The next day the drive was delayed by a wheel coming loose from the wagon and Sesshoumaru had offered them the day off while he fixed it; saying half of the group could relax while the others watched the cattle. After lunch, they were to switch. Deciding it would be the perfect time to put his plan into action, Bankotsu had opted to take the first shift of watching the cattle, observing the others to see who else waited for him to answer before choosing for themselves.
Unfortunately, no one seemed to take the bait as everyone besides Jakotsu and himself had wanted the second shift. Hoping one of the three that were put onto the first shift with him, other than Jakotsu, was the right one, Bankotsu kept himself busy while coming up with a plan to flush him out at the same time. Deciding it would be best not to fill Jakotsu in, as he might be too worried to let him test out his plan, Bankotsu let his determination cloud his mind.
After deciding the lake near by would be the perfect location to put his plan in action, Bankotsu suggested that Jakotsu take a walk with him and pretended to stumble upon it. "We should take a dip," Bankotsu told him with a playful smirk; knowing he wouldn't be able to resist seeing him half naked, hair free from its braid and soaking wet.
"Why don't you run back to camp for a change of clothes and something to dry off with," he suggested looking out into the water as though he found the idea of a dip to be inviting. Honestly if anything else had been going on, he probably would have.
When Jakotsu didn't answer right away, Bankotsu figured he was going to object and assured him before he could, "It will be fine. He isn't going to just up and attack me in broad daylight. Besides you will only be gone for a minute." Though Jakotsu didn't look completely convinced, he couldn't help but think he had a point.
A man who was cowardly enough to hide a snake in someone's blanket tended to not be brave enough to attack someone head on when they could be spotted.
