opinion on how I am doing so far.
Chapter 11
After they were done eating Kagome tried to figure out
sleeping arrangements. Sesshomaru insisted that he didn’t need sleep and Bankotsu didn’t want to leave her alone with Sesshomaru. Finally
she determined that Sesshomaru could stay downstairs
and watch TV and Bankotsu could sleep in her
brother’s room on the floor. It took a
little while, but she managed to get them to agree.
Sesshomaru wanted to stay in her room to watch
over her and Bankotsu was upset at the suggestion. She managed to convince Sesshomaru
that he would hear her if she needed anything and Bankotsu
finally agreed after Sesshomaru agreed to stay
downstairs. Bankotsu
almost flipped when Sesshomaru suggested staying in
her room. What was this guy planning? She just went through a rough time and he was
already trying to put moves on her?
Kagome showed Sesshomaru how to
work the remote for the TV then led Bankotsu upstairs
and to Souta’s room.
She grabbed some extra blankets and a pillow from the closet and helped
get him set up, assuring him that she was right down the hall and if she needed
anything he would hear her. He nodded
and gave her a quick hug and settled down on the pallet she made.
Kagome shook her head and sighed as she left the room. She knew that the men were in some kind of
competition over her and it was a little annoying. She had already shown them where the bathroom
was earlier and now she was ready for bed since they were both taken care of. She went to her room and changed into one of
her sleeveless shirts and panties before falling into bed, she was exhausted.
Within minutes she started to drift off. At first she floated happily in her own mind,
but then her dreams started to take a darker turn. She found herself standing in front of Sesshomaru’s palace.
The palace was almost invisible behind the barrier, but the children and
the Shichinintai were outside the barrier. She couldn’t hear them, but the kids seemed
to be smiling and happy as they played.
Jaken’s mouth moved nonstop as he gave them
dirty looks. Probably
insulting them again. The Shichinintai seemed to be training as they watched over the
children. Everything seemed so bright
and happy, but as she stood there watching a dark cloud started to move over
the scene. Everyone stopped what they
were doing and looked toward the dark cloud moving their way.
Kagome felt a chill go up her spine, she recognized this
aura. She turned to see Naraku moving toward the group. She tried to yell at them to move back into
the barrier, but no sound came out. Naraku smiled evilly and suddenly sent out hundreds of
demons toward the group. Kagome watched
helplessly as the demon’s attacked. The Shichinintai moved in front of the children as the demons
attacked.
Kagome watched in horror as one by one they started to fall,
ripped to pieces. She saw Jakotsu grab both children and run for the barrier with
demons right on his heels. The demons
sprung and Jakotsu fell with both children in his
arms. Tears streamed down her face as
the demons tore at Jakotsu as he shielded the
children with his body. Within seconds
he fell dead, leaving the children unguarded.
The demons looked at the two small children. They were holding each other and calling for
someone. Kagome could swear she heard both
of them scream Mommy and tried desperately to get to them, but she was
stuck. The demons attacked and Kagome
screamed.
“No!” she screamed shooting up in bed.

Sesshomaru flipped through the channels on the
TV. He had been sitting down here for a
few hours now. It would be dawn in
another few hours and they could leave.
He just changed the channel again when he heard Kagome scream upstairs. He dropped the remote and flew up the stairs
faster than he ever thought possible.

Bankotsu was tossing and turning in his room,
barely managing to doze. He had been
laying there for a few hours now and he just couldn’t relax. He suddenly jumped up when he heard Kagome
scream. He jumped out of bed and ran to
her room as fast as he could. He saw a flash
of white pass him as he went.

Kagome was breathing hard and tears still streamed down her
face when Sesshomaru came rushing in closely followed
by Bankotsu. Sesshomaru took one look at her and moved to pull her into
his arms.
“Kagome what happened?”
Bankotsu walked closer to them noticing that
she was shaking still and had tears streaming down her face.
“Did you have a nightmare?” Bankotsu
asked.
Kagome shook her head and tried to calm down to tell
them. After a minute she managed to get
herself under control enough to tell them her dream.
“We have to go back to the palace now. They will all die, we have to go,” she said
frantically holding Sesshomaru’s haori
in a deathgrip.
“Kagome, it was just a dream,” Bankotsu
said.
“No it wasn’t, it was a vision, I
know it. We have to go now. Judging from the light it was only a few
hours past dawn. We have to hurry,” she
cried.
“Ok Kagome we will go.
Grab your stuff,” Sesshomaru said releasing
her.
He didn’t know if it was just a dream, but he could tell she
was really upset by it. He didn’t want
to take the chance of losing Rin or Shippo. Kagome stood
up and Sesshomaru and Bankotsu
quickly turned around realizing that she was barely dressed. They heard her moving around quickly and the
rustle of clothing. Within a matter of
only a few minutes she was done getting ready.
She grabbed her bag with all of her supplies and they all
rushed out the door. Even Bankotsu could feel Kagome’s anxiety as they rushed down
the stairs. How could they possibly make
it in time?
As if reading his mind Sesshomaru
said, “When we get back to our time we will have to travel on my cloud to make
it in time.”
Kagome nodded and threw open the door to the well house. They followed her in and took her hands as
they jumped into the well. The light
surrounded them and they gently touched down on the other side. Sesshomaru grabbed
them both and jumped out, he then surrounded them with his cloud and they flew
off. Bankotsu
was amazed at how fast they were traveling.
Everything below zipped by in a blur.
Sesshomaru flew as fast as he could, he could
feel Kagome’s anxiety grow as the time went by.
He could see the sun starting to rise and felt his own anxiety level
begin to rise. They would be cutting it
close, but he could not lose the children.
Bankotsu was also becoming anxious, he didn’t
want to lose his brothers and if Kagome was right he would lose them all if
they didn’t make it in time.
Kagome and Sesshomaru felt a little
relief when the palace finally came into view, but time was almost up. They saw the children playing outside the
palace grounds with Jaken and the Shichinintai
watching over them. The Shichinintai were training as they watched over the little
ones. Kagome tensed up as she felt the
all too familiar aura approach. She felt
Sesshomaru tense as well and knew he sensed it as
well.
Kagome quickly masked all of their aura’s
so Naraku wouldn’t detect them. Sesshomaru turned
toward her questioningly and landed in the forest about ten feet from the
group.
“What are you doing?” he asked
“I masked our aura’s so Naraku does not know we are here. Bankotsu go and get
the children and warn your men that Naraku is
coming.”
Bankotsu nodded in understanding of what she
was planning and ran to do as told.
Kagome didn’t relax until Jaken had the
children safely inside the barrier. Bankotsu must have told him of the plan because it looked
like he was just taking them inside for a meal or something. Sesshomaru noticed
a flash and turned to see Kagome back in her fighting suit. Bankotsu casually
walked over to his men and called them in for a huddle.
“Good, he’s making it look like nothing is wrong. We will catch Naraku
by surprise.”
“I have to admit Kagome, I wasn’t sure to believe if it was a
vision or not, but I am glad I trusted you.
I wouldn’t want to lose either of the children.”
Kagome smiled at Sesshomaru and
took his hand giving it a quick squeeze.
Then she raised her hand and the black orb formed. She reached in and pulled out her sword. Sesshomaru drew Tetsusaiga and readied for Naraku. They watched as a cloud started to come over
the clearing. Kagome felt Naraku draw closer.
“It’s almost time, I don’t think we
will kill him this time though. It
doesn’t feel right,” Kagome said watching the clearing closely.
Sesshomaru nodded and turned his attention back
to the clearing that was now completely shadowed. Naraku stood there
smiling.
“So you thought to betray me did you? Well I guess I will have to take care of
you,” he said and summoned the demons.
Kagome took Sesshomaru’s hand and
they both sprang from their spot in the forest.
Sesshomaru took her signal and swung her
sending her flying toward a flock of the demons. Kagome struck the demons with her sword as
she landed. The Shichinintai
were fighting not even five feet from her.
Kagome split her swords and attacked.
The demons were purified the instant her sword touched them. Naraku glared at
her.
“What is going on?
Your aura is weak, how are you doing this?” he yelled sending more
demons at her.
He had no idea that Kagome was hiding most of her power from
him. She didn’t want him to know until
the time was right. She crossed her swords
in front of her.
“Shikon’s Light!” she screamed
sending the surge of power toward all the lesser demons.
As naraku was distracted by the
attack Kagome charged. She sprang up
landing on one of his tentacles and then quickly ran up to him. She jumped at him and flipped slicing his
back as she landed behind him. Sesshomaru now stood in front of her. He had just killed the demons sent after
him. His attention turned to her when he
heard Naraku scream.
She grinned and held out her hand to Sesshomaru.
He smirked as he saw the glint in her eye and took her
hand. He loved this girl! Together they jumped and kicked Naraku in the back sending him flying forward. Kagome stuck her sword into the ground and
winked at Sesshomaru.
Somehow he knew what she was planning.
As soon as Naraku stood Sesshomaru
grasped her hand tighter and swung her so she landed a kick right in Naraku’s face.
Naraku glared at them and sent tentacles
toward them. Kagome landed in front of Sesshomaru. She
grabbed his arms and wrapped them around her waist. Then put both her hands palms toward Naraku. The
tentacles were suddenly turned to dust as they hit a wall of light in front of
Kagome. As soon as the tentacles were
gone Sesshomaru tossed Kagome in the air. She curled in a ball gathering energy.
When she felt she had enough she shot her arms and legs out
sending a huge orb of power straight at Naraku. The evil hanyou’s
eyes widened as the orb grew bigger the closer it got, there was no way to
avoid it. It hit him and a scream
pierced the air as his body began to disintegrate. Sesshomaru caught
Kagome and gently sat her on her feet.
When the light disappeared they saw the disembodied head of Naraku floating away.
“You may have destroyed my body, but I will be back. Then you will be mine miko,
I will have that power.”

Bankotsu fought off the demons that attacked
him trying to keep an eye on Kagome.
When he saw her fighting not far away he tried to move to her. The demons blocked him though. Jakotsu fought at
his side and they guarded each others backs. Bankotsu almost
panicked when he couldn’t see Kagome anymore.
Where was she, did Naraku get her? He continued to fight as he looked around
frantically.
Then he saw Naraku fly forward and
Kagome and Sesshomaru jumped in front of him. Bankotsu felt a
surge of jealousy as he noticed they were holding hands. What was going on? He killed another demon and watched as they
fought together with perfect precision.
It was almost like they could read each others
minds.
Then Bankotsu had to break his
attention away again as he heard Renkotsu cry out in
pain. He quickly slashed through the
demon in front of him and him and Jakotsu ran toward
their comrade. They could see his hand
sticking out from a pile of demons and quickly slashed their way through. When they finally got the last one off though
it was only to find that they were too late.
Renkotsu lay on the ground dead, covered in
blood.
Bankotsu looked around trying to find the
rest of his brothers. The demons were
all gone, only Naraku remained. Bankotsu spotted
the rest of his brothers close to the forest.
He ran to them to find that Ginkotsu was also
dead. The only remaining members were Bankotsu, Jakotsu, and Suikotsu. He looked
over Ginkotsu, but knew that there was no way to save
him. He was too badly damaged and his
life was long gone.
A light flashed behind him and he turned to see Kagome in the
air. A large orb of light flew towards Naraku. Bankotsu stood there watching hoping that it would kill
him. If it didn’t he
and his remaining brothers would train and avenge the fallen. The light grew too bright for them to see
what was happening. They shielded their
eyes and waited until the light faded. Bankotsu felt rage course through him as he saw Naraku’s head floating away, and it only increased when he
heard the dark hanyou’s final comment.
“Is everyone ok?” Kagome asked walking up to them followed
closely by Sesshomaru.
“We lost Renkotsu and Ginkotsu. Can you
bring them back?” Bankotsu asked looking at Kagome
hopefully.
Kagome looked at him with sadness in her eyes, “I cannot, Sesshomaru can Tenssaiga revive
them?” she asked turning to Sesshomaru.
Sesshomaru drew Tenssaiga
and held it over the fallen Shichinintai members, but
it did not pulse.
“No I’m afraid Tenssaiga will not
revive them,” he said resheathing the sword.
Bankotsu turned to the tree behind him and
slammed his fist into it. It shook and
creaked from the blow. He turned back to
his brothers, tears threatening to fall.
“Come brothers, let us bury them,” he said picking Banryu back up.
Jakotsu and Suikotsu
nodded and followed Bankotsu to get shovels to dig
graves for their fallen brothers. None
of them spoke. Kagome grabbed a shovel
to help, but Bankotsu took it from her and gave her a
sad smile.
“No it’s ok, we will take care of our brothers, you go rest. Check on
your kit. Thank you, you saved our lives
yet again,” he said kissing her hand.
Kagome felt the tear hit her hand as he pulled away, “Not all
of you,” she said sadly.
“You did what you could.”
Kagome nodded and Sesshomaru took
her hand to lead her inside. He could
feel her sadness at not being able to save them all.
“Kagome, no matter how powerful you are you cannot be
expected to save them all. They cannot
expect it of you and you should not expect it of yourself,” Sesshomaru
said as they entered the barrier.
“I know, but I still feel bad.”
“You cannot always save everyone, trust me,” Sesshomaru said stopping her.
He wiped the tears from her face. He looked at her for a moment then leaned
down and captured her lips with his. He
felt her stiffen, but she relaxed after a few seconds. Her lips felt so soft against his and her
scent surrounded him, comforting him. He
let his aura surround her to comfort her as well. He pulled her closer to his body and licked
her bottom lip surprised at how good she tasted.
She gasped and he took the opportunity to thrust his tongue
into her mouth. Kagome couldn’t believe
it. Sesshomaru
was actually kissing her and it felt so good, so right. Her arms slowly traveled up his chest and
wrapped around his neck. Her knees
started to feel like jelly as his tongue explored her mouth. She felt like she was floating, he tasted so
good, like spices and the forest.
Sesshomaru felt her arms wind around his neck
and heard her sigh into the kiss. He
wrapped his arms more tightly around her waist pulling her closer until she was
pressed against his body. He explored
every inch of her mouth, enjoying the wonderful taste of her. He finally pulled back when they both needed
air. He felt her chest heaving as she
caught her breath. Her breasts were
pushed against his chest and he could feel her heart pounding.
“Kagome?” he asked and waited for her eyes to clear.
“Hmm,” she responded once she came back to herself.
“I’ve been wanting to ask you
something, but I was afraid that it was too soon.”
“What is it Sesshomaru?” she asked
looking into his eyes.
“You are the most amazing person I have ever met. I feel so different when I am with you. I feel so happy and complete. I want nothing more than to protect you and
make you happy. When this is all over,
will you be my mate?” he asked feeling his breath catch in his throat.
