Akuhei's evil laughter rang through the mountain cave and Kinaka answered with one of his own. They had finally found the little bitch. He wanted to hunt her down, to taste her blood on his fangs. Soon, my mate. Soon we will have everything and she will regret the day she was born. Her words rang through his mind, causing his blood to boil. Darkness would reign supreme once again and this time, he would make sure that it never returned...

InuYasha came to a stop in front of Sesshomaru. Should've known the bastard would be here.
Easy, InuYasha.
InuYasha had been prepared to let it go until the whiff of panther had pulled him from sleep this morning. It should have been destroyed on sight and the fact that Sesshomaru, who hated the panthers as much as he did, had simply let it go sat his nerves on edge. "What the hell Sesshomaru? Why is it still alive?"
"It is none of your concern."
InuYasha growled."It becomes my concern when it is in MY forrest threatening MY mate. I will ask you nicely one more time. Why is there a panther demon still breathing in my forrest?"
Sakura, who had managed to remove herself from the water and somewhat redress herself, chose this moment to come and stand between Sesshomaru and his brother. InuYasha had moved to draw Tessaiga but she was slightly faster and hit him in the face with a water ball. "Next time it will be solid ice. I mean no one here any harm and you have no reason to draw that sword on me." She watched him lower his hands and looked to his mate, who had obviously found the little display amusing. "You must be Kagome. My name is Sakura. It is a pleasure to meet you."
Kagome was barely containing her laughter and when she met Sakura's humor filled eyes she burst out in giggles. "It's nice to meet you as well. Gomen ne, but I haven't seen that look on his face since that last time I sat him." At Sakura's blank expression she explained. "The kotodama around his neck will have him eating dirt with one little word. It is rather useful when he is being a baka." This had both of them in fits of laughter and it wasn't until InuYasha scoffed that Kagome pulled herself together. "Sakura, it seems our intrusion was unneccesary but we have not exactly had pleasent dealings with panther demons in the past."
"She is a hanyou and had her presence here been a threat I would have simply killed her. Your prejudice almost got you both killed this morning. Leave. Now."
It was the first time since Sakura had appeared that Sesshomaru had spoken and his words, empty threat though they were, had Kagome feeling a bit afraid of him. He still had not sheathed Bakusaiga and it was making her uneasy. "Gomen ne oni-san. You are correct. We will leave."
"Kagome, we can't just..."
"NOW InuYasha."
Sakura watched as InuYasha lifted his little mate in his arms and ran away then she turned to Sesshomaru. "You can put that away now."

Rin woke in her own bed and wondered where Kohaku had ran off to. She had barely finished the thought when he walked through the door carrying something wrapped in pink cloth. "What is that?" She asked.
"Come train with me and find out."
Rin laughed as he ran back outside, he had her weapon. Excited, she got herself together in a hurry and ran out to meet him.

"What do you mean I need to train?" I've already worked with Master Totosai, I don't need anymore training."
"You have never had the use of your demon powers before, you need to learn to control it before you can properly use those weapons Sakura. Youki is a very powerful weapon in itself if you know how to wield it properly." She was still huffing about and Sesshomaru knew none of what he was saying was getting through to the stubborn woman. Raising his hand, he released his whip and knocked her on her ass. She turned on him with a hiss and let a ball of ice fly from her hand. He shattered it mid-air. "That is a worthless attack and will do nothing but stun your opponent if you can even manage to hit them. Do not reach for the water. Find the youki within yourself and use it."
Sakura stood and concentrated on finding her power. It was there, she could feel it, like a tingling sensation under her skin. She focused the energy into her fingertips, like she had seen Sesshomaru do with his whip and swung. She watched in amazement as two balls of blue fire shot from her claws and obliterated a tree."Whoa." She was turning to give Sesshomaru a very smug look of accomplishment when her knees gave out.
Sesshomaru caught her before she could hit the ground. One arm behind her back and the other under her knees, he took them a bit deeper into the forrest. "This is why you need to train. Using youki like that will make you very weak until you are stronger."
"Shouldn't it just come to me? I thought that to be a demon meant that you were strong."
Sesshomaru sighed."You are a hanyou. Your human half isn't yet strong enough to keep up."
"You knew this would happen and yet you still pushed me to use it. Why?"
"Because you needed to find it. You and your demon are already one. I felt it the minute you released the spell yesterday. It takes most hanyou's many years to make that kind of connection. You needed to be able to recognize and feel the youki flowing in your veins quickly. It will only get stronger as you do and if it builds too much, you could injure yourself trying to use it."
"I think I understand. I can already feel it flowing again. Does this mean that my energy will come back quickly as well?"
"Possibly, try to use that attack again and see. I will be here to catch you again if you fall and don't over use. Try to control the amount of energy you out into the attack." He sat her down on her feet in front of a small patch of flowers. She was a little wobbley but finally got her footing. "Now, try to destroy each flower individually."

"InuYasha, are you blind? Sakura clearly means something to him or she wouldn,t be alive. Why are you so against her being this close to the village." Kagome had spent the better part of the morning trying to calm her hanyou mate. It had been a long time since anything had had him this upset but he was shutting her out.
"I just feel like she's going to bring trouble, Kagome. I can't explain it. It's just a feeling." He was pacing a hole in the floor and Kagome went to place her hand just over his heart.
"We can't just turn her away InuYasha. We have always offered help and protection to those who need it and we cannot deviate from that now."
"It is different now mate. Miroku, though still a strong fighter, no longer has use of the wind tunnel and they have a family to look after. We can't simply ask them to risk their lives now that they hve so much more to lose."
"We have Kohaku, Rin, and something tells me that as long as Sakura is here that he won't be far away. You were too busy with your interrogation this morning to notice but he barely had control over himself this morning InuYasha. He is a master at hiding his emotions and this morning he had Bakusaiga drawn before we even got there."
"He was protecting her."
"Exactly. If there is a battle to be won mate, then we will not be alone."
