Without missing a beat, Jakotsu began returning the kiss; their movement quickly becoming frenzied. Just as the passion began to heat up, Bankotsu pulled back with a smirk. "That is to keep you warm at night while I am gone."
Not about to let him get off that easy, Jakotsu grabbed a hold of his braid and pulled him back to his lips once more. This time, it was Jakotsu who pulled back when the need for air began to overwhelm him. "You better come back to me."
Instead of responding to his demand, Bankotsu laughed as he wondered, "Is that going to be your thing now? Pulling on my braid."
"That all depends on whether or not you like it," Jakotsu told him honestly. Instead of answering verbally, Bankotsu pulled him close once more as their lips crashed against each other for the third and final time of their goodbye.
Though neither of them desired to this time, they both knew they needed to pull away and reluctantly did so. "I will be fine, Jakotsu, and I will come back to you," Bankotsu promised before turning his head when they heard Renkotsu calling for him. "Goodbye," he whispered as he pressed his forehead against his for a moment before heading back the way they had come.
Hearing himself panting, Jakotsu decided to wait a few beats before stepping out into the sunlight as well. Though, judging by the look he was sporting, Renkotsu knew exactly what had happened, he had apparently decided against saying anything. Instead, he had silently handed something to Bankotsu who, in turn, handed it to Jakotsu. "There is no way of knowing how long it will take us, but you are to remain here until I return."
Though he still wished to be going with them, Jakotsu nodded his head in silence as he glanced down at the key in his hand. "I will wait here," Jakotsu promised as he glanced up once more with a smile. A quick nod of their heads and the two were walking away, heading back to where they had left the horses. Silently, Jakotsu watched as they mounted their horses and began leading them back out of town.
Bankotsu's glance back in his direction did not go unnoticed by Jakotsu and he shot him a quick smile to assure him that he too would be fine. Watching until they could no longer be seen, Jakotsu sighed heavily before grabbing his belongings from where Renkotsu had apparently left them for him. Turning, he began making his way inside of the inn; nodding in greeting to its keeper as he passed.
...
Early the next morning, unable to sleep in as he would have liked, Jakotsu found himself rising before the sun. Giving up after a few minutes of lying in bed without being able to fall asleep, he decided it was time he got his day started; even if he had no idea yet what to fill his day with. Figuring getting to know the town he would be staying in, for who knows how long, was a good start, he quickly dressed himself and made his way back downstairs.
As it was still early, none of the other patrons or the innkeeper was awake yet; leaving the common areas of the inn as dim portals leading into darkness. His life having been what it had, a little darkness was unable to scare Jakotsu and he paid it little attention as he made his way over to the hearth. A quick estimate of the time assuring him the innkeeper would be rising soon, Jakotsu rebuilt the fire before heading outside.
The distraction did very little to help him pass the time, as the sun had still yet to begin rising as he stepped outside into the dim light of the street lights. Knowing their flames would soon be snuffed when the sun began to rise, he paid them no more attention as he started off in a random direction. It did not matter to him where he was going as everything would still be closed for a while, but it would give him a good chance to explore without being distracted by the noisy hustle and bustle of the day.
