Chapter 13 - Some Explanations
*Cave of Mind* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)
"Sesshoumaru?" Kagome said in confusion, waking the taiyoukai up from a brief nap. He was surprised he had been able to sleep with her body laid across his chest, but apparently he needed the rest. "What in the hell happened to you?" she asked, looking over his bruised and scabbed chest. He was covered in injuries, including what looked like dozens of small scratches and nicks, as if someone tried to shave his chest with a dull, rusty razor.
"I am fine," he tried to assure her. "How are you feeling?"
"Confused as hell! How did we get here?"
"Inuyasha brought you here," he explained. "You cannot remember?"
"I've been losing huge chunks of time. I think I'm losing my mind. The last thing I remember was going on a walk with Inuyasha to test out the charms, and then... I remember you, but just for a minute, a flash. Why are you chained to the floor? Who's hurting you?"
Sesshoumaru winced at the thought of telling the miko she was the one torturing him. She looked on the verge of tears already, and he didn't want to see her cry. Deciding to start at the beginning, the taiyoukai began to recount the conversation he had with his mother.
*Hidden Truth* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)
The demoness looked calmly at her son as she began her tale.
"Once a century, a miko is born with such great power that she is physically unable to control it on her own. By the time she reaches adulthood, she is in need of help or the power will consume her. Around the same time, a powerful demon is born for her, to help her.
"When you were born, you were so strong, so filled with power. Your father was so proud. He took you to a seer; wanting to know what wonderful things you would do in your life. When she told him you were destined to be a miko's pet, he exploded, calling her a liar. He nearly killed her. I had to drag him away. When he found out that miko's pets are often born into my bloodline he blamed me. He said that it was my fault that he had a son who would be such an embarrassment.
"You see, miko's pets are often looked down upon by other demons for allowing their miko to dominate them as they do. Your father refused to allow such a thing to happen. That is when he cast me out and did everything he could to keep me way from you, my son. He also did everything in his power to keep you away from mikos, hoping to prevent you from realizing your fate."
“He lied to me to protect his precious social standing? That is why Kagome and I have suffered?"
"That is why he did everything he could to keep you apart. He would never tell you the truth, that there is a way to help her, because of what you will become if you do so."
"Tell me, what do I have to do?"
"Now that her power has taken over, there is only one option. We must allow her miko half to do as it pleases with you. She will draw your blood, and then she will consume it. Your blood will help the real Kagome rise to the surface, and once she has drunk enough, she will be in complete control once again."
"But how does my blood help her?"
"The strength of your youki is in your blood, and it gives her the additional power necessary to control her miko energies. Once she regains control, she will need to consume your blood on a regular basis to retain that control. She will need you for the rest of her life."
- *Heart-rending Sorrow* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)
"Wait," Kagome said slowly. "Does that mean I did this to you?" she asked in shock. "Oh, gods, Sesshoumaru, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean it. I don't even remember it!"
"Calm yourself, Kagome," Sesshoumaru replied, his tone warm and caring. "I enjoyed every second of it. That is part of being your pet," he said with a smirk. "I enjoy every bit of pain you cause me."
"You... you do?" she asked in confusion. "You mean, like when I scratched your back way back then?"
"Exactly," he replied.
Looking him over, Kagome giggled, relaxing now that she knew she hadn't truly injured him if he enjoyed it. "I pierced your nipples?"
"Yes, your other half is very creative. Could you perhaps remove the needles?" They were beginning to burn, and he didn't want her to poke herself on them if she decided to embrace him, which he was hoping for. He ached for her touch, kind or cruel, so long as it was physical contact. They had been apart for too long, and he felt as though he were going through a terrible withdrawal.
"Are you sure?" she asked him. "Won't it hurt?"
"I assure you, I won't mind," he said with a grin.
*Flood and Aftermath* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)
"That's going to take some getting used to," she confessed. It wasn't in her nature to hurt someone on purpose. She hoped that he would do the cutting himself when she needed his blood once this was over. She wondered, for a moment, if he would still desire for her to hurt him, and if this would be a regular part of their relationship.
Kagome moved to kneel beside him and grabbed the end of the needle piercing his right nipple. "Ready?" Sesshoumaru nodded, and the miko pulled slowly but firmly. The needle caught as she pulled it out from where his body had begun to scab around it, and he groaned in pleasure as the piece of metal finally came free. The miko quickly scooted to the other side and removed the second one as carefully as the first.
Her eyes seemed locked on the blood leaking from both nipples, and Sesshoumaru smirked again. "Go ahead. The more of my blood you consume, the more control you will have."
Unable to stop herself, Kagome leaned down and flicked her tongue over his nipple, making him gasp in pleasure. "Mmm," the miko moaned. "Why does your blood taste so good?"
"Most likely so that you will not find it offensive to drink it for the remainder of your life."
She moved to the other side, not wanting to push on his bruises, before licking his right nipple clean of all blood. She sucked at the wounds, ripping another groan from the taiyoukai. "And you don't mind that?" she asked. "That I'll need your blood forever?"
"Of course not, Kagome. I... I lo..."
*Lingering Suspense* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)
Looking into her eyes, he saw the instant the warm blue turned cold, and he knew her miko half was back in control. He was hoping to have more time with the real Kagome than he did, but at least he had the opportunity to explain some things to her.
"You lo..." she taunted. "You what, love me? Aww, isn't that sweet. Too bad I'll never forgive you for what you did. It won't matter, though. You won't suffer a long life without me, because you won't be leaving this room alive." She looked him over and frowned. "How did you get the needles out of your nipples?" she demanded. "I rather liked the look. You should have left them in."
Sesshoumaru frowned. It appeared that the miko half had no memory of what occurred when the real Kagome was in control, just as the real Kagome had no idea what was happening when her miko half took the reins. Dealing with two different halves of one person was interesting, and he wondered what she would be like when they came together. Would her anger remain?
The sweet, loving Kagome seemed ready to forgive him for all he had done, but the miko half seemed intent on his destruction for the wrongs he had committed against her. When the two halves became one whole, would that anger and hate spill over into his Kagome? Would she not be able to forgive him either? Could he be going through all of this just to lose her anyway?
