Chapter: Heaven Let Your Light Shine Down
A/N: Woot! Here it is, the last chapter! Sorry it took me so long to get it out, but I write to music, and I have to have a song that inspires me. I was listening to Xepher by Tatsh for this one. It's on the DDR game, Supernova. Yeah, I got my baby sister a couple of DDR games, and a mat for her birthday last year. Stay tuned because after this chapter, I still have an epilogue for this story. Hope you enjoy.

Heaven Let Your Light Shine Down

Inuyasha pulled away from Kagome, and looked deeply into her eyes. He knew she wasn't gone yet, he still had hope. He gracefully embraced her once again, and turned his head so that he could whisper in her ear.
"I love you. . . .I love you so much! My life would have no meaning if you weren't in it. I can't breathe when you're not near me. I think, deep down, I've always loved you. The first time I met you, I felt your soul pulling me towards you. I resisted the call then, because I couldn't bear to hurt Kikyo, the woman I thought was my soulmate. But I don't want to resist anymore, I don't think I could even if I wanted to. I want you. . .You, Kagome Higurashi. I want to be selfish, I want all of you. I want to wake up and see your face in the morning, bad breath and everything. I want us to argue and make up. I want us to mate, and be married. I want you to be the mother of my pups. So, don't you give up! Don't you leave me now. You can't. . . .Kagome, I want to be with you forever. . . . .I want us to BE forever." He paused for a moment to draw back and look into her eyes once again.
"You are stronger than he is. Your soul is the purest I've ever seen. I believe in you, even if you can't believe in yourself. The Kami's themselves believe in you. They would have never given you this task if they thought you couldn't succeed. You need to get up and end this. . . .once and for all. Do it for us. . .do it for love. I've already told you two or three times, but here I go again, I love you, silly girl. My heart and soul belong to you only." He whispered as he leaned in and claimed her lips once again.
As soon as his lips touched hers, a bright white light that outshone the brightest stars in the heavens engulfed the embracing couple. And he felt her body disappear from his arms.
'I've failed,' was all he could think before he heard a gasp issue from Kikyo.

He glanced over at the woman he had once held so close to his heart, and noticed she was looking up. He followed her line of sight until he saw what had made her gasp in surprise and awe.
There, floating above them, engulfed in a pure white light, was Kagome. . . . .in her new demon form.
"Naraku, it is time for you to face retribution for all of your evil misdeeds. The time has come, let's end this." She said in a powerful, yet ethereal voice. They could feel an influx of power radiating from the girl that they knew and loved, and it seemed as if an invisible wind was raising around her, whipping her hair and her new gauzy white gown around her body.
As soon as the words had left her mouth, the darkness that was fighting over her soul suddenly shimmered into the form of Naraku, the much despised half-demon.
He smirked arrogantly at the angel now floating twenty feet above them, "Do you really think that you. . . .YOU, a puny little half-wit, will be able to defeat me? I am the greatest evil to grace the face of the earth save Satan, himself. I am the plethora of evil, I am the many, I am the great, I am LEGION. And there is no force in heaven, hell, or earth that is an equal to my power. You think to challenge me? You are sadly going to be disappointed with the outcome. But go ahead, take your best shot. . . .and then save me a place in hell when you get there." He said while sending a ball of pure evil at her.
She said nothing, merely moved to the side moments before the evil could hit her. And then, promptly disappeared from sight.
Only to shimmer back into reality a few seconds later, floating right beside the pure evil now trying to inhabit her very soul.
She leaned towards him as she extended her hand, palm down. "You're right, you are the greatest evil to ever walk among mortals. But let me share a secret with you. . . .even evil has a weakness."
With her words, her hand started to glow as bright as her aura, and she brought the palm of her hand up to face him as a blast of purifying energy rushed out to meet him.
He moved quickly, she would give him that credit, but quick as he was, even he couldn't avoid getting clipped on the shoulder by her power.
"Playing with fire now, aren't we little miko?" he asked as his face drew into a caricature of a sneer, "Let's see how you like this little ball of wax"
He drew as much of his power as he could and let her have it.
But, once again, she dodged his power, and started to float after him. She moved with such animalistic grace, such fluidity, it seemed as if she were dancing.
All Kikyo and Inuyasha could do was watch in awe. They had always suspected that if properly provoked, Kagome would be a force to be reckoned with, but never had they thought to see her with such tight control on her abilities.
But even with her new found power she could not seem to land a serious injury on the bastard hanyou, Naraku. She was managing to get small hits here and there, but she knew that it would take much more to destroy him. She would not be able to defeat him with her power alone. . . .she glanced at Kikyo.
Kikyo watched, amazed, and almost did not realize that her long time friend was approaching her. She looked at Kagome with something akin to confusion, "What's wrong, Kagome?"
"My friend. . . .sister of my heart, I will not be able to bring him down alone. It will take a collaboration and joining of our powers to completely wipe him from the face of the earth for good," she said as she stepped forward to embrace Kikyo.
"Kagome, what are you doing?" Kikyo asked a little uncertainly.
"Just trust me. Like you said, everything happens for a reason." She said as she leaned in the few extra inches and embraced her long dead friend.
There was a brief flash of light, and Kikyo was gone. But the woman left standing where Kagome had stood only a few moments ago, looked curiously like a mixture of the two.
"I see now, this is what you meant" the strange apparition said in what sounded like a doubled voice.
Inuyasha could only stare as confusion clouded his thoughts, it sounded as if Kikyo and Kagome's voices were coming from the newcomer.
It was then that he realized that Kagome had temporarily absorbed Kikyo to be able to draw on her plethora of power.
Kagome/Kikyo had turned back to Naraku, who had been watching the exchange with a look of supreme disgust on his face.
"How quaint. . . .you couldn't beat me yourself, so you decided to stack the odds in your favor, huh? Well, let me just tell you, it doesn�t matter how many other miko's you absorb Kagome, you will never defeat me."
"Oh really?" She said as she threw a lightening fast bolt of purifying energy towards his form.
Even though he saw it coming. . . .even though he moved to dodge it, the energy seemed to have be like a heat seeking missile, for it followed him no matter where he moved.
As he was struck in the chest, he started to howl in frustration, anger, and disbelief, and as he watched, he saw his body turn to dust.
And that was the end of the evil hanyou, Naraku.
Once the wind and light died down, Inuyasha looked over towards Kikyo/Kagome, and wondered if his true love . . . .if his soulmate was still in there somewhere.
As he watched, the body now housing two miko souls began to fade in and out. And with every fade in or fade out the body started to look more like Kagome with every passing second. And within a few minutes they had their souls separated, and once again, two women stood in front of him.
Kagome looked to Inuyasha with a sigh of relief, and tears rolling down her cheeks.
He pulled her into a tight embrace, and would have been content to stand there forever, just as long as he could hold her , when they heard Kikyo gently clear her throat behind them.
"I apologize for the intrusion, but I think it is time for us all to resume life our normal places."
"Ok, but Kikyo, can I ask you just one question?" Kagome said as her friend slowly began to fade from their sight.

"You can ask me anything you want, Kagome. You were the closest "girlfriend" I've ever had. Ask away!" She responded cheerfully.
"Well, I was just wondering if you got some kind of reward for everything you've had to endure until we could bring the madness of Naraku to an end.
Kikyo just smiled and said, "When I reincarnate, the Kami's have blessed me so that I will find my soulmate in my next life and we will be together forever,just as the two of you will be. And while most people have to wait hundreds of years before they reincarnate, I had the offer of choosing to either wait, or get reincarnated tonight.
"Which did you choose?" she asked Kikyo.

I chose tonight, and once I have reached maturity, I will know the one I seek as soon as I see him. They told me to expect it from the most unlikely individuals, and who am I to question the Kami's above, or their decisions?"

"Hurry and make haste, my new body is being born right now, and I can not miss the birthing or the child will have no soul. Give me a hug, and Know that whatever you are, I am thinking of you two. You two are the very best friends a girl could ask for ever. We will meet again, of that you can be sure!"
They both gave her quick hugs before she disappeared, and was gone from their sight.
Kagome heaved a lttle sigh, and suddenly they were transported back to their world, where they found themselves on the stage.
Youkai were milling about in confusion trying to figure out what had just happened. Kagome looked to her right and saw Inuyasha rise up slowly as well.
As his eyes met hers, they each gave a tiny smile, and Kagome whispered, "We did it! I can't believe it, he's really gone!"
"No, you did it," he said, grinning while he pulled her into his lap to hold the exhausted girl close.
Kagome suddenly turned serious, and turned her sky colored eyes to meet his honey golden orbs.
"Inuyasha, did you mean what you said back there? About wanting me and everything?" she asked timidly.
"I meant every word, and they are as true now as they were then. . ."he said tenderly, as he reached up one hand to cup her chin and caress her cheek.
She leaned into the caress and a contented smile floated over her face, "Good, because I want all of you too. . . . ." She trailed off.

"Really now, every last bit?" he said teasing her a little.
"Of course! Why just buy the popsicles, when you can buy the whole freakin popsicle stand!" and as soon as those words left her lips, he pulled her to him possesively, and stole another kiss.

A/N: Stay tuned for the Epilogue! I plan on tying up all the loose ends in there. How did you like it?
