Aromas of something resembling decomposed waste leaked amid the chateau; a bellowing ruckus echoed throughout accompanied by gagging slurs and splashing of water. Knelt in some form of a prayer-position, Sesshomaru bobbed over the toilet with a hand clutching back his silvery mane as he prepared to vomit once again. With the sounds parroting back, it had only made the purebred more nauseated. Sickness wrecked the youkai body in crashing waves with no intention of easing and dissipating, but continuing its brutal assault. A full season had almost come to pass, leaving the demon with ailements that had no specific cause nor cure. Drool dripped from Sesshomaru's lips, leaving soaked trails of saliva and vomit down flushed skin. Many occurrences he traveled to the hospital, to an acupuncturist, a therapist...all repeating the same tune; there had been nothing physically, spiritually, or mentally wrong with the youkai.

With the jerk of the handle, the debris flushed away and Sesshomaru toppled onto the shag rug, his body sprawled in a seemingly uncomfortable position. Since the news of Inuyasha's disappearing, he had been worried, concerned, but most of all pissed off. Being as obstinate and self-assured as usual, he didn't understand why his brother hadn't even mentioned that he was going away or if he had been moved to another facility; then again, he hadn't even bothered to check-in with the hanyou in any sense. Jerking himself from the ground, Sesshomaru lethargically shuffled into the foyer pulling himself along as though he had been injected with a massive dose of Thorzine. Groggy and exhausted, the youkai doubled over an endtable, batting a decorative frame with Inuyasha's picture against the fireplace. Glass shattered and embroidered ornaments flared about, shadowing specks of marble flooring and brick. Damning the powers-that-be, Sesshomaru allowed his body to cave into a fetal position.

Sesshomaru hadn't been into work for weeks, mounds of bills piled into overflowing stacks, and his saltwater aquarium had dried up and its inhabitants unintentionally murdered. His behaviour was not that of the traditional Sesshomaruesque ways; never before had he allowed such a person to become something of a pestilence, a bother, his downfall. A trinket box, designed in platinum, glistened in candlelight, adorned with rare jewels outlined in tri-color gold. It had been a present, a token of affection constructed especially for Inuyasha, but its contents held more importance. Sesshomaru had maintained his distance from his sibling for numerous reasons and this knickknack was a gift upon his adored's release. Now it graced a coverlet of dust, never being opened nor moved.

Amber orbs filled with an inscrutable emotion as they beheld the trinket box. Sesshomaru begun his cycle of self-hatred concerning his inert actions over the affection held for Inuyasha. Too proud, too cynical...a hazardous combination; one that that could be the destroyer of any relationship. Reeling up on his forearms, the youkai army-crawled a few paces before tumbling to his chest, a disgruntled noise escaping pressed lips. Drilling nails into the marble, Sesshomaru forced himself upon hand and knee. It ha been apparent that a certain daiyoukai was never informed -or probably never paid attention- that you receive what you give out three fold. This is the outcome when you fleck off Fate and Karma gets pissed.

// Commercial Break v1.5 (a/n)// Yes, I realize this chapter is short, but it gives a glimpse into what Sesshomaru has been dealing with. After decades of loathing someone and then falling in love with them, for them to piss all over you -or so is seen through your own eyes-, you don't come out ahead or even unmoved. Especially if that someone almost killed themselves by an overdose and then magically disappeared into the never with no trace or warning. Even the great Sesshomaru has to have a weakness...

Not to fear, The next chapter will be much longer ^.^ And, you'll just have to wait and find out what's in that trinket box!
