Chapter Eleven

Kagome covered a laugh as she watched Yomi fall to his knees after her son had taken a low blow to the guard. She felt sorry and the inu youkai was bent over and trying to regain his breath. She felt the baby kick within her and sigh. This little one seemed to be taking its sweet time in coming. It was already close to ten months and still it had not even given a sign that it was ready to be born. She was getting tired of being pregnant and more than ready to hold her child in her arms.
“Mommy, are you okay?”
She looked at her son and smiled “I’m fine, just a little tired”
He quickly ran up to her “then you should go sleep mommy”
“Perhaps a nap is a good idea,” she agreed. She did feel a little tired.
He smiled “I will go with you” he turned to glance at his guard then turned back to his mother “I don’t think Yomi is going to get up anytime soon”
Kagome laughed as she stood up “I think you kicked him a little too hard”
“I will agree with you my lady” Yomi grunted.
“Will you be alright?” she asked, worried.
He smirked at her “I will be fine in a moment or two, I will catch up”
She turned to the door “okay, I think I’ll read a bit before I nap so we’ll be in the library for a bit” when he nodded, she left and began making her way to the library.
Once there she had Kishi help her to sit on a cushion and continued reading a story that she had started the day before. She read aloud so her son could hear the story. Together they stayed in the library for a few hours with Yomi, after he recovered, joining them and listening to the story. Kagome had spent some time teaching her son to read and after awhile she had the guard pick out a simple story for her son to read aloud. While he read, Yomi excused himself and returned to his duties.
“And they lived happily ever after” Kishi finished “the end”
“Good job” she praised as she hugged him close “I can’t get ever how well you can read and with so little practice”
“It’s easy mommy,” he said like it was nothing “and I like reading”
“There’s nothing wrong with that” she said.
An elderly servant approached them “forgive my interruptions my lady, but the lord sent me to tell you that it is supper time”
Kagome smiled “thank you, we’ll be right there” she then frowned and glanced around before blushing back at the servant “think you could help me up?”
The woman smiled and bowed as she offered her hand “of course my lady”
The miko laughed as the servant helped her up “I can’t wait till I can get up on my own again or better yet, lose the weight and see my toes again” her stomach had become quite large in the last three months and it was making her wonder just how big her child would be.
“I’m sure it will be any day now” she replied, helping the lady up.
Kagome gave a sigh “I’m starting to wonder” but then smiled “but I’m sure you’re right, it can’t last forever”
“Come on mommy” Kishi said, tugging on her sleeve “I’m hungry”
She looked down at him and laughed softly “okay let’s go”
The servant bowed again and left the room while the two took their time walking down the hall. Kagome held her son’s hand as they began to near the dinning room when suddenly she felt a sharp pain that made her gasp, let go of her son’s hand and lean against the wall to balance herself.
“Mommy!” Kishi shouted as he went to her side quickly “mommy, are you okay?”
She took a deep breath and let it out slowly “yeah, yeah I’m fine”
“Did the baby kick you hard again?” he asked.
“Yeah it did” she replied as she gave him a reassuring smile “sorry if it scared you”
He frowned as he began to follow his mother down the hall again “will it come out soon? I don’t like how the baby hurts you”
“I’ll be fine” she confidently “the baby should be born soon” she gasped and stopped walking when she felt a sharp pain again this time followed by feeling that she pissed herself. She frowned a moment.
Kishi stared at her “mommy?”
“Go get your father” she said as she leaned against the wall as the pain came again.
“Mommy?” he said worried.
She smiled at him “it’s okay just go get your father. I think the baby is finally ready to come out”
His eyes widened and he took off down the hall as fast as he could. He turned a corner and ran into the dinning room where he saw his father waiting “daddy! Come quick”
Sesshoumaru was on instant alert as he stood up “what is it?"
Kishi was practically bouncing in spot as he waited for his father to approach “it’s mommy, she thinks the baby is coming!”
The taiyoukai followed his son out and down the hall where they found her sitting on the ground and breathing hard “Kagome”
She looked up and gave a half smile “I think it’s time”
“Son” he said as he picked his female up “go ahead of us and tell the healer”
The pup nodded and was running off down the halls again until he reached the healer’s room where he nearly knocked down a few other youkai. He finally stopped when he was right in front of the healer who was stitching a soldier’s wound.
The healer smiled at the boy and noticed he was out of breath “what were you running here for?”
“Daddy is bringing mommy here cause she thinks the baby is coming!” he said quickly, sounding a bit out of breath.
“What?” the healer said surprised as he turned to look at the boy and accidentally pulled on the stitch causing the soldier to growl at him. He ignored the youkai he was treating “did you say what I think you said?”
Kishi nodded.
“Shit!” he shouted and quickly looked at a servant that was walking by “get the midwife now! Prepare the birthing room for the lady of the west! Start warming up water and get towels and a blanket!” he ordered quickly, seeing as the servant was frozen stiff in shock, he growled, “I mean now! Go, go!”
Startled suddenly, she ran off to do as she was told. In no time there were servants running around and getting everything ready by the time the western lord showed up with his mate, which wasn’t long.
They had the birthing room ready by the time the taiyoukai arrived carrying his mate and he set her on the bed, his son coming up beside him. He moved to leave, but she grabbed his hand “stay” she said quietly.
“I cannot” he said simply “it is forbidden for men to be in the room”
She looked at him “not in my time”
“This is not your time,” he reasoned.
“No, but I want you to stay”
He gave a shake of his head “I cannot”
“I’ll stay mommy” Kishi spoke, but it was easy to tell he was nervous and worried about what was happening.
Sesshoumaru turned to his son “it is forbidden for us to be in the room, we must leave now”
Kagome could see her son was ready to cry and she took his head “don’t worry, when I see you after you’ll get to meet your new brother or sister”
He nodded “okay, I’ll see you after”
“Okay, go with your father and have your supper” she smiled.
The midwife came in. She was an elderly inu youkai that had served in the fortress for many, many years. She had helped birth the taiyoukai and so it was decided she would help bring his second child into the word. She bowed to them “I’m afraid I’ll have to ask you two men to leave”
Sesshoumaru gave a nod and placed his lips on his female’s forehead before nodding to his son and together they left.
Kagome waited till they were gone and sure they were out of hearing range before clutching her stomach and giving a cry of pain. The midwife walked over to her and placed some pressure on her stomach “when did the pains begin, my lady?”
“Just as we were on our way to supper” she answered “I thought it was just the baby kicking until the pain came for a second time and then I felt my water break”
The woman looked at her confused “you’ve felt no other pain today?”
She shook her head “no I haven’t” she cried out and tried to calm her breathing “but I’m really feeling it now!"
The woman then directed her in regulating her breathing and then they had no choice, but to wait until the baby was close enough to the opening to be pushed out. It took nearly three hours before Kagome was able to start pushing. It took 20 minutes before the midwife claimed she could see the head and a short time after that a baby’s cry could be heard. She turned her head to see her new baby, but only saw the midwife’s back.
“Well done my lady,” the midwife said as she moved to clean the infant “it’s a boy”
Kagome let out a breath as a servant wiped the sweat off her forehead and smiled “well Sesshoumaru will be happy to hear that” she said breathlessly “can I see my new son?”
“Just allow me to finish cleaning him, my lady”
She sighed “of course” she groaned as she felt a sharp pinch of pain.
The servant wiped her forehead some more “are you alright my lady?”
“I’m feeling some pain,” she whimpered before giving a cry of pain.
The servant nervously put a hand on the lady’s stomach and gasped as she pulled her hand back “midwife!”
“What is it?” she asked as she wrapped up the pup in a blanket.
“I felt movement in the lady’s stomach”
The midwife’s head whipped around “what?”
The servant looked at her nervously “she said she is feeling pain, I placed my hand there and felt movement”
The woman quickly set the newborn between two towels so it could not fall anywhere before turning back to the lady. She looked at the servant “watch the newborn to make sure he doesn’t fall” she then focused on the lady of the west and gasped, “I-I need another blanket!” she called out in surprise “there’s another baby!”
Kagome groaned as she heard the woman “just get it out already!”
A servant ran in with another blanket while another ran in with some extra towels. Not very long after that a second cry was heard, louder than the first infant. The midwife smiled “it’s another boy”
“Can I see them?” Kagome asked, though she felt very tired. She could only guess how late at night it was.
The midwife gave a nod “I’ll show you the first born while this second one is cleaned up”
The miko smiled as the servant brought her newborn, sleeping son to her. She unwrapped the blanket so she could see her new son’s face and was very surprised. He didn’t look an ounce human, he looked nothing like she had expected. She had figured since they would be hanyou they would look some what like Inuyasha, but that was not the case. She had often heard her eldest son called a pup, but her newest son actually looked like one. He looked completely canine in every sense; he even had a tail. He had a canine face and his body was completely covered in silver fur, but he had five fingers that he could move instead of paws. It was an indication that he would be able to walk and move like a human. She could see he didn’t have teeth and he didn’t seem to have claws. He really was a puppy, a very cute pup. She smiled and held him close.
“My lady, here is your other son” the midwife said as she had the her lay on her back and placed the infant in her other arm and removed the blanket so the face could be seen.
Kagome saw that the second one looked exactly the same only he had black fur. She gave a small sigh; well at least she’d be able to tell them apart. She couldn’t wait till they were both awake and she could see the color of their eyes.
“Shall I get the lord, my lady?” the servant asked.
She thought for a moment. It was late in the night and she knew Kishi would be in bed by now, but she wasn’t sure if Sesshoumaru would be still awake. Chances were he would be because he would want to see his newest additions and with that thinking she looked at the servant and nodded “yes, would you?”
The servant bowed and left the room. A few minutes later the taiyoukai entered the room and walked over to her “are you well?”
“Tired and sore, but that’s to be expected” she replied and looked down to her two new boys “meet your new sons” she watched as he stared at his sons. She had to admit to her self that she was worried what he might think. She gave a small frown the longer he remained silent “what do you think?”
He glanced at her “they look strong and healthy”
“You aren’t disgusted by the way they look?” she asked nervously.
He nudged her head with his “they are healthy and that’s all that matters”
She smiled “really?”
“I do not lie,” he stated.
“Mommy” said a tired voice.
Kagome looked past the taiyoukai to see Kishi standing there, rubbing one of his eyes tiredly “hey, I thought you’d be sleeping by now”
“I wanted to see you,” he said as he walked up to her “and I wanted to see my new sibling”
She gave a tired laugh “well do I have a surprise, you don’t have one, you have two new brothers”
Kishi’s eyes widened “two brothers?” he looked down at the two bundles in his mother’s arms “is that them?”
“It is” she smiled “want to come see?”
Slowly, he walked up to his mother and got to take a look at his new brothers “they look weird”
“I never want to hear you say that again” she said sternly “they can’t help how they look”
“But they do” he insisted.
“Just think of them not being able to take a human form like you can,” she suggested.
He raised an eyebrow in consideration before he smiled as he continued to stare at his new brothers “then they’re okay”
She gave a quiet laugh, “they’ll do?”
He nodded “yeah”
“Okay then, it’s late,” she said “I want you to go to bed now”
“But I want to stay with you” he whined.
Sesshoumaru growled “listen to your mother, you will see her in the morning”
He frowned and lowered his head “okay”
Kagome gave a small smile “before you go to bed you have to give me a hug goodnight”
The boy looked up and smiled as he walked up to his mother, being careful not to wake the babies or hurt them, and gave her a hug “love you mommy”
“Love you too” she replied and kissed his cheek “have a goodnight and I’ll see you in the morning”
Kagome watched him leave before looking up at the taiyoukai “so you’re really okay with the way they look?”
“I have already said so” he answered “now feed our sons and then get some rest”
She nodded as she got his help to place the pups on each of her breasts. She was again a new mother and would now have to deal with the many feedings that came with newborn infants.

The next morning Kagome woke to whines and whimpers. Sitting up she saw she was still in the birthing room, alone, with the twins. She moved to stand, but the pain from giving birth had her sitting back on the bed. Hearing their version of crying, she tried standing again and smiled when she was able to make it. Slowly she made her way to the crib that she asked Sesshoumaru to have
made, but looking into it she could see that it wouldn’t fit the two of them for long since it was originally made for one baby, not two.
“Mommy!”
She turned and caught her son as he ran into her arms “good morning Kishi” she looked down at him “I thought for sure you’d be sleeping in today”
“I’m too excited” he exclaimed “I’m a big brother now!”
“You certainly are” she smiled “now have you eaten yet?”
He pulled away and shook his head “no”
“Then I want you to go have breakfast while I give these two their breakfast” she replied as she leaned in and lifted the whining silver pup out.
Kishi raised an eyebrow as he watched his mother return to the bed “don’t they eat the same food we do?”
She gave a small laugh and shook her head “no they don’t” she opened the pup’s mouth so she could show her son “see, they don’t have any teeth yet”
“So then what do they eat?” he asked as he looked over to the other whining pup in the crib.
“My body makes milk for them” she answered “it will help them get big and keep them healthy”
He eyed his mother in confusion “how do they get the food?”
“From your mother’s breasts”
Kishi turned around to see his father enter the room “good morning father”
Sesshoumaru gave a nod to his son before looking at his mate “how are you feeling?”
“A bit tired and sore, but I’m okay,” she answered.
He then eyed the pup in her arms “and the pups?”
“Hungry” she giggled.
He gave another nod “then they should be fed” he looked at his eldest “go get your breakfast, I will be there in a moment”
Kishi frowned “I want to see my new brothers eat”
Sesshoumaru growled, “do as I say”
Kagome could see that their son was curious and wanted to stay to learn. She figured that since he was only 5 years old now that it wouldn’t be a big deal to let him see. After all, he still bathed with her at times. She looked up at the taiyoukai “I don’t see the harm in letting him see how his brothers eat”
He looked at her, his face devoid of emotion “very well” he walked over to the crib and gathered the black pup in his arm before walking back over to his female and setting the pup in her opposite arm. He then undid her sash and opened her kimono.
Kishi watched as his father helped his brothers’ mouths find his mother’s breasts and then stroked their chins to help them start to suck “why don’t they know how to eat?”
Kagome glanced at her son “because they’re too young to know anything”
“They don’t know anything…at all?” he wondered as he stepped closer.
“Well” she said, “they know how to cry when their hungry, need changing, or need attention”
Kishi wrinkled his noise “sounds like they’re going to cry a lot”
She nodded “yeah they probably will, but you were exactly the same”
“I was?” he asked, eyeing the pups as they ate.
“Yes, but they’ll grow out of it just like you did when they are able to voice what is wrong with them” she spoke.
Kishi nodded “okay”
They grew silent and waited for the pups to finish before Kagome sent her son and Sesshoumaru to the dinning hall while she got changed. For the next while she would be having her meals in the bedroom just like she had with Kishi, but she felt better about it this time around. She knew Sesshoumaru wasn’t about to leave her in a room all alone this time around, but she understood that no one was to see the pups until they were a few months older. He had told her it was the canine thing to keep the pups hidden away for the first while until they were a bit bigger and had a better awareness of their surroundings. During the few months away from the public they would develop a bond with her before anyone else. She had asked him at that point if that was why Kishi had been…territorial about her with him. The taiyoukai had been silent for awhile and then explained that it was natural for pups to be territorial of their mothers and see their father’s as a threat, but Kishi had seen him as a threat for a little while longer since he didn’t know who his father was. Though it wasn’t said out loud they both knew who was to blame for that reason and Kagome could tell, while he didn’t show it, Sesshoumaru did have regrets about missing out on the first year of his son’s life and she was sure even her pregnancy with their son.
She got the feeling that if he could have been around while she was pregnant with Kishi he’d behave exactly the same way he did when she was pregnant this time around. If he hadn’t used dreams to get her pregnant or at least have let her know what was happening she felt things would have turned out far different than they did. Perhaps better in the beginning, but she couldn’t continue to linger on the past too long. What was done was done and she couldn’t change it.
Hearing a knock at the door and a servant announce themselves, Kagome covered the pups and called for the servant to enter. Seeing the food she smiled and thanked the woman as she left. Uncovering the pups she smiled at them, but noticed they still had yet to open their eyes so she could see what color their eyes were. It gave her concern and she only hoped nothing was wrong with them.
“What brings that look of concern to your face?”
Kagome turned to the door “I’m worried about them, they haven’t opened their eyes yet”
Sesshoumaru entered the room and stared at the pups for a few moments “there is nothing to concern yourself over, they will be fine”
“Are you sure?” she asked, sounding unconvinced.
“It will be some time before they are able to open their eyes” he replied “real canine pups cannot open their eyes upon birth and our pups hold that trait”
She started eating some of her egg now that she felt more relaxed “how long do you think it will be till they can open their eyes?”
“I am unable to say,” he said as he moved to sit next to her “every pup is different and they are not full blooded youkai pups”
She nodded “I hope it’s soon, I want to see what color their eyes are” hearing a noise at the door she looked to see Kishi entering “did you eat?”
He nodded “yes, but can I eat with you?”
“Why?” she asked, not that she was complaining. She guessed the best part about her son becoming old enough to talk is that she now had someone to keep her company.
“I don’t like leaving you to eat alone” he replied.
She smiled “then you can join me any time you wish”
Kishi grinned, but then looked at his father seriously “will daddy join us as well?”
Sesshoumaru was silent before he gave a nod, which brought a smile to Kagome’s face.

Over the next week Kagome had company during her meals. Though she had to stay in a room because of the pups, she found it far better than before. At least this time around she knew why she had to stay in the room and she felt much better about it since she had company with her. Kishi often spent his days with his mother, not only joining her for meals. He would run errands if she needed something, normally a book to read or a snack. He would also take over watching the pups so she could nap. Even Sesshoumaru took a more active role in pups lives. Though he still had to run the lands he took time to join her for meals and also give her a chance to get out of the room and walk about. Still, she couldn’t go for long walks because he would not hold the pups, but she knew that men did not hold their children. That age-old habit broke in her grandfather’s days, so she found it hard to ask a man 500 years in the past to hold their children.
Kagome realized she couldn’t ask Sesshoumaru to be a man like she was used to in her time. She couldn’t ask him to be a man that shows affection in public to her or to their children. In this day and age that would be showing weakness and he could lose face with any that might want to become his enemy. Men cared for their wives and children by working hard to provide and shelter them. Women returned the favor by cooking, cleaning, and having their children. However, for her, it was not so simple. Being lady of the western lands, a title she was still getting use to, she wasn’t allowed to cook or clean just bare children and raise them. She continued to remind her self that in feudal era it was considered improper to even kiss in public and she should be thankful that Sesshoumaru even showed such affections when other people were around, though it was a rare sight. Still, she knew she should be happy that the taiyoukai did treat her better than if she had gotten with another male of this time and age.
Often that brought her mind to Inuyasha. If he had confessed his love for her before Sesshoumaru had gotten to her, would things have turned out differently? She had a feeling they would. She and Inuyasha would have become a couple and would might have eventually have gotten married. If that had happened then she would have had Inuyasha’s child, but if it was Inuyasha’s child, would her first born been a boy or a girl? Would the baby look like the newborns she had or would they look almost entirely human? She wouldn’t be lady of the west either; she would be a normal wife and mother living in Kaede’s village near Inuyasha’s forest. It made her wonder what would that life had been like instead of the one she got now.
Living in the village she would be with her friends and she’d be able to talk with Sango about all this baby stuff. Though, would Inuyasha behave the same as Sesshoumaru when it came to pregnancy and the birth of their children? Would he become over protective and not want to allow people near her or their children when they were first born? There were so many questions she had, but they would never get any answers. While in her heart she still had feelings for Inuyasha, she had come to love Sesshoumaru in her own way. She found her feelings for him growing every day, but she still could not bring herself to say she loved him right to his face. For some reason she knew he would never return those words out loud.
“You seem distracted tonight”
Startled from her thoughts she turned to see the taiyoukai enter their bedroom “I didn’t hear you come in”
“As I’ve said, you seem distracted tonight” he repeated as he approached her “you did not noticed my presence, I could have been an intruder”
She shivered at the thought “it won’t happen again”
“Hnn, see that it doesn’t” he said, “what has your mind occupied?"
Kagome shrugged. She didn’t want to tell him what was really on her mind, but perhaps now was her chance to ask another question that had been on her mind lately “what do you want to call our newest additions?”
The taiyoukai removed his shirt as he began to get ready for bed “there is still plenty of time to think of that”
“How long?” she asked, “in my time babies are named as soon as they are born”
“And in this time, children have to earn their names” he replied “and the father names them”
Kagome shook her head “that’s not true, Inuyasha got his name when he was first born and I named Kishi”
“My father named him just before he died” he said “as for our son, you named him without my consent”
“Don’t make me remind you what was going on at that time” she glared “I wasn’t going to spend all that time with a nameless baby”
He made no comment “come to bed”
Knowing she needed the sleep, she nodded and joined him on the futon “I still would like to name our sons. There’s two of them and I’d like to call them by names instead of older, younger, silver, or black”
For a few moments he was silent “very well, what do you wish to call them?”
“I don’t know,” she answered as she looked over to where the two were sleeping “do you have any ideas?”
“Kuro for the black one” he said simply.
She raised an eyebrow at him “Kuro means black”
“Then it suits him”
“Don’t you care about naming them?” she asked, “they are going to have these names for the rest of their life”
“You may name the first born then,” he stated.
Kagome was silent a moment as she thought about it “Riku”
“Riku?” he repeated, looking at her.
“Back home there was a game I often saw my brother playing” she explained “he often said how he wished he could play the character Riku instead of the one he had to play”
The taiyoukai eyed her before giving a nod “very well, we will name him Riku and the other will be Kuro”
Well she suppose she should be happy that he allowed the pups to be named and participated “alright, but if Kuro has any issues with his name I’m telling him to take it up with you”
“Very well then” he agreed, “let us sleep, the pups will be up in a short time to feed”
Giving a yawn she nodded “okay” she smiled as she felt his arm go around her waist as he pulled her closer to him. It was a feeling she loved to feel “Sesshoumaru?”
“Hnn” he said, the only indication he heard her.
“Did you ever want to have more children like Kishi?” she asked.
“You mean full blooded” he clarified.
She gave a small nod “yeah”
“It does not matter, I have my heir” he spoke “what has brought this question on? You are not ready to conceive again”
“I know I’m not” she said “I think I’m okay having kids for awhile, at least until the three we have are older, but I was just thinking do you want to have more?”
“Let us sleep, the pups will be up and you need the rest”
She rolled over in his grasp to face him “Sesshoumaru, I want to know” she watched as he opened his eyes to look at her.
“Perhaps” he said as he closed his eyes.
“There’s another thing I’ve been wanting to ask,” she said.
He growled lightly “sleep”
“It’s about the dream method you used” she continued, “there’s something I don’t understand about it”
He opened his eyes; looking quite annoyed “it’s been over 5yrs since then and you are choosing now to want to discuss it?”
“Yes” her voice sounding resolute “I’ve been wanting to ask for the longest time, I just haven’t had the nerve to ask”
Staying silent as he rolled on to his back to look at the ceiling “very well, what is it you wish to know?”
“I did some reading about youkai entering dreams and there’s something I don’t understand,” she stated, “it said that the youkai had to be near the person whose dreams they were entering and when I over heard Jaken speaking he said that you were near by the whole time”
“That is correct”
“Okay, but the parts I don’t understand is how were you able to enter my dreams so quickly when I passed out those few times?” she asked “or stay in them like when I went to my world after I hit my head?”
“Once in a dream the connection cannot be easily broken,” he answered.
Kagome took a minute to think about it “so because you were already in my dreams, since I was unconscious, you were able to stay in my dreams”
He gave a nod “once I allowed you to wake up I was unable to enter your dreams until you returned”
“That’s why I didn’t dream of you after I first woke up in the hospital” she said as she finally understood what happened “you said the connection couldn’t be easily broken once you were in my dreams, how was I able to get you out those few times when I was mad at you?”
“You didn’t” he stated “only I could break the connection”
Hearing that she sat up so she could better look at him “you mean those times I was angry and wanted you out, you broke the connection?”
He gave another nod “only I could end the connection”
She smiled at him. Those times when she had wanted to get away from him, he could have kept her there and forced her to deal with him. Instead he had released her from the dreams. Did that mean he had feelings for her? Would he ever say so? She grew nervous as they stared at each other “Sesshoumaru…do…do you…love me?”
“One cannot answer what one does not know,” he said.
“What does that mean?” she asked “you don’t know if you love me after all this time?”
He reached his hand out and touched her hand “no I do not. However I do not want to lose you”
“Is it because you need me to raise our children?” she questioned “or because you want me?”
“I do not want our children without their mother” he stated “and I do not want to be without you”
She lay down once again and curled up next to him. Taking a deep breath she finally said what she’d been thinking, “I think I love you”
“You do not know?” he asked, though it sounded more like a statement.
She nodded “I still have feelings for Inuyasha and I think a part of me always will. After all he was the first guy I ever had feelings for, but I’ve gotten to know you over the past few years. Never in my life did I think I would be mated to you or have your children, but I am and I have. Before I thought you were a cold blooded, emotionless youkai. Since then I have learned you’re not cold blooded, you are a warrior. You’re not as emotionless as you seem and you are a man, not just a youkai”
Leaning up, the taiyoukai leaned over her and kissed her lips “and that is why I chose you to be by my side”
“Why?” she said, a little confused.
“You see me as no other does” he stated, “you do not fear me or what I am”
“There was a time I did” she admitted “but at some point I didn’t fear you as much as I had”
He placed a kiss on her forehead “let us sleep, the pups will want to feed soon”
She covered a yawn “okay”
