Chapter 11
Inuyasha’s worry for his sibling was grave, and after hearing the demon’s inner thoughts of death, he came to the point that he feared leaving the youkai unsupervised. He walked silently along side the demon lord as they made their way back to the village, observant of his brother‘s body language. The darkness of the night hid Sesshoumaru’s features, but Inuyasha could still get the gist of his state just from the sheer misery radiating from the man. As they reached their temporary abode Inuyasha stayed with him instead of retiring to his own bed, but the demon remained silent despite him noticing the peculiarity. The demon approached his pallet on the floor and proceeded to remove his kimono, dressed in only his under kimono before he knelt and lied down on the uncomfortable pallet.
Inuyasha stepped slowly toward his brother, hesitant at first as to his decision, but in the end he removed his fire-mice coat and then crawled in bed behind the demon lord. Sesshoumaru turned his head slightly to the hanyou with a quizzical look.
“I’m just gonna camp out in here with you for the night, okay? Miroku snores too loud for me to get any decent rest.” He said as he pulled the covers up to his chin.
Sesshoumaru lied his head back down and closed his eyes, not feeling quite able enough to argue with the hanyou tonight.

Inuyasha still hadn’t slept at all and the dawn was nearly at hand, but somehow, he still found that he couldn’t tear his eyes from his brother’s serine face. He had spent the entire night just watching the slumbering youkai breath. Earlier during the night the demon had adjusted his position, and since then the hanyou had been afraid to even breath funny for fear of disturbing him.
Their legs touched along the knee and shin, and the youkai’s hand lay limply before the hanyou, who had resisted reaching out to hold it. The demon lord’s silvery waterfall of hair spread out over his pillow and wrapped around his shoulder, giving him a mystic look and matching the coolness of his depression. His face, though, was not low-spirited like it was when he was awake. The contentment of sleep chased away the reality that haunted him during the day, and gave his visage an overall tranquil and unspoiled loveliness.
Inuyasha wanted to embrace the picture before him, but he also feared for his own feelings if he should surrender to the urge. The night had brought many decisions to do what his heart was telling him to do, but each time his mind overruled the action and forced him to lay back down, and be content at only looking. But just as first light began spilling over the horizon, the hanyou’s mind, dulled by sleep deprivation, failed to beat his heart’s desires and he moved before he could tell himself ‘no.’
It wasn’t long or grand in any way, but for the hanyou, it gave him a taste of the combustion of feeling that swirled inside himself, and it singed him deeply. His brother’s lips were soft and warm, but as he sat back he realized what he had done, he felt ashamed, but at the same time he wanted more. He wanted so much more than that tiny kiss, but he knew it was wrong. Shaking in his severe uncertainty, his frustration skewered him and in the end the air grew too heavy and he was forced to leave.
As the hanyou exited the room, his brother’s golden eyes slid open and followed his retreat. He stared blankly for a moment before his tongue slid from his mouth and ran a narrow trail across his bottom lip. He rolled onto his side and pulled the covers over his shoulder, letting the fingers of his other hand gently caress his damp lips, appearing to reenact the contact his brother had given him. He was in a whirl of thought as he shifted his face further into the pillow and closed his eyes once again. “Damn it, Inuyasha…”

A few days had passed and through the nights Inuyasha had continued to stay with his brother. Sesshoumaru was silent as usual, even when addresses he wouldn’t speak. Kagome had returned from her time after retrieving some anti-depressants, in hopes that they might help the youkai lord even the slightest bit, but after several futile attempts she gave up on getting him to take them. The monk and taijiya had decided to journey to Sango’s home village to pay respects to her deceased family and friends, and Shippo had gone along to escape the dull village life along with the ominous taiyoukai. Over all the group seemed genuinely exhausted and some were loosing hope that the demon lord would mend at all.
Sesshoumaru had retreated into the field just outside the village and sat among the happily bobbing wild flowers. The flowers reminded him of his lost child, but he couldn’t tear himself away from them, somehow. Sitting among them, he became impossibly more depressed, as memories of Rin washed over him. He remembered what her favorite kind of flower was. He wasn’t knowledgeable of the name, but he recognized the ones she would pick, and had deemed the only ones worthy of him. Weeds were worthy of him now… or dirt.
He wished Inuyasha would leave him alone. He still felt the hanyou’s eyes burning holes in his back. He couldn’t be left alone. The demon lord knew that as well. He knew the hanyou had good reason not to leave alone, because he knew exactly what would happen in that scenario. He wanted to be alone even for a little while, but even then he wasn’t sure he trusted himself to be.
He was tired, just like the rest of them, and he knew he was the source their weariness. He still didn’t grasp why the miko and hanyou were so insistent on keeping him going. He’d given up on himself a week ago, so the reason for their hope in him caused him nothing but puzzlement. Sometimes he wanted to shout out to them all the frustration he felt that was only made worse by their badgering for him to try. Try harder. Just try a little harder. Could they not see?! Were their eyes nothing but burn holes in their heads? He had tried. He had wanted to live. He had wanted to get better, but no matter how hard he tried he felt his child’s bloody hands holding onto his heart like a vise. A vise that he, no matter how he tugged, could not release himself from. He was doomed to die an agonizing death, even if not a drop of blood was spilled.

“Inuyasha, how was he today? Did he eat anything?” asked the concerned voice of the miko.
Inuyasha shook his head as he set the bowl of ramen down before him, finding his appetite to be rather sickly as well. “He sat in the field almost the entire day today.” There was a long pause before the hanyou added, “He hasn’t spoken to me in three days…”
Kagome put her hand on his shoulder reassuringly, “It’s alright, Inuyasha. He’ll come around. He’s still in shock. These things just take time.” Though despite her words she had her own doubts about the seemingly hopeless lord. She stood up, heading inside for the night and planted a soft kiss atop the hanyou’s shaggy head, “Get some rest, Inuyasha. You look terribly exhausted.”
He nodded, feeling a bit comforted now. Before she walked away, Inuyasha stood and grabbed her by the arm, “Kagome.” he said suddenly, but then forgot what he was going to say. He stared at her for a moment as she stared back at him. He finally formed words through his swirling mind, “Th…Thank you… for helping us both.” He muttered as his ears drooped slightly.
The miko smiled and nodded before she stepped forward and put her arms around him. The hanyou returned her embrace without delay , lying his cheek against her dark locks.
Somehow after a moment, their lips found each other and they locked together for a delightfully long moment. As they broke, Inuyasha’s name found it’s way wantonly to Kagome’s breathless lips.
The hanyou remembered the night they had first come back to the village and what they had almost done. His brother momentarily crossed his mind as he thought of loosing his virginity. It made him jump a bit, just for the sheer perversion of the thought, but when he pulled Kagome closer, she took it as a sign that he was thinking of them being together. She kissed his flushed cheek as his mind came back to her, and he discarded the thoughts of he and his brother. He nuzzled her beautifully scented hair and gave a small whimper of her name as he felt her kissing his neck.
They found themselves inside in only a short moment since they were already standing in front of Kagome’s quarters, and they both toppled down upon the neatly made futon. Inuyasha kissed his friend’s cherry lips with bruising force, as he found a new zeal for her awaken in him. “Inuyasha…” she cried softly as his lips left hers and went down to her neck and kissed with the same bruising power, as well as biting lightly from time to time. He lay between her legs, and already he could feel his hardened member throbbing for her. He was unsure as to how to go about this act, and he was sure Kagome didn’t either, but he still wanted her to enjoy it as much as she could, but he was also afraid that he may hurt her. “Kagome…” he muttered as he lifted his head to look upon her perfect face, “I… I’ve never…” he trailed off as she placed a finger on his lips., “Shh. It’s okay, Inuyasha. I trust you... I‘m glad… we‘re each other‘s firsts…” The hanyou gave a slight smile and nodded. As the leaned down to kiss there was a sudden racket outside, and the two stopped and sat up.
Kaede threw the curtain to the room back and yelled at the both of them, “Curse it, Inuyasha! Yer God f’rsaken Brother! I told ye he’d bring nothing but trouble to the village!”
Before The old woman could even finish Inuyasha had already made a mad dash for the door and out down the street.

“Bloody youkai! You ain‘t welcome here!” Yelled a woman in the crowd.
“Get out of our village you murderer!” The mob taunted violently at him as he stood still, almost statue-like, if it weren’t for his hair waving in the breeze. A rock came hurling out of the mob and hit the demon in the shoulder, causing him to step back a step, but still he remained with his head lowered and his stance stiff. The rest of the crowd took the example and began to throw more at the demon. Many landed, some did not, but with each landed stone the demon lord became more and more ridged.
“My brother was killed by you’re damned race!”
“My mother!”
“My husband!”
The list went on as the villagers had finally found something to take out their revenge on. Finally a stone landed against the side of the youkai’s head and as it did a loud, emanating growl let fourth from the beast’s mouth and he lifted his head, “I am not a channel for your frustration’s, humans! YOU ARE THE CHANNEL FOR MINE!” He yelled as he leapt into the center of the mob and started to take heads off like he was standing with a scythe in the center of a wheat field. Blood splattered over his form, and he couldn’t help feel that this mass slaughter let him be free of the angst that had been bounding him for far too long. His talons sunk into the meaty flesh of the condemning humans and sadistic smirk came across his face as he found an escape from the pain and torment of his new life.
He swung his talons again but before they landed he stopped himself as his eyes fell upon a little girl that huddled low to the ground, shaking violently with fear. His eyes were wide, somewhat in shock, or confusion, one couldn’t tell. “Rin…” he muttered, lowering his claws as he sank to his knees before the child.
The little girl looked up slowly at the demon lord before she suddenly got to her feet and ran as fast as her tiny legs would carry her. Sesshoumaru lowered his head and looked down at his bloodied talons. His usually solid voice was meek and unsteady as he spoke, “I killed her…”
Inuyasha arrived screaming his brother’s name. What he saw shocked him. Bodies, blood and guts abundantly littered the ground and in the center sat the demon lord shivering softly. Inuyasha went up to him, cooing his name sympathetically.
“Inuyasha…” muttered the youkai coolly as his hand reached out to clasp his brother’s pant leg, while he continued to stare and the bloodied ground. Inuyasha knelt beside him feeling his heart knot up at his brother’s disarray. Before the hanyou could speak a word the demon had his arms locked tightly around his brother’s waist. “Inuyasha… I don‘t want to be here anymore. Let me die. Please just let me go…” he cried out in a voice he didn‘t even recognize as his own.
The hanyou’s bottom lips began to shiver as he stared blankly into the darkness in front of him. He felt his heart twist as his mind registered what the youkai had just begged him for. The taiyoukai lifted his head up to look into his brother’s golden pools and was a bit shocked when he saw that they were brimmed with tears. The half-breed blinked them away as he jerked away from the demon and shoved him backwards.
“You think death will save you then?! If that’s what you think then I’ll be the one that saves you, brother. I’ll kill you!” He yelled as he drew the dog fang from his belt and aimed it at the crumpled form before him. His hand shook as continued to try and blink away the painfully stinging tears, while he raised the gargantuan blade above his head, in preparation for the swing.
The dog demon was surprised at first, but after his brother’s words he felt a calm wash over him; a peace that erupted a smile upon his bloodied lips. “Inuyasha…” purred the youkai with gracious amounts of calm in his voice. He closed his eyes and his body went limp on the gory soil, and his consciousness faded.
“Inuyasha!” cried the frantic voice of the miko as she ran to the area, and was mortified by the scene.
The Tetsusaiga fell behind the hanyou and impaled itself in the earth, reverting back to it’s original state. Inuyasha fell to his knees as hot tears finally released themselves from his eyes. He crawled over his brother’s wilted form and spooned the demon into his chest, blatantly crying into the demon’s blood-matted hair. “No… I won’t… let you… You promised…” he sobbed weakly.
Kagome walked boldly toward the two brothers and through the slop that had been villagers a few moments ago. She was fighting back tears as she saw Inuyasha bawling over his brother’s still body. She wasn’t sure if the youkai was okay or not, and she was still shocked as to why the hanyou had held the Tetsusaiga above him seemingly about to strike Sesshoumaru down for good. She sniffled a bit and wiped the dampness from her cheek before she knelt beside the brothers and put her arms around the both of them. “Inuyasha… Let’s get away from here. All of us. Somewhere where we can be with him… together.” She muttered into his silvery hair. “He needs… to find love again.”
