Chapter Ten

“Are we there yet?” Kishi asked from the dragons’ back as he looked at his mother on his father’s cloud “I bored”
“We’ll be landing shortly,” Sesshoumaru answered.
Kagome could barely contain her excitement at seeing her friends after so long. She held tighter to the taiyoukai’s waist as he began to descend just outside the village. Since learning she was pregnant she had noticed the taiyoukai seemed more involved than he had been previously. He often joined her in the gardens, but she was sure that he did it to make sure she wasn’t over doing herself. Though she had to admit, she didn’t mind the extra attention he was giving her. Often when they were together he would put his hand around her waist and settle it on her stomach.
Landing on the ground, Kagome walked over to the dragon as it landed and lifted her son up into her arms. She then petted the dragon and gave her thanks before turning and joining the taiyoukai to walk to the village. At the edge of the village the slayer and monk were there to greet them. The first thing Kagome noticed was that Sango was holding a little boy of about two and looked to be pregnant. She was a little surprised since the slayer had never mentioned having a baby in the letters she sent.
Miroku smiled and waved “been awhile hasn’t it? Kagome, you look wonderful”
“Thanks Miroku” Kagome replied, “you are looking well” she then glanced at Sango “you never told me you had a baby”
Sango laughed, “I wanted to keep it a surprise for when you came to visit”
“Well I’m certainly surprised” she agreed “and I see that your gonna have another one?”
“That’s right” the taijiya grinned “I’m about 7 months”
Kishi looked at the woman from his mother’s arms “you have a baby growing in your tummy?”
Sango nodded “and you must be Kishi, I haven’t seen you since you were a baby. Have you ever grown!”
Kagome looked at her son “this is Sango, she was there when you were born”
He gave a nod and looked at his mother “is your tummy going to get that big too?”
She nodded “most likely”
Miroku’s eyes widened “Kagome, are you pregnant again?”
Nodding again, she laughed a little nervously “yeah I am”
Sango quickly passed her son off to her husband and wrapped her friend in a hug, accidentally trapping Kishi between them “that’s wonderful!”
“Too tight!” Kishi growled as he tried to get out from between the two women.
The women parted, laughing at the young pup. Kagome rubbed his head and the two women gave each other another hug before parting and heading to Kaede’s hut. Once there, Kagome greeted the elderly miko and the small group began talking about what they had been doing since she left. She had asked where Kirara was since she was unused to seeing the fire cat away from the taijiya’s side. Sango had told her that Kirara was doing a small task outside the village as a favor to Kaede. The taiyoukai did not interfere and sat near the door while their son sat next to him, both silent.
“Kagome!” yelled a voice before the kitsune came running in and jumped into her ready arms “you’re here! You’re finally here!”
“Hi Shippo” she laughed as she held him and noticed that he had grown and was at least twice the size he was before “you’ve gotten so big!”
“That’s because I’m not a little kid anymore” he replied, “I’m a teenager now” he sighed and relaxed into her embrace “I really missed you Kagome”
“I missed you too,” she agreed.
Kishi growled and marched over to them, yanking the kitsune out of his mother’s hold and sitting in her lap “my mommy!”
“Kishi!” she said in surprise “that was very mean and rude!"
He looked up at her “you don’t touch him, you’re my mommy!”
Kagome gave a small frown. How was she to deal with this situation?
“Well he certainly loves his mother” Miroku commented with a chuckle as his son yawned to show he was getting sleepy.
Sango gave a nod as she smiled “very possessive” she looked at her own son “better put him off to the corner and let him nap”
The monk nodded “I’ll hold him a little longer before I do”
The young miko sighed “Kishi, if I want to hug Shippo and hold him I’m going to”
“No!” he shouted “my mommy! You don’t touch him!”
“Kishi” she said sternly as she stared at him “that’s enough”
He growled and hit her shoulder “no! you-” he yelped when he was suddenly picked up by the scruff of his shirt.
“You do not hit your mother” Sesshoumaru scolded with a sharp growl, which made his son whimper in fear.
“Sorry” Kishi whimpered “but my mommy-”
“Is visiting” the taiyoukai finished “you will behave yourself and let her”
“Kay” he replied, defeated as he was forced to sit next to his father and watched as the kitsune sat in his mother’s lap again with a fierce glare.
After a moment of silence Kaede was able to start them talking again when she mentioned how much Kishi looked like his father. The others agreed and soon they were talking about the adventures they had when they had been traveling and searching for Naraku while Sango let her young one nap in a corner. At one point Kagome asked where Inuyasha was, but Miroku told her he was checking the area for any rogue demons, which normally took him most of the day. She was a little sad that it looked like she was going to miss him after not seeing him for so long. For hours they talked and Kaede invited the small family to stay for supper, which they accepted. The elder miko cooked supper while the others continued to talk.
“I’m back” a male voice called before the hanyou entered the hut and froze when he saw who was there.
Kagome smiled “hi Inuyasha”
“Kagome” he replied softly.
“He has same hair as me and daddy”
Inuyasha turned his head to see a young boy on his brother’s lap, looking at him with curious eyes. Blue eyes like her and silver hair like him. Was this child what their child would have looked like?
“Kishi, he is your father’s brother” Kagome explained, “his name is Inuyasha, he’s your uncle”
Kishi continued to look at the hanyou “uncle?”
“Yeah, uncle” Inuyasha repeated, quietly and then turned to leave “I’m going out”
“But you just got back” Miroku pointed out with a small smile “plus Kagome has come all this way to visit us, you should join us and visit since we haven’t seen her in so long”
Sango nodded as she held her freshly woken son “and Kaede is almost finished making supper” she spoke as her son reached out towards the half demon.
“I’m not hungry” the hanyou retorted and left.
Kagome frowned as she set Shippo aside before getting up and running out of the hut without even a word or a glance back to anyone. She quickly looked to see Inuyasha hoping on rooftops going towards the forest. Without a second thought she ran after him.
He was faster than her since he was a half demon, but deep down she knew where he went and was happy when she found out she was right. He had gone to the well. She tried to calm her breathing and sighed “Inuyasha” she said calmly as she approached his form as he sat by the well.
He jumped up, startled “Kagome! What are you doing here?”
“Looking for you, silly” she answered with a small smile “why did you leave like that?”
He looked away from her “I didn’t feel hungry”
“Liar” she stated as she walked up to him “even if you weren’t hungry you should have stayed and talked. I haven’t seen you and the others for such a long time” she gave a frown “do you hate me?”
He looked at her in shock “never! I could never hate you” he frowned “I love you” suddenly he felt he couldn’t hold back anymore as he let out what was on his mind “I wanted you to bare my child! I wanted you to be with me”
She gave a sad smile “and I would have been if you had ever made a move. I tried for years to show you I loved you and cared for you, but you never showed you felt the same.”
“That’s not true!” he growled at her.
“We had moments” she consented “and when everything first started we were unsure of our feelings to each other, but deep down we knew what the other felt. Still even though you knew, you continued to go after Kikyo and when she was no longer around you never made any more of a move other than a holding of hands or a hug” she sighed and moved to lean against a tree “you couldn’t have expected me to wait forever for you to be ready to give me more than a simple holding of hands or a hug” she watched his ears flattened as he lowered his head, but she knew he had to hear what she was saying or they could never move on to have a friendship “you would have made me yours instead of always making me wait for you”
Inuyasha stayed silent for a few moments. He knew she was right even if he didn’t want to admit it, she was right. He knew of her feelings for him, but he had continued to play stupid and act like he didn’t notice. In the end his actions had caused him to lose her…and to his brother no less “are you happy with him?”
“I wasn’t in the beginning” she admitted “I was unsure of him and I felt lonely because I did not know him or understand why he wanted me” she smiled “but I can say that since that time I’ve come to have a better understanding of him and have come to even love him”
“I see” his ears flattened even more “as long as you are happy that’s all that matters”
She walked up and wrapped her arms around him “thank you” she then pulled away and looked at him “come back to the hut, I want Kishi to know his uncle”
Giving a sigh, Inuyasha nodded “alright”
Kagome took his hand and together they walked back to the hut. Upon entering the hut they saw Kaede had passed out soup. Seeing they returned, she passed them a bowl as well. Silently they all ate, no one saying a word about the hanyou’s leaving. After it was over, Kagome went out with Kaede to help her wash the dishes while the others resumed talking.
Sango smiled when she saw her son playing with Shippo. She looked at Kishi and saw he was watching the two playing as they began to climb on top of Inuyasha “go ahead and play with them Kishi, they won’t hurt you” chuckling when the pup growled and shook his head, leaning in close to his father. She stood up and moved to leave the hut when she suddenly gasped and clutched the frame of the door.
Miroku was by her side in a second “are you alright?”
“I’m just fine” she laughed “the baby just kicked me a little hard”
Shippo stopped his pulling on the hanyou’s ears and grinned, “can I feel?”
She nodded “sure”
He immediately jumped off the hanyou’s head and ran to touch the taijiya’s stomach “I like feeling the baby kick”
Kishi stared at them a moment “feel the baby kick?”
Miroku gave a nod “when the baby gets to be as big as it is now you can feel the baby kick” he explained “come here and I’ll show you”
The pup looked up to his father for permission and when he got the nod, he stood up and cautiously walked over to them.
Sango gave him a reassuring smile “here, put her hand on my belly, right here” she said as she showed him the side of her stomach.
Hesitantly he reached out and touched the woman’s stomach. For a minute he didn’t feel anything and was about to pull away until he felt a bump hit his hand. He stared at the round belly in shock “was that it?”
“It was,” she confirmed, “what do you think?”
He looked at his father “will the baby kick mommy when it gets this big?”
Sesshoumaru gave a nod “it will”
Kishi looked back at the woman “does it hurt?”
She smiled and shook her head “not a lot, just takes me by surprise because I’m not expecting it”
“Why does it kick?” he asked.
“The baby is moving around and stretching” Miroku answered as he led his wife back in to sit down “making them selves more comfortable”
Inuyasha watched and listened while letting the young toddler sit on his lap. He looked over to his brother “Kagome is pregnant again?”
Kishi smiled at his uncle “mommy is going to have a baby and I’m going to be a big brother!”
“I see” he replied with a sad smile.
The pup stared at his uncle a moment before walking over to him “uncle?”
He looked at the boy “yeah”
“Why you sad?” he asked.
Inuyasha turned his head to face the wall “it’s nothing you will understand”
“Why?”
The hanyou turned back to his nephew “just leave it alone kid”
“But-”
“Leave it be” Sesshoumaru ordered.
Kishi frowned “okay” but quickly forgot about the incident when he saw his mother return with the clean bowls and ran to hug her waist “mommy!”
Kagome smiled as she looked down at him “I wasn’t gone that long”
“I got to feel a baby kick” he exclaimed.
“You did?” she laughed, “was it Sango’s baby?”
He nodded “when your tummy gets that big, can I feel the baby kick?”
She set the bowls down “of course you can” she looked at the taiyoukai and smiled.
Sesshoumaru looked at her “we should leave soon if we are to get back by night fall”
“Alright” she agreed. They had decided to take the dragon and use the taiyoukai’s cloud to travel to the village, but they would use his ball of light to travel to get home as quick as they could so they could rest.
Miroku smiled “it was good to see you again Kagome”
“Next time don’t make us wait so long to see you” Sango commented.
Kagome laughed and nodded “yeah I’ll try not to let it happen again, perhaps next time all of you can come visit us”
“Well we’ll certainly try” the monk agreed then realized “hey, where’s Kaede?”
“Oh she said that she had something to take care of and sent me on ahead” the young miko replied, “I should go and say goodbye to her as well”
The taijiya nodded and stood up “we’ll come with you”
Everyone stood up, including the taiyoukai and together they left the hut. They walked around the village in search of the elderly miko, but could not find her. It was the head villager that told them she was by the bone eaters well, so they headed towards the well. At first they didn’t see anything, but one by one, floating fireballs began to appear.
“What’s going on?” Kagome asked as she held her son close. There she saw Kaede standing next to Kirara and was surprised to see Rin, Naylor, Naomi, Edoksu, Emiko, Ecaro, and a demon she assumed was the southern lord Sanji from his familiar looks, plus the demon she had seen in Sesshoumaru’s office. She was able to get a better look at him and noticed he was tall with light purple eyes, dark long purple hair. His skin was nearly snow white and he had black claws. She was confused to see everyone “what is all this?”
The demon bowed “my lady, we were unable to be introduced last time. My name is Kotu”
“Um, hi” she said awkwardly “so can someone please explain what is going on?”
Emiko smiled “well we’re here to bare witness to Sesshoumaru finally making you his mate official”
Kagome’s eyebrows drew together in confusion as the information she received went over her head “huh?”
Naomi laughed “it’s the ceremony of him taking you as his mate”
She blushed “oh” and looked up at Sesshoumaru “why didn’t you tell me?”
Edoksu chuckled “don’t you like a surprise, Kagome?”
She gave a nod “yes, but this is…well I don’t know what to say”
Sesshoumaru leaned his head towards her ear and spoke low “then say you’ll allow me to make you my mate officially”
“Yes” she answered him with a smile.
Kotu laughed loudly “then lets get started” he stared at the couple “my lord, my lady, if you would please come before me” waiting until they were before him, he then spoke in a clear voice so all could hear him “we are gathered this evening to witness the mating ceremony of the western lord, Sesshoumaru and his desired mate, Kagome”
Kagome felt a blood rush to her cheeks and turning it a nice red. Was she dreaming? Was this really happening? She looked at Sesshoumaru as he gazed at her; he was really making this official?
Kotu looked to the other lords “lord of the north, south, and east, will you accept the west’s choice in mate?”
Naylor nodded his head “I do”
Edoksu nodded as well “I do”
Sanji glared, but gave a nod “I will”
“Then lady Kagome do you accept Lord Sesshoumaru as your mate?” Kotu asked.
“Yes” she replied, her voice showing her nervousness.
Kotu gave her a comforting smile “then I ask that you bare your neck to him you submit”
Kagome gave a nervous nod as she pulled back her hair to show off her neck. She watched as the taiyoukai’s eyes became red as he stared at her neck.
“Lord Sesshoumaru” Kotu gave a slight bow “do you accept lady Kagome as your mate and for her to bare your children?”
He said nothing, but gave a nod.
“Then to complete the bond between mates, I’ll have you taste her blood and have her bare your mark”
Sesshoumaru took a step forward and leaned his head down to her exposed throat. He placed his arm around her to hold her steady as he bit her hard enough to break the skin, but not enough to cause her to bleed uncontrollably. He removed his fangs and licked the blood that escaped her wound until it stopped bleeding before raising his head, but kept his arm around her.
She looked at him and gave a soft “ow” before passing out in his arm.
“Mommy!” Kishi cried in fright.
Naomi quickly placed a hand on his shoulder “she’s alright, it happens”
“But mommy” he spoke, near tears.
“Naomi is right” Emiko agreed as she came beside the boy “she’ll wake up in a minute, all this was just a little overwhelming”
Kishi looked at the women, unconvinced, but he didn’t approach.
True to their words, Kagome opened her eyes. They were a little unfocused, but after she blinked they cleared up and she stared at Sesshoumaru with an embarrassed smile “hi”
Kotu gave a small chuckle, but continued, “it has been done. Let it be known that Lord Sesshoumaru has taken a mate and she is to be known as lady of the western lands. The first born male will be heir to the lands and that the other lands accept the west’s choice”
Kagome turned her head to look at her friends as they clapped. Her head was forced to face the taiyoukai when he took hold of her chin. She looked at him, curious as to what he wanted, gasping in shock when he leaned forward and placed a kiss on her lips. Never did she think he would do something…intimate in front of others, but she had to say, she liked it.
“This concludes the ceremony” Kotu finished, then laughed, “pretty boring wasn’t it?”
Naylor chuckled “most stuff is when it comes to lords and duties…even ceremonies”
“True, but they’re necessary,” Emiko smiled.
Kishi quickly ran over to his mother as his father released her “mommy!”
Kagome turned just as he ran into her embrace “hi Kishi”
“I was scared,” he admitted as he held her tight “I thought you died”
“I’m sorry if I scared you” she apologized as she picked him up “I didn’t mean to”
He gave a nod as he wrapped his arms around her “don’t do again”
“I’ll try”
Sango walked up to her as the taiyoukai left to speak with the other lords. She also saw Rin walk over to the western lord to greet him “congratulations Kagome”
She smiled “thanks, though I wasn’t expecting this”
Miroku chuckled “we’ll we were told not to tell you”
“Who told you not to tell?” she asked.
“It was in the letter Sesshoumaru sent us,” the slayer mentioned
Kagome’s eyes widened “letter Sesshoumaru sent you?”
Kaede nodded “yes, we received it yesterday. I must say we weren’t expecting it”
“I can imagine” the young miko admitted, “this was very unexpected”
“Are you happy Kagome?” Sango asked as Kirara came purring around her legs before walking for to the miko’s
She gave a nod as she picked up the fire cat “yeah I am” she smiled when Naomi and Emiko came over to chat. Together the girls talked for a few minutes.
“Kagome!” Rin called as she ran over.
“Hi Rin!” she exclaimed happily “I haven’t seen you in so long”
“I know” the girl agreed, “I’ve come to enjoy staying in the village”
Kagome wasn’t blind; she saw the blush that appeared on the girl’s face “would there be a boy in the village that’s worth staying in the village for?”
Rin’s blush darkened “y-yes”
Putting Kirara down, she wrapped the girl in a hug “okay, details!”
Miroku placed a hand on the pup “this is where we depart”
He looked up at the monk “why?”
“Because they’re going to start chatting like a bunch of hens” Inuyasha said as he approached them “better to be with other males talking then girls”
“So we’re going to go join daddy?”
Rin’s eyes widened as she stared at the little pup “is that Sesshoumaru-sama’s son?”
Kagome nodded “it is, Kishi this is Rin. She used to travel with your father” she then narrowed her eyes “and don’t think you’re getting out of telling me about this guy in the village”
She blushed “o-oh”
“So come on, details”
“And we leave now” Miroku commented as he lead the pup over to the other lords with the hanyou following along side him.
The taijiya got to know the north and east lady while Kagome interrogated Rin about the man in the village that had come to her attention. While the woman talked the men conversed in their group as well. Naylor took the time to get to know his half-breed nephew and learn how he and his companions knew Kagome. Miroku talked with Edoksu and Ecaro about the adventures and the defeat of Naraku while Sanji discussed the possible trading of supplies with Sesshoumaru. Kishi was found with the eastern lord and his son; listening to the monk tell stories of his mother and the many adventures she had.
Soon the sun was setting and the southern lord was first to say his goodbye though it was very quick and abrupt. The northern lord and lady left next followed by the eastern lord and his family. The western lord then gathered up his family and Kagome said her goodbyes to her friends with promises to see each other all again sooner next time around rather than a four year wait. Once the goodbyes and promises of visits were given, the family was off and back to the west.

When Kagome became four months pregnant she developed the morning sickness. Often she could be seen running from wherever she had been to make it to the bathroom to lose whatever meal she had eaten, normally breakfast. There had been a few times when she couldn’t make it and servants were left to clean up the mess, which made the miko upset that they had to clean up her mess. The taiyoukai had to continue to reassure her that she was lady of the west and it would not be proper if she were seen cleaning up such a vile mess even if she did make it. Through all this, Kishi voiced his complaints about his mother being sick and had begun to blame the baby growing in her womb. Kagome made many attempts to explain to him that it was normal and that she had even been sick with him, but for some reason it only solidified his thoughts that the baby was to blame.
“My lady are you alright?” a servant asked.
Kagome groaned as she clutched the frame of the shoji door “I’ll be fine if I could hold down my meals”
“Is there anything I can get you?”
She shook her head “no, thank you. I’ll be alright” she waved the servant off and walked to the taiyoukai’s study. She gave a knock and heard him telling her to enter. Opening the shoji she was startled to see Edoksu standing there “oh hello”
“Greetings Kagome, it is good to see you” he frowned as he took in her pale appearance and weak figure “you look unwell”
“Don’t feel well” she agreed and looked at the taiyoukai “know of anything I can take for it?”
“Go see the healer and have him give you some herbs that will help” he answered as he stared at her.
“I’ve taken herbs before and it never worked” she replied.
He gave a nod “those weren’t the right herbs to help you”
She sighed, “okay I’ll give it a try” she smiled at the eastern lord “are you staying long?”
“Just here to discuss some matters” he replied with a smile.
“He will be joining us for supper” Sesshoumaru commented.
Kagome smiled “then I’ll let you two get back to work and I’ll see you later”
“Very well, we’ll see you later” Edoksu agreed.
With a nod she let herself out and walked to the healer’s room. On the way there Yomi and Kishi met up with her and once they learned where she was going they followed her the rest of the way. Kagome noticed how her son had narrowed his eyes when he looked at her stomach and frowned. She did not want her son to grow up hating his siblings like Sesshoumaru did with Inuyasha, but with that immediate thought she remembered her dream with the taiyoukai where he had explained that he had had no real hatred for his brother. It was to keep him strong enough to live to become an adult. She would have to remember to ask Sesshoumaru if what he had told her then was true or false. Till then she would have to deal with her son and make sure he didn’t grow up hating his siblings.
Kagome entered the healer’s room and explained why she was there. The healer had smiled and left to get her some herbs to help her stomach. She turned her head to see her son still glaring and pulled him close to her “you know this baby is coming whether you want it to or not”
“I don’t like it anymore” he stated “its making you sick”
“It’ll pass eventually” she replied, “it did with you”
He growled, “still don’t like it, you’re sick because of it”
She frowned and knelt down beside him “but you know, it’s not the baby’s fault. It’s so small right now and it can’t help what its doing. A lot of mommies when they get pregnant get sick like this”
“They do?” he questioned, but didn’t look totally convinced.
She nodded and gave him a smile “yup, my mom was sick when she was pregnant with me and with my little brother, plus I’m sure Sango was sick when she was pregnant with her son and with the baby she has in her tummy now. It’s just a natural thing to happen and it doesn’t last forever”
“It doesn’t?” he wondered.
“Nope, it’s just different with every pregnancy” she answered “some don’t get sick, some are sick for their whole pregnancy, and some only for a little bit”
“I still don’t like the baby for making you sick” he stated.
Kagome sighed and frowned “well that makes me sad to hear that. I was hoping you’d be happy to be a big brother and would want to help me take care of the baby”
He placed a hand on her shoulder “don’t worry I’ll help mommy, but I still don’t like the baby”
“Here you go my lady,” the healer said as he returned and gave her a jar of the herbs “just put this in your water and it will help settle your stomach”
She gave a nod “thank you”
He gave a small bow “any time my lady” he looked over at the young pup “if I may speak with you young lord”
Kishi looked at his mother who gave a nod and turned back to the healer “okay”
“It will only be a moment” he assured as he lead the pup away from his mother’s hearing range and had him sit down in a chair “young lord I couldn’t help over hearing your talk with your mother. You are not happy about the pup she has within her?”
He growled “no, its’ making mommy sick”
“You know your mother is right, it’s not the little pup’s fault” he said “its so small right now and it has no idea what is going on”
“Why not?” he asked.
The healer smiled “because it cannot see anything. Its in a dark place, growing until its’ big enough to come out” when the pup was silent for a few minutes, he continued “and when the pup is big enough to play, guess who they are going to want to play with?”
Kishi raised an eyebrow “who?”
“You” he answered with a chuckle “and they’ll want to talk to you about things that they feel like they may not be able to tell mommy and daddy. You see, you have a very big role in the pup’s life. They’re going to look to you for a lot of things just like they will with your parents”
“They will?” he asked, curious.
The healer straightened his back “of course they will, you’re going to be the big brother”
Still curious and a bit confused about the idea, he asked, “what is a big brother to do?”
“Well I have a big brother” he mentioned “and he played games with me and when I had a bad day and my parents were too busy to talk to, I talked to him. If I got bullied by other kids, he protected me” he leaned forward “see because sometimes you’re going to see things happening that your parents might not see. So you can help protect them just like your parents protect you”
“I have to protect them?” he wondered.
He nodded “of course, they won’t be as strong as you and they’ll need you to help them. Being a big brother is a very important role, do you think you can do it?”
Kishi glared and nodded his head “I can do it!”
“That’s great to hear,” he said as he stood up “think you can start your job right now?”
“But the baby isn’t here yet” the pup declared.
The healer chuckled “I know, but there’s things you can do now”
He raised an eyebrow “like what?”
“If you see your mother is getting tired, tell her to get some rest” he explained, “her tummy is going to start getting bigger and she’ll start having a harder time like sitting down or reaching for something. That’s where having you will be helpful, you can help her get the stuff she can’t” he started to lead the boy back to his mother and guard “and I’m sure she can think of plenty she’ll need your help with when the baby is born as well”
“Really?”
“Sure” he smiled “after all, you’ll be a big brother”
Kishi looked at his mother as they stopped in front of her “mommy, will that baby really look up to me?”
She knelt down and hugged him “of course” she looked at him “I’ll need you to help the baby if I’m not there and you will be someone to play with if I’m too busy to play” he stayed silent for a few moments and she could tell he was really thinking “so will you give the baby a chance? Might end up being your best friend”
After another minute of thinking he gave a small nod “okay, I’ll try”
She hugged him again “I’m so happy to hear that” she pulled away “now, want to come help me make this herb so I can stop being sick for awhile?”
He smiled and nodded “yes”
“Okay then let’s go” she said as she stood up and together they all left the room.
At supper that night, Kagome was feeling much better than she had since the morning sickness started and she was more than happy to be able to eat and not have to worry about losing her meal. Edoksu had commented as well that she looked a great deal better than she had before and was happy that she was feeling better.
“I helped mommy put the herb in her cup” Kishi commented, happily.
Edoksu chuckled “that’s good to hear that you’re helping your mother out when she isn’t feeling well”
He grinned “I’m going to help mommy with everything and I’m going to be a great big brother!”
“Well that’s good news to hear” the eastern lord continued to chuckle “I’m sure your mother is happy to know that she can count on you when she has a baby again”
“Yomi said that the baby will come in…5 more months,” he said as he held out five fingers.
Edoksu had still been chuckling to himself until he heard the pup’s words. Instantly he froze, eyes wide before he looked up at his young little cousin “did you say five months?”
He nodded “yeah, that’s what Yomi said” he looked at his mother “how long is five months?”
“It’s awhile,” she answered.
“Five months?” Edoksu repeated, still shocked “that would mean…Kagome, you’re pregnant again?”
Blushing, she gave a nod and eyed her plate “yes I am”
He gave a small, but loud laugh “what wonderful news!” he thought for a second “but that would mean you were pregnant at the ceremony”
She gave another nod “I was”
“Sesshoumaru!” he growled lightly to his cousin as he turned his head “why didn’t you say anything then?”
“My business is my own” Sesshoumaru replied.
Edoksu turned back to Kagome “why didn’t you say anything to Emiko or Naomi?”
She gave a nervous laugh “well it’s just the ceremony took me by surprise and then I wanted Emiko and Naomi to meet Sango and it just never crossed my mind at the time”
“Well…” the eastern lord chuckled “what a nice surprise for me to hear and I must say congratulations” he looked over at the young pup “Kishi, you make sure you’re a good boy and help your mother out with whatever she needs”
The pup smiled and nodded “I will”

By the time Kagome was seven months pregnant she was looking like she was big enough to pop. Her morning sickness was gone much to the happiness of her son, but she now had developed an appetite. She could never seem to be full and she would crave the strangest things…well strange to the people of the feudal era. Ice cream was her biggest craving, but along side it she would want pickles and pretzels at the same time, but those things didn’t exist in the time she was in. She had become more emotional as well, being angry about something she couldn’t have and then crying later about being angry over something that couldn’t be helped.
Sango had sent a letter saying that she had given birth to a beautiful baby girl and couldn’t wait for Kagome to see her. They taijiya hoped that the miko was having an easy pregnancy and that all was well with her. Kagome had sent a reply that she was fine and congratulated her and Miroku on their newest addition to the family.
Kishi had come to once again enjoy the fact his mother was pregnant and was rarely seen from her side now. He could be seen often touching his mother’s stomach and listening to the baby’s heartbeat. The pup helped with whatever he could and whenever he noticed his mother was tired he would demand she rest. She would give a small laugh, but she did as he said so that he could feel like he was helping her and in most cases she did need the rest.
Sesshoumaru had begun spending his lunches with his mate instead of in his study like he usually did. Along with spending more time with her, he had become more even more affection than previous. Frequently he would rub his hand over her stomach and could even be caught knelt down next to her, listening to his pup’s heartbeat next to his son. He had also become more guarded and protective of his mate the closer she came to the due date and more strict about who he allowed near her. The only servants he allowed near his mate now were some of the older ones that his mate got along with and only the one guard Yomi.
Edoksu had spread word to Naylor that Sesshoumaru was to become a father once again and both of their mates were so excited they sent Kagome many letters of invites to their homes so they may see the new addition when it made its appearance. Everyone was happy for the news and they could barely contain themselves as the time drew near.

Author note: Well there we go! How did you all like it?I wanted to put this chapter up a lot sooner, but work finally gave me the hours I was bugging for plus they put me in a brand new position so I have a lot to try and remember. Then I was gonna put this story up yesterday, but my brothers (twins) turned 18 yesterday and we all went to the bar.
