A/N: Well nobody else has reviewed,
I hope everybody likes the story so far.�
I would really like to hear my readers opinions
on my story.� I value the opinions of my
readers and sometimes they give me ideas for what they would like to see
happen.� I generally as a rule do my best
to make it happen.� Thank you to everyone
who has reviewed so far and I hope to hear from yall
soon.
Chapter 12
Kagome looked up into Sesshomaru�s
eyes and almost gasped.� There were so
many emotions showing swirling in them.�
She had never seen so much emotion in his cold, hard eyes.�
�But I�m human, why would you ever want to be with me?� she
asked feeling completely confused by the sudden speech.
�You are so much more to me,� he said holding her tighter,
feeling a little nervous.
Kagome was silent for a moment.� She didn�t know what to say, she never
expected Sesshomaru of all people to say such a
thing.� She felt a pull on her heart, she
wanted so bad to just say yes, but she did not know how this would all
end.� She didn�t want to give either of
them false hope.�
�Well, I think we should see how things go.� I would love to be your mate, but I do not
know how all of this will end.� I do not
know who will survive,� she whispered to him, feeling her heart sink.
�Kagome, don�t think of what could happen.� I love you and I want to be with you no
matter what the consequences,� Sesshomaru said leaning
down so that his forehead touched hers.
Kagome thought for a moment and smiled.� Sesshomaru was
right, why shouldn�t she be happy now while she could?� Didn�t she deserve that much?� She heard Midoriko�s
voice whisper in her mind, You deserve to be happy child, you have gone through so much
already and yet you are still willing to finish this.� Be happy, don�t hold
back due to fears of what may be.�
Kagome wrapped her arms around Sesshomaru and
pulled him into a kiss.
�Do you really love me?� she asked after she pulled away.
�Yes, I love you with all my heart and never want to be away
from you,� Sesshomaru whispered to her as a small
smile touched his lips.
�Then yes, I will be your mate,� Kagome said and kissed him
again.
Sesshomaru smiled into the kiss and picked her
up spinning around.� He heard her giggle
right before he set her down.
�Thank you, you have made me the happiest man there is,� he
said, �Since we do not know how this will end��
Kagome smiled, �Yes, I will be your mate, whenever you are ready,�
she said sensing where he was going with the statement.
He smiled and hugged her again, �What the hell are you doing Sesshomaru?� they both heard Inuyasha
yell as he walked toward them.
�Inuyasha,� he said turning to his
brother annoyed.
�I�ll let you deal with this one while I go check on the
children,� Kagome said giving him a mischivious smile
before taking off into the palace.
Sesshomaru smirked,
this was going to be interesting.
�You said you were going to protect her, not try to molest
her,� Inuyasha yelled at him his face turning red.
�I was not molesting her, little brother, I was asking her to
be my mate,� Sesshomaru responded calmly.
Kouga and Inuyasha
looked at him shocked.
�You really move fast don�t you.� She was just raped a few days ago and you�re
already asking her to be your mate?� Inuyasha asked
incredulous.
�Inuyasha, she is much stronger
than you give her credit for.� She is
already over that and healed, all that is left is the nightmares.�
�It doesn�t matter it seems like you are taking advantage of
the situation to get a powerful mate!�
�No Inuyasha, I have long loved
Kagome.� Even before all of this started,
the only thing that stopped me from asking her to be my mate was the fact that I thought you were going to claim her,� Sesshomaru replied.
He let his mask drop so that Inuyasha
could see the truth in his words.� Inuyasha looked surprised for a moment, but quickly
recovered.
�Fine, but if you hurt her, I will kill you,� Inuyasha said.
�And I�ll be there to help him do it,� Kouga
said putting his arm around his mate.
�Fair enough,� Sesshomaru replied
smirking.
�What are you smirking about?� Inuyasha
asked.
�You have no idea how many people have used that same threat
with me pertaining to that miko.� Kagome definitely has people everywhere
willing to protect her,� he said and started to walk away.
�Well, Lord Sesshomaru, I am with
them.� You hurt Kagome and me and Banryu will be right along side them to kill you,� Bankotsu
said walking through the gate.
�Me as well, she is family now and we protect family,� Jakotsu said walking up beside Bankotsu.
�Same goes for me,� Suikotsu said
joining his brothers.
Sesshomaru smiled, �Good.� But I do not intend to hurt her, ever.�
With that he walked away, oddly proud at how all these people
were willing to defend Kagome with their lives.
XXXXXX
Kagome knew that they were going to have a very interesting
conversation, especially knowing how protective Inuyasha
was.� She smiled as she walked down the
hall to the children�s bedrooms.� When
she opened Shippo�s door she was surprised to see
both children sitting on his bed.� Jaken was standing near the door yelling at them about
something.� Kagome walked up and grabbed
the toad up.
She calmly walked to the window that overlooked the area
where the men where gathered and threw the toad
out.� She heard him screeching apologies
before he landed on the ground a few feet in front of Sesshomaru.� She then turned and went back to the
children.
�I figured he probably deserved that,� she said as she sat on
the bed.
Both children smiled and jumped at her. They hugged her with
all their might.
�Are both of you alright?� she asked looking them both over.
�Yeah, we were just scared because I sensed Naraku out there, but Jaken
brought us up here and told us that is was Sesshomaru�s
orders,� Shippo replied.
�What was the toad yelling about?�
�He was just yelling about us being stupid and worthless
little brats, the usual,� Rin said shrugging.
�Really?� kagome said.
She stood and went back to the window shooting an orb of
power at the toad to shock the shit out of him.�
She heard him screech in pain and closed the window again.
XXXXXX
Sesshomaru had been walking toward the palace
when Jaken came flying out
the window.� He smirked as the toad
crashed to the ground at his feet.�
Apparently the toad had pissed off Kagome.� He heard the rest of the group snickering
behind him.� Then suddenly and orb of
light flew out and stuck the toad shocking him.�
He screeched in pain.� The group
behind him was almost falling over laughing at him now.
�What did the toad do to piss off Kagome?� Inuyasha asked holding his ribs as he laughed.
Sesshomaru simply kicked the unconscious toad
aside barely able to keep from laughing himself.� He really loved her spirit.� He walked up the stairs to the kits
room.� When he entered he heard Shippo and Rin telling Kagome
about all of the mean things Jaken had called them
when she was gone.� He watched as she
calmly got up and went to the window to zap the toad again.� He heard Jaken
screech yet again and the laughter from below got even louder.
He walked into the room and put his arms around Kagome�s
waist, �I think he has had enough koi.�
�That toad will never have enough, where does he get off
calling the children names?� she replied angrily.
He started a low growl in his chest and felt her start to
relax in his embrace.� Both of the
children watched in shock.� Did Sesshomaru just hug Kagome?�
Did he just call her koi?� Then both of them smiled and started jumping
up and down.� They were going to be a
family!� Sesshomaru
turned to them and smiled.
�Well I guess I just ruined the surprise,� he said to Kagome.
She smiled back, �Yeah, but they are really happy now.�
Both children pounced on them and started asking a million
questions. Kagome couldn�t help but laugh at their enthusiasm.� They both looked so happy at the news and
Kagome could only hope that the last battle with Naraku
would end well.� She would hate for this
happiness to be shattered.� Sesshomaru sensed her worry and pulled her into his arms
again to give her a reassuring hug.
Kagome smiled up at him and swore to herself that she would
do everything in her power to make the end happy.� She did not want to see this happiness
shattered.� She wanted this to work out
ok, she wanted a family, and she wanted love.�
She would do anything to make it possible.� But she would not fail in her mission, Naraku would die and the Shikon
Jewel would be taken care of.
�I think it�s time you two washed up for lunch,� Sesshomaru said to the children quieting them immediately.
They both ran to do as told, smiling as they went.� Kagome turned in his arms so that she was
facing him.
�Don�t worry about what the final battle will bring, I have
faith our group will be fine,� Sesshomaru said
leaning down to put his forehead to hers.
�I will try not to worry, but I get a feeling that sacrifices
will be made.� If anything happens to me,
will you take care of Shippo?� she said as tears
stung the back of her eyes.
�Hai, I will take care of him, but
nothing is going to happen to you,� he insisted his eyes hardening with
determination, �Now stop thinking about it and let�s go get some lunch.� You probably need to recover some energy
after that battle anyways.�
�I�m actually a lot better than I thought I would be.� How about we eat lunch, rest a bit and then
start training?� she said smiling.
�Are you sure?� he asked concern in his voice.
�Positive.�
XXXXXX
They all ate lunch listening to the two children rattling
on.� They were so excited that they had
everyone smiling.� Kagome noticed that
even Inuyasha�s spirits seemed raised by the
children�s happiness.� He had that old
happy shine in his eyes again, even if only for a little while.� After lunch Kagome and Sesshomaru
took the children outside to the gardens to run around and wear off energy.
Sesshomaru spoke with the remaining Shichinintai and let them off guard duty so they could
train for the battle, especially after seeing two of their own fall so
easily.� Kagome excused herself to talk
to Inuyasha and Kouga.� Sesshomaru watched
her closely as she walked over to them.
�I want to give you each something to help in the final
battle,� she said, �Inuyasha, since you are no longer
able to use Tetsusaiga I give you this sword.�
Kagome reached up into the black orb that formed above her,
when her hand came out she held a large fang almost exactly like Tetsusaiga.
�This is Dragonclaw it is a very
powerful and unique sword, I am sure that you will be able to wield it,� she
said handing it to him.
Inuyasha took the fang from her and could
feel the power pulsing through it.
�How do I use it?� he asked looking up at her.
�Listen to it, it will tell you what to do, it has accepted
you.�
She then reached up again and pulled two swords from the
orb.� She handed them to Kouga as the orb vanished.
�These are the Twin Tigers, matched
with your speed they will be very helpful.�
Kouga could feel the pulse of power and
almost dropped the swords.� His eyes
widened as he and Inuyasha both started to glow along
with their swords.� He could feel the
swords aura blending with his.� He looked
questioningly at Kagome, but she just smiled.�
When the light faded he felt an odd warmth in
his chest.
�What was that?� Kouga asked.
�The swords accepted you as their masters.� They melded their auras with yours so they
could communicate with you on what to do.�
All you have to do is listen.� You two can train together.� The swords will let you use their attacks� against each
other, but they will not harm each other.�
The other sword will protect you.�
�What do you mean?� Inuyasha asked
still a little shaken from what had just happened.
�It means that the sword will let you practice with your full
strength against Kouga.� You don�t have to hold back. �The sword knows that Kouga
is your mate and will communicate with his swords through that connection.� His swords will protect him from your blows
and vice versa,� she explained smiling.
Inuyasha and Kouga
looked at her in shock.� How did she come
by such swords?� They actually could talk
to them but they also knew who to protect and who not to?�
�Go out in the field and try them out.� I think you will like them.� If not, maybe I can find something else,� she
said.
They both nodded and moved out the gate toward the
field.� Sesshomaru
had overheard the whole conversation and walked with Kagome to the gates
entrance to watch.� This was
interesting.� He wondered if there was a
way to enchant their swords so that they would do the same and they wouldn�t
hurt each other during training.
�Unfortunately, there is no way to make our swords react the
same way, it�s a good thing we both heal fast,� Kagome said as if reading his
mind.
He turned to her in surprise, �Do you read minds too?� he
asked.
She smiled, �No, I could just tell by the look in your eyes
what you were thinking.� Besides I
thought about it to, when I thought about giving them those swords.�
Sesshomaru nodded, �I must admit I really don�t
want to hurt you, our last fight was hard enough.�
�It will be ok.� I know
you don�t mean to hurt me, but training is necessary.�
Sesshomaru wrapped his arms around her waist
and kissed her neck.� Then he turned his
attention back to the two figures in the field.�
What were those swords capable of?�
Inuyasha and Kouga
took their stances then both closed their eyes to focus on what the swords were
telling them.� Sesshomaru
felt their auras rise and could sense the slight change from the swords.�
His eyes widened as he felt the combined power.� Together those swords were about as powerful
as Tetsusaiga.�
He watched closely as the two figures tensed ready to battle.
