Once he was certain he was far enough away from the others, Sesshoumaru stopped and turned back around; waiting patiently for Bankotsu to catch up to him. “Who is trying to kill your friend?” he demanded suddenly, startling Bankotsu. “It is not hard to figure out that is what happened when a snake turns up inside someone's blanket. I will ask you only once more and then I will dump the both of you on the side of the road. Who is trying to kill your friend?”

Sighing heavily, Bankotsu admitted honestly, “I do not know. We have narrowed it down to six men, but he has no connections to any of them for them to want him dead.”

“Six? What about the seventh man?” Sesshoumaru questioned, already having automatically removed his own family members from the lists of suspects. While they may not be perfect little angels, especially when it came to his brother, he knew them all well enough to know they would never stoop so low as to try something like that.

“We have a bit of history and so I have kept my eyes on him since we left your ranch. He's never had the chance to mess with the blankets.”

“Is it possible any of them have found out about Jakotsu's preferences?”

“No, Jakotsu has been very careful to make sure no one would that didn't already. He's had experience with people taking offense to his preference, as you called it.”

“Very well. I will give you two days to find out who it was and deal with them or I will have to leave you two behind. I can not and I will not put my family in danger even if you are not actually at fault.”

“I understand completely, sir. If we don't figure out who it is by the day after tomorrow, then we will leave before the next dawn,” Bankotsu assured him before turning and making his way back toward Jakotsu.
