A/N: Hello all; sorry I left you guys in such a tough (hot) spot last update. I just couldn’t make myself type any more that night, and I figured I might as well post it. But I do hope everyone enjoyed it.
Meanwhile…
Scarlet: You are just so sweet! *blushes from the praise* I promise promise promise that all questions will be answered, eventually. In fact, a couple of them are answered in this chapter. Speaking of which… I am sorry in advance if this chapter isn’t exactly what you would expect…you’ll see what I mean; please don’t shoot me.
and
Moonieh: Yes, any unwilling sexual act is indeed rape. But I don’t think that you could call what happened in ch 11 rape…Don’t worry, I wouldn’t do anything to devilish.
Now, without further ado, please enjoy (and then review).

“You will not move from this position. You will not close your teeth any farther than they are now. You will not refuse me.”
The last order was said with conviction as Sesshoumaru leaned toward the young girl. He released one had from her hair, bringing it to his enlarged member. The cock seemed to gain a life of its own as he guided it toward the miko’s mouth, dragging it along her bottom lip. He circled both lips with the organ twice, leaving a trail of clear fluid across them, before beginning his invasion.
Kagome squeezed her eyes shut tightly. ‘Is this really happening?’ she thought to herself. She hadn’t anticipated it to go so far. ‘I guess I earn this for the stupid kiss I gave him earlier,’ she attempted to rationalize. However, the feel of his arousal against her lips made her shiver in fear, as well as in another emotion she wasn’t ready to name.
Sesshoumaru could feel tingles of excitement running up and down his length. He was so ready to feel the miko’s lips enclose about his member. He inserted himself slowly into the girl’s mouth, enjoying the feel of the moist walls around him. He retracted his member just as slowly, inserting it again a little farther. Soon however he began to feel as if something wasn’t quite right. The lord’s eyebrows pulled together in a frown. Shouldn’t the girl’s lips be encircling him, pulling him deep within? Shouldn’t her hands be on him, urging him closer to her own body?
The demon shook his head to dispel the confusion there. Where were these thoughts coming from..? Growing concerned, Sesshoumaru looked down at the small woman. Her eyes were tightly shut, as though she couldn’t stand the sight of him, and there were tears creeping slowly down her cheeks. For reasons unknown to him, these facts disturbed the demon greatly.
He pulled his cock out of the girl’s mouth. He had somehow been stripped of his desire for this particular pleasure. With a wave of his hand, Kagome was release from her invisible bounds, and she collapsed on the floor, shock written plainly on her face.
Sesshoumaru hesitated only a moment before turning on his heel and heading for the door. He stopped short in the doorway.
“Do not leave the room; I shall send someone for you.”
With that, the demon lord was gone, Kagome left on the floor with mixed feelings of relief and utter bewilderment. She turned her head slightly and a glint of something under the bed caught her eye. Curious, Kagome forced her arms and legs to move, army crawling under the bed to retrieve what appeared to be a regular old mirror. She frowned. Why the hell would anyone, especially Sesshoumaru, put a mirror under their bed? She took a moment to gaze at her own reflection, happy to see that her eyes had returned to their natural color, but upset at the markings on her face that seemed even darker than before.
A small sound at the door gave Kagome a start, and her heart pounded furiously before she spotted Mai peeking in at her with an odd look on her face. Once sighted, the tiny girl shuffled over to Kagome and set down next to her with a weighted sigh.
Kagome decided this was as good a time as any to ask about the mirror, so she lifted it in Mai’s direction, raising her eyebrows pointedly.
Mai began to answer, then shook her head as though the words wouldn’t be sufficient. Instead, the girl stood up, handing Kagome a thin bathrobe to put on for the moment.
“Come with me,” she said. Kagome frowned slightly, but her curiosity demanded to be satisfied. She clothed herself, then followed Mai as the child scampered down the hallway, eventually leading her to the great stairs that Kagome remembered with a wince. The pair continued down past the level the miko was familiar with, on to what was the second story in the castle. Kagome looked about with a sense of confusion. Down the hallway to her left were plush carpets, rich wood paneling and lushly painted ceilings; miniature chandeliers hanging from above; mahogany end tables lining the walls, decorated with exotic plants. To her right was a crummy little hallway with a brownish carpet and off-white walls; florescent lights; one little plant sitting on a small table far within. Kagome felt a keen sense of disappointment as Mai turned down the right hallway and not the more interesting left.
The child seemed to sense Kagome’s reaction. She turned slightly toward the miko, giving her a small smile.
“The residents of each hall are in charge of paying for and decorating their own,” she explained. “In our case, that means that the human hall looks a little different from the demon hall; we haven’t exactly been around here as long.” The child winked at Kagome’s bemused expression, hiding the urge to laugh at the look on the miko’s face.
Soon the two of them reached a normal-looking door on the left side of the hallway. Mai reached up, knocked twice, then entered without waiting for a response. Kagome followed warily, unsure of what to expect.
The first thing that caught Kagome’s attention was the enthralling scent of cinnamon apple. Once the smell had entered her nostrils, the miko felt as though there couldn’t be a thing to fear; this was obviously ‘home’.
She stepped forward, the door closing gently behind her. Not far into the living room, for that’s what she had walked into, was a pleasant-looking middle-aged woman kitting something long and complex in an old rocking chair. The woman looked up from her work to smile at Mai, then brought her gaze to Kagome’s face, where it rested for several moments with a thoughtful look.
The woman seemed to come to some sort of decision. She motioned for Kagome to sit down on a cushion not far from her own chair. Mai grabbed a second cushion and took a seat next to Kagome. She then spoke for the first time since leaving Sesshoumaru’s bedchambers.
“Mother, this is Kagome, the one Lord Sesshoumaru brought here.” She looked at her mother and waited for a nod of acknowledgement before she continued. “Lady Kagome wishes to know about Lord Sesshoumaru’s fascination with mirrors. I thought you might wish to tell her the story yourself.”
The woman nodded, as though she agreed, then spoke for the first time.
“Milady Kagome,” she said, “I apologize for our lack of manners. My name is Mina. I am Mai’s mother, and second-in-command in this castle for as long as Lord Sesshoumaru sees fit. I am aware of and understand the difficulties you have had here thus far. I can only admit to being ashamed that I am able to do nothing to help you.”
The older woman stared deeply into Kagome’s eyes. The miko was unsure of where Mina was going with this.
“However, I can give you some insight into why Lord Sesshoumaru acts the way he does. Perhaps with understanding, you may find your true purpose here.”
Kagome could tell that the woman was about to begin some sort of story, and she absolutely wanted to hear it all. She sat forward in anticipation.
“They say it’s because he sealed half his soul away.” Mina took a deep breath and continued. “Many, many years ago, Lord Sesshoumaru had a most beautiful wife. He had taken her as his mate so long ago, even my mother wasn’t sure how many years they were together. One day, she finally died. My mother said she always found this strange, since generally a demon will live for as long as its mate does.” Mina frowned; these facts upset her as well. “Some of us humans wonder if she was killed, or if she killed herself. We don’t speak of this in front of the other demons; they all seem to know the answer and are amused at how we must wonder.”
Kagome found herself wondering how this could all possibly be related, but she kept her mouth shut as the woman started the story up again.
“What we do know is that a few years after she died, Lord Sesshoumaru did something. He went around the castle ordering no one to speak her name again. They were never to mention her or anything to do with her. After this, he traveled to the lowest level of the castle and didn’t return for several days. When he reemerged from whatever task he preformed, it was as though he had completely forgotten about his late wife. He began sending sentries out into the cities, always searching for something. One day a lady of the castle asked what mad scheme he was conducting; he killed her immediately.”
Mai shivered at her mother‘s words. Her grandmother had seen these sights firsthand, and her mother had relayed the scene to her with a strong sense of reality.
“The thing about the mirrors is relatively new. It started around the same time as his frantic search. My mother believed it was caused by the loss of half of his soul; she always said that the only way a demon would be able to forget the love of his life would be to throw half of his soul away. The mirrors probably help him remember who he is. I think that sometimes he gets lost and forgets; it would make sense if half of his soul was truly gone.”
Mina glanced at Kagome and looked for a moment as though she had more to say. But it was not to be. The lady of the house shut her mouth firmly, then stood with purpose.
“Lord Sesshoumaru has run off someplace. I believe that something about you disturbed him greatly. I also believe that when he returns he will not be as he was before. I ask that you do not judge him for his previous actions; he has been a bit mad since that time. If he finds his way back to his sanity, I’ve no doubt that even he will be appalled at his actions.”
The woman then strode across the room and through a doorway into what appeared to be a bedroom. Kagome glanced at Mai, looking for answers, but the girl only stared back with a blank look before returning her gaze to the doorway through which her mother had disappeared.
Only a few minutes later did the lady Mina return, but on this trip she carried what looked to be a long green length of cloth. On closer inspection, Kagome determined it to be the outer robe of a kimono. The gossamer material almost glowed in the low light of the living room. Kagome was almost afraid to touch it as Mina held it out to her with great care.
“This is…it’s so rich; it’s so old! I mean, this must be…” Kagome found herself stuttering; Mina must just mean to show it to her; surely it wasn’t a gift!
“It is several hundred years old, yes,” Mina said with a smile. “And it is indeed for you; I think it will help you during your stay here.”
“But…How could it possibly survive for so long..?”
“Demons are tricky, as I’m sure you’ve discovered already,” Mina answered. “They have their ways; there are many things that they have created that will likely never perish. Surely you have come across things such as these?”
Thinking of Inuyasha’s fire-rat coat, Kagome nodded. Still, holding something in your arms that was an antique so many times over…Kagome shook her head in disbelief as she gently took the heavy mass from the woman, noticing as she did so that there were brown and off-white inner robes wrapped inside the outer one, as well as a rich brown obi to wrap about her waist. Tears sprang to the girl’s eyes; this was the first real act of kindness she had been shown since she had arrived, and it was such an enormous gift, from such an unexpected source!
Kagome fought back the tears and mumbled her thanks, embarrassed that she should be showered with this huge honor. Mina only nodded, a small smile on her lips. Kagome did not notice the intense look in her eyes.
