of said windows had a large, cushioned ledge that had been made wide enough to allow a person to sit upon them.
The windows were more than wide enough for Inuyasha to slip through and escape from, but Naraku was unconcerned with this.
Should the boy be foolish enough to try such a stunt, he would first be faced with a very long drop down onto a field of spear-shaped, jagged rocks that would undoubtedly impale him if landed upon, and he doubted that, even with his amazing leaping ability, Inuyasha would be able to make it over them.
And, should the boy choose to climb, he would encounter a large, overhanging ledge that was nigh on impossible to grip, and would, in the end, cause him to slip down into the rocks.
No, there were no hopes of escape for the boy that way.
Other than those few things, there was only a fireplace, a small wardrobe, and an tiny cell of a room that adjoined this on and was used specifically for bathing.
Well, washing anyway.
Any serious bathing Naraku made certain the boy did with him.
To “make certain he didn’t try and drown himself.”
Not that he really needed an excuse to bathe with the boy.
The hanyou was clearly old enough to understand what he wanted by now, and even if he wasn’t, it wasn’t Naraku’s problem. He knew Inuyasha knew enough already to get what he wanted. And if he didn’t, he would be more than happy to help the boy figure it out just a soon as he got him back.
He didn’t need to ask for permission.
Shifting slightly, he realised that the problem he had developed earlier on the balcony had only increased since he had come in here.
Letting out a slightly agitated sigh, Naraku quickly turned and strode from the room, all but slamming the door behind him as he made his way off down the hall.
Maybe he would join his wife tonight...

Glossary
Naraku - In this fic he’s the demon part of Inuyasha’s heritage (yes, he’s full demon) and really rather sadistic and cruel and... well, actually, I suppose he’s that in the anime too, isn’t he?
Miko - Priestess
Ningen - Human
Midoriko - In the anime she is the priestess whose soul is trapped inside the sacred jewel. In this she is the priestess who is the human part of Inuyasha’s heritage.
“Two Hundred Human Years” - I put that in because Demons and Humans seem to age differently-- kinda like dogs and people. As far as I know, in the anime Inuyasha was 250 years old when Kagome freed him from the tree, yet he only looked to be about fifteen. So, technically 250 (or 200, considering he didn’t really seem to age when he was pinned) human years would be the equivalent of fifteen demon years.
Shoji - Sliding rice paper doors
Hanyou - Half-Demon
