Chapter 14: The Brother That Had To Walk Away
A/N: Inuyasha and Sesshomaru learn who is the father of Kagome’s baby. Will they keep their promise to walk away for good?
Inuyasha swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat that was now as dry as a desert during the hottest part of the day. He nodded for the young nurse to read off the results of the requested paternity test. He could feel Sesshomaru’s cold amber eyes burning a hole in the side of his face but he made no move to acknowledge his brother’s stare. “I’m sorry Mr. Inuyasha Nobunaga, but I’m afraid you’re not the father of Kagome’s unborn child.” Inuyasha gave a half hearted nod and then sank back down into the chair beside Kagome’s bed. He glanced up as the nurse told Sesshomaru that he was the baby’s father. Sesshomaru broke into a genuine smile upon hearing that Kagome was having his baby. Inuyasha’s golden gaze shifted to his wife who was now resting peacefully in the bed beside him.
He grabbed hand and and squeezed it gently. “Listen Sesshomaru, can I have a minute alone with Kagome?”
“Certainly.” Sesshomaru strode out of the room with the nurse following quickly after him. Kagome began to stir and her blue gray eyes fluttered open.
“Inuyasha, what happened?”
“You fainted.”
“What’s wrong with me?”
“You’re pregnant Kagome.”
“We’re having a baby Inuyasha?”
“No.”
“But you said-”
“The baby isn’t mine Kagome.”
“Then-”
“That’s right, the baby is Sesshomaru’s.”
“Oh Inuyasha, I-”
“Don’t Kagome, don’t apologize.”
“So then what now?”
“I walk away and you go to Sesshomaru.”
“But Inu-”
