During that week or so in the Western Palace, everyone had pretty much settled in. Sesshoumaru was still being a broody puppy. He had been pretty upset that his aunt had decided to go to the North. He understood sure, that she wanted to be with her son but to move to the North? He was never going to be able to see her, it was bad enough his father always seemed so busy! It seemed a lot of BS to him that Izayoi wanted to have his permission to mate with his father. What did it really matter in the long run what his options were he was thinking. They were adults after all and could do what they wished. At the moment, he would be sitting outside in one of their gardens silently brooding not caring if anyone was watching him.
Toga sighed, he could tell Sesshoumaru was upset. It wasn’t hard, his puppy tended to pout, well silently. He was watching his son from his office, he was just getting some paperwork done so that he could be spending some time with his family but he was far too worried about his pup at the moment to really focus.
Izayoi was in the kitchen that morning, and she had noticed that Sesshoumaru was brooding, so she was making donuts, they were fluffy, fried in venison fat, covered with sugar. They were amazing smelling, and she had brought a plate to Sesshoumaru, along with a letter from his aunt. "Sesshoumaru?" she cooed softly, moving to stand near him. She'd never been in this garden before. She didn’t know it was right under Toga’s window. “I brought you a treat.” she said softly.
Sesshoumaru glanced up at Izayoi a moment “Oh. Thanks…” he muttered. He really didn’t go to grab anything off the plate. It did smell very good to him though. He half wanted to call her out with trying to win him over but that didn’t feel quite like the situation...even if he’d only known her such a short time it wasn’t hard to tell.
Izayoi smiled sadly. “I also have a letter for you, from your aunt, it just came in the mail today.” she told him softly. “You know...your papa is working very hard in his office so that he can spend time with you tonight.” she said gently. “He works quite a bit doesn’t he? I’ve noticed you’ve spent a lot of your time alone.” she said.
Sesshoumaru sighed he didn’t go for the letter, even if he would read it later. “Yes” he answered her “Father has always worked...he invited my aunt and or my grandmother quite a bit to stay with us so I wouldn’t be lonely” he explained to her. From where he sat, he was surrounded by so many colored flowers. He was practicing a slight levitation so that they wouldn’t be squashed by him. “The West used to be how the East is...over run by ogres...cats...it was a lawless land so he has to work hard to maintain it how it is now “
Izayoi smiled and set the treats down, they were even coated in honey, she moved to the flowers, and knelt down. gently she brushed her hand over said flowers. “This garden is beautiful.” she said. “Im sorry your father isn’t around, but I’m sure that it is better for everyone this way, even if it doesn’t seem better for us. she assured him. “Have you practiced much with Mika lately?”
Sesshoumaru shook his head “Not too much...I have not felt too well” he told her. He had been so stressed out he hadn’t wanted to do much. Part of the reason for brooding outside was to actually cool off. Normally, he was quite content and the palace stayed cool or warm during the summer and winter months respectfully. In fact he was sniffling right then as they were talking and had a low fever going. He moved to get up but a wave of dizziness would wash over him and he would have to sit back down. “Nn..” he wasn’t feeling well at all and would clutch his head to stop everything from spinning. Sometimes, due to high stress young Inus his age would get sick from it and it could get worse, a lot worse. In fact many had died from it.
Toga, who had been watching could see the signs and his eyes widened. HE would push the window open further and leap out of it. Screw going through doors, his puppy needed help! “Sesshoumaru!” he called to him. This was bad, this was so bad!
Izayoi moved to crouch down next to Sesshoumaru and gently put her hand on his cheek. "You are burning up puppy." she said, but the rest of his body was cold. She took off her robe, and put it around the boy. When Toga got down there she gazed at him and said "I think the pup has got a bit of a cold." she said gently. But when he freaked out about it, she blinked. All the signs just said it was a cold. To humans, nothing big, in fact she’d made a remedy that would take care of it instantly. “Toga?” she asked, pulling the sick pup in her arms. “...What’s wrong…?” she asked, gazing down at Sesh.
Toga sighed deeply “It is not a common cold” he told her as he too touched his pups head. A fever already was a horrible sign. “It is a sickness that affects young pups his age at times when they are far too stressed…” he explained. At this moment, what could he do? He had nothing to help him! “Come lets get him inside” he told her scooping up his pup and taking him from her. He honestly didn't know how to help...at this point, he may lose him! Unfortunately there wasn’t a cure, but he couldn’t bring himself to say it outloud, it was dying in this throat.
Izayoi was rather confused, she sighed though, and decided that she would just try to support toga for then, he seemed so sure it wasn't just a cold, but she grabbed the plate she’d brought, and the letter, and followed her future mate into the castle. They moved to the infirmary, where they set Sesh down. Izayoi would have to tell Kaze not to go in there at all. “Is there something I can do to help?” she asked TOga softly.
Toga was quiet as he pulled the extra blankets around his pup to help him. He even placed Izayoi’s robe around him so that he could have that extra bit of warmth. He would gently lead her out of the room and close the door behind him to speak with her quietly. “...There is nothing we can do” he told her. “Puppies get sick like this...some…..die” he explained. He was upset sure but what could he do. “There is no cure for this….there has never been” he said. “Until they reach about 200….there is always reason to worry”
Izayoi nodded slowly. "I'm sorry Toga." she whispered. "Why don't you go and spend time with your son alright?" she asked. "I'll leave you be for awhile, tell Kaze what is going on." she told him. Perhaps her son could help her...she was going to make her tea, the stuff that cured humans colds, but she had to make sure the ingredients were okay for pups. "Will you be alright here?" she asked.
Toga sighed and nodded he would be alright. “Go on, I’ll be alright” he assured her. He was just going to stay with his pup...and hoped that the fever would go down and that he would be able to pass it. Because if he didn’t….he had no way of reviving his son from the dead. Had given Totosai his own fang to be able to make two swords out of it but it took time, and for what he wanted, a good amount. He would just go and slip back into the room with his puppy.
It was only a few moments later that Izayoi would find herself in the room with Kaze. “Dear, Sesshoumaru has that...illness, with no cure...that’s like...a human cold.” she said softly. “I have a cure for the cold, I wish to try it on him.” she said, moving to her chest, and taking out a piece of parchment. “The third remed.” she said.
Kaze put down his book to go help his mother. “That’s not good mother” he told her. “It comes from a lot of stress” he said. He remembered reading about that. He had gotten his hands on many of the books there in the Western Library and read quite handful of them in only a few days. “I don’t know if a simple remedy will help him, there have never been a cure before” he said. “But I will look for you..” he offered.
Izayoi smiled. “Thank you, I’m going to go to the garden to gather what i need.” she said as she left the room. “Please look over it right away, I’ll be back in 20 minutes.” she said.
Izayoi was true to her word, and had a handful of plants when she returned, it was a pretty complex cure, and she got out a very old fashioned grinding bowl, and started to grind only the petals of the blooming flowers. “What did you find out?” she asked.
Kaze had gathered all the books he could find that he felt would be good on the subject, and had poured over at least ten books. “There’s only a few passages in here” he told her, showing her a medical book that was about Inus specifically “Let’s see, it says that young puppies of typically one or sometimes two parents will sometimes fall ill with flu like symptoms due to high amounts of stress or sudden dramatic changes to the environment. Fever, dizziness...nausea which are the first stages, the second stage, nausea, vomiting..loss of appetite..and then in the final stage most often it will lead to death” he read to her. “THere is at the time, regrettably no known cure...parents typically give up on said pup to focus on stronger children” he made a face at this. “That’s horrible!”
Izayoi was tenderly grinding the flowers. “Hm, that is terrible. How old are you again?” she asked him, raising an eyebrow. She wanted to make sure she didn’t have to deal with this, she added another petal and the mixture became bright blue, and another, and it began smoking.
Kaze’s ears folded back, he didn’t want to get that either. “110 mother” he said. That was still pretty young them. Even if it seemed pretty old for a human. They aged roughly 10 years for every one human year and was only about eleven but it would start to slow down when they got older.
Toga came in then, having been dealing with his pup practically smelled of this. “Sesshoumaru is getting worse!” he told her. He would try anything at this point and had sniffed her out to find if she had anything in mind. At least, something like this wasn’t contagious.
Izayoi had just finished grinding the herbs, and poured it into a clay teapot. She moved to the bucket of water they kept by the bed, and added water to the smoking paste. "Kaze I don't want you getting near Sesshoumaru." she told him softly. "And Toga, calm down, you are just going to scare him more...Sesshoumaru that is." she said. She took the pot, and a cup, made from the same, old clay, and said "I'm going to go see him." she said. She left the room, she didn’t know if Toga was following.
Toga was right behind her, but it was just him, Kaze was staying there like he had been told to. Toga had no idea what she was going to do with the herbs that she had made. It didn’t smell the greatest to him but anything like that probably wouldn’t smell the best. “Do you really think that will help?” he called after her, sure he hoped so but he wanted a little assurance!
Izayoi wasn’t running, the tea needed time to mix properly. “I don’t know.” she said gently. Really what choice did she have. She walked into the room, and shut the door behind her, not letting toga into the room as she moved up to Sesshoumaru. She put the teapot down, they had to wait, until the smoke turned green. She moved, not afraid of his sick, to the bed, and petted his hair softly. She was sending a very calm aura his way.
Sesshoumaru’s fever had flared more so than when he had taken him inside. “...What..is that?” he asked her. He couldn’t smell it, it was like being partially blind. He was so used to identifying things through smell since the day that he was born so to not have that sense anymore was scary to him. He felt horrible enough already, but he calming aura was comforting...he hadn’t felt something like that in a while.
“It’s just some tea.” she said softly. It was smoking a red color, so in five minutes...She sighed and continued to pet him. “It will be alright.” she said in her soft tones. “Nothing to be scared of Sesshoumaru.” she whispered. She sighed. “How do you feel?” she asked, she’d wondered if he’d thrown up and that was why Toga was so scared.
He sighed “Not well” he told her. “Your aura is comforting though” he said. He didn’t feel scared of dying but it was a scary situation. However, he hadn’t had time to stop himself before he would get sick again. He hadn’t meant to be aiming anywhere, it was bad enough he already had stuff on himself and would get some on her on accident. He couldn't control himself, at least it wasn’t coming out the other end too.
Izayoi didn't seem too fazed, she just kind of laughed awkwardly. "I'm glad that you find me comforting." she said, standing up and taking out her outer robe, at least she had her 'underwear' on under it. She didn't mind though, and pulled the blankets where his sick was aside. "Hm, the tea is done." she said calmly. She poured the tea into the cup and moved to him. It might just save him, but he’d probably remain sick for awhile. Since he was so bad, “Can you take it?” she asked. “Or would you like help?”
Sesshoumaru was just glad she had something underneath that. He would reach for the cup she had offered him and his hands would shake from the fever. At least he hadn’t taken it from her quite yet. “Perhaps...some help” he said glancing at the blankets. He felt like such a helpless pup. He had never had anything like it before. “Is there a reason you stopped father from coming in?” he asked her.
SHe nodded. She put the tea to his lips. She was glad that he was actually taking things from her. Gently she poured the medicine down his throat. “Because I don’t know how this will work.” she said. “But it was the only thing I could think of.” she said softly.
He wasn’t entirely sure if he understood exactly why but he supposed it was a good enough answer. He made a slight face at the taste but he would lay back down anyways. Thankfully, the blankets were thick enough that he didn’t have to continue to lay in his own sick. “Izayoi...did….father ask you to make that?” he asked her.
She helped him finish the tea, and when he asked his question she shook his head. “No he didn’t.” she said. “He’s been working so much I don’t think he even know that I can make some remedies.” she said. They hadn’t gotten much of a chance to talk or be together. THat was alright though. “Why?” she asked, going back to petting him gently, really she was checking for fevers.
He didn’t seem to mind that she was touching him, he felt very drained anyways and wouldn’t stop her. He had expected to have made it because his dad had asked her to not because she had just acted on her own to do it. “You do not know me well...you did not have to” he said. If it were anyone else...any demon woman he felt that had no relation to him there was no emotional attachment.
As the fever started to go down, she could feel it starting to break after all, Izayoi smiled. "You are such a strong puppy." she whispered. "There has been so much change and you are doing so well." she praised him in her gentle tones. "I know you aren't fond of me, but I am proud of you, and happy that you accept Kaze into your life." All of this was said in soft tones. “And I know that I didn’t have to, but I didn’t want to see you suffer so.” she told him gently. “You are just a puppy after all.” she cooed.
He sighed, she was proud? She didn’t know him. “I don’t see why I shouldn't like him or accept him, he is sweet...even if he’s shy” he said. “...You are...sweet too” he said. “Don’t think this one hasn’t noticed” he told her. He might as well. He was feeling very relaxed at the moment and being petted was making him want to fall asleep. “Though, I am not your puppy...you didn’t have to do that. IF I was not here you would have a straight shot at father, you said it yourself you were waiting on my approval” he pointed out.
Izayoi smiled and cooed "Why don't you let out your beast, it will help you heal faster, even if you are just sleeping." she said. "And no, you are not my puppy, but maybe someday you will be close to my puppy...like Kaze is." she cooed gently. “And I don’t need a straight shot to your father, that makes it boring.” she teased. “Not to mention, I’d rather you be here to make sure that I’m what's best for him, and you too, before I can just come in here.” she said, smiling softly.
Sesshoumaru would let his beast out so that he could start to heal faster as she had suggested. At least then, part of him could rest so when his eyes bled over his said. “...You would have never heard another female demon say anything like that” he told her. “But father cares about you...and that is all that matters to me…” he told her. “He needs to be happy….”
Nodding, Izayoi smiled. "I know, but that is a main difference between Demons and humans, we are able to let our feelings out...whenever we wish." she said softly. She even leaned over to him and licked his cheek, like a mother would to her pup. “What about you Sesshoumaru, you must be happy as well.” she cooed. “What would make you happy?”
Sesshoumaru blinked when she licked him but he smiled a bit after. It was sweet. “You know what would be nice…” he said “If you could get father to stop working so much” he said. “Even if it is not time spent with me, just for him to be available…would make me happy” he said. That was all he wanted. He just wanted the time if he wished it, not having to wait for it.
Izayoi nodded. "I'll talk to him alright?" she asked. "Now, you need one more cup of tea, then to rest." she told him softly, helping him with another cup. “We won’t bring you back to your room yet, but I’ll make some more sweets and bring them for when you wake.” she told him fondly. “Alright? Are you feeling better?”
Sesshoumaru nodded, between talking to her and the tea, he was feeling a bit better “Yeah...at least I can start smelling again” and he didn’t feel so nauseous anymore. He didn’t mind staying there he was ready to doze off anyways. It was the second time she had offered him sweets and he gave a nod at that. He adored sweet things.
Izayoi smiled and said “Alright, goodnight Sesshoumaru.” she said, slipping out of the door, looking at Toga who was still standing there. “He will be okay.” she told him.
Toga breathed out a sigh of relief. Seemed that medicine had really helped his pup, he didn’t realize, that it was also her calming aura, and the fact that she actually had gone in there and helped to calm him down had helped too. “Good, I’m glad” he said.
Izayoi smiled. “Yes, But Toga...you know that this could happen again right? He thinks that you don’t have time for him...he needs to be able to go into your office and talk with you without you brushing him off.” she said. “This has been hard for him...and we have to do what we can to help the boy adjust.”
Toga sighed “It seems I cannot continue it by himself…” he agreed. “I suppose I will have to find someone to go through all of it...unfortunately such things I cannot put aside.” he said. “But for him...there is no choice in the matter, I will not lose my puppy” he said. He would have to send a letter to totosai, to see if he was done with his swords. Nothing like that would happen again and just in case something horrible did happen...he would be ready. “No matter what”
She smiled gently and said "You know who might like to help you is my pup." she said. "He has a knack for understanding things." she said gently. “And as a former slave, he likes feeling useful, and as long as he’s not run into the ground, I feel it would be a good place for him.” she said. “What do you think?” she asked as they walked towards her room again.
He nodded “Alright, I’ll ask him, sounds fine to me” he said. “I feel Mika would be good to handle the army, she is pretty good at ordering the men around, especially in her male form” he said. So really if Kaze could help him with the work, and Mika with the army, he would have a good chunk of his time open to be with his pup...start working on a relationship with Izayoi...it’d be good. “With both those covered I’ll be out of a job” he was kidding of course.
She chuckled. “Yes, but the children will love having a purpose.” she said. “And you know...don’t you, that I don’t mind your work?” she asked. She didn’t mind being second base, but really they’d not spent any time together since she’d gotten there at all. She was quite sad but only because of that.
He sighed. “Well...how about we forget about work” he said. “We could have a big get together here? After Sesshoumaru is better of course” he said. “Perhaps...you and I could sneak out for the night” he suggested. He wanted to spend time with her, it wasn’t that, he had a lot on his mind though. “After all, if courting goes well” or in their case actually happens for them “That we will have many reasons to celebrate”
She smiled and nodded. “A get together sounds lovely.” she said. “Though it’s likely nobody will like me.” she said softly. “But, that is fine.” she said. “And oh Toga we don’t have to go out tonight.” she said. “I would hate to take you away from anything important.
If she didn’t want to that was alright but he could get things set up for an evening for everyone. “That’s not true…” he told her. Really she didn’t know who would support them being a couple out of his allies or among the Lord and Ladies of the lands. “Sesshoumaru needs rest, and I feel horrible for not spending time with you” he said. “I want to, believe me I do...I figured at first you needed time to settle in with your boy... “
She shook her head. “Dont worry, I know things have been busy.” she said. She wondered how much time he really thought she needed. But it was okay. “Look, I’m not worried about it Toga.” she said. “There will be plenty of time...for us eventually.” she told him. She didn’t want to force him into spending time with her, though the way she was saying it she didn't realize was more like rejection.
He shook his head “It does not matter, I have not been attentive to anyone and it is inexcusable” he said. “I wish to make it work between us, and I cannot simply spend all day worrying about one thing” he continued on. It didn’t matter to him what others thought or if she was okay with putting herself last. He wanted to try and balance everyone’s time equally and he could. He just hadn’t yet. “There will be time because I will make it...you are not going to give up on me yet right?”
Izayoi rose an eyebrow at him. “Of course I’m not going to give up on you.” she said gently. “I just saved your son from a painful death, why else would I do that if I were not committed to this. I just, well in my world women and men have little to do with each other, even as mates...so it isn’t that big a deal, we could never talk, and it would be normal to me.” she said.
Frankly, Toga figured that their relationship aside, she would go out of the way to save his pup because she was a sweet caring woman like that. But he didn't say this. "Well that isn't how it is here" he said. “I would wish us to be with one another and not see you as a bit of property” he said. Really it was strange to him that human males did that to their mates. “That wouldn’t be right...when you become my mate, and become the Lady of the West..I would like us to be on even grounds”
Izayoi sighed. “Toga really, it isn't a big deal right now.” she said. “And besides, I told your puppy that we wouldn’t mate unless we got his blessing. I know that you are trying, but get things set with the kids and Sesshoumaru and what not first, figure out what I will have to do if I become the lady of the west...and then, maybe we will have time to spend with one another.” she said, turning from him, seemingly leaving, but she was just going to the kitchen.
Toga had to wonder if Izayoi was upset with him. He didn’t blame her for wanting to get Sesshoumaru’s blessing, that was sweet of her. “Wait Izayoi” he called to her. Didn’t she want to change? Besides, he didn't want her to be upset with him. “I do not wish you to be upset with me about this” he said. Walking away, which was what he figured she was doing, he didn’t want it to end bitterly…
Izayoi paused. “I’m not upset.” she said. “Why would I be?” she asked him softly. “I just hope that someday you will have time for everything.” she told him gently. “Go take care of whatever you wish, I must put on something and get the maids to get the things in the infirmary.” she said. But really, she was feeling like she was rejecting him, just a little, she had been there almost two weeks after all, and she didn’t know him better than when she came.
He felt, he would have to make it up to her. It had been far too long, since she was there and he hadn't’ hardly a moment it seemed to talk to her. “Very well” he said. She needed a moment to get freshened up, and so did he and he would do something sweet for her. They did need a night and really, he could finish up work but he’d figure out that later. He would talk to Kaze like she had suggested but he wasn’t concerned about at the moment as he headed to cleaned up as well and plan on something nice for her. To make up for being so busy. He would have to remember to take his pup out too..
He would try, that very night something nice for them a dinner without the kids but it would fall short Sesshoumaru’s fever had flared up again, so he too would end up waiting outside the infirmary. It didn’t matter to him that he wouldn’t eat but he worried about her. A few days it went like that for something or another, Kaze would end up having a nightmare one evening and after that, he was fed up. She had to be avoiding him during certain times, and he was tired of it. So that evening, he decided he had enough of it, it was time to talk to her.
Izayoi was standing with Kaze, she was petting his hair, it was evening then, he’d been so shaken up about the nightmare that she had ended up petting him all night, and while he was tired that evening, though she didn’t know that Toga had been trying so hard, he never mentioned anything. So when he showed up, angry looking that evening, she was confused. “Hello Toga.” she said. She was so formal…it was like they didn't know each other at all.
Toga was not going to let anything stand between them anymore. “We need to talk Izayoi, privately” he told her. Either they could talk in the hall or he’d send Kaze out but either way he was going to be speaking to her alone. No more of this dodging.
Izayoi kissed her pup and moved over to The hallway so Kaze could sleep. “Goodnight love.” she cooed. Then she moved to look at Toga as soon as she joined him. “What is it?” she asked.
With the door closed he would say “Why have you been avoiding me?” he asked her straight out. There was no reason for it. He was trying his best but if she wasn’t going to be putting anything in it...he wasn’t going to plead her to spend time with him if she didn’t want it but he wanted to know why.
Izayoi tilted her head. “I haven’t been avoiding you...what would make you think I have been?” she asked him. He seemed very angry, and she didn’t understand why. Her eyes were gazing into his, waiting for his answer.
Toga sighed he got that she had to take care of her pup and she was helping with him but that doesn’t excuse all day “I had invited you to join me for certain meals and you brush me off” he said. It wasn’t as if he just surprised her with it. “You’re constantly going the other way when I come to talk to you, it is something I have done to you?” yeah he was upset, he had a right to be.
Izayoi blinked. “You mean the meal when Sesshoumaru got a fever? Or when Mika got her leg cut deep by one of your soldiers, or maybe when Kaze had a nightmare about his former master?” she asked. All those were valid reasons to leave dinner. “Are the children not as important?” she asked.
Toga shook his head, in fact he had gone to help, that wasn’t fair. “You cannot twist this around” he said. “That does not exclude any other time I have tried to have a moment with you” there was nothing else going on. “I do not care if you rush off during a meal during those times, I do not blame your nor am I angry about that but turning around when I am coming to talk to you?” he pointed out.
Izayoi gazed at him and sighed. “...I didn't wish to speak with you.” she said. “I figured we do nothing but argue...what was the point of speaking. I only wanted to wait until everything had calmed down, maybe until we...had more than just a moment…”
Toga sighed too “We will never have anything if we do not start somewhere…” he said. “I am all for the pups coming first. That does not bother me” he assured her. “But avoiding me is like saying you do not wish to go anywhere with this” she had said before that she was invested but, were they really anymore?
Izayoi sighed. “You are right.” she said. “I’m sorry.” she said. She didn’t wish to fight with him, not when he’d been so kind to her before. “I haven’t been very grateful to you...and I don’t want you to think I don’t like you.” she told him softly.
Toga was glad that she wanted to go further with this but she really didn’t need to apologize, he just wanted to speak with her about this not make her feel awful. “I just want to spend some time with you, you will tell me won’t you if you do not want to go any further with this? It’s upsetting to be ignored” he said. And really that was all.
Izayoi sighed. In reality, even if she wanted to leave him, she wouldn't be able to. However, that wasn't what she was thinking. She wrapped her arms around him and gave him a hug, it was a tight hug, and she said “No...no I do. You were the one who saved me from Takemaru, who saved my puppy and I from death…” she whispered. “You are sweet, and gentle…” she said. She hadn’t thought about it, and reminding herself was making her smile a little bit. “And I care for you.” she said. “So whatever you wish, we can do together.” she said softly.
Toga really wasn’t expecting a hug but he did nuzzle her a bit. It was nice. “I just want to have dinner with you a few nights...see if we even are compatible” he had started making preparations for a few weeks from them, just because he was nice to her and she was a sweet lady. “Perhaps steal you away for a day if we can help it” he said. “If you are not comfortable I will back off” he assured her.

"We could go to the cherry orchards...They are blooming right now, and I love picking the berries that are on the pathways, I was going to bake Sesshoumaru a sweet bread with blue and red berries for his birthday next week." she said gently. “I was going to go and get him something from the village, I’ve not decided what though.” she said. Toga had something in mind actually that he thought his pup would like! “I bet he would love that’ he said. And that sounded fine to him. He noticed that everytime she brought his pup treats that he always ate them. “I bet what he would like most is to spend the day out, perhaps, we can plan something, all of us” he suggested. “Can go hunting...spend the day outdoors” he knew Chiyoko never let him...even on his birthday he had to sneak his pup out instead of facing Chiyoko head on and lock horns with her. Izayoi nodded. “That sounds lovely. We can go somewhere, and then when you go hunting Kaze and I will come back here. After all those two weren’t really cut out for hunting at all. “Unless you think we ought to go hunting too.” she said softly.
Toga shrugged “Might as well experience it once. You two can sit atop me while we go” he said. He didn’t think that all the blood and carnage might be something hard for her to see. Perhaps it would be a good time to get Mika involved too.
Izayoi nodded. “Alright then, we have plans. When did you wish to...go?” she asked him softly. “I mean, to start all of this?” she asked him curiously.
Toga would lean down to her and lick across her lips “Care to join me tonight?” he asked her. “That is, if you are not busy” he said. If she didn’t have to rush off and do things, than he was going to take her, hell he might even wait and just go with her somewhere after.
Izayoi peeked inside the room, Kaze was already asleep. “I think I can get away.” she said, her lips turning into a small smile. She moved and gave him a small peck on the lips. “What will we be eating?” she asked him. It was okay now, it was okay that everything had happened. She wanted to know everything was alright, that he loved her. They were soulmates after all.
Toga smiled “I tracked down a rare meat for tonight, one that even you could eat as such” he said. “Something called, kobe? Comes from cows!” he was kind of excited about that it came from a creature that some would drink milk from! “I had some other vegetables and fruits from all over the lands that I thought you might enjoy” he told her. He had really gone all out for her. He would kiss her cheek glad they were finally doing this!
She chuckled at his excitement. "It sounds lovely Toga." she said gently. "Im sure it will be delicious." she said. Izayoi offered him her arm, and said "And after dinner?" she asked curiously.
He smiled “Perhaps...you would like to sit with this one?” he suggested. He didn’t know his mating season was just around the corner, didn’t really feel it. Sometimes, it did sneak up on him. He would lead her to the dining hall but instead of the large table there would be a smaller one, far more romantic for them. And there was fox fire hanging in the lanterns all about them as it was all set up for them. He would let her sit first before joining her on his own pillow as the servants would leave the sake for them too and bring out some of the dishes that were meant to be eaten hot, like some nice sticky rice for her. “Perhaps it is silly of me, but I had always assumed cows were just for their milk”

She moved and sat down in the chair that was nearer the lovely fruits that were on the table. She started to serve herself and smiled. “No, we in the human villages raise most cows up, and once they can no longer bear offspring, before they are too old we slaughter them, and eat every part.” she cooed softly. “The meat can be very tender. But Bull meat isn’t as tender.” she said, smiling as she sipped at the drink, but blinked. It was Sake!
That was interesting to him he would have never thought to do that. Sure they ate all the animal but he would have never thought to raise them up! She should know they tended to eat the whole thing, guts and all. “Sounds good to me” he said, as he ate some of the sliced kobe. It was almost paper thin the way they had prepared it and he enjoyed the meal with her. He of course, didn’t touch any of the vegetables, fruits he could handle some. He loved cherries but was allergic to grapes hence, they had no wine only sake. “You know...for a long while I did not know what a vegetable even was, or that chickens and other such birds could lay eggs...that was until I was entertaining a swan youkai, who told me about it” he laughed at the memory. “He got so offended we didn’t have anything he could eat! Should have seen his face when they brought out duck…”

CLearing the weets and such and employing slaves or humans to raise many cattle, chickens, and other livestock might be a good use of the lands.” she said. “So then you will not run into a shortage of meat, with the growth of the whole nation, and all demons pretty much thrive on meat alone…” at least the carnivorous ones.

Though she did think of something, she’d heard of a plant that was harmless to dogs that made them go nuts, something like a catnip, she had found some during the week, and she stopped a passing maid to grab the box of it from her room. “Well we will see.” she teased. “So Toga…” she cooed. “Did you want to talk about anything else with me?”
Toga felt like talking to her about a lot of things but none of them really seemed the time or place to “Well, I do not know too much about you I am afraid, other than what I have observed” he said.”Or you’ve told me” he added. “Are you enjoying your time here...you haven’t mentioned seeing your father at all...I just don’t want you to have to miss home” he said. He rose an eyebrow at her statement. “And drinking does no harm, we have barely gone through a bottle! Besides, many will be drinking when they arrive” he said.

He rose an eye at the berry and would set his chopsticks down to take it from her. “Actually yes, It’s nice having you both here” he told her. Everyone just seemed happier, now if Sesshoumaru would approve of Izayoi things would be fantastic. Actually he didn’t know if his pup did or didn’t at this point...he might just. “What...is this?” he asked her looking at it. It smelled nice to him, and since he trusted her he would pop it in his mouth and chew on it. The moment the juice from the berry burst on his tongue he felt like he had more energy. Like he was being overloaded with it.
“Oh, that will just give you the same effect I will have with this.” she said, nodding to the sake. “After all, I have to even the playing field.” she cooed. “So when is the party that you were so happy about?” she asked. “Is it going to be soon?”
“Soon enough” he answered. “It takes a few weeks for all the other Lords and Ladies to make arrangements and decide if they wish to come” he explained. “Plus setting up time here too” he told her, as he let his tails sneak out and start to wiggle against her legs teasingly. “It won’t coincide with Sesshoumaru’s birthday, he would not have liked that but soon after” he said. “...Don’t...be surprised if there are unwanted people there...somehow they always know…” or someone blabs.
She smiled softly and nodded. “Oh?” she asked softly. “Like your ex-mate huh?” she asked him gently. “She will try to kill me.” she said, no nonsense in her tone, but she giggled when he rubbed her legs. She offered him another berry, knowing full youkai could handle up to three, and she wanted to know!!
He would take it from her without question this time and eat it. “Indeed she would try, though not before I kill her first” he growled. He was quite serious, he was ready to rip his ex-mates throat out. “I will not let her hurt you for one and all the abuse she pup on my pup. I can handle the cheating, but raising a claw to my pup is crossing the line.” he shook his head. He was really opening up about it, it was something not a lot of people knew about what happened. Izayoi took another drink, and when he growled, she took the bottle of Sake-her box, and she took his hand. “Come.” she cooed. “Lets go to the garden.” she said, pushing out that calming aura again. Oh with hearing that, she hated Chiyoko, but...she couldn’t help but want to calm him down. “Thank you for wanting to protect me.” she cooed.
Toga was thankful for her calming aura, or he would have been very upset thinking about what he had seen or what his pup had told him. Out in the fresh air of the garden he nodded “I wouldn’t be the only one” he said. He knew that for sure. No one liked his ex. He calmed down for a few more minutes before he would nod his head “I want to show you a spot...I think you’ll like it” he told her, there were a few secret gardens in his land, ones in places it didn’t seem like there would be one.

Out along a less worn path, to a wall covered in blooming ivy he would walk along it until he came to path he could push the hanging leaves aside and let her go in. Inside were their best flowers, some night buds already blooming in bright colors. There was even a pond surrounding a lovely large willow tree. The only one in the West. His only imported bud he’d raised with his pup when he was small. THough he doubted Sesshoumaru remembered. The grass was plush beneath their feet and thick, where the flowers grew tall.

She opened the box to fish out the last berry he could have, and put it in his hand, she, took a gulp of sake, and handed him the bottle. “We should have a picnic out here one day.” she told him. “It is so beautiful.” she said. Smiling as she leaned over, sniffing at a rose bush.
Toga would join her it wasn’t as if the pond was very large to get across and it was lovely, even at night time. Though most of the beauty was in the day “Yes, that does sound nice” he agreed as he would take some of the sake as well along with the last berry. They were so nice together! Toga nodded “I found one of the seedlings on my clothing” he told her. “Those little things grow so quickly” he said. “And the tree came from far across the waters’ he told her. “It was an ugly sproutling but grew to be a very beautiful tree” he said. He adored his garden, but he adored her far more. “It is alright” he told her, returning that small kiss. “I was not helping...I really did not mean to ignore you for so long, I was not intentional” he said. As he was sitting there with her, his mating season would hit him, hard. He could go into it generally without his beast form but he could feel it coming out to play.
Izayoi rested her head on his shoulder too. "And I didn't mean to get so angry that you weren't spending time with me, your work is important...I know that." she cooed. She didn’t know that he’d hit his mating season. How would she, but she snuggled close to him, the alcohol was starting to affect her and she giggled a little bit. “Your tail is so soft and fluffy.” she said, petting on it gently.
Toga nuzzled her, he loved that she was wanting to be with him right then as he was feeling quite lovey towards him. HE would pull her so close he was practically forcing her up on his lap, that was alright with him though. He didn’t mind and would start to kiss along her neck, wanting to love on her. “mm, and you taste good” he wouldn’t bite her though...not yet.
She blinked and smiled, shuddering as he kissed along her neck. She giggled and moved her head so that he could have access to her neck. “That feels nice.” she said, her hand, though she didn’t realize, was right on his stiff member, though it wasn’t throbbing with need for her, so she didn’t realize. But she tried to kiss him right back, pulling on his hair playfully. “We shouldn’t.” The last rational thought flew out her mouth.
He groaned as she tugged on his hair. He really liked that and he couldn’t help push up against her “I know” he agreed “But you’re so nice right now” he said as he licked along her neck, nibbling her there. He was even grazing his teeth along her. Those berries were really kicking in and he would nibbling more, coming to a place he wished to mark her. “…so tasty..” he wanted to mark her. Badly so he slit along his shoulder “Lick love” he told her. He had to wait for her...it was harder when it was happening and would be probably more for her.
Izayoi flushed and when he grazed his teeth against her, she shuddered in his arms. "nn!" she said. When he slit his shoulder, her eyes widened and she whispered. "Toga...it's...nn...you know it is too soon for this." she whispered softly. SHe was drawn to his blood, but for the moment, reason won out. “We can’t...what about...nn…” she shuddered. “Your son.” she whispered. Though surely with everything how it was, he wouldn’t be able to wait long to mark her, and once he bit, he’d likely force his blood on her lips.
Toga was continuing to nip her “Go on love while it is still leaking” just a bit, she only needed a little and that would be fine. He knew it was bad but he was not in the mood to really be arguing with her. At this point, common sense was just going to fly out the window with him and he would push his hard length against her again, really rubbing up to her.
The woman would let him rub on her, and she even would slip her hand under his shirt to his stomach, and wiggle it a bit lower, so she could feel his hardness. “We...nn...We should just rutt Toga, if it’s what you want…” she whispered. How was she supposed to not argue about this!?
He didn’t mind rutting but he really wanted to mate with her and he wouldn’t wait any longer for it. He would simply return nibbling upon her again, and then in one fluid motion he would bite her. He felt all bite her. He couldn't help but sink his fangs into her.
Izayoi winced. “Ngh!!” she said, it felt good, at least a little bit, but without having sex the bulk of that ‘mating’ feeling was lost. She wiggled under him, but still didn’t lick his blood. Having forgotten about it. The marking hurt!! Quite a bit!
Toga however, was quite to bite the tip of his finger and would force it into her mouth, just a little bit so it could coat her tongue. It should ease it. Instead of it being a painful one sided sort of thing. He didn’t apologize for it either, just licked and soothed the wound he inflicted closed and would swipe his tongue over it a few times to soothe it.
When he forced his finger into her mouth, she coughed a bit, and groaned out, her eyes lowering a little bit. Though her wound was soothed, she could feel it closing, even in her drunken state, she gazed at him. It had been romantic, but she couldn’t help it, but feel betrayed. She had said no...not an indefinite no, just, for then, she’d promised Sesshoumaru she wouldn’t…
Any other given situation it would have been okay for him to pull away from it. But in an inebriated state, plus his mating season? Yeah there was no way he wouldn’t. It was terrible that it had taken away that bulk of sex...but at the very least, she wouldn’t be pregnant. But really a woman saying no...unfortunately didn’t make much of a difference not during their time. Though he could sense that he had upset her and as if reading her mind he said “..Do not worry” he said. “I will tell him…” that way, his pup couldn’t be mad at her.
Izayoi nodded, just a little bit. “I think...maybe we should go home now.” she whispered softly, Moving to stand up. Though it took her a moment to be steady on her feet, “Are you coming?” she asked softly. At the moment she didn’t care either way, she wanted to get home to her puppy. Perhaps he’d be of some comfort.
He would get up as well, and would follow her out. He wouldn’t disturb his puppy but he made a mental note to talk to him later… It was late anyways. “Yes” he said. “It is best we get back” he agreed. Though...was it him or di the situation feel awkward.
Izayoi nodded, and she made sure that she was being careful how she was stepping, but she didn’t say a word to him until she got to the door to her room, at which time she turned to him, the mating mark glaring on both of their necks. “Goodnight.” she said. She didn’t understand that he was in heat, how could she? He didn’t tell her...though it wasn’t an excuse...she might have understood.
Toga sighed “Goodnight” he offered to her. He couldn't’ even tell her about his mating season now...not when there wasn’t any evidence of it. Perhaps they could talk in the morning...that wouldn’t be bad, but their mating marks wouldn’t allow them to be apart for long and he knew that.
