A/n: Hey all! I’m back with another chapter. I had surgery in December that really took everything out of me. I hope you all enjoy this chapter and let me know what you think. I also have been working on a small oneshot that I will post soon and with this story coming to a close in the next couple chapter I will be working on a new story that I think you will all love.

Chapter 12 Never Ending

Kagome and Inuyasha exited the trailer after meeting with the team that was going to help them build their dream home. Kagome had a huge smile on her face; everything had gone exactly how Kagome had hoped. She had forwarded a couple sets of plans to the architect and they had discussed a few things by email and by the time they met he had presented her with a plan for their home. Kagome and Inuyasha were very pleased with the design and besides a few changes they were on their way to breaking ground in a couple weeks. The whole process was moving rather fast but when you had unlimited funds at your disposal and a mate who was determined to please his mate. Well let’s just say that Inuyasha didn’t take no for an answer when it came to business, there was always a way in his mind. Once all the proper permits were secured. They figured they would be looking at a 4 and month building time once they got started but Kagome and Inuyasha planned for six months to be safe. Inuyasha walked hand in hand with Kagome around the property. They discussed a few other things about the house when Kagome’s cell rang.

“So, hopefully by Christmas we should be moving in.” Kagome spoke with her mom on the phone giving her an update on the house. It was exciting for everyone. Inuyasha spoke with the contractor as he watched Kagome flit about talking to her mom. His heart swelled at the sight of his beaming mate, she glowed when she was happy. He could only imagine what it would be like once she was pregnant with their first child. He shook those thoughts from his mind and wrapped up the meeting with the contractor. He was pleased with the woman so far, she was honest about time lines but also expect excellence from her workers. Her and her husband would be over seeing the whole project and keeping Inuyasha in the loop on progress.

“Kagome we have to go if we want to meet up with Sango and Miroku on time.” Inuyasha called out. She spun back around to face him her smile brighter than the sun.

“Ok.” She called back. “Mama, I have to go, we have a party to plan.” Kagome giggled and hung up the phone. She walked back over to her future husband and took his hand again. They said their goodbyes and got in the car.

They were on their way back to the city to meet up with Miroku and Sango to help plan their joint bachelor and bachelorette party. With everything that had happened they decided to have a small party at a club that Inuyasha already had book for that night. There would be about 50 people attending when you included all their work friends, friends and family. It was going to be a good night but security would be tight with Naraku’s minions still out there they needed to be careful. Inuyasha pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant scanning the area before putting the vehicle in park. They walked in and immediately were waved over to their friends. Sango’s now healed arm was below the table holding miroku’s hand. The wedding was a few weeks away and the party in a couple weeks. They wanted lots time in between just in case things got out of hand.

“How did the meeting go?” Sango asked as Kagome and Inuyasha sat down. Inuyasha pulled out Kagome’s chair for her and helped her get situated at the table before he sat himself.

“Good, hoping to break ground in the next two weeks. The contractor thinks she can expedite some of the permits so maybe by next week.” Inuyasha answered, scanning the menu in front of him.

“A good meeting it was, but now on to more exciting things like wedding planning and party planning.” Kagome said with a giggle.

“Well we have our guest list made like you asked. We were hoping to invite the members of Alpha team, but wanted to run that by you guys.” Miroku handed over the list to Inuyasha who nodded.

“I think that’s a great idea, I will text Sesshomaru and see what he can do. I also have Amelia’s number so I will text her as well.” Kagome added that to her list of things to do for the party. Their waiter arrived to take their food for lunch and they continued to talked about their plans once the woman left.

“I think I am going to need to train harder after that meal.” Sango groaned, rubbing a hand over her belly.

“You look beautiful no matter what my darling.” Miroku gave him future wife one of his charming smiles, which caused said women to blush and him to run his hand up her leg. She swatted his hand away and he sighed dramatically.

“Are we still on for shopping with Rin and Ayame tomorrow?” Kagome shook her head at Miroku’s antics. Sango gave her fiancé a light slap on the shoulder before planting a light kiss on his cheek. Ayame and Kagome were becoming fast friends, they had gone shopping and on coffee dates. Kagome had only seen Koga once since the hospital when dropping Ayame off for coffee and he had given her a quick hello before heading out. Neither was super comfortable around each other but Koga was absolutely ashamed to be near her. The emotion came off him in waves and that in turn made Kagome uncomfortable. She didn’t want him to continue to punish himself over what had happened, she didn’t hold anything against him. Kagome hoped that would change in the future she missed the friend she once had.

“Of course, we can take one car if you like.” Sango answered. Miroku and Sango had been given a condo in the same building as Kagome and Inuyasha. It had been Sesshomaru’s idea, but it took Kagome’s charm to convince them to do it. They were proud people and didn’t like hand outs. But as Kagome explained it, it made more sense for them all to be in the same building. She felt more comfortable knowing they were close by and she would be saddened if they turned down the offer. That was all it took for her friends to give in. They now live a couple floors down from Kagome and Inuyasha which meant they got to spend even more time with each other.

“Well I think that covers just about everything besides the things we can’t tell you two about.” Inuyasha teased as he stood, helping his mate up. He insisted on paying for the four of them and they left the restaurant. Inuyasha always insisted on paying, not because his friends couldn’t afford it but because he wanted to. He owed them so much for helping him get Kagome back in his life. He secretly had gone behind the couples back and already paid for parts of their wedding. It was his gift from him and Kagome, they deserved the wedding of their dreams. Anytime Kagome has mentioned that they cut something they wanted because they couldn’t afford it, he made it happen.

As they walked outside a flash of a camera surprised them, then what seemed like a hundred cameras started to flash. Kagome shot her hand up to cover her face as Sango stepped beside her and Miroku stepped in front of her. The paparazzi started shouting questions over each other. One asked how long they had been engaged while another asked if Kagome was pregnant. Kagome cursed as she realized she hadn’t removed her engagement when they walked into the restaurant, which she had been doing in public since they got engaged. Even though they had been in a secluded back room they had walked through the main part of the restaurant where anyone could see them. They had been hoping to keep the news of their engagement out of the public eye until after their friend’s wedding. Neither one wanted to take away from their friend’s special day. Inuyasha swore under his breath but didn’t say anything besides back the fuck up. The paps were getting a little too close to them for his liking. He could feel his mate’s anxiousness and he wanted to start shoving people away. It was only human photographers after them as the demon community was more then aware of Kagome and Inuyasha’s new status as mates. It wasn’t something they could hide from other demons; the thing was no one was stupid enough to leak information. That would mean a punishment worse then death, exile from the community. No one wanted to deal with the wrath of the Taisho family; they were like royalty in the demon world. Inuyasha wrapped Kagome into his side with Sango to her left tucked against her and Miroku pushing through the crowd to their vehicles.

“Back the fuck up asshole.” Inuyasha growled as a paparazzi got a little too close to Sango almost knocking her over. Miroku swung around and shoved the man away with a growl that rivalled Inuyasha’s. The man back peddled and almost fell over, another shouted ‘that’s what you get for getting too close!’ Everyone knew who Miroku and Sango were and how fiercely they defended each other and their friends. The story of Zenaku’s take down had been hot news in both worlds. “One car, I will send someone to get yours.” Inuyasha muttered. They made it into the safety of the sports car and pulled out of the parking lot before any of the paparazzi could follow them. Not that Inuyasha would have let them follow. His reflexes were a lot better than humans and he could outdrive them.

“I messed up. I completely messed up, I forgot to take off my ring and someone in the restaurant must have called them. I’m so, so, so sorry guys.” Kagome apologized and then moaned as she thought about their shopping trip tomorrow. “How are we going to shop in peace tomorrow?” Kagome put her head in her hands.

“It’s not your fault Kagome and we will figure out tomorrow.” Sango smiled, it was a simple slip of the mind to not take her ring off and it was understandable with all they had on the go.

“But it’s about you and I don’t want them making tomorrow about me.” Kagome huffed.

“It was an accident Kagome, and they were bound to find out at some point, plus they would have followed you guys anyway being out with Rin.” Inuyasha reassured her. “How about you ask Amelia to join you guys and I doubt Sesshomaru will let Rin go without Jaken driving her so you will all travel together.” Inuyasha said, grasping his worried mate’s hand in his. She had always been an anxious person but after what had happened being in big crowds was still hard for Kagome. They were working on it but Inuyasha didn’t know it would ever get better for her.

“That sounds like a good idea.” Kagome nodded her head before it dawned on her that her mom would be fielding calls from the tabloids and gossip news right about now. “Shit I need to call mama.” Kagome pulled out her cell phone and quickly dialed. A few minutes later a plan was formed and they hoped it would help calm some of the media.

“So we will release an official announcement of your engagement, we will not confirm when or how. Also no other details have been decided for a wedding as you two are busy helping plan your long time friend’s nuptials.” Mama said quickly to Kagome and her assistant who was typing a formal statement. As soon as the calls had flooded her office asking for a comment on her daughters engagement she started forming a plan.

“I think we should also add that whichever media outlets that bothers us the least will get interviews with us. One will have an exclusive interview with us at the condo with photos and will be allowed to release an official engagement photo.” Inuyasha added. He had been thinking about how they would go about this for a while. He and Kagome already had engagement photos done that would be released to the press and a set of personal ones for themselves. So they would let one photo from their personal set to also be released.

“That’s a great idea, hopefully that will calm some of the frenzy.”

“I hope so mama, we are home now so I will talk to you later.” Kagome sighed in relief as they pulled into their building. They left off with a quick I love you. Kagome always felt a weight of relief when she returned home for the day. She knew some of it was post-traumatic stress and the doctors she spoke to assured her that in time it would get better. She wasn’t sure if she believed them but she was trying and that’s all that mattered.

“At least we made it home without incident.” Miroku said, helping Sango out of the car.

“Tomorrow will for be interesting that’s for sure.” Sango said and Kagome sighed as they entered the elevator.

Amelia wandered through the small apartment looking for her phone. It was a standard fully furnished one bedroom apartment that was provided to her while she was in Japan working. She would be staying till some time in early September before heading state side again. They still had some work to do to take down the rest of Zenaku’s network. So far they had managed to bring in four of seven of his closest inner circle. Team alpha had been ordered to stay until the rest were in custody. The reason being they still hadn’t figured out what had been the master plan and why it had included Kagome. It was frustrating the team to no end. Amelia smiled as she found her phone and finally read the text messages that had come in. She was being invited for a shopping trip tomorrow with the girls. The next was from Sesshomaru saying he needed her to join the shopping trip as more then a friend but as guard. Amelia didn’t mind that one bit as she had seen the media coverage of Inuyasha’s and Kagome’s leaked engagement announcement. They were going to be swarmed tomorrow if left with no guards, between Amelia and Sango the group should be fine.

“What’s up?” Ken asked as he wrapped his arms around her waist, chin on her shoulder. She stopped to breath in his musky scent, almost purring in satisfaction.

“The girls invited me to go shopping tomorrow but also on assignment from Sesshomaru to guard Rin and Kagome.” She answered turning her head to kiss him. The phone ding with another message but she ignored it to focus on the man behind her.

Amelia would never had thought that her and Ken would have a future. He was a wolf demon and she of the feline variety but they just worked. After they had both been properly debriefed, they had met at Ken’s hotel room. The conversation turned from a heated argument to passionate love making in a matter of minutes. It had been months since they had both been intimate, the last time being with each other. Neither had looked at another while apart that fact had not gone unnoticed by either person. They had been drawn together from the moment they had met. It was then during that moment of clarity that it hit Amelia that Ken was her mate. The realization had hit her so hard she almost went blind with pleasure. In the after glow they had discussed what had happened, what mistakes had been made and then they discussed their future. They would no longer be able to ignore their instincts.

Amelia was pulled from her thoughts as Ken ran his hands down her body to the hem of the t-shirt that barely skimmed her mid –thigh. She shivered in delighted anticipation. He stopped his venture back upwards and nuzzled her neck. She let out a hiss and growl of frustration before turning in his arms to glare at the wolf demon. He grinned before continuing his teasing ways.

“Tell me what you want Amelia?” He growled his voice low, demon instincts close to the surface.

“Can’t you feel it?” She teased but was cut off with another growl. She sighed playfully and submitted to him, neck rolling to the side. “I want you.” She hissed out.

“Whatever, my mate wants.” With that he heaved her up onto his shoulder carrying her back to the bedroom. She let out a giggle playfully smacking him as he carried her. Amelia couldn’t believe how perfect life could be. She had found her mate and they would be the first pair of this kind. It was already rare for a hanyou to find a mate and usually they were human mates or one within their species. They had become mates a week after the night in the hotel. Then they had made formal introductions via skype to each other’s families, which had gone well. Ken received a blessing from the head of the local wolf tribe to take a mate and a blessing from Amelia’s parents before he asked her officially to be his mate. She had jumped him on the spot and they were mated that very night with plans to have a human ceremony come the fall. Amelia’s mother was already planning and making preparations for a small intimate ceremony and reception to be held on the family property. She sighed before losing herself in the pleasure her new mate brought her. Yes life was good, oh so good.

The next day Amelia knocked on Kagome’s door and after some frantic words behind the closed door it open. Inuyasha stood in a towel hair drenched with a wicket smirk on his face and a quick hello. Amelia blushed as she walked past the half demon into the apartment but said nothing. She didn’t want to embarrass Kagome with what she clearly walked in on. Inuyasha chuckled and headed back towards another bathroom to dry his silver locks. She looked around and her mouth just about hit the ground. The condo was something out of a magazine and the view was spectacular.

“Hey I’ll just be a couple minutes.” Kagome shouted from her room above. Amelia called back a take your time and continued to admire the beautiful apartment. Sango unlocked the door with her key and walked in.

“Hey.” She smiled and joined Amelia in the living room. “Where’s Kagome?”

“Still getting ready, Inuyasha answered the door in only a towel so I suspect it’s his fault she’s late.” Amelia said with a giggle.

“I resent that!” Inuyasha called.

“It’s true isn’t it?” Sango shouted back but received no response back. Sango shook her head and invited Amelia to join her in the kitchen for a drink while they waited.

Mean while Kagome ran frantically around her bathroom trying to finish getting ready. She quickly put her hair in a french braid since there wasn’t enough time to dry it now thanks to a certain hanyou. She had just about to get out of the shower when he had joined her. Her face heated at the thought of his hands running all of her. The thought of him dropping to his knees to taste her most sensitive area shot waves down her spine. He had given her pleasure and then took his. And boy had he taken her, hard and fast against the shower wall. Her mind wondering back to just moments ago and she wished she could stay home.

She came down from the high of her first organism as he kissed his way back up her body. Her legs felt like they would give out from under her at any moment if not for the strong hands pinning her to the wall. He growled moving his hands under her thighs. In one quick motion he lifted her up and slammed into her, her back arched off the wall. She hissed as her walls clenched him, but made no move to stop her demonic lover. He pulled out and thrusted forward at an inhuman speed. Kagome grabbed his shoulders for support, her body coiling up tighter with each thrust. Inuyasha moved forward licking and nipping her neck in a way he knew drove his mate crazy.

“Oh god!” She cried out as his fangs sunk into her mark. Her body coming undo as pleasure coursed through her. Inuyasha followed with a mighty growl and pinned her tightly against the wall. He removed his fangs and licked her mark to stop any bleeding. She purred and looked into his red hazed eyes. The promise of more pleasure was there staring at her. She shivered in anticipation, kissing him hard. She jumped as the door bell echo through their condo which meant one of the girls was early. It had been like a cold bucket of water had been dumped on her as she came back to reality.

“Shit Inuyasha put me down.” Kagome squeaked.

“Can’t we just ignore it?” His voice husky as his soft member started to harden again.

“No, and you have to answer the door so I can get ready.” She gave him a pointed look and he put his mate down before grabbing a towel. “But I will make it up to you later.” She purred as started to dry off.

“You will be the death of me woman.” He muttered as he walked out the bathroom.

She was brought back to the present when she heard the voices of the girls echo through the house. She really needed to get her head out of the gutter. If she didn’t she would have to send the girls on without her and that just wasn’t an option today. Kagome shivered as she felt her mate watching her dress from the door. He hadn’t bothered to put on any clothes just yet his hair was now mostly dried and hung loosely around his shoulders. His muscles rippled as he stood from his leaning position. Kagome licked her lips as another imagine flash through her mind about her mate.

“If you keep thinking like that I am going to kick the girls out and fuck you into oblivion.” His deep voice sent another shiver up her spine. He strode forward and pulled her into his arms.

“Promises, promises.”

“I’ll show you promises wench.” He growled turning them around pushing her up against the wall. She moaned and returned his kiss with just as much passion and fire.

“Kagome! Rin’s here lets go.” Sango said from the bedroom door. Inuyasha pulled away placing a gentle kiss on her forehead. It amazed her how he could go from being so aggressive to gentle in a split second. She sighed and shook her head clear of the fog. They were acting like horny teenagers with no self-control. But could anyone blame her? Inuyasha had the body of a god and it didn’t help that they could feel each other’s needs and wants.

“I’ll be right out.” She answered placing another chaste kiss on her mate’s lips. “I love you mate.”

“I love you too wench. Text me if you need anything.” He said as he pulled on the pair of jeans and t-shirt he has discarded before sneaking into the shower with her.

“I will.” She grabbed her purse and headed out the door.

They had been to two boutiques so far and found no dresses that suited Sango’s theme or taste. They were now sitting in a little café before heading out to the next clothing boutique. They avoided the malls as much as possible and with Rin’s and Kagome’s offer to pay for Sango’s dresses, one for her bachelorette party and the other for the rehearsal dinner she could look in the expensive shops. Rin had actually insisted as she hated going to the mall. The five women currently chatted as they waited for their meals to arrive.

“That last place was awful I’m disappointed as the last time I was there they had such beautiful dresses.” Rin said with a huff, she was a little on the cranky side that day. It was an unusual demeanor for the woman as she was usually bubbly.

“I hope the next place is it.” Sango said as the waiter laid her curry in front of her.

“I agree.” Kagome smiled.

“Rin are you ok?” Sango asked as Rin’s complexion nearly turned white.

“I think I’m going to be sick.” She scrambled up and bolted to the washroom. Kagome jumped to follow her and told the rest to eat. Kagome found Rin wiping her mouth and flushing the toilet.

“You ok?”

“Ya I just need a moment.” She rinsed her mouth and checked her makeup.

“Something you want to tell me?” Kagome grinned. She had a feeling about what was wrong with her friend.

“I was going to tell you all at lunch I’m pregnant and curry smells like shit.” Rin squeaked as Kagome pulled her into a hug.

“I’m so excited.” Kagome squealed.

“Shall we go tell the others?” Rin said.

“Sounds good to me.” A couple minutes later more squeals echo through the restaurant.

“So how far along are you?” Ayame asked.

“Just about 3 months.” Rin replied her hand dropping to her still mostly flat stomach. “We are so excited”

“I think we should celebrate.” Sango said and called a waiter over to order some desert for the ladies since alcohol was out of the question.

“Ugh, as long as it’s not spicy. This little pup is sensitive.” Rin said.

“Makes sense with a dog demon for a father.” Kagome knew all about how sensitive Inuyasha was to scent, anything spicy sent him running from the room. She had a constant stock of instant ramen in their home for him.

“So you know what you’re having?” Amelia asked.

“No not yet and I don’t think we will find out. Sesshomaru wants it to be a surprise, but in my heart I think we are having a girl.” Rin giggle at the thought of Sesshomaru and a little girl pup. Their life was certainly about to get interesting.

“Oh a little girl would be so sweet.” Ayame coed, her heart filling with happiness knowing she was now a part of this group of women. It could have been so easy for Kagome to have washed her hands of her but instead she had brought her into her life and friends group.

“So, Ayame and Amelia before I forget I need to ask you two about something.” Kagome said.

“Ok.” Both girls answered.

“Well Sango’s and Miroku’s joint bachelor and bachelorette party is coming up and we were hoping you both would come.” Kagome’s smile faltered as Ayame’s dropped for a second. Kagome knew exactly where the wolf’s mind had gone. “Of course your other half’s are invited along with Alpha team too if you could extend the invitation to them Amelia.”

“Of course we will come.” Amelia was honestly honoured to be invited.

“Us too, just text me the details later.” Ayame finally answered, her face filled with excitement and awe.

“Well that settles all official business for the party besides the dress situation.” Kagome clapped her hands together and smiled at the group of women around her.

“Well let’s finish our desert and get back at it.” Sango said.

The five women entered the last boutique of the day and hoped this would be the final one. The last one had been a bust for Sango but Ayame and Amelia had both found a dress there so it wasn’t a total waste at least. They had thumbed through the racks once and it was on the second poke through that Kagome found the perfect dress for her friend. The dress was off white with sweet heart neck line, with a beaded, lace bodice that stopped at the waist and flowed into a layered skirt. The front of the dress stopped just above Sango’s knees and the back at her calves. Kagome slipped the dress into Sango’s room and told her to try it next.

“Oh Sango you look beautiful.” Kagome whispered as her friend exited the change room. Sango looked in the mirror and grinned.

“I think we have a winner.” Rin said with a tear in her eye. She muttered a curse about hormones.

“I agree, it’s the best dress of the day. You look gorgeous.” Amelia nodded her head in agreement with Ayame.

“I agree ladies. This is it.” Sango said in agreement, her body just about vibrating with excitement.

“Now, we have your rehearsal dinner dress let’s find the one for your bachelorette.” Rin clapped her hands with excitement.

“I can wear this one to both Rin.” Sango gave her friend a look that said she was ok with that.

“Nonsense! You need something sexier for the party.” Rin waved her off.

“Excuse me miss, we actually just received this dress today. It’s by the same designer she isn’t well known but her work is impeccable. I think it would be perfect.” The sales associate held up another off white dress made out of the same beaded lace material.

Sango quickly changed into the new dress which earned another round of compliments from the ladies. The dress itself had sleeves that stopped at the shoulders with the back dipping down to her lower back. The neckline was higher and balanced the dress well. It hugged her curves and stopped about mid thigh. It was sexy but classy which is what Sango preferred.

“Now that is a show stopper.” Rin grinned.

“Ok, Ok you were right. Miroku is not going to be able to take his hands off me in this.”
Sango giggled as she looked at herself in the mirror. “I wish it was a little longer though.”

“I can make that happen.” The sales associated said whipping out a measuring tape. “She will need a week but it can be done.”

“Thank you. You know the designer?”

“Yes she’s my cousin I convinced the owner to stock three of her designs. It’s the first week and you are the first to try these two dresses on.”

“Kagome maybe she could design the bridesmaid dresses!” They still hadn’t found a dress for them and they were just going to purchase something off the rack at another boutique.

“That’s a wonderful idea Sango. I think a play off the rehearsal dress but with cap sleeves and in the pale pink.” Rin squealed, her bubbly personality crashing through the room making all the girls giddy with excitement. “Could you get your cousin on the phone?”

“Right away ma’am.”

“Perfect.” Kagome quickly handed the sales associate her credit card before Rin could. They actually were able to FaceTime with the designer and within 15 minutes they had a design. It was perfect, time was a problem but Rin said for her to let her know what she needed in man power and materials and she would handle it. Once everything was said and done the five women left the store chatting happily. They came to a stop as a woman stopped short in front of them. She an un-canning resemblance to Kagome, but her features were sharper, hair as black as night and pin straight. She was taller then Kagome and slimmer. Kagome nearly gasped at the sight of her mate’s ex. Her skin was ashen, her once shinty black hair dull and she could see evidence of bruises being covered up with makeup. Her clothes hung off her in a way that shouted she had lost weight. Kagome had never hated Kikyo she had envied the woman for being with Inuyasha. There was no bad blood between them but they certainly didn’t like each other. Kagome was honestly stunned by her old rival’s appearance.

“Kikyo.” Kagome started.

“Oh, Kagome hi.” She was startled from looking down at her phone. Her unease grew as Sango narrowed her eyes and stared her down. “It’s been a long time.”

“Ya, it has. How are you?” Kagome asked. She never particularly liked Kikyo but she how she looked right now bothered Kagome. Kikyo had hurt Inuyasha on more then one occasion and that usually meant Kagome hurt as she watched the man she loved go back to her. But the woman Kagome knew and the one in front of her were two very different people. What had happened to her since her break up from Inuyasha all those months ago? Kagome picked up something from her aura but she didn’t know what. It was almost like it was screaming for help, pulsing and reaching out to Kagome. Kagome raised a hand to touch Kikyo’s, who snatched hers away.

“I’m fine. I saw online that you and Inuyasha are engaged.” She didn’t offer congratulations to her but instead looked around nervously. She looked about ready to flee at any moment.

“Yes we are.” She paused watching the emotions run across Kikyo’s face, fearing being the prominent one. “Kikyo are you sure you’re ok?” Kagome moved forward to touch the women again and shot back as if electrocuted. Kikyo flinched and stepped back herself. What the hell had just brushed against her, it felt like death. Cold dread now ran over Kagome, she would need to tell Inuyasha about Kikyo. Kagome feared that if she didn’t Kikyo would die soon.

“Ya, I’m fine.” She grounded out now. “I must be going, Kagome it’s not over.” With that she hurried off before Kagome had time to ask what was going on. Kagome was shocked Kikyo was a Miko like Kagome but her energy just felt wrong, almost tainted. How was that possible? She felt like she had started to purify her which shouldn’t be possible at all. Kagome shook her head. What had she meant by it’s not over? Kagome watched the woman hurry down the street and into the distance.

“Well that was odd.” Sango said almost as confused as Kagome. The women all agreed the encounter was certainly strange.

They continued on down the street to window shop before heading back to the car. Kagome and Ayame had quickly ducked in a shop while the other three stopped at a window ahead. It was as they were coming out it felt like all hell broke loose. Paparazzis seemed to come from no where and had surrounded the three women on the street. Then when Kagome and Ayame came out of the store they rushed to swarm them also. Kagome heard a scream that sounded like Rin and forced her way over to her. Ayame started pushing the forceful photographers out of the way to get to them.

“Rin!” Kagome yelled seeing her friend on the ground. Amelia was currently scuffing with what looked to be a coyote demon. She grabbed his camera and smashed it before shoving the demon away from her. Sango was pushing two humans back away from them. Paps were usually human but Kagome could feel a couple demons in the group. Kagome dropped to the ground in the middle of all the chaos to help her friend to her feet. There had to be twenty people around them. Some were screaming questions others just took pictures it was chaos.

“How many?” Sango asked blocking another shot of Rin.

“Let’s get you up 3 maybe 4 demons.” Kagome’s anxiety rose as the hair on her arms stood up. She wanted to throw up a barrier around them but that could potentially hurting innocent demons around them. She didn’t trust her powers to not fluctuate with her emotions. Kagome swallowed the fear that threatened to bubble to the surface. They were being shouted at, questions and accusations being thrown around.

“I’m fine, just let’s get out of here.” Rin’s voice shook and it took everything in her to not wrap her arms around her middle.

“Kagome you feel that right?” Amelia asked, her hair was standing on end as a new presence came on scene.

“Yes I do.” The dark energy swirled in the air like a dust cloud. She couldn’t pin point which demon carried it but she could feel it.

The four women huddled around Rin and pushed the best they could through the crowd. With Amelia taking the lead push and shoving anyone who didn’t move out of the way. Some threatened lawsuits and she laughed. They could try but nothing would stick. They had hurt Rin, her actions were now justifiable. Amelia punched a man clear in the nose obviously breaking it. He attempted to swing back but froze as a mighty roar pierced the air.

“Back the fuck up!” Inuyasha snarled, his demon simmering close to the surface. It was at the same moment Koga came running down the street from behind the crowd. He dove to sucker punching a man who was about to touch Kagome or Ayame he wasn’t sure which but it didn’t matter. He would protect his new mate with his life and Kagome as he owed her his life.

“You heard him back the fuck up.” His voice boomed like Inuyasha’s. He saw his mate, her panic stricken face, tears rolling down her face as a panic attack bubbled beneath. He had run as soon as he felt the pure fear from his mate. He had been in a coffee shop waiting for Ayame’s call that she was finished shopping, he stayed close to the area as he knew Ayame was able to relax more if she felt him nearby. Inuyasha leapt through the Air landing by his mate. She grabbed his hand but didn’t take her arm from around Rin. He had been doing some work from home and came as soon as he felt Kagome’s anxiety rise. Inuyasha gave Koga a curt nod in thanks. The two men became a barrier and the group of photographers backed up a couple feet.

“Who dares frighten this ones mate?” Sesshomaru’s voice was like a shot of ice down the spine. The crowd went deadly silent. Humans and demons coexisted; they knew each other’s laws so the humans in the crowd knew the punishment for intentionally hurting a demons mate could be punishable by death. With that thought they all started to scatter at once, safety in numbers when running away from two of the most formidable demons of this time. Kagome sighed as the dark energy that had been pressing in vanished into the crowd. She wasn’t sure what exactly had happened but she was glad it was over.

“Sesshomaru!” Rin cried out and fell into his arms as he scooped her up. “I fell, the baby.” She sobbed. He had been at the office and it had taken a moment longer to get here. He now needed a new window in his office but that was nothing.

“The heartbeat is strong.” He whispered, but her anxiety and fear didn’t ease with the reassurance. “I will call the doctor.” She continued to sob as he walked to an alleyway taking to the Air.

“Ayame it’s ok. I’m here.” Koga calmed his panicking mate. “I told you I wasn’t far and I never will be.” Her eyes were distant and frantic she sucked in deep breaths.

“You two ok?” Inuyasha asked, Sango and Amelia both nodded while trying to help Koga calm Ayame. She looked more like a bunny demon then wolf, the reaction being obvious effects of her time in captivity.

“Kagome are you ok?” He knew she was but he stilled needed to ask.

“Yes, I’m fine. We should get back to the condo and check on Rin.” She was pissed that stupid paps had ruined their perfect day. Kagome turned to Ayame and laid her hand on hers. “It’s ok.” Ayame immediately stopped hyperventilating and stared at Kagome, her eyes focusing. Kagome’s calm aura pulsed before spreading out to circle around Ayame. It felt like a wave of tranquil energy flowed over her skin.

“Thank you.” She said. Kagome nodded and promised to call her later.

“Get her home a hot bath will help her stay calm.” Kagome smiled gently at the wolves, Koga gave them a quick nod and they both turned and left.

“Amelia you’re bleeding.” Sango gasped pulling their friends arm to her the blood was almost invisible against her dark skin but Kagome could feel the wound pulsing. Her powers itched to purify it.

“It’s just a scratch, let’s go check on Rin.” Amelia was calm, she had to be or Ken would also being racing to find her. Now that she had a mate she had to keep her emotions in check. He wouldn’t be able to chase her down on missions if she got stuck. So today had definitely been good practise for her.

“Ya, no.” Kagome said as she pulled her in the SUV grabbing the first aide kit out of the back. Sango climbed in the front with Inuyasha driving. Kagome sat in the back taking care of Amelia’s wound.

“Kagome you really don’t have to do this. It’ll be healed by tonight.” Amelia tried to get her arm back but Kagome held strong. She let out an impressive growl as Amelia tried to pull away again.

“Don’t be the tough guy Amelia.” Inuyasha scolded but kept his focus on the road.

“You can’t feel it but something has tainted it. It’s not poison you would smell that but something. My instincts are telling me what to do. You trust me?” Kagome asked.

“Of course.” She nodded her head.

“Ok. Hold still.” Kagome held her hand on the wound allowing her powers to simmer along the surface of her hand. She concentrated on on the wound and pulling whatever was itching at her out. Amelia hissed as the holy powers sizzled across her skin but it mostly felt like a static shock rather than pain. The pain came from whatever was infecting her skin, it felt like it was trying to dig deeper. Kagome grunted, sweat trickled down her brow but she didn’t give up. It was Kagome’s turn to hiss as black smoke billowed from the wound swirling the air. Kagome pushed her powers outward and the smoke snapped, and popped before disappearing. She sagged back in the seat, her instincts calming.

“What the hell?” Amelia gasped, she looked at her arm and it was completely healed. “How did you do that?”

“A dark spirit, something tried to possess you. I don’t know how they did it or why.” Kagome said. As the how she healed the wound she had no idea how she did that either. She felt like she just ran a marathon of sorts. Why had someone gone after Amelia like that? Was it to get to her and Inuyasha? She would need to think on that later, but it meant that things weren’t over like she thought.

“Kagome, are you ok?” Inuyasha’s worried eyes found hers in the review mirror. She was exhausted but physically fine.

“Yes, tired but fine.” She said with a yawn. By the time they made it back to the building, she was sound asleep. Inuyasha pulled her from the back seat and carried her bridal style up to Sesshomaru’s apartment. He would have just gone home but he knew she would be upset if they didn’t check on Rin before going home.

“Kagome wake up, we are home.” Inuyasha spoke in a hushed whisper. He could here Rin and Sesshomaru in the master bedroom with the doctor. Everything was ok with Rin and the baby from what Inuyasha could hear. Kagome snuggled deeper into his chest for a moment before opening her eyes. She glanced around in confusion at first before realizing where they were. Inuyasha sat her gently on her feet before heading to the kitchen to grab his mate something to drink. He could feel her exhaustion and he didn’t like it one bit.

“Sango! My dearest, are you ok?” Miroku asked as he came barreling through the door. He knew his wife could take care of herself but that didn’t stop him from worrying. He pulled her into a tight hug, running his hands all over her to check for any damage.

“I’m fine.” She said with a huff and small smile. He finished his check and deemed her healthy.

“Thank you Doc, I promise no more spills.” Rin said with a hand held over her belly as her, the doctor and Sesshomaru came out of the bedroom.

“That’s what I like to hear, now if you need anything please call me.” The doctor bowed and headed out the door. Rin sat on the couch pulling a blanket over her as Sesshomaru settled beside her and lifted his arm so she could tuck herself against him. He was gentle with her, his face softening whenever he looked at his little mate. She was his everything and now with a pup on the way he was even more protective of her.

“So, is everything ok with the baby?” Sango asked, worry clouding her eyes. Her and Miroku sat together in a chair across from the couple.

“Yes, perfectly healthy.” Rin sighed and snuggled deeper into Sesshomaru’s side her exhaustion now evident to the group as she yawned.

“Well things were interesting on the way the home.” Inuyasha commented as he handed his mate a freshly squeezed glass of orange juice. Kagome sipped the drink hoping this would help her feel a little better.

“What happened brother?” Sesshomaru’s eyes narrowed his expression like stone. Inuyasha explained what had happened with Kagome and Amelia on the way back. Kagome added that she was ok and just a little tired from the energy expenditure. Rin sat in shocked silence. “I will make some inquiries.” Sesshomaru finally said.

“The biggest question is who the real target is? And why?” Inuyasha’s troubled eyes look down on his mate. The heavy black bags that had settled under her eyes stuck out like a beacon with her skin being so pale. He would never let anything happen to her again.
“Why, indeed brother.” That was the question that plagued Sesshomaru. If Zenaku was truly gone why was his family still being targeted? Was it someone trying to take advantage of the previous situation, a completely new threat? Or was this somehow connected to Zenaku? He didn’t have the answers but he intended to find out who was threatening his family.
