Chapter 15: Overcoming Tragedy

A/N: Kagome and Rin have a heart to heart about Kouga attacking Rin and causing her to lose the pup. Can Kagome help Rin deal with her loss?
It had been four months since Rin had been assaulted by Kouga and lost her unborn pup. Sas has hardly eating or sleeping mostly all she did was cry. Kagome watched Rin from the terrace of her and Inuyasha�s chambers. She shook her head sadly as she watched Rin begin to sob alone in the North garden. Inuyasha�s strong hands on Kagome�s shoulders made her jump a little. �You okay Kagome?�
�Huh? Oh yes, just watching Rin. Inuyasha she�s really starting to lose it you know?� Her blue gray eyes looked up into his warm pools of amber and he could see the tears glistening in them.
�Please don�t cry Kagome, you know I hate it when you do.�
�It�s just that I feel so sorry for her and Sesshomaru, they both suffered an incredible loss. I have no idea how I would deal with losing a child.�

Amaiya was now five months old and was crawling. She had a head full of brown hair that was so dark it almost looked black. Amaiya�s violet eyes only seemed to get more striking as she grew. Kagome could tell that Amaiya was going to inherit some of her miko abilities as well as some of her father�s demon instinct.
�Inuyasha?�
�Yes Kagome?�
�Do you think Rin would talk to me about her feelings?�
�Maybe. It can�t hurt to try.�

Oh well, I don�t mind the idea of Kagome being pregnant with another one of my pups.� Down in the North garden Kagome approached Rin cautiously.
�Rin?�
�Oh hello Kagome.� Kagome looked at the young maidens red face and puffy eyes and knew that she had been crying for quite some time now.
�How are you feeling Rin?�

�I can understand that.�
�No you don�t! You have no idea what I�m going through right now! You didn�t lose your child!� Kagome flinched at Rin�s harsh outburst but merely keep talking to her.
�Look Rin, I know that you must be suffering incredibly right now, and you�re absolutely right, I have no idea how you feel. I didn�t lose my child and I can only imagine the hell that you�re going through. I just thought that maybe you would like to have someone to talk to.�
�I�m sorry for snapping at you Kagome, I just can�t help it. I�ve been snapping at Sesshomaru as well, but he�s been very supportive and nurturing.� Kagome�s blue gray eyes grew wide at the thought of the cold hearted demon being nurturing to anyone. She couldn�t really picture Sesshomaru giving a damn about anyone other than himself but she knew that he did love Rin. She knew before he had told Rin herself how he felt about her. Kagome saw the way that Sesshomaru looked at Rin when he thought that no one was watching him. It was absolutely adorable the way that Sesshomaru did everything he could to make the young maiden smile.
�So Rin, do you remember what the demon that attacked you looked like?�
�Yes. Why?�
�Can you tell me who he was?�
�His name was Kouga.� Kagome�s breath caught in her throat. She had known Kouga when she lived in the village that Lord Inutaisho had taken her from. He had always been kind and gentle towards her but that was years ago. Perhaps he had changed somehow. �He said he was the Prince of all the wolf youkai people.� Unknown to both Kagome and Rin Sesshomaru was hiding among the thick hedges that surrounded them and listening to their conversation. He suppressed the urge to growl when he heard that it had been Kouga that had raped his mate and caused her to miscarry their unborn pup. Sesshomaru silently vowed to himself that he would kill the lowly wolf prince for ever even looking at his mate.
�I can�t believe that Kouga did this to you.�
�He was a monster Kagome! I lost a child because of him.� Kagome held Rin tightly in her arms and allowed the distraught young woman to sob against her chest.

�So help me Kami, I shall kill that bastard Kouga for what he�s done to my mate! He shall answer for his crime if it�s the last thing I ever do!�
