Title: Demanding answers

Prompt and Word Count: Seasoned-839

Characters: Jakotsu and Bankotsu

Warnings: Bankotsu uses the 'man' card again.

Summary: Part 134 of The Seven: Wanted Dead or Alive.

Prompt Summary: Jakotsu finally gets some answers, but he doesn't exactly like them.

That did not sit well with Jakotsu at all. It was bad enough that he knew next to nothing about their new traveling companion, but now even Bankotsu was withholding information from him. In Jakotsu's opinion, that was not right. They were the partners here, not him and Renkotsu. He shouldn't be hiding anything from him. Thinking that of course made him wonder exactly what it was they were hiding.

The idea that Bankotsu was cheating on him was dismissed long before it was ever even thought. He doubted it had something to do with the cattle drive, though it was the only thing the two had in common, but there was no reason to hide anything about it from him. He was there, he already knew what happened on that trip.

No whatever they were hiding had to be about where they were headed; since he highly doubted they were talking about their short past where he tried to burn them alive. And talking about where they were going without including him could only mean one thing; it was going to be dangerous. No doubt playing the 'man' card again, Bankotsu was probably trying to protect him.

As sweet a thought as that was, there was no way Jakotsu was going to let him get away with it. Especially not this time. Deciding it was time they filled him in, the less than seasoned rider sped up his horse as much as he could and made a beeline for their intended course. Once he was in front of them, Jakotsu pulled back on his reigns to stop his horse directly in their path.

"Enough, we are going no further until I am caught up. I have already figured out that where we are going must be dangerous, so fill me in from there," Jakotsu demanded as he faced the two of them, though he kept his eyes on Bankotsu. For a moment, he remained silent other than heaving a heavy sigh before finally smiling at him softly.

"Should have known you'd figure it out. Though, it is not actually dangerous. The problem is, in order to get any information we are going to actually have to start working there. They tend to not talk to outsiders. The reason I have waited so long to speak with you about this and have made a point to not let you hear any of the planning is because you will not be going with us."

As soon as the words left his mouth, Jakotsu began to protest, but Bankotsu quickly cut him off before he could. "Some of the men that work in the mine tend to get bored rather quickly as they are far from a woman for months at a time. They have been known to use more feminine men without their consent. It is no place for you to be and to ensure you do not show up, I have no intention of even telling you what city it is near.

"I will be dropping you off a few towns away and you will be waiting there for my return. Even if I have to tie you to the bed to make sure," Bankotsu warned before guiding his horse around Jakotsu's and starting to move again. Though Renkotsu did the same on the other side of him, he continued on ahead while Bankotsu hung back so Jakotsu could catch up.

Doing so rather quickly, Jakotsu allowed his horse to fall in step with Bankotsu's before turning his attention back to him. "As much as I may have wished to have been been born one, I am not a defenseless woman, Bankotsu. I could be an asset, not a liability," Jakotsu insisted as he glanced over at him; his hurt evident in his eyes.

"Not to me, not this time, Jakotsu. I will slaughter any man that dares to lay a hand on you. I will not even give them the chance to regret their actions this time. I will not knowingly put you in that kind of danger and you will listen to me, Jakotsu. Fight me on my decisions later if you wish, but this time you will obey me or I will hogtie you and leave you in a room until I return."

For a moment, Jakotsu continued to ride in silence as he stared at the man beside him before finally pulling back on his reigns to stop his horse once more. Once Bankotsu had done the same, Jakotsu grabbed onto his braid and pulled him toward his horse. Locking his lips with Bankotsu's before he realized what was happening, Jakotsu kissed him hard before releasing him just as quickly.

"Do not think it means you can get away with it again, but you are very enticing when you are taking charge." Having said all he was going to, Jakotsu rode off ahead, leaving Bankotsu sitting there shaking his head. After a moment, he smiled smugly to himself before hurrying to catch up to them. Happy that Jakotsu was not going to fight him, Bankotsu decided it best not to press his luck by informing him that it would probably not be the last time he put his foot down on something.

It did not matter if Jakotsu was born female or not, he was the dominate one in the relationship and he would simply have to get used to being dominated when the need arose. Keeping him out of danger would always be one of those times and considering the type of journey they were on, he knew dangers would pop up occasionally.
