Hi again! I feel like such a baby. I’m ACTUALLY listening to Justin Bieber in order to get inspiration. One of his new songs from that new album he’s got. It’s actually really catchy… But I feel like I’m conforming to the masses just by listening to it. OH WELL.
Enjoy this next chapter! Leave a review pl0x n thx.

Kagome was completely unaware of what was happening on the other side of the barrier. Truth be told, she didn’t even know there was a barrier up. Any sounds or auras were completely gone, minus her own and the one before her.
Upon fully stepping into the room, Kagome was greeted with a kind, elderly face of a woman. She was sitting in one of the chairs across from the door, smiling towards her guest.
“Ye have finally arrived, young one,” the lady spoke to Kagome, “Please, sit. We don’t have much time.” She gestured to a seat beside her own.
Kagome didn’t feel afraid at all, she had a hidden excitement to learn who this woman was just residing below the surface of her façade. Sitting next to the woman, Kagome took note of the position her hands laid in. They seemed to be forming shapes every once in a while, as if she were casting a spell.
“Bare with me child, as I make haste with explanations. More will come with time. My name is Kaede, I am a priestess much like you. I have been residing in this wing for a large portion of my life. I was told I was the last of my kind.
“You see, many centuries ago our race was killed off. So much so that we were set to be extinct. However, the Gods forbade the complete annihilation of our clan. They empowered one of our beings with the Shikon no Tama, enabling them to use the full power of the Sacred Jewel without suffering the consequences. They allowed this in order to ensure our race’s survival.
“However, the priestess needed to ensure the Shikon no Tama’s safety from coming into the wrong hands, so she was cremated along with the Sacred Jewel.”
Kagome looked towards the woman named Kaede, enraptured in the whole story she had begun to tell, finally getting some answers to all the questions she had about her ancestors.
“But, then… How are-” Kagome was cut off when the sound of something like thunder seemed to crash right outside of the very room they resided in. The sound caused Kagome to jump out of her seat, looking in the direction from where the sound came; worried.
“Child, ye must be calm. I shan’t not miss this chance to tell you the rest of our ancestor’s tale.” Kaede seemed to have grabbed her wrist using her priestly powers, seeing as her real hands were quickly forming new incantations.
Kagome looked back to Kaede with the same worried expression, “How are you still here if she died and was the last one?”
“She was not the last of our kind, she was the Chosen One to receive the powers of the Shikon no Tama. She could not save everyone, however, and she did the best that she could before she took it with her to her grave. She placed a protection spell on me, her younger sister, to keep me alive.
“She is the only reason I live today. I have lived for centuries waiting for this moment. For ye, child. Ye will ensure our kind does not die. Ye have the Shikon no Tama inside o’ you. My older sister is your direct ascendant. Her powers have passed onto ye.”
Kaede closed her eyes momentarily as she said a few more incantations. More thunder-like noises could be heard outside of the door, of which were getting louder and louder as time went on.
Kagome stood there, shocked. She looked down at her shaking hands, unable to believe that she had such a power within her. “B-but then why are you here? In this place?” she inquired.
“My older sister, Lady Kikyo, ensured that I would not die until I had found ye; her reincarnation. The protection spell she placed upon me extended my lifespan until this moment came. When I could teach ye our people’s ancestry. The spell ensured that I would not die to demon hands by empowering my blood with holy energy that is most potent to any demon.”
“What about humans then? Couldn’t they just hire someone else to do the dirty work?” Kagome felt like there was a piece of the puzzle missing somewhere.
“Ah, yes. That has happened,” Kaede seemed to remembering something in her past that was very painful based upon the expression on her face, “But ye see, I can only die by one’s hand only. The most powerful demon that walks this planet. This is because I must complete my deed.
“Do not think that that means I cannot feel pain. Ye shan’t not know the tortures I have been bestowed upon. Though, every time I would come back breathing. They finally gave up, and placed me here.”
“Who is this demon, then? What brought you here?” Kagome felt like she was asking the same question over and over, not really getting a true answer.
“That has yet to be determined, but that is why I am here. Lord Sesshoumaru does not want his enemies to know of my existences. The existence of our kind. For if they were to know of our survival… Well let’s just say there would be another war amongst the demons. My living here may be unpleasant, but at least my presence is hidden so that we don’t have to find out who that demon is before I may tutor you.”
Kagome seemed to think this through, a small frown gracing her features, “So, Lord Sesshoumaru is not the strongest?”
Kaede opened her eyes, looking up at the young miko, “Not as of this moment. If he were, I would be dead.”
Kagome bit her lip, “How did Sesshoumaru find you?”
Kaede opened her mouth to answer, but was interrupted by the loud thundering footsteps that halted right in front of their door. Both Kaede and Kagome looked towards the door, waiting to see what would happen.
A pregnant pause passed before the door was ripped from its hinges, flying somewhere off next to them. Kagome gasped as she closed her eyes and covered her face with her arms. Kaede stopped her incantations and an unknowing force in the air around them dissipated.
Kagome peeked through her arms, looking at whatever it was that came into the room. Sesshoumaru stood in the doorway, his eyes blood red with turquoise pupils. His fangs were bared and his hair was frazzled, whipping around with the power of his aura engulfing his entire being. The pink electricity was still crackling all around his body and armor, of which had eaten away at a good amount of his clothing.
Sesshoumaru’s claws continued to flex with anticipation as he eyed the two in front of him. Upon seeing his miko, he felt his anger start to slip away.
His gaze drifted back to the elderly priestess still sitting in her chair, a snarl passing his lips. A lower, more baritone voice than his actual voice growled out, “You took mate.”
Kaede’s eyes widened at his use of “mate”. She looked over at Kagome who seemed to be just as shocked, then back to the demon in front of her. She had only a few confrontations with Sesshoumaru, of which was never with his demon. She knew about them well enough to know that they were not logical enough to listen to reason, so she decided that for now she would placate it in order to obtain her ulterior motive. “I was unaware that the Lord had taken a new mate.”
Sesshoumaru growled at her once more, walking towards Kagome as he stared Kaede down. As he got closer, he yanked Kagome by her wrist into his hard chest. His other hand came to rest on the back of her head as he pulled her tight against him, “Mate.”
Kagome’s heart began to beat harder against her chest as she listened to the soft growls deep within his chest. He thinks of me as his mate?!
“I would never harm your mate, My Lord,” Kaede responded.
Sesshoumaru closed his eyes and buried his nose into the crook of her neck, searching for her mating mark, but found none. Sesshoumaru opened his eyes and gripped her hair tightly as he pulled her back so he could look at her better, “Why not mate?”
Kagome was unsure of what he meant and looked over at Kaede with a helpless look.
“Perhaps thee have not marked ye mate because she is not ready,” Kaede was trying to get Sesshoumaru to revert back to his old self.
Growling, his beast began to lunge at Kaede, prepared to rip her throat out for suggesting that his mate didn’t want him. He was stopped by a gentle tug on his forearm by the young miko, who was looking at him worried.
Sesshoumaru recoiled, pulling her back into his arms and tried to soothe her with his cat-like purrs. He did not like to see her distressed.
Kagome was still unsure of what to do, but she knew that Sesshoumaru’s anger was so easily triggered that she had to keep him calm. And for some reason, he seemed to think she was his mate and he also seemed to like holding her. So, with shaking hands, she wrapped her arms around his torso in an attempt to show him that she was accepting his feelings.
The beast seemed to relax and once more buried his nose into her neck, enjoying her enticing scent. He held her close to him and willed himself to change, feeling that there was no longer a threat to his “mate”.
Sesshoumaru’s claws seemed to become slightly shorter, his aura less overwhelming, and his fangs grew shorter as he reverted back to his old self. Opening his eyes, which were now their usual gold color, he drew back quickly from the miko. Immediately feeling a tug at something like… His heart? Her warmth still lingered and it felt as if part of him had been taken. It was only until she was no longer in his arms that he no longer felt complete.
Knowing full well what happened between his beast and the two priestesses, he looked towards the elder, “Why did you summon my prisoner?” Sesshoumaru’s voice was back to normal, which was like ice. His quick name-change from “mate” to “prisoner” stung, which just further confused Kagome.
“She must learn the ways of the miko’s as her ancestors were taught,” Kaede finally would start to reason with his logical half.
“She is under a Monk’s tutelage,” Sesshoumaru’s stoic mask showed no emotion. Whatever anger he had before seemed to be completely gone.
“He is not knowledgeable of the miko ways.”
“His knowledge will suffice.”
Kaede eyed the demon lord carefully. It was irony that he felt it was necessary to train the young miko, but would not give her proper teachings. He knew that he had to have just felt possessive over her because his beast saw her as his mate. “If ye are teaching her shan’t it be the best?”
Sesshoumaru stood there, thinking about his options before answering, “If this Sesshoumaru were to agree to this ‘mentoring’, it will be supervised. Any misguidance will be dealt with accordingly,” Sesshoumaru stared directly at the older miko.
Nodding, Kaede agreed, “This is my deed and I must pass down the knowledge of our ancestors. I cannot move onto the next life until it has been done.”
Sesshoumaru turned and began to walk away as she finished her sentence, halting for a moment, he looked over his shoulder at Kagome. Waiting.
Kagome looked back to Kaede with a hopeful look in her eyes as she started to walk towards Sesshoumaru.
“Goodbye for now, child, “Kaede waved as the door shut as Kagome walked out.
Kagome looked forward, noticing that Sesshoumaru was still looking at her with a certain gaze. She couldn’t place what it was. He quickly looked forward and continued walking, with Kagome following suit.
Right as they reached Jaken and Ah-Un, Sesshoumaru spoke, “Miko, you will now reside in my chambers.”
Kagome stilled. Her eyes wide and her mouth gaped as she fumbled to find words, “W-wha-Wait, what?”
Sesshoumaru wrapped his arm around her waist and lifted her onto Ah-Un’s back before leaving down a different hallway.
“Do not lose her this time, Jaken,” he spoke as he continued walking away.
“YES M’LORD,” Jaken’s shrill voice replied as he saluted his Lord.
I’m staying with him now?!
Jaken turned back to Ah-Un and jumped onto his back, taking the reigns and leading them back into the main part of the mansion. “You should know better than to go off running around, who knows what Lord Sesshoumaru is going to do now! I would not be surprised if he were to have your entrails for dinner tonight! My Lord is not a merciful Lord, he once had to battle this great demon by the name of…” Jaken started to go off in tangents and Kagome found herself less than interested.
His mate? And he wants me to stay in his room?! Kagome inwardly blushed and clutched the front of her shirt as she could only think what that would mean.
Shaking her head, she tried to think of other things. Like all of the things that Kaede had told her, and how she was now going to be learning how to actually be a priestess. Excitement started to bubble inside of her at the mere thought of having another one of her kind being able to guide her in the right direction. She had felt so alone in all of this. Maybe now she would not feel so worthless.
“-ripped his head right off. ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME, HUMAN?” Jaken screeched at her as he noticed her disinterest.
“Huh?” Kagome couldn’t care in the least.
“I WILL HAVE YOU KNOW THAT OUR LORD IS RANKED ONE OF THE HIGHEST- AAAAAAAAAHHHHH!” Ah-Un came to an abrupt halt, causing Jaken to go over Ah-Un’s head and splatted against a wall.
Kagome covered her mouth, trying to hold back her laughter, “I guess someone was getting bored with it too,” Kagome pet Ah-Un as she jumped off. Ah-Un in turn pressed his nose into her hand, seeming to agree.
Smiling, Kagome looked at the two large doors that lay ahead of them. So this is it. She swallowed hard as she made her way forward. I’ll be staying here from now on…
Trying to gain her wits, she took a deep breath and gently knocked on the door. Immediately a maid opened the door and greeted her kindly, “Come in Miss. We’ve been expecting you.” Word sure gets around here fast.
Kagome pulled herself together and took a step forward, walking into the room with the maid. The room was even more glorious than her own. She remembered the first time she walked into a bedroom with Sesshoumaru in it, and this was most definitely not it. This was like a house made for one.
“Miss? You will be staying here,” the maid directed towards a separate room just down a small hallway from the entry room. Kagome started to follow her, all while taking in the vast room before her.
The first room was a living room with a personal bar to mix yourself drinks. There was a pool table as well. This kind of made Kagome giggle, the thought of Sesshoumaru playing pool didn’t seem realistic. Probably was just for decoration. There was also some nice-looking leather sofas around a fireplace, which also had a large holographic TV on the coffee table between the sofas.
She followed the maid and made it to what was now considered “her” room. There was a very large canopy bed with black, gold, and white sheets. It had fancy, Japanese-oriented room dividers next to the bed in the corner of the wall. Supposedly a changing area if needed. There were more murals along the ceilings that were just as amazing as the others. There was a very large balcony that she could walk out onto, which she inwardly thanked Sesshoumaru for.
“If you need anything, just press this button and someone will come immediately,” the maid showed her a button on a remote that was on her bed-stand. The maid bowed then took her leave.
Kagome was unsure of why the maid bowed to her, but tried not to think anything of it. She had a stressful day and wanted nothing more than to curl up on her new bed and take a nap. But, before she did that…
Kagome eagerly walked over to the window-like doors that lead to the balcony. She opened them both, enjoying the night’s breeze wash over her form. She didn’t care that it was cold, she just needed to feel that there was still life outside of these walls.
She decided to leave one of the doors open so she could enjoy her sleep knowing that she was no longer as caged as she was. She jumped back onto her bed and kicked off her shoes before getting under the covers. Sighing contentedly, she drifted off into a deep sleep.
OKAY! I THINK I WROTE A LOT….. So, please let me know what you think! I feel evil for some reason.
