So, this chapter was a bitch and a half to write. My neck is cramped as shit. Enjoy the fruit of my pain, you sadistic fucklets. Also, stay tuned for chapter two, Kachio (Pt 2). What will the conclusion of this fucked up party be? What would cause Inuyasha not to see his children for the next year? Come back tomorrow and find out!

Actually, I'm beta testing a game until monday, so this'll be continued tuesday I think. Anyways, yeah, bye.

Yuuaa, Kachio, Zukimu, Moriko and I sat in a small circle next to the crackling fire. Kuritsuki curled up a foot away from us. I held a handful of sliced purple-capped mushrooms in my hand and looked at Yuuaa with a wild grin,“You ready?”
Zukimu asked us in his deep and gruff voice. Kachio looked extremely nervous, and he successfully controlled his scent so that nobody noticed anything beyond his even expression. I put a reassuring hand on his knee,
“Do you need us to run through it again?”
“No, I’m ready.”
His pulse was throbbing in his neck. I would have loved to save my brother from doing this. But, to not participate in the ancient ritual was to be cast out of the clearing. And he didn’t want to go home without me. Maybe this journey would be good for him.
Okukaze looked around at all of us from his dais on the fallen log. When the clouds dispersed from the high moon, he let out a gut-wrenching howl. We all howled along with him, even my reserved brother. Then, we each took our handfuls of fungi and offered them to the person across from us. Yuuaa ate out of my right hand while I ate out of hers. People often complained of the taste of these wonderful blessings from kami, but I enjoyed the earthy taste of them, and the satisfying squish between my teeth when they were chewed. I looked next to me at Kachio’s face, his nostrils were flared as he chewed,
“It tastes like dirt.”
He said.
“You won’t mind it after awhile.”
Moriko said back to him, patting him on the back. I chanced a glance behind me at Okukaze, who was also chewing a mouthful of the mushrooms. I noticed Kachio relax after he swallowed,
“So, what’s this going to feel like?”
He asked, leaning back on his elbows. Zukimu answered from beside him,
“Well, at first, you will be very happy. Then, you start to see things… differently. After that is the first beast cycle. You will usually identify the beast and acknowledge it.”
Moriko picked up the next sentence,
“We will then eat the belladonna at the hour mark. The mushrooms will last for eight hours, and each plant we eat will intensify the journey in different ways. Don’t worry, Kachio. You aren’t the only first-timer here.”
The slimmer of the twins gestured to the other groups,
“Every group has one virgin. Well, our group has two, but that’s beside the point.”
He looked at me with raised eyebrows and I growled at him.
“Don’t go picking on me because I’m not a whore like you.”
I retorted with venom. I was still pissed at him for earlier. Zukimu scooped a wooden cup full of sake and snorted at his twin brother.
“What did you do to her?”
The big man passed the full cup to my brother after he took a sip, and Kachio passed it to me after I took a gulp, and so on.
“She’s probably mad because she tried to get under my pelt, and I refused her.”
Moriko said with an eye roll. Atleast he didn’t tell them the embarrassing truth.
“Ha. You’re so sure of yourself, little wolf.”
I said. Kachio began to scoot away from me when Okukaze approached, and Yuuaa coughed loudly. I held my brother’s hand and tugged him slightly, letting him know that I didn’t want him to move.
“Here.”
I felt the redhead bend down behind me. His hand snaked in front of me and held a palm full of ganja. I held out my hand and he dumped it into my own hand. His other hand came around and offered me the long white pipe made out of a wolf demon’s shin bone. When I accepted that, both of his empty hands squeezed my shoulders,
“Enjoy.”
He mumbled softly, conscious of being around so many people without a planned speech in mind. Zukimu watched his brother from the corner of his eye and when Okukaze left, he gave me a questioning look.
“So, Kachio, remember that time you accidently drank that sleeping potion instead of the energy elixir? Well, this is going to be a lot like that. Except you won’t see things when you keep your eyes open.”
I packed the herb into the bowl tightly with my thumb; Yuuaa took a small dried branch from a pile beside the fire and lit the end of the stick. I showed my brother how to hit the pipe when Yuuaa lit the green herb by sucking and holding the small air hole in the side of the pipe, releasing it only when I felt that there was enough smoke in the chamber. The smoke was exhaled through my nose. I had learned long ago that passing it through the nose held the least amount of probability for coughing. I passed it to my left,
“You have to hit it fast, or the fire will die and we will have to sift through the ash and relight it.”
Once the pipe was to Kachio, he gave a small cough when it came back out,
“Ah. Dry.”
He reached for the sake without considering what was in the cup and took a big gulp. Everybody laughed at him as the sake came out of his nose and mouth, his big coughs sounding a little wet. I patted his back and offered to take him to the stream,
“No need, here.”
Okukaze popped out of nowhere and offered a wooden cup full of water to my brother. For that I was grateful, because puking would have embarrassed him way more than choking. His ears where already red with a soft blush. I held his gaze and smiled softly at him,
“Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself.”
He smiled back and began playing with his hair,
“I think it’s working now.”
His voice was a mumble and I squeezed his hand,
“I’ll be with you the whole time, Chio. Don’t be scared of your own mind, embrace it.”
That seemed to perk him up,
“You’re right.”
His voice was starting to drag a bit. He took another hit from the pipe when it came back around. The ganja was certainly starting to affect Yuuaa. She was glassy eyed and grinning like mad. She was fully human, so she would feel everything before any of us did. I wasn’t far behind her. I grinned back at her, not really knowing what we where smiling at. She started giggling and that made me cackle. We were always giggly together when we did things like this.
“I’ve never realized how big Kuritsuki is.”
My brother gasped, staring at the big wolf. Kuritsuki lifted his head up at the sound of his name and wagged his big tail. For some reason, that was the funniest shit on earth to me.
“Yes you have, you’ve just gotten used to him.”
Yuuaa pointed out. Then she gasped. I looked at her with a curious frown when she pointed to all of us.
“I just remembered that you all have TAILS!”
Huh. I’d never given it much thought before. I picked my wagging tail up and offered it to Yuuaa; she was delighted to play with it. I giggled at the sensations it was sending up my spine. Moriko was the next to succumb to the high, touching my tail along with Yuuaa.
“It’s so soft. Why do you get a soft tail? Mine is all bushy.”
He held out his long black tail and we felt it. It was indeed coarse.
“Because we’re dogs, and you’re a wolf.”
My brother said matter-of-factly. He held his white tail up and we watched the silky trendils as they cascaded down like a pale waterfall.
“Oh yeah, I forgot. It’s just that you guys act like wolves more than dogs most of the time. You’re all wise and shit, and she’s all… wild and shit. Not really doggish.”
Moriko leaned his chin into his hand. I chanced a glance at Zukimu; the herb getting my nerves to spark. It was apparent that he was already looking at me when I met his deep gaze. His presence made me a little shy, so I quickly looked next to him at my brother as if I was looking around casually. It gave me a thrill to know that he was paying attention to me. It was a little childish, but I really did do a little cheer in my head.
“Uh, I feel them.”
Yuuaa had been quiet thus far, but now her smiles were renewed. She was grinning like a mad man.
“I love you all.”
She said, taking Zukimu and Moriko under each arm and hugging them,
“And we love you.”
Kachio said, wrapping arms around Zukimu and myself. I had to laugh at how fast they were working. I was starting to feel them too. My body relaxed even more, if that were possible. I leaned into my brothers arms. I didn’t even mind it when Okukaze squeezed in beside Moriko and myself.
“Look.”
The older man pointed up at the sky and we looked up. A shooting star streamed across the sky.
“Make a wish.”
Yuuaa sighed. I don’t know what everybody else wished for, but I wished that the night would never end. It was granted, in a way. Be careful what you wish for.
Okukaze looked at me,
“Do you still have that wind pipe I gave to you?”
I had to think for a second to remember what wind pipe he was talking about.
“Uh, yeah. It’s near my bed.”
I lied. I actually lost it a few days after receiving it.
“Can you play something for us?”
He asked.
“I don’t have the pipe with me… like I said, it’s by my bed.”
I drifted softly down until my head was in Kachio’s lap. I could see everybody from the corner of my brown eye (heh.) at this angle. Okukaze’s long copper tail was apparently dexterous; he used it to grab a long wooden pip from his white fur sash. I didn’t notice that there before. The demon offered me the instrument with his outstretched tail and I took it. Thank god for my music lessons; if it hadn’t have been for them, he could have called me on my bullshit. I brought the pipe to my lips and closed my eyes, thinking of a song to play. My favorite song from my mother’s time came to mind instantly; she often played it for us on a tiny machine in our younger years. Her large sack of ‘batteries’ ran out long ago though, and now we could no longer enjoy the music of Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, or David Bowie. Good thing I lived far enough into the future to go and see them in concert. I began to play the notes of ‘Stairway to Heaven’, and to our altered minds it sounded like angel’s music. Yuuaa began to sing the first verse softly and Kachio used his knee as a soft drum. Soon, the other groups held attention for only our small trio of musicians. Yuuaa drifted to the left and rested her head on Zukimu’s large shoulder, tears beginning to build up in her eyes.
When we were finished, everybody clapped and asked for another song. Drugs and music go together so well. I began ‘The Man Who Sold the World’, Yuuaa and Kachio joining in like before. I didn’t notice that I also began to cry, and I really don’t know why the tears streamed down my cheeks. Maybe it was an emotional cleansing process brought on by the mushrooms. I looked up, and my brother was crying too. Nobody else was, though. When we finished our song, we had to decline for another. I, for one, just had the urge to stare at the sky.
I relaxed in my brother’s lap, and he laid down too. My hand snaked up towards the heavens and began weaving in a graceful arm-dance. It looked like my hand was brushing the fog-ridden moon, and I began to feel it’s rough texture on my fingertips.
“I can feel the moon.”
I mumbled to Kachio. He looked up and began mimicking me,
“It feels like a rough rock to me.”
“To me it feels like a thick blanket.”
Kachio said. I tilted my head back slightly when Zukimu began talking. His voice was so low and rough when he spoke and it sent warm chills down my spine.
“It seems like hours since we’ve eaten the mushrooms. Is it time yet, brother?”
He looked across the circle to Okukaze, who had his eyes closed as if meditating.
“Not yet. Don’t be impatient, brother. Another thirty minutes, when the clouds open for the moon again.”
Yuuaa lay down with her head in the middle of the circle,
“I’m hungry.”
Her voice seemed to almost whisper when she spoke. I closed my eyes and saw designs behind my eyelids, breathing in the humid air around me. My brother’s scent was strong and constant, and I was pleased that he was having a good time.
“Ryu, you smell good.”
Zukimu sniffed the air around him and leaned way down to sniff at the area near my head,
“Like summer rain.”
His face was very close to mine now; without thoughts of rejection or embarrassment, I reached up and took a handful of his black ropes of hair.
“So strange.”
I muttered, bringing the other hand up to pull softly on more locks,
“You smell like… maple sap.”
I told him. He got closer and used his giant hands to run his fingers through my hair. I don’t need to tell you my bodily reaction, as you can probably guess. We searched each other’s faces, not really in the romantic way that you would assume. More like, ‘hey, you’re fun to look at. And you feel good to touch.’
Kachio didn’t get annoyed that the two of us where stroking each other on his lap, just continued in his laying position while searching the heavens. I felt Okukaze’s hand on my calf, and I did not mind it despite the rape-y vibe he was giving me earlier. It just felt good to touch things, and be touched in return.
“You don’t have hair.”
Okukaze mumbled in wonder.
“Yeah.”
I answered, not really caring to explain the procedure of ripping away body hair with hot wax.
His big hand traveled down to my ankle and started tugging me off of my brother’s lap and away from Zukimu’s petting. I slid down to the grass with a sigh and sat up. Woah. When I got the familiar head-rush from moving too fast, my vision began to change. I looked at Okukaze and noticed that he was sitting still, but his body was moving somehow. When I concentrated my vision enough, his form hovered off the ground just enough to be barely noticeable. Then, he floated back down quickly.
“Are you flying?”
I felt that my eyes where wide. Okukaze looked down at himself and then back at me,
“I’m not sure. It feels like it. I can feel the grass just barely brushing me.”
His hand was still on my ankle. He wasn’t as shy as he was when sober, so he was talking more loudly now with longer sentences. He stared back down at his hand and watched himself gently massage the muscle over my Achilles tendon. For the record, I don’t have ‘kankles’; just a bit of muscle where it should just be bone.
“Like water.”
He ran his hands up the backs of my knees, and I giggled at the sensation. Had I been in the right frame of mind, I wouldn’t have been as compliant of the touches I was receiving. I could feel that my inner demon was starting to kick in, which was the point to all of this anyway. My deep instinct had me getting quite excited from the intention I was receiving. I looked over at Yuuaa laying close to me. Her eyes where completely closed, but she had this wide smile that indicated she was having a blast just staying still. Next to her, Moriko was looking at me with a cocked head. He sniffed in my direction and crawled closer to me,
“Do you see me?”
He asked, stopping to lay his head next to mine.
“Yes. Can you see yourself?”
“Almost. I feel as if I am like mist.”
I touched his shoulder, completely forgetting about his earlier prank.
“You aren’t like the mist. You are like the tree. You are here.”
Yeah, I know. Those fuckers were strong.
His hand rested against mine, and his fingers ran down my wrists. He picked my hand from his shoulder and ran my thumb across his cheek,
“You are the wind.”
He said softly. I completely forgot about Yuuaa and Kachio, and the other groups around us when Zukimu crawled over my brother to sit next to my head. I could smell Okukaze’s scent spiking lazily when he ran both hands up my thighs.
“Are you enjoying this, little feather?”
Zukimu inquired, his fingers finding my scalp. Instead of answering him, I just purred.
“Good, because we’re about to partake again. You won’t be enjoying yourself so much when we take in the itching spirit.”
I assumed he was referring to the belladonna. I never tried it before, mainly because of what I’d heard of its effects. Okukaze stopped touching my legs and stood up,
“Come, Zukimu, help me with the water.”
Zukimu stood up upon request and threw me a strange look before me walked out of my line of vision,
“I’m sorry about earlier, on the horse.”
Moriko moved from my hand touching his face, to his hand touching my chin. Oh yeah.
“It’s okay. It was a cruel joke, but I forgive you.”
“It was a joke at first, but I didn’t expect you to respond to me. I just wanted to… touch you.”
He emphasized his meaning by stroking the side of my neck,
“Well, you could have asked.”
I don’t know why I invited him to touch me, I guess it just felt right at the time. All it did was cause trouble, though. Moriko inhaled deeply,
“Can I touch you?”
I stared into his silver eyes and nodded my approval. His gentle fingers trailed down to my chest and his fingers brushed agonizingly soft circles near the top of my left breast. I thought that the flood gates had been opened between my legs from his simple touch, but I found that they had already been nudged somewhat. That must have been why the three demons where crawling all over me. I wasn’t wearing anything under my warm fur pelt, and my moon cycle was supposed to start extremely soon.
“Do you like it when I do this?”
His hands danced back up to my collarbone.
“Or is it just because you are flying so high?”
“No, it truly feels good, here. “
I demonstrated by running my hand up his arm. It raised goose bumps on his skin and I found that I enjoyed tickling his skin just as much as he did.
“What did Okukaze say to you in the forest?”
His question sounded casual enough, but his touch was getting dangerously close to my breasts again.
“He laid claim on me, but I told him to shove it up his ass.”
I flipped onto my stomach and searched his face while he reached over to brush my bottom lip,
“I thought that you would. He told father that you would be his mate when we were seven.”
We were silent then, and I remember the way his skin seemed to shift on his face. He lightly scratched my back,
“The firelight compliments you. Makes your skin bright, like the sun.”
Compliments passed between the two of us quietly and the next part of the ceremony commenced. I didn’t notice the big iron pot placed into the middle of the large fire. Nor did I initially notice the barrel behind a pile of rocks in the shadows, but it was brought out. Okukaze stalked to the fire and stuck both of his arms right in it. I could smell and hear the flesh burning, it must have been agonizing to pick the scalding pot of iron from the fire and place it on a stone slab next to the pit. Okukaze did all of this without even the slightest grimace of pain. His blackened skin began to heal quickly infront of my eyes, the skin reconstructing to its natural cream color and consistency within minutes. Even his arm hair grew back. My drugged mind was watching all of this in morbid fascination.
“That’s tea, the flower is boiled in water for ten minutes. It tastes pretty bad, too.”
Moriko was still scratching my back when I slowly got on my hands and knees and crawled closer to my brother.
“Kachio, sit up. Are you ready?”
He groaned and sat up stiffly,
“No. You won’t believe what just happened to me sister. I just re-lived my entire life up until now. I even went through my own birth.”
I rubbed his back. Pretty deep shit.
“And did you learn anything?”
“Yes. My life has been nothing but a fleeting second in the complexity of forever. I must make something of it.”
Well, Kachio just had his first entrance into his deep instincts, his ‘spirit’ if you will. No doubt he would decipher their meaning tomorrow with the rest of the group. I had no doubt that he would know himself after tonight.
“I’m glad to hear it. We’re about to take another journey.”
I kneeled over to the human girl and shook her softly by the shoulder,
“Sister, are you awake?”
“Yes. I am more awake than I ever have been.”
Ironically, she said it with her eyes shut tight.
“We’re about to take the belladonna. Sit up.”
She grimaced,
“I hate that stuff.”
I helped her up and she opened her eyes with a small frown. That was why I was apprehensive about it. The mention of the flower usually sent people into a gloom. Okukaze filled the wooden mugs full of the bright green liquid and passed everyone a mug. I noticed that Yuuaa’s wasn’t even a quarter of the way full. Good, humans shouldn’t put as much poison into their bodies as us.
“Maybe you should just take a small sip and pour the rest into the grass when nobody is looking.”
Kachio offered in his quietest voice. Yuuaa perked up at the idea. As anxious as I was about it, I was also excitedly curious.
My cup was handed to me and a single sniff was enough to slightly disgust me. It smelled like spoiled fruit.
Okukaze howled at the uncovered moon, and we joined him in a howling chorus. Down the hatch. We smoked another bowl and took two gulps each of the strong alcohol once again. Okukaze was still standing by the fire, and he spoke in a booming voice,
“I will warn you all once, should you feel the need to fight, remember that you are not to kill. The consequences are that you will be bound by hand and foot for the remainder of the hour. And whoever drinks the last of the water must fetch more.”
Not to kill? What the fuck did this shit do?
Thirty minutes later, I found out.
First, my skin was hot and I was parched. I stumbled over to the water barrel and thrust my head into the cooling liquid, taking greedy gulps. It was a good thing Yuuaa didn’t actually drink the tea, because we would surely be fighting over the barrel. A group was forming around me, and a female demon sunk her head in beside mine. I discovered that no matter how much I drank, the water wasn’t quenching my thirst. I moseyed back to my spot and plunked down. I knew I was in for a wild ride, because I didn’t remember walking to where I was now. It was like I teleported from the water to the grass in a split second. I began to itch, literally and figuratively. My body was soon dashed with my own nail marks, and I began to feel a little irritated. Like, moody menstrual cycle irritated. I knew that everybody was starting to feel the same way. Yuuaa sat quietly amidst the growing tension between the five of us.
“Are you having a bad time?”
Zukimu asked, his tone a bit insulted. Yuuaa shook her head,
“Not at all, cousin. I’m just thinking.”
“Oh, what about?”
Okukaze joined in, his voice raising. It sounded like a challenge.
“About how…”
Her face blanched, and her eyes drooped down in a dazed expression. She was always a very good actress.
“What where we talking about?”
Her eyebrows drew together. Zukimu blinked rapidly, and growled,
“I can’t remember.”
He said. Okukaze wasn’t finished with Yuuaa yet.
“I forget that humans get a little confused when they drink of nightshade. Is your little stomach okay, Yuuaa, or do you need me to hold your hair while you retch?”
His tone was obviously meant to provoke, and his condescending tone ticked me off to no end,
“You leave her alone.”
I growled at the bigger demon.
“I will do and say as I please to whomever I please.”
His voice was more graveled now, and his eyelids where lowered in a threatening expression.
“Not if I have anything to say about it.”
I leaned towards him and stared him down,
“You are making a grave mistake, pup. Do not challenge me.”
He growled back, not breaking eye contact,
“I will do and say anything I please, to whomever I please.”
I was mocking him viciously now. He leaned in closer, his nostrils flared,
“You haven’t the slightest clue what you are saying.”
I began to stand up, but my brother was quickly pulling me back down, snarling viciously at the prince,
“You dare to threaten my sister? Be careful, Okukaze. She is my pack, not yours.”
I’d never seen my brother so angry in my life. The older demon stood up, as did my brother,
“Step down, pup.”
Okukaze snarled. Moriko stood up and pushed his brother on the shoulder,
“You are the one picking fights. Stop being so barbaric.”
It was sweet the way the smaller male stood up to the much bigger one for our sakes. Okukaze’s tail was bristled, and his scent was violent. I glanced around with confusion, not knowing when exactly we had gone from standing to sitting. I noticed the other groups breaking out in small arguments, only one other male got as heated as we were right now.
Okukaze made a warning snarl and lifted his hand as if to claw his younger brother. Moriko was smart enough to challenge the alpha of the gathering. He bared his throat and tried to nudge Kachio down. I paid them no heed as I continued to stare at Okukaze. He was such an asshole. The way he thought he was king of the clearing made me very angry. His word was not law, and I would not submit to him. My challenging mood was courtesy of my dominative beast. I would accept the rule of a being stronger than myself, and I believed with every fiber of my being that the petty wolf was anything but my inferior.
“Sit down cub, you wouldn’t last a second against me.”
“You think so? Is it because of my dirty blood? Or is it because I have a pussy?”
His growl deepened,
“You are vulgar, and you need to be put in your place. I won’t tell you again. Sit. Down.”
I walked closer to him and stood as tall as I could, our noses almost touching.
“Tell me why I shouldn’t throw you down now.”
We were sharing breath. I defied him with everything that I had.
“Perhaps both facts work against you.”
He breathed back. Fuck. Him.
I snarled and pounced at him answer. Kuritsuki was behind me in an instant, ready to interfere should I not be able to handle myself. I knew that I could, though. Kachio was bellowing at us like an animal. At the prospect of a fight, we were quickly surrounded by feverish bodies spurring us on howling and snarling. My black claws came flying at his chest and he evaded them easily. I was still extremely thirsty, but now I wanted his blood instead of water. I managed to sink my teeth into his shoulder, and I thank Kami that the belladonna had slowed down his healing. He grabbed me by my arms and threw me to the ground but I leapt back up before he could get atop me. We went on fighting for what seemed like forever, and I got in a sufficient amount of attacks while he simply evaded me. He was trying to tire me out, and it was working. My mind was muddled and time was moving much faster than I could comprehend. I was attacking him too much. What was it that uncle had taught me about attentive strategy? It clicked then. Figure out your opponent’s weakness and plan accordingly. I knew Okukaze. His weakness was his pride. And me.
“What’s the matter, Okukaze? I would have thought you would jump at the chance to tackle me down.”
I said it loudly, and his expression was furious, but he did not respond.
“You keep avoiding my clutches, but is it not you that has been trying to seize me for so long?”
We stopped fighting, and his hands where in fists. I thought he would be much slower to strike when his ego was slightly deflated. Not so. He surprised me by circling me slowly,
“It is so. And now, you will learn who’s decree you will inevitably follow. I’ll give you a clue… it isn’t you.”
He pounced then, winding my long hair tightly in his fist and slamming my head into the ground with jaw-breaking force. I snarled and clawed at the ground with everything I had, trying desperately to get away from him. His weight was forced on my calves, and I was sure that my shins would shatter given just a little more weight. His groin pressed against my raised bottom and he bent over my shoulder, sinking his teeth into my trap. To my utter dismay, my body was responding tremendously to the rough treatment. I could feel my snatch quivering in excitement. Then, it dawned on me. It didn’t do any good to mock Okukaze, as he would just brush it off. Make him act on his weakness. My uncle had told me that I would probably never be as strong as a full demon, no matter my training. But I would always have something that they didn’t have in some way. In this case, a fully wanton vagina. I let loose the conscious control of my scent that I had grown used to holding. I stopped my animalistic rumbles and whined instead. I felt Okukaze’s breath hitch when he caught wind of just how wet and I was. I pushed my bottom into his hips and bent forward more, my black pelt lifting up a little more. He snarled and let my head loose, sliding off of my calves and instead made a grab for my hips. I saw Kachio and the twins dashing at us with red eyes. I moved faster than I could comprehend and threw my entire weight into my hand. I grabbed him by his thick neck and slammed him into the ground, my nails threatening to split the skin on the main artery. My knees where on his shoulders and I bared down with all of my might. No matter how strong he was, he would not get away without running the risk of his throat opening to my murderous nails.
“Submit, bitch.”
My voice was deeper to my ears than usual, and I could even smell my own dominating musk. With a reluctant roar, he bared his throat. The crowd was demented with the cloud of homicidal tension in the air. I was pried off of the alpha by two very forceful hands. I rumbled my displeasure when Zukimu threw me easily over his shoulder,
“That was foolish. You don’t know what you’ve done, pup.”
His voice was extremely irate.
“What I’ve done is kicked his uppity ass.”
“Yes, and now he’s going to make you pay for it. I know my brother better than you do, and you’ve just invited him to hurt you. He doesn’t take kindly to being shamed, especially in front of others.”
“What was I supposed to do? Step down.”
“Yes, you dolt. You don’t challenge an alpha and let him walk away.”
“So, are you saying I should have killed him?”
I inquired into the big man’s back. He smacked my bottom, and he did it very hard. I bit his back just as hard in return. The drug was still heavily affecting all of us. Zukimu grabbed me by the ankle and threw me to the ground; on the bright side, I got a good back crack from it.
“You’re an unruly bitch.”
He dropped down on top of me and grabbed me roughly by the neck,
“I am not my brother, Ryuumiu.”
He squeezed the sides of my neck, cutting off the circulation instead of putting pressure on my throat. Almost a lover’s choke. And the way he said my name with a snarl thrilled me in the strangest way.
“I will warn you once. I don’t like these snippy comments and childish games that you enjoy.”
He leaned into me and held his mouth to my neck,
“I am master here, despite what I may let my brother believe. You will not challenge me, bitch.”
I didn’t care what he said, I knew he was being easy on me. The way the tea was driving me crazy with a lust for violence had to be affecting him the same way too. And yet, he only held me down with the upmost consideration for my well-being. He wasn’t hurting me, just making me light-headed. He couldn’t just not grab my neck. These where different times, and the demon culture and totem poles are a lot different than your own.
“You’re awful rough with me, Zuki.”
I managed to say with a hushed voice. I even used his childhood nick name. His countenance softened in the slightest of ways, but he did not let up,
“I’m sorry, I just… he makes me so mad. And I wanted to make him like me a little bit less because…”
I gave a little cough and he released my neck.
“I know, I want him to like you a little less, too.”
He rubbed my skin, and I could feel bruises starting to form on them. Now, this was a man that I could follow. He was strong, but he was fair. Not haughty in the slightest. His angry expression changed to annoyed as he looked at the damage he had done to my skin.
“Ow.”
I whined when he touched the side where his thumb had been buried. His annoyed expression went away,
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have squeezed so hard.”
Ha. I pushed away from him and jumped to my feet, the world moving fast around me.
“Maybe you should have squeezed a little harder. I tend to listen better when I’m on the brink of death.”
His long eyebrows drew down into a confused frown,
“I’ll acknowledge that you are my alpha whenever you show me that you are stronger than me in every possible way. Until then, I will continue assuming that I am ruler of myself.”
I threw him a smirk and a challenging growl, and then sauntered away.
Little did I know that he would really take that to heart. I intrigued and challenged Zukimu that night. After that night, I became his weakness and his trigger. After that night, Zukimu would become the second demon to try and claim me.
