Sorry for the long wait. Work has been pretty hectic lately. Plot will start picking up now. Hope you like. I’m also working on updates to the Hellsing fic and a scrapped princess fic. Is it just me, or is Shannon way hot? LoL ~

Hot silk covered steel shifted around her, providing a feeling of stability and security. How long had it been since she felt that way? Safe. It was an unheard of thing for her. The war had changed her life so much, leaving a gaping hole where her heart, her feelings should have been. A steel band wrapped around her waist like a vice, pulling her against a greater warmth. She opened sleepy eyes, seeing smooth silver strands. ‘Youko or Sesshoumaru’ her mind supplied, and she laughed at herself, snuggling closer. ‘Dreams can be so great sometimes’. Her mind, in her state of half waking, was like an open book. Images and memories long repressed were clear for the two demons to see. A life of hardship, of loneliness, of bloodshed. She claimed to not be a fighter, but the evidence was showing a picture contrary to that. A small body, in tiny boots, a weapon nearly as long as she was. Explosions, sand falling from the sky like rain, and her wry laughter. In her mind, she was not afraid, she was not brave. She was simply too tired to care anymore. Every thundering blow that landed short she taunted her unseen enemy. The madness of the battlefield was closing in on her. And she knew it. Lines of flag draped boxes, coffins passed her by, being loaded onto the back of a bulky cargo plane. She stood, eyes narrowed and moist with unshed tears. These had been her friends, her brothers and sisters in arms, and now they were gone. Behind her, some unknown male decorated with brass was giving some hollow speech. The sacrifice had been noble. An angry Lilian stormed to his position, “Their sacrifice was noble yes” she hissed, “And stupid. All because they blindly followed you. Go home with them, tell the ones they leave behind how noble this all is”. The man blinked down at her, stunned by her outburst, he tried to spout platitudes to calm her, but she would not be calmed. Sesshoumaru and Youko moved slowly through her memories, gently. Golden eyes narrowing on the many people she had tried to reason with. Tried and failed, because they had simply been too ignorant to see her point. Countless lives might have been saved if her words had been heeded. Suddenly she was standing before them, her eyes downcast. “I failed them” she whispered, “And I can never make it right”. The two demons, like silent, silver sentinels, golden eyes showing some measure of acceptance for her. “The failing is not yours Mekharat” Sesshoumaru told her, “But belongs to those who governed you”. Behind her, Sesshoumaru was awake, his arm across her keeping her close. His golden eyes were heavy lidded as he reclined in the warm embrace. She had been fretful for only a short time in the night, quieting swiftly when he pulled her close or Youko purred. Said fox was currently enjoying his moment of rest, the human female pressed against his chest, her face buried against his throat. He met Sesshoumaru’s gaze over her dark head and smirked. ‘So we’ve become the most powerful pillows in all of creation’ he mused. Sesshoumaru lifted one brow and nosed into her hair. ‘She positively reeks of us’ he noted. Youko grinned, tracing delicate claws up her arm, ‘Nice isn’t it?’. ‘She likely will fight like hell when she awakens fully’ Sesshoumaru commented. Youko sighed, ‘That is true, but we have our reasons’ he replied, ‘Besides methinks the lady doesn’t mind all that much’. The dogs vibrant eyes moved to the tall windows, the sun was barely rising. The sky tinged with the deep red hues of the morning. ‘Shouldn’t you wake her for training?’ Youko asked, knowing full well that Sesshoumaru had no desire to do that. The lord gave him a cutting glare, ‘There is time. Shiziru will give her answer soon. I must contact her today’. Youko nodded, feeling Lilian shift again, her arm draping over his middle, her thigh riding high on his hip. ‘Friendly little sleeper isn’t she?’. Sesshoumaru had not missed the fact that her other hand was twined with his own. ‘So she is’. --~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kagome stirred against her mate, feeling him rumble behind her. “Don’t wanna wake up” he grumbled against the back of her neck. She smiled and rolled over to face him, “I hope she’s ok” she blurted out. Inuyasha’s ear flickered as her hand crept up to touch it. “She’s fine. Sesshoumaru returned with her last night. She looked out of it, but he didn’t start killing things. She’s fine” he groused. Kagome shifted, leaning over him to blow lightly against his ear. The velvet appendage flickered again, before his arms came around her and dragged her down against him. “Stop that” he admonished halfheartedly. Kagome snuggled against him, “He’s late” she murmured. Inuyasha twirled her dark hair around a clawed finger, “Who?” he asked. His wife pressed a kiss to his shoulder, “Your brother” she replied, “He is usually up and training by now”. Inuyasha rolled pinning his small mate beneath him, “Gods Kagome, knock that crap off. Next thing I know you are gonna start knowing all his habits. Creeps me out” he teased. Kagome chuckled, “Hey, I can’t help it. I set my watch by him”. Inuyasha rolled his hips against hers, “Oh yeah? And what do you set by me?” he asked, playful in the morning. Kagome reached between them, catching hold of one part of him that was more awake than most. “Compasses” she told him. His brow furrowed, and she laughed nipping his chin, “They always point north. Seems you do too”. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ While Sesshoumaru would have been only to happy to lay abed all day, duty called and so to did the safety of the Mekharat. He rose a mere hour later, donning his customary garments. With a final look at the fox he gave a mental warning, ‘Don’t try it Youko’. The fox waved dismissively, ‘Not without you, of course’. He grumbled as he untangled himself from the soft, fragrant warmth of female flesh to begin his own day. He found Sesshoumaru sitting behind that archaically large desk of his. His chin propped on his fist as he stared at the communication orb. It was dull and dark, the message having long since been given. “Well?” he asked crossing the threshold. Sesshoumaru turned golden eyes to his, “They are moving. We must leave soon, tonight if possible” he replied. Youko’s tail twitched, “Not a great deal of warning” he pointed out. Sesshoumaru growled lightly in irritation, “I am aware of that fact. However Makai will be safer for her”. No Alliance rules. They could be as brutal as they needed or wanted in their own world. “And the key to unlocking her powers?” Youko pressed. At this Sesshoumaru actually smirked, “Bonding” he replied, “Physical bonding”. Youko frowned, “She has to be bedded?”. Sesshoumaru nodded, “It gets better” he went on, “It must be youkai. Of our class. The power of youkai while mating is what will unseal her own”. A bright eyed Inuyasha chose that moment to appear in the doorway, “No way” he groused, “She’s gotta sleep with one of you? Poor kid”. Sesshoumaru shot a death glare at his younger sibling. Inuyasha however, was not affected in the least. “When you gonna tell her?”. The two demons remained silent. Inuyasha frowned, “You are planning to tell her right?”. Youko chuckled, “Never thought bedding would save the world” he admitted. Sesshoumaru nodded, “But it is not as simple as that”. Youko crossed his arms over his chest, “Never is” he grumbled. The dog lord rose and paced to the window, “Shiziru said that she must be taken willingly, and when she has ripened” Youko blinked, “As in fertile?” he asked. Sesshoumaru shook his head, “It would make little sense to impregnate the Mekharat. No, it means something else entirely and I am not certain what it is”. He disliked not having all the answers, but he was aware that he would know what it was when the time came. Inuyasha growled loudly, “Hey assholes I’m talkin to you” . Sesshoumaru met his gaze. “I understand your concern for the Mekharat Inuyasha” his voice was icy, “However your fears are misplaced. She is ours to protect. Telling her this thing at this point would not be well accepted, nor would it serve her. She must make the decision, free of pressures and restrictions”. Inuyasha’s eyes narrowed for a moment, “As long as you two remember that” he groused a final time. Youko nodded, his thoughts running parallel. “We need a safe house” he mused, his lips drawing upward, “I know of just the place”. Sesshoumaru lifted his brow, “You refer to your own den” he remarked. Youko nodded, “It suits our needs”. The dog considered this, “So it does” . Inuyasha watched them closely, “So you will take her to Makai then?”. He had hoped they might find another option. Youko regarded him silently for a moment, “if it could be avoided, it would be”. Inuyasha looked out the window, “There’ll be hell to pay for this” he predicted. Sesshoumaru nodded, “Can you defend my home?” he asked. Inuyasha flipped him off, “I ain’t a weakling”. Youko cocked his head, “Rebel mikos, angry youkai. There will be a great deal of danger for you and Kagome” he reasoned. Natasha ‘keh’d’. “Like we ain’t seen that before. I doubt they’ll get past her barriers. Don’t worry about us”. Sesshoumaru nodded, “Then it is decided. We flee to Makai with the Mekharat and take up positions in your den. I do hope it’s liveable. You’ve not been back there in some time”. Youko shrugged, “The plants will have taken care of it”. Sesshoumaru turned back to view the day through his tall windows, “It is decided then”While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
