Chapter Eleven

InuYasha was pissed; pissed off at the fact that he was once again pregnant and with twins; the fact that Sesshomaru had known and hadn't told him and the worst part of it that he found out through the scheming Lady of the West Sesshomaru's bitch of a mother which wasn't something he liked. He took a few deep breaths to try and calm himself down; there was no need for him to get stressed. He placed his hand over his flat stomach and smiled warmly; Yuki was now going to be an older brother which was something he had wanted. He stiffened slightly as he sensed his mate approach quietly; his ears flickered however he felt his body melt into the other as his mate's arms snaked around him, pulling the hanyou closer to him.
"Why didn't you tell me?" he asked suddenly breaking the tense silence.
"To be honest I was afraid that you would leave me considering that is what happened last time you found out you were carrying my pup. It has taken five years and you leaving for me to realise that I...love you my InuYasha and that I should have accepted your submission when you freely offered your neck and what did I do? I disguarded you and then soon after you left" InuYasha's ears flickered at the words that came from his mate's lips; something he never thought he'd ever hear. Sesshomaru had admitted that he was afraid of something and it made the demon lord more approachable. He turned around in his brothers arms to face him.
"Last time was different. Last time I chose to defend an innocent life from being destroyed when it had done nothing to deserve it. I believe that once a life is conceived then its the parents responsibility to provide and care for that life. I would never take the life of an innocent especially a child's. I love you too and it hurt to leave but I did it; I did it for our pup and hoped that one day things would work out" InuYasha responded and nuzzled Sesshomaru affectionately and Sesshomaru couldn't help himself as he returned the gesture.
"I love you my mate" whispered Sesshomaru in a twitching ear causing the hanyou to grin to himself.
"It get's easier everytime you say it" he muttered.
"I have to agree with you on that my love. I love you" Sesshomaru could feel his hard cold heart begin to thraw the more time he spent with his mate who had seemed to have forgiven him and his past misdeeds although he was not foolish enough that he would ever stop paying for those crimes towards both his mate and his...son. It was something that would haunt him as he wondered how things would of been had he done the right thing those years ago. InuYasha stiffened slightly.
"Please don't dwell on the past. Lets move forwards from here on and be a family. I want our pups to have a secure upbringing and the only way for that to happen is for us to work together" stated InuYasha and he felt Sesshomaru take a couple of deep breaths to compose himself before he straightened himself as he looked down at his mate.
"Of course my mate. Remember that what was said here between us goes no further"
InuYasha nodded in understanding and the two returned to the family room and waited for Yuki, Kouga and Izayoi to come back for the reunion to begin.
It wasn't too long before the trio had returned and had been escorted into the family room. InuYasha was nervous of how Yuki would take this. As soon as Yuki entered the room he rushed over and hugged his papa.
"Hey squirt did you have a good time?" he asked.
"Yea Uncle Kouga pushed me on the swings and I touched the sky I went so high and then we went really fast on the roundabout and when it stopped I was really dizzy and nearly fell over but uncle Kouga caught me and then we went and uncle Kouga treated us to burger and chips" Yuki beamed as he told his papa.
"Sounds good I wish I had been there" InuYasha said sadly as Yuki scrambled onto his lap. Yuki looked around and noticed two new strangers. His ears flickered in curiosity however he clung to his papa. InuYasha picked up on his son's uneasiness and began to introduce his son to the strangers.
"Yuki I would like you to meet my father, your grandfather the Lord Inu no Tashio" InuYasha began looking at the man with long silver hair that was bound in a high pony tail. He had a blue jaggered stripe, one on each cheek and Yuki sensed great power from him however when the man smiled warmly at him there was a glint in his eyes that showed he was caring and loving. Yuki then looked at the elegant looking lady sitting beside his grandpa.
"Papa who is that baa chan?" he asked as he caused silence to flood the room as everyone turned to watch Lady InuKimi's reaction to being called an old lady. InuKimi's eye twitched as a sour expression appeared on her beautiful face. InuYasha was trying not to laugh but the temptation was too much as he suddenly burst into laughter. Yuki soon joined his papa with even Sesshomaru and Inu no Tashio finding it slightly amusing. InuKimi folded her arms with a scowl on her face as she glared darkly at everyone. Inu no Tashio caught the look and managed to compose himself and decided to end this before it turned ugly.
"Grandson come here please"
Yuki's ears pricked at the authority in his Grandpa's voice and obeyed.
"It is not a good idea to call ladies old. I'm sure she'll accept Grandmother" Inu no Tashio advised the young pup who turned to the lady he had called old and watched as her expression softened as she nodded in agreement. The matter settled Yuki returned to InuYasha who had managed to stop laughing and the reunion continued. Izayoi watched the whole scene play out in front of her and remained silent as she struggled to come to terms with being in the same room as the father of her precious son. Somehow she knew that something else was about to happen.
"Yuki there's something I have to tell you and I need you to listen" Yuki nodded at the seriousness of his papa's voice. His ears flickering.
"The reason I have been unwell is because soon you are going to become a big brother"
Silence filled the room as the news sunk in with everyone reacting differently. Yuki beamed in joy, Kouga nodded with a small smirk on his narrow face while Izayoi seemed worried and quietly left the room unnoticed with the exception of the Inu no Tashio who quietly followed. Inu no Tashio soon caught up with Izayoi who was looking over a balcony deep in thought.
"Izayoi are you alright?" he asked quietly but was not so low that Izayoi couldn't hear his words.
"I'm worried. Before Yuki was born I watched my son as he struggled with his emotions towards Sesshomaru. One minute he'd be cursing the pair of you and then when he thought no one was around he'd pine for him. I'd hear him in the night and it stung that I couldn't help him. Then when Yuki was born he seemed to pull himself together a bit more however as Yuki grew so did his resemblance to his father and I could see the pain in InuYasha. I love my grandson with all my heart but I can't help how I feel" Izayoi responded. Inu no Tashio sighed and approached so he was standing close beside her.
"Things will be different this time. It may not seem like it but Sesshomaru suffered with InuYasha's disappearence; although he may never admit it. He went from one extream to the other. Sesshomaru is a demon in every sense of the word and although I am not pleased with how the claiming happened I do believe that things will work out. Unfortunately Yuki will legally only be seen as his ward however with hard work and perserverance; Yuki can still earn a great deal of respect from the nobles. The only thing we can do is help them however the rest is for the pairto work it out together" Izayoi nodded.
"If I see InuYasha hurt anymore by Sesshomaru I'll hold you personally responsible" and with that she walked passed and there was sense of peace settled between them. They walked back to the room in silence till a roar was heard. The pair rushed in to see a furious Sesshomaru standing between an equally furious InuYasha and Kouga.
"What's going on here?" asked Inu no Tashio wondering what had brought on this anger in his eldest who usually kept his emotions under control. With the rest of them distracted by the reappearence of Inu no Tashio and Izayoi; Sesshomaru grabbed his mate in his arms and returned to his seat where InuYasha was forced to sit on his lap. InuYasha growled at this but was cut off with a sharp nip to the ear. A soft whine escaped InuYasha who began to grumble about asshole mate being over-bearing. At that train of thought caused said over-bearing mate to snarl.
"YOU ARE CARRYING MY PUPS YOU IGNORNT BRAT." roared Sesshomaru his anger increasing. At this InuYasha had had enough.
"They are my pups too you BASTARD. Besides he knew I was carrying and should of told me" shouted InuYasha. InuKimi made sure to cover Yuki's ears when InuYasha called out the word bastard. It would not do for the young pup to start hearing such vile language that was unbecoming of a young lord.
"It was not his place hanyou and believe me if he had told I would have gutted him" a now red eyed Sesshomaru threatened. Izayoi along with InuKimi decided it was best to take themselves and Yuki out of the room and leave the two arguing mates with Inu no Tashio. Kouga also departed especially since his life had been threatened and he didn't particually want to be caught in the crossfire. Once the four had left the room it was time Inu no Tashio took control.
"Both of you need to calm down and listen to me" Inu no Tashio stated calmly only raising his youkai enough to gain his son's attention. Sesshomaru's eyes slowly returned to their usual golden colour however his hold on the hanyou in his grasp.
"Now first of InuYasha Kouga was right in choosing not to tell you as that was Sesshomaru's right as your alpha and Sesshomaru the more you anger him the more he's going to react negatively. Now we need to work together for the sake of InuYasha, Yuki and the unborn pup's as well as to keep the peace in this household. I would also strongly advise you not threaten your mate's friends as it will not help you win both him and Yuki around" Inu no Tashio advised and a sense of composure returned to his eldest.
"Now we will need to announce InuYasha's return and Sesshomaru's wardship over young Yuki as well as your mating. This can be done in one evening and will be held two weeks from now. Yuki will be given instruction on how to behave in front of the nobles and I'm sure InuKimi and Izayoi will be able to sort things out between them. The other thing that is we need to show unity in front of the nobles to maintain their obedience therefore the pair of you must either put your differences aside when in public or work out things between you both for the sake of your son and unborn pups"
The tone in their fathers voice was serious and Sesshomaru noted that his father hadn't said InuYasha's son and their unborn pups. His father had just said your son hinting that in his father's eyes Sesshomaru was Yuki's father and should behave appropriately towards him even if he was willing to allow the nobles to believe that Yuki was his ward; in private that was not going to be allowed. InuYasha noticed this also and smiled at his father gratefully.
The next couple of weeks were hectic as preperations for the upcoming gala where InuYasha and Yuki would be presented to the nobles and it was something that InuYasha was dreading however Yuki was excited. Yuki had quickly developed a strong relationship with both his grandmother and grandpa which prevent anyone throwing insults towards him which was something he was thankfull for; he didn't care what people thought about him, he had heard it all before he just didn't want his son to experience it. His own relationship with his father and his first mate was different then it was five years before which made life here much more welcoming. His relationship with Sesshomaru however was complicated. Although his mate was not his rough with him as he was in the beginning and seemed comforting towards him but then again he was certain that was because he was carrying and not because he loved him. InuYasha knew that Sesshomaru wanted him but that wasn't the same and something inside InuYasha wanted his brother and mate to prove to him that he was loved. He strode forwards to the libary where his mate would often go when he wanted to be alone. InuYasha entered the warm room and spotted his target sitting in the large red armchair infront of a warm fire.
"What do you want?" Sesshomaru asked without looking up at his pregnant mate. InuYasha grabbed the book in his mate's hand as he sat himself on his lap.
"I want you to take me out on a...date"
