Love through the ages

A/N: my power went out so I sat around and wrote this by candle light on my lap top while waiting for the power company to get a move on and bring back the lights. “What do you mean upcoming mating ceremony?” Sesshomaru asked, keeping his voice neutral, and his face emotionless.

“You are approaching you 1,000 birthday my Lord,” Linh purred, keeping her voice sweet and pleasant. “As is tradition you should have a heir birthed by now.”

“The inhabitants of the Western Lands must be assured their will be a powerful heir,” Cho continued.

“I take it you have found away around Taijina being the intended,” Sesshomaru growled, not pleased he would have to mate some random female demon. “You can stop the foolishness. This Sesshomaru will bed a female bitch when he wants to. I will not mate some random demon whore.”

“Actually,” Fu said, piping up and trying his damnedest to look his Lord in the eyes without shaking. “Your father and the Advisor’s choice of an intended mate is final, only death could stop the mating ceremony. Since Taijina is not dead…”

“You will not harm her,” Sesshomaru growled. Fu quickly looked down, his cheeks tinting pink in embarrassment.

“Lord Sesshomaru,” Linh purred again in her sweet voice. “We do not intend to harm her. In fact we plan to make sure she is the Lady of the West in two weeks.”

“What exactly changed your mind?” Sesshomaru asked, keeping his face neutral, inside he was confused about their change of heart. After Taijina fled the western lands they called for her blood, and now they wanted her to be his mate. Just what was going on here?

“What indeed,” Cho huffed, as he glared at Linh, who smiled sweetly to him. Looking back towards Sesshomaru, Cho continued to speak. “After she abandon her pack 20 some years ago, I personally called for her head. But I was somehow under ruled.”

“Stop being bitter and get on with it,” Linh ordered him, her voice losing its sweet tone.

“As I was saying,” Cho said, while clearing his throat. “She should have been punished more harshly. Death is what Taijina deserved…”

“Oh enough already,” Linh growled, giving Cho a death glare. Turning her eyes back to Sesshomaru, she laced her voice once more with sweetness. “The point my Lord, is that we have notice a certain aspect in Taijina that proves she is worthy of being the Lady of this household. Beside being named as intended by you father, she has proven today that she is willing to risk herself for the sake of a pack member.”

“When she stood up to Kikyo for InuYasha, fully Kikyo was a Miko who could destroy her,” Fu continued for Linh. “She proved she would put her life in mortal danger so a pack member would not be harmed in a physical or emotional manner.”

“And since we can’t get around the whole intended catastrophe,” Cho huffed. “And we need a heir you two will be mated by two weeks end. By next year we will hopefully see an heir born or on it’s way. Understood?”

“I will agree to this on one condition,” Sesshomaru replied.

“And what is that?” Cho asked.

“You shall tell Taijina this, and I will be no where around,” Sesshomaru requested, fully knowing that the demoness would be blown into a full blood rage at the news. He wasn’t going to be around to save his advisors from his intended mate.

“Agreed,” Linh purred. “Also the invitations have already been sent, and the Lords will arrive in a weeks time to begin the celebration.”

“Is that all?” Sesshomaru asked while quirking an eyebrow. When they nodded he left without another word. Inside he was fuming that they dare sent out the invitations to his mating ceremony before he agreed. Well if they thought Taijina was going to easily agree as he did, then they had another thing coming. For now he was going to take out his frustration on some of the guards in a sparring match.

A male rabbit Youkai messenger knocked on Taijina’s locked door. So far she had not answered to any of his knock, and he had been there for almost a hour now. She had locked herself in her room after slapping Lord Sesshomaru, and now the advisors wished to speak to her. Sighing, the messenger knocked again.

“Will you leave me alone!” Taijina roared from beyond the door, freighting the messenger. “If I don’t answer the first time you knock, what makes you think I will the next five hundred times you knock!”

“Please my lady,” he called back to her, he couldn’t back down. It could mean his head after all. “The advisors of the house of Inu have requested your presence in their chamber.”

“So they finally have decided to throw me out,” she laughed as she came out of the room and started to heads towards their chambers, leaving a confused messenger behind. With her head held high, she walked towards the chambers, knowing fully well this could be the last time she ever walked down any of these halls. Entering the room, the three looked up at her unannounced presence. “I hear you wish to speak with me.”

“Indeed,” Cho mutters, glaring at her, as she wore nothing more then a simple light purple informal kimono. That would soon change, however, as she would be required to dress as her station demanded.

“Yes my Lady,” Linh replied sweetly, after sending Cho a quick scowl. Letting a soft smile slip onto her lips, as she looked towards Taijina, she continued. “We have the pleasure of informing you Lord Sesshomaru has agreed to the mating ceremony two weeks from today. The other lords and ladies are expected to start arriving in a weeks time.”

“Excuse me,” Taijina gasped, as she dropped her jaw. “Sesshomaru? Mating ceremony? Next week? Have you all lost your fucking minds?!?”

“Please my lady, such language does not become one in you current position,” Cho sneered. “And neither does your attire. All your informal kimonos will be removed from your closet, and only the finest silk kimonos will replace them. You are to look presentable as the Lady of the Western lands whenever you are out of your or the Lord’s bed chambers.”

“Whoa! hold on here,” Taijina gaped, at a lost of what was happing. “I came in here expecting to be exiled from the castle, not made it’s lady!!! Besides you cannot force me to mate with HIM!”

“Either mate with him or you shall incur our wrath,” Linh replied bluntly, all sweetness gone from her voice. “And we shall not be as leant as Lord Sesshomaru was in his punishment.”

“In other words,” Taijina growled. “I either mate with him or I forfeit my life.”

“If you wish to put it so bluntly, then yes,” Linh purred.

“Alright kill me,” Taijina smirked, knowing fully well that they would not kill her. After all she was under the lord’s protection, and if they did then they would incur the lord’s wrath. Cho and Linh exchanged looks, as Fu continued to stare down at the floor, never daring to look at Taijina.

“You know we could deny InuYasha from ever finding that Miko,” Linh told her, her voice laced with a poisonous sweetness that made Taijina’s heart almost stop. “After all she is a human, and with him as the next in line, well we can’t have anymore human blood mixed in our Inu Lord’s line.”

“You threaten InuYasha’s happiness now?” Taijina growled, trying to keep her temper in check. “All three of you our bastards. And I am sad to have once called you brother Fu. Fine, I’ll mate him, as long as you three make a promise not to interfere with InuYasha and Kagome.”

“With a strong full blooded Inu male heir who cares who the Hanyou mates,” Cho smiled. “As long as you produce that male heir then we will over look InuYasha’s choice in a mate.”

“And any children of the pair will be accepted into the pack, no questions ask,” Taijina demanded.

“Of course,” Linh replied.

“And children of those children and so forth,” Taijina smirked. After all if you where forced to do something you didn’t want to better make any demands you can get in.

“Yes, yes,” Linh said, getting impatient. “Anymore demands?”

“After I birth you a heir I will not have to sleep in Lord Sesshomaru’s bed,” Taijina said, making her last demand.

“Unless something happens to that heir then that is fine,” Cho growled, wishing she would go. He felt like she was starting to take advantage of the situation, after all there were plenty of demonesses who would kill for the opportunity of mating Lord Sesshomaru and becoming Lady of the West.

“Fine then it is agreed,” she replied turning around and leaving them without another word.

“Those two are more alike then they will ever know,” Cho huffed.

“Indeed,” Linh growled and look towards Fu. “And you. Start acting like an advisor and not a lost little pup. She may be your sister but you are in a position of power. So start making her bend to your will.”

“Sorry,” he mumbled.
