Explosive Study Dates
“Fucking bastard!” Kagura fumed as she read her email. She was certain Mr. Perfection, Sesshomaru Takahashi,
made a mistake in sending her that email.
It was obvious that the company information and the personal note
attached to the bottom were meant only for Inu Yasha’s eyes, but she had read
it all. And, she was fuming. “Out of all the fucking women
in Tokyo!” She threw open the
right drawer to her elegant desk and bi-passed all the pencils, pens and art
supplies to grab a set of darts. She
turned to the dartboard with the picture of the man that had disturbed her
morning coffee. She began throwing the
darts without aiming, and succeeded in hitting him precisely in the nose.
“Oh, if only I had him in front of me…” The sudden thought calmed the young executive
slightly. He was only in the building
next door, and if that email had been sent out, then he must be in. Didn’t he want to see the new drawing early
this morning in order to decide if he was going to buy her designs.
“Nara,
I’ll be at Sesshomaru’s if I’m needed.”
She yelled at her secretary on her way out, art portfolio in hand. As she entered the elevator, she began to
think her strategy. She would walk up to
him and tell him where his confidential email had gone to. “I know everything, Sesshomaru, and you can
forget it! It’s not going to happen in
this life time! I hope you enjoy your
slut, as well!”
She liked the idea until she entered the formal lobby of
the main Takahashi
Corporate Building. Acting like a lunatic would only make her
lose face. No, she should go in, show the
pictures and make a sarcastic remark that said everything. She would love the look on his face when he
realized what she knew. But the plan
didn’t seem right, as the security guard escorted her to the private express
elevator. She should pay him back with
the same coin. She thought of the email
again, and what it said:
“Inu Yasha, you are right; Kaze Designs is booming. Now is the time to take a strong hold. Sale
the little stock we have, and when the price drops, buy as much of it as we
can. By this time next week, I want to
have a strong hold on the company. I
will reject Kagura’s drawings for the new building to help devaluate the
stock. By the way, thanks for Yura. She was everything you promised. Sesshomaru.”
She wasn’t sure what upset her the most: Sesshomaru trying
to buy out her business from underneath her, or him enjoying the kind of
pleasures Yura could have provided. No,
as the elevator reached the top floor, Kagura knew what she must do. She would let him reject the drawings, and
the minute he put the stock for sale, she would buy it. Normally, she would talk to the other major
stock holders to help her out, but this time, she wanted to make sure that her
business remained hers. She owned 51
percent of the stock, but she knew Sesshomaru would use the rest of his stock
to force his ideas on her company. He
already did that by being her primary client, well as the leader of the
Takahashi Corporation. After all, the
last six buildings she and her staff had designed for him had been new
corporate headquarters for different countries around the world. In fact, the drawings she was bringing him
today were for the new building they were constructing in Madrid.
With the business side of the situation resolved, only the
Yura situation remained. And, as far as
she was concerned, the situation with Yura only served as proof that he had
slept with her sister six years ago. If
he wanted that slut, let him have her.
She was sure he wasn’t stupid enough to marry the girl. Besides, Rin would never go for the likes of
her, and, no matter how powerful and menacing the older Takahashi brother was,
he would always fall for his daughter’s puppy eyes.
She smiled as Jaken buzzed her in. She was surprised to find him logging on to
his computer. Hadn’t he sent that email
hours ago? He must have done that from
home. Myoga was wrong: there was no
saving Sesshomaru Takahashi from his addiction to work.
“You’re early. I
wasn’t expecting you until late this afternoon.”
“Why wait? Besides,
this way if you want changes, I can have them to you by the end of business
today.” She smiled charmingly.
“That is surprisingly efficient and thoughtful of
you.” Sesshomaru replied suspiciously.
“No, I’m just a woman who wants her business to remain in
the black. Besides, the sooner I end
with this project, the sooner I can begin on the next.”
“Oh, you have a new project?”
“I have three new projects lined up. Public buildings and such…you know, trying to
keep the politicians happy.” She smiled
as she saw the flash of interest in client’s eyes.
“I would hate to make you postpone those other projects,
but these designs look too European.” He
said as he flipped through the drawings.
“Well, the building is being constructed in Madrid. This way it won’t clash with the already
existing towers.”
“I want my new offices to stand out from the crowd. I want them to scream Japan!” He finished.
She smiled taking back her drawing and said, “I’ll see what
I can do, but you know that would only make you seem like a pompous ass, which
you are.” She finished the sentence as
an afterthought as she exited the room.
She pooled out her cell phone and dialed her secretary. “Nara,
go on-line and start buying company stock…yes, right now…yes, I know what I’m
saying.”
.
.
.
“Guess who called me this morning!” Kagome asked as she burst into the office she
shared with Sango. She didn’t miss the
guilty look on her friends’ faces, or how they seem to jump away from each
other when she burst through the door.
“Did I interrupt something?”
“No. What could you
have possibly interrupted?” Sango asked
nervously. Kagome gave her a hard look,
but shrugged. If her friend wanted to
share what was wrong, she would do it when the time was right.
“Well, then you will love to find out who called me early
this morning to go have breakfast with him.”
Kagome began again.
“Inu Yasha…this means good gossip. If he had to call this morning that means you
didn’t make up last night.” Miroku
declared as he took a comfortable seat on Sango’s desk.
“No silly. It’s
better than gossip.”
“Kagome, darling,” Miroku began giving her a serious look,
“there is nothing better than gossip…except, maybe sex.”
“How about a break in the Moushi case
that can save us months of research and keep us out of the courtroom?”
“That sounds better than gossip…we are talking facts
here!” Sango replied. Miroku just shrugged in agreement. “Who called?”
“The private investigator that we hired
to find out who the biological mother is.”
“I still can’t believe she black mailed an orphanage when
she had given them false information to begin with!” Miroku whined.
“Probably because she knew someone would find her, and we
did.” Kagome beamed as the other two
awaited the big news. “You won’t believe
this, but she is related to the politician who is backing Amada Hayes.”
“What? Is she his
sister? Mother? Cousin?” Miroku began.
“Better, she’s his wife!”
Kagome smiled as her friends digested the information.
“Time to play a little dirty.” Sango smiled as she dialed a familiar
number. “Yes, this is Sango Kizu from
Houshi and Son; I would like to arrange a private meeting with the Senator as
soon as possible. I believe we can come
to an agreement that will benefit all parties, just in
time for elections next week…This afternoon would be perfect.”
.
.
.
“Sesshomaru, I must go on record in saying that I disagree
with this course of action.” Inu Yasha
complained from his seat across his brother’s desk. “When Kagura realizes what you are doing to
her, she is going to be pissed. Wow, her
stock has gone up.” Inu Yasha added as
he typed into his laptop. “Selling it
will give you a nice little profit, but you are going to lose her more and
more.”
“Since when are you so eloquent about
relationships?”
“I’m just stating the obvious. If Kagome got so mad because she
misinterpreted something I said, how is Kagura going to get when she realizes
she can’t misinterpret what you are doing to her company.”
“I once told you, the relationship between Kagura and me is
strictly business. I intend to insure
that I don’t lose that one, as well.”
“You are going to lose the little trust she has given
you. Don’t you want her back?”
“She has moved on…she is seeing Myoga.”
Inu Yasha burst out laughing. “That old jiiji? Kagura
has better taste than that!”
“She has said it many times; she wants to marry for money
and comfort.”
“Bull! Kagura is
worth just as much as Myoga. Both their
business are racking up the same amount of net profit a quarter. She doesn’t need him. Frankly, she doesn’t need any man to buy her
anything. She just uses that as an
excuse not to get sentimentally attached.”
“That’s not what it looked like last night.” Inu Yasha raised his eyes to meet his
brother’s with a wry smile on his face.
“You’re jealous!”
“I’m not! To each his own, I always say!”
“You are! You are
jealous of a flea!” Inu Yasha laughed to
his heart’s content as his brother growled.
“Don’t feel so bad. I’m sure Yura
made her feel uneasy as well.”
“About that woman…couldn’t you find someone any bit more
annoying?” The sarcasm dripped from his
words. Inu Yasha smiled finally
understanding the email.
“But she was an easy lay.”
“Didn’t bother. I rather not know where she’s been, much less touch her after that.” Inu Yasha smiled before he returned to his
laptop.
“So, are you sure about selling the stock?”
“Do it.” Inu Yasha
clicked away. The stocked dropped in
value a few minutes afterwards.
Sesshomaru was right. Once the
public heard that Kaze Design’s main client was selling his stock, they
followed. “Start buying when the stock
reaches half-price or the price settles.”
Sesshomaru ordered, as he noticed his private line begin to ring. “What is it Jaken?”
“I’m sorry to disturb you sir, but that stock you wanted to
sell…”
“Yes?”
“Sesshomaru, the price is rising again! Someone is buying it fast!” Inu Yasha warned.
“Then buy!”
Sesshomaru growled.
“Lord Sesshomaru?”
The toad whimpered.
“Who’s buying it?”
“Kagura Kaze, sir.”
“It’s all gone! From
your initial 20 percent of the company, I was able to recover one
percent.” Inu Yasha informed.
“Sir,” Jaken began again.
“Kagura is on line three; she wishes to talk to you.”
“Put her through.”
“Sesshomaru?” A very happy Kagura asked.
“Yes?”
“Thank you for that little stunt you pulled. I would never have obtained 88 percent of my
company otherwise, and at such competitive prices. You’re a doll!” She giggled and hung up.
“How did she know?”
Sesshomaru growled.
“I don’t know…maybe she was waiting to buy back some stock
and got lucky.” Inu Yasha answered. His brother’s blood red eyes told him that
his hanyou blood wouldn’t be enough to help him recover from the wounds the
older youkai would inflict if Inu Yasha accidentally made him angrier. As Sesshomaru’s cell phone began to ring, he
sighed in relief. The Power Puff Girl
theme song indicated the call was from Rin.
“Yes, I’m busy…yes, I’m stressed. What did you do today at school? You don’t say.” Sesshomaru smiled. “That’s wonderful. We’ll talk more when we get home.” A composed Sesshomaru turned to Inu Yasha and
said, “You will never guess what Rin did in school today.”
.
.
.
“Are you ready for that meeting with the Senator and his
wife?” Miroku asked as he surrendered
his cup of coffee to Sango.
“Just about…Kagome is getting the rest of the
paperwork. Miroku, we have to tell
her. I can’t go on without letting our
best friend know.”
“I want to tell her too, but my father was very
strict. No one from the company is to
know for another month, and that includes Kagome.”
“I don’t understand all the secrecy!” Sango complained as she stepped into her
office.
“He’s trying to contain all possible rumors. He doesn’t want word of our relationship to
leak until we are a stable couple.”
“But Kagome wouldn’t spread any rumors. She is trustworthy and our friend. She trusts us enough to tell us all about Inu
Yasha; we should trust her with our secret.”
“It’s only four more weeks.” Miroku pleaded as he inwardly cursed, “If my
father doesn’t promote her soon, I’m going to lose my girlfriend and best
friend.”
“Speaking of Kagome and Inu Yasha, I need you to talk to
her.” Sango quickly changed the subject
when she saw one of the receptionists walking by her door. They would have closed it, but that would
only cause the dreadful rumors they were avoiding.
“What about?”
“I know she doesn’t confide much about her sex life with
you, but I need you to convince her to talk to Inu Yasha.”
“Is she thinking about having sex with him? Last time I talked to her, she said she
wasn’t ready…that was only a few days ago.”
“No, it’s about trust.”
“You lost me.”
Miroku took his usual seat on Sango’s desk as he unbuttoned his favorite
black suit jacket.
“Kagome has a fear of intimacy.”
“We all know that.”
“Not Inu Yasha. She
hasn’t confided key elements of her relationship with Hojo, and if he is
serious about starting a real relationship with her, he needs to know.”
“But only Kagome can tell him these things.” Miroku agreed as the said girl walked into
the office with a happy smile on her face.
“What?” She asked as
they turned to stare at her.
“Why are you so happy today? Could it have something to do with the
resolution of the Moushi case?” Sango
teased.
“Now, Sango, are you implying that me dear sweet friend
here is happy that a major case is being concluded allowing her to be free next
weekend, as is company policy, so she can go on a weekend gate-a-way with her
man?” Miroku chimed in.
“Yes, I think I am.”
“Enough you two!” Kagome laughed. “I am only happy because this is will be the
last week of all-nighters for a while, and with my bar exam tomorrow, it’s just
in the nick of time.”
“I don’t know.”
“Inu Yasha might have some work for you.” Sango and Miroku teased.
“You are a pair!”
Kagome complained.
“What is that supposed to mean?” Sango asked defensively.
“The _expression? You two are a pair of jokesters? You know…that you are two of a kind. Never mind!
That’s what I get for trying out a new _expression. Jeez, don’t take it so personal.” Kagome complained when she saw Sango’s face
flushed.
“Miss Kizu, Senator Kawasaki and his wife are in conference
room three.” A receptionist alerted on
the intercom.
“Time to earn your pay, Ladies!” Miroku ushered the young women out of the
room.
.
.
.
Kagura cursed when her phone rang. She had been concentrating so hard on her
current design that the ring had startled her, causing her to blemish her hard
work. “Damn, Nara
must be at lunch!” She complained as she
lifted the receiver. “Kaze Designs,
Kagura Kaze speaking; how may I help you?”
“You can start by telling me how you found out about my
brother’s little stunt. It’s been
killing me on how you got privy to confidential information.”
“Like always, you go straight to the point, Inu Yasha. Just the way I like you.”
“Keh.”
“Relax, your brother accidentally told me.”
“How? When?
The way he was fuming, I don’t even think he realizes it.”
“He accidentally replied all in that little email he sent
you this morning.”
“You know that was insider information.”
“Like what he was doing was entirely ethical!”
“Nope, but this has caused a commotion in the office…wait,
did you read the entire email?”
“Yes. I’m glad he
had fun with Yura.” Kagura answered
sarcastically.
“You don’t understand…that was a sarcastic remark. He had a horrible time. He didn’t even get laid!”
“Inu Yasha, I know Yura quite well. There is no way in hell she would pass the
chance to fuck Sesshomaru Takahashi, even if it is just for the nudge in her
belt!” Kagura declared.
“You’re really jealous?”
Inu Yasha’s voice was thick with surprise. He knew Kagura thought herself better than
Yura.
“No, I’m just pissed the asshole of your brother insists on
dating women close to me! I could care
less who he sleeps with!”
“Keh!” Inu Yasha smirked as he hung up the
phone. “This is perfect.”
.
.
.
Sango and Kagome sat confidently in front of Senator
Kawasaki and his lovely wife. She had
acted like the perfect airhead trophy wife during the introductions, but Kagome
knew better. She had done a thorough
investigation on the woman, and, except for backing Amanda Hayes, the Senator’s
moves were determined by his wife, a woman known for her love of pink and
expensive clothes. The couple sat
equally smug in front of the two lawyers as Mrs. Kawasaki removed her expensive
fuschia hat.
“I still don’t understand why you needed my wife to come,
or why no one else could be present.”
The Senator began. “Shouldn’t my
lawyers be here? I don’t want to fall
into one of your traps, Miss Kizu. You
have quite the reputation in City Hall.”
“As far as I know, you yourself are a lawyer, Senator. As for my reputation, it is well earned, and
that is why I am giving you the opportunity to save some face publicly.”
“Oh?”
“As Amanda Hayes’ representative, I assume you are here
solely thinking of her.”
“Of course.”
“We have discovered, through our independent means the true
identity of her mother.”
“And you are willing to confer the information as long as
we leave the Moushi House alone.” The
Senator interrupted. “No, elections are
next week. I need the fall of Moushi
House in order to secure a victory.”
“If you don’t back away from Moushi House you will lose the
election.” Kagome warned.
“And probably face some serious charges for
blackmail.” Sango added.
“What are you two rambling about?”
“Why don’t you ask your wife, Senator?” Sango replied, never losing the smirk on her
face.
“What are you implying?”
The Senator’s wife asked, color slowly draining from her face.
“I’m not implying anything.
I am stating the facts.” Sango
replied. “When Amanda Hayes’ parental
search became a public matter, Moushi House was threatened to have its federal
funding cut if the true identity of the mother was revealed. Considering that the information given was
completely false, the only person who could have the power to follow through
with such a threat and suffer the consequences of such allegations would be a
politician.”
“We knew Amanda Hayes’ mother wasn’t thoroughly educated at
the time, but came from a good family. We
made the assumption that the mother must have married a politician.” Kagome continued. “At the time of Amada Hayes birth and
acceptance to Moushi House, you were out of the social scene, Mrs. Kawasaki,
why?”
“Around that time, I was at a finishing school in Paris.” She quickly answered.
“That’s lie. We
checked with immigration, you have never left the country, ma’am.” Kagome retorted. “We have found medical records…”
“Those are confidential.”
Mrs. Kawasaki spat.
“Do you think the media cares about that? And, in a case like this, a judge could be
persuaded to open twenty year old files.
And, if not, the public will come to their own conclusions on why you
are afraid to have it known you were hospitalized at the age of seventeen for
four months.” Sango added.
“I was depressed, and we all know that psychiatric help
isn’t viewed with much sympathy in this country. That kind of information could harm my
husband’s career.”
“True, but according to your records, you became depressed
during your second month…A common condition today called post partum
depression.” Sango added. “In those days, the doctor in charge simply
said your strange emotional state was due to a combination of girly hysterics
and your irregular menstrual cycle.
Separating you from your child was the best course of action.”
“You can’t prove that in a court of law!” The Senator protested.
“We only have to prove it in the media to make sure you
don’t get re-elected.” Sango smirked.
“How much do you want?”
He asked after a short pause.
“Excuse me?” Sango
replied with a raised eyebrow.
“To forget what you found out and to tell Moushi House
there is nothing you could do, how much will it cost me?”
“Are you bribing me?”
Sango’s left eye twitched in anger.
“Just monetarily suggesting other
options.” Mrs. Kawasaki tried to
smooth over. Kagome backed away slightly
to not get caught in Sango’s direct line of fire.
“There is no amount of money that can buy my integrity or
moral standards. Unlike you, I have a
conscience and pride in my work, and I will never allow anyone deteriorate that
pride. You can take your money and shove
it where the sun doesn’t shine! As for
what you are going to do, you are going to start by giving a public apology to
Moushi House for the inconvenience you have caused them, inform Amanda Hayes of
who her mother is, and you should be grateful I’m not asking you to drop from
the race.”
“You can’t do that, you little bitch!” The Senator screamed. Kagome covered her ears and waited for the
fireworks to explode.
.
.
.
“Honestly Sango, did you need to make him cry?” Kagome asked as they returned to their
office.
“I went easy on him.”
Sango protested.
“It’s just knowing that he is a
grown man, a senator I voted for, and an asshole, seeing him cry is
disturbing.”
“Well, he lost my vote!
How dare he bribe me? Who does he
think he is?”
“He’s probably never had anyone turn him down before.”
“I’m beginning to wonder if he really was out of the loop
all this time, about who the real mother was.”
Sango stated as she took her seat.
“He didn’t seem surprised when we told him. He didn’t ask if it was true! I think you’re right.”
“Knowing that the information was false, they could prolong
the investigation long enough for him to win re-election.”
“The bastard would have gotten away with it since the name
given as the mother was of a real woman that died two years ago.”
“Wait, if the name was of a real person, how did you know
it was a fake?”
“She died childless.
The detective spoke with her husband and found out she had a medical
condition she was born with that made her sterile. Then he discovered that at the time Amanda
Hayes was born, she had been working for Mrs. Kawasaki’s family. He put two and two together, and got a cover
up.”
“He’s good…where did we get him again.”
“Flea Detectives…It’s an agency Inu Yasha recommended. His brother uses them all the time. Myoga, the owner, was the one that did all
the leg work for this case.”
“Oh?”
“He’s very good friends with the Takahashi’s, and he
considered this case a personal favor to the family.” Kagome explained.
“Wow, you are moving up in the world.”
“Ha-ha, very funny.”
Kagome noticed the time. “I got
to go Sango. I want to get some rest
before I take the bar tomorrow.”
“Relax, after how you worked this case, you will do fine.”
“Still, I will feel better if I refresh my memory a bit.”
“You’ve been refreshing your memory ever since you
graduated law school.” Sango complained
as Kagome put on her coat.
“Oh, I told my jii-san I was going to be studying at your
house; you don’t mind covering, do you?”
“No, but where are you going to be?”
“Inu Yasha’s. His house is much closer to the testing
center, so I will be able to get half-an-hour more of sleep.” Kagome explained as she stepped through the
door. Sango smiled and thought,
“She’ll be lucky to get any sleep tonight!”
.
.
.
“I hate the quadratic formula!” Rin complained.
“It’s going to be on the test, so you need to learn
it.” Her boyfriend teased.
“How am I ever going to use it in life?”
“You’ll be surprise!”
“Realistically?” Rin pouted as she leaned back in one of the
comfortable chairs of his bright kitchen.
“Twenty years from now, when your daughter is complaining
she doesn’t get it, you’ll be glad you can explain it to her.”
“Couldn’t I just get her father to explain it?” She smirked as he leaned in for a quick kiss.
“No.” The sudden
foreign voice caused the two to jump back.
“Women are not fulfilling their full potential in math and science. We need to encourage future generations not
to be frighten of quadratic formulas.”
“Nee-chan! We were just…”
“Taking a study break.” His sister smiled as she entered the kitchen
and smiled at Rin. “I was young,
too.” The young woman unbuttoned her
light blue business jacket as she walked to the refrigerator. “Be careful not to be caught by
jii-chan.” She warned as she got herself
a glass of orange juice. She smiled at
the young couple and went to change. It
wasn’t long before she heard the doorbell. She let her brother answer the door
as she grabbed her old notebooks and a few textbooks, stuffed them into an
oversize yellow bag that she had owned since Middle school and left the
room. Dressed in her favorite blue
sweater and jeans, she was ready for an intense study session.
“Inu Yasha.” She gave him a quick kiss as he met her by
the front door. “Souta?” She asked when she noticed her brother wasn’t
with him.
“Said he had a guest to attend to.”
“Oh, that would be his girlfriend. He’s helping her study for her math test
tomorrow.”
“I see study dates are a favorite of the family.” He teased.
“Can I go embarrass him?”
“You can, but you may not.”
“You’re so mean.” He
grumbled as he stole another kiss.
“Bye guys!” Kagome
yelled over her shoulder.
“Bye!” The two
yelled back. Inu Yasha stopped in his
tracks as his ears slowly turned towards the kitchen. He then began to sniff suspiciously. It couldn’t be. The world wasn’t that small, was it?
“Inu Yasha?” Kagome asked as she noticed her boyfriend
head toward the kitchen.
“Rin?” He asked from the entrance to the Higurashi
Kitchen.
“Uncle Inu! Fancy meeting you here!” The girl laughed nervously. “Are you going to tell my dad?”
Kagome walked up behind him. “Wait, your Rin, is our Rin?” She started to laugh loudly. “You’re a dead man walking, bro.”
“Thanks!” Souta
grumbled.
“Uncle Inu?”
“I’m kind of obliged to tell your dad, Rin. He would skin me alive if he found out that I
knew and didn’t tell him.” Inu Yasha
grumbled. It was times like this he
wished his ears and nose weren’t so refined.
“I understand. You
tell my dad everything.” She began
sweetly, too sweetly. “Besides, being a
Sailor M…”
“But, I can give you two weeks to tell him yourself.” Inu Yasha quickly interrupted.
“Sailor? Sailor what?” Kagome asked, realizing the move.
“Nothing. We should go, or you won’t get any studying
done.” He then turned to Rin, “Two
weeks!”
“Thank you Uncle Inu!”
“What was all that about?”
Souta asked as soon as Inu Yasha was out of the house.
“Uncle Inu has the biggest Sailor Moon collection in all of
Tokyo. A famous magazine wanted to photograph it,
but he wouldn’t let them.” Rin explained
as they turned to the math homework.
“Hey Rin, when you said your father would do all those
horrible things to me, you were exaggerating, weren’t you?”
“We’ll soon find out.”
She shrugged as Souta went pale.
.
‘’ ‘’ ‘’ ‘’ ‘’
.
“Kagura, did you know Rin had a boyfriend?” Inu Yasha barked into his cell phone the
minute the other youkai picked up the receiver.
“Hello to you too, Inu Yasha. Yes, I knew.
They have been dating for about a month.
I’m supposed to meet him next week.”
Kagura answered airily as Axel worked her tense back. For some strange reason, she was overly
stressed today.
“And when were you going to tell me?”
“I was giving her the chance to tell you herself. She was supposed to tell her father by the
end of the week. Hold on, I have another
call.”
Inu Yasha cursed as he took a red light.
“You are going to get us killed!” Kagome warned.
“I know what I’m doing!
How long have you known?”
“That they were dating?
Since the first day…I just didn’t know she was your niece.”
“What a huge coincidence!”
He said sarcastically. “How did
they meet? Where have they been
going? How did my brother miss it?”
“Those aren’t questions for me to answer. Inu Yasha, will your brother really hurt
Souta?”
“Keh, I’ll protect the brat, as long as he doesn’t hurt
Rin.”
“Poor Souta!” She sighed.
“First time he is really interested in a girl, and she has to be related
to the most territorial and possessive youkai in town.”
“Keh.” Inu Yasha turned his attention back to his
phone ask he heard Kagura’s voice. “Tonight? Can’t she
wait until tomorrow? She’s already
waited a month!”
“She has a bad feeling that her father will find out. Something about running into you was a bad
omen.”
“She’s dating my girlfriend’s brother and hanging in their
house, of course I’m going to bump into them.”
Inu Yasha growled.
“You know Rin is as impulsive as you.”
“I can’t be there tonight.
I’m helping Kagome study for the bar.
Can you handle it by yourself?”
“I’ll have to.”
Inu Yasha hung up and turned to his girlfriend. “In the slim chance my brother gets to Souta
before I do, does he have good heath insurance?” The look of fear she gave him made him regret
his words.
.

.
“My parents loved you.”
Sango smiled as Miroku drove her home.
“Really, I got the impression your father wasn’t too happy
with me.”
“No, if he didn’t like you he would have been mean and
menacing. Last night he was on his best
behavior.
“I hate to see his worst.”
Miroku mumbled.
“Did you say something, sweetheart?”
“No…Don’t forget, tomorrow we are eating with my
folks. They are a bit eccentric, but
nice.”
“I’m a little nervous…I’ve never spoken to your father
about anything other than business.”
“Just promise me you two won’t go into a discussion about
law. When the two of you go into your
lawyer rants, well, I end up sitting between two yelling banshees!” Miroku protested.
“If he doesn’t bring it up, you know I won’t.”
“Good. Hopefully he
will be satisfied with my report on the Moushi Case not to make it tomorrow’s
dinner conversation.”
“Wouldn’t your mother stop him?”
“She was a lawyer too…she was the daughter of his best
competitor. And, you know how my dad is
about competition: he ended up with the daughter, the house, and the business.”
“Did you get to talk to Kagome?”
“She ran out the door, but I did get talk to her on the way
down the elevator. I can’t assure you
she will listen to me, but at least we’ve tried.”
“I hope everything goes well for those two. They are good for each other…Speaking of
which, if Higurashi-sama calls tonight, you’re over to help Kagome study.”
“I thought she was studying with Inu Yasha.”
“She is.”
“Ohhh!” Miroku smirked. “She isn’t going home tonight.”

Sesshomaru knew something was wrong when he saw both Rin
and Kagura walk quietly into his home office.
Kagura was obviously tense, though she had a strong control of her
emotions as she held a fan tightly in her right hand. Who was she expecting to fight? His daughter, though she looked relaxed,
stunk of fear and was walking half a step behind the wind youkai. This wasn’t good.
“Yes?” He asked as
he raised a questioning eyebrow at them.
“How was your day at work daddy?”
“Why don’t you ask Kagura?”
“Now, Sesshomaru, you can’t still be mad that I outsmarted
you in your little game, can you?”
Kagura smiled as she walked up to his desk and leaned against the edge
Rin usually sat. She had worn a Latin
style black skirt with a slit over the right knee that showed off her legs on
purpose. If he was distracted looking at
her legs, he wouldn’t notice Kagura blocking his attack route.
“It wasn’t a game.
It was an investment technique.”
He clarified.
“Whatever. I’m sure
you made a profit from the sales.”
“Yes, but my intention wasn’t to give up my hold on your
company.”
“You still have one percent, which is more than I would
like you to have.” She complained as Rin
cleared her throat.
“If you two need to talk business…I can come back later.”
“Freeze.” Sesshomaru stopped her.
“You know you come before business, sweetheart.” Kagura smoothed over.
“Is there something wrong?”
Sesshomaru asked.
“No, the opposite…something is quite right…remember I told
you I liked a boy.”
“Yes, but he doesn’t go to your high school, so you didn’t
think you would see him often enough.”
“Well, he likes me back.”
Sesshomaru took a deep breath but remained calm.
“And you were afraid I was going to say no and forbid you
from dating him. I’ve been preparing
myself for this day, Rin, but I think you’re too young to date. If he really likes you, he will wait until
your sixteenth birthday.” Kagura eyed
him worriedly. She knew his youki was
unstable. She didn’t get a chance to
warn Rin before the words left her mouth.
“Well, you see, we’ve been dating already for a month.”
“What?” Sesshomaru
stood up so fast his leather chair fell back.
Kagura used her body to shield Rin from Sesshomaru’s youki.
Any normal person would have remained quiet, but Rin wasn’t
normal. She was fifteen and suffering
from the ‘Romeo and Juliet’ syndrome.
She thought love would conquer all, so she told her father exactly how
she felt. “We like each other, and he’s
really nice, and uncle Inu approves!
Besides, it’s not like we’re having sex or anything of the sort!” Kagura began to hyperventilate as
Sesshomaru’s youki began to push hers back.
“I’ll kill him!”
Sesshomaru declared in a growl Rin could not understand.
“Rin, leave your father and me alone. I’ll talk to you before I leave.” Rin suddenly became afraid of the power her
father was radiating and listened to the wind youkai. Kagura wanted to use her fan to push
Sesshomaru back, but he was too close, so, she used her body instead. She pushed him back with all her might and
was shocked when instead of hitting the wall, they hit the ground. She looked up to realize that behind the
tapestries that adorned the back wall of Sesshomaru’s office, there was a
library: a large vacant room filled with old scrolls.
“Woman, must you be so rough?” Sesshomaru growled, regaining some control on
his anger. Kagura looked down realizing
their position on the ground. This gave
her an idea on how to distract him from his rage.
“I thought you liked it rough?” She smirked the way Inu Yasha had taught her
before deliberately taking her time in standing up. Sesshomaru growled lightly at the suggestive
comment, knowing she couldn’t mean it.
She offered him her hand to stand up, and even though he was very
tempted to pull her down on him again in order to teach her a lesson about
flirting with the wrong man, he knew the business with Rin was more important.
“How long have you known?”
He asked as he led her back to the office.
“A few days.”
“Inu Yasha?”
“Today, he bumped into them on his way to meet Kagome.”
“Why didn’t anyone tell me?” Sesshomaru growled as he banged his desk.
“We wanted to give Rin the opportunity to tell you
herself. Had we known she was going to
blurt it out like that, we would have told you ourselves, or done a better job
of coaching her.” Kagura grumbled to
herself as she picked up Sesshomaru’s chair and offered it to him to sit
on. He refused.
“Who is this boy?
How does he dare touch my Rin?”
“First of all, relationships at her age are different than
ours. They probably haven’t done much
more than kiss.” Sesshomaru turned to
face her with his eyes glowing red. “I
mean haven’t even kissed.” She remained
behind him so she could begin to rub his shoulders. He was tenser than the day at the park, but
she had patience and a double session with Axel on her team. “Besides, he is a good respectable boy…you
know his family.”
“I’ll kill them all.”
“If you do, your brother will never forgive you.”
“And why is that?”
“Rin is dating Souta Higurashi, Kagome’s younger brother.”
“Another Higurashi? What is Keiji doing?”
“You can’t blame everything on Keiji, Sesshomaru. Isn’t it bad enough you blamed what happened
with us on him?” She asked bitterly
“That was his fault.
If he hadn’t been trying to do his matchmaker thing, we would never have
had that misunderstanding.” He
complained as he began to feel the warmness of Kagura’s massage numb his tight
muscles.
“You slept with my sister, how is that a misunderstanding?” He turned with his red eyes towards her
again.
“For the last time, I didn’t sleep with her! How can you fucking believe the words of an
insane woman before mine?” Sesshomaru
exploded. His youki had been held in
restraint for too long.
“That insane woman, as you call her, is my sister! No one comes before family!” Kagura’s eyes became darker as her youki
raised to match his.
“What was I then?
Didn’t you once call me family?”
He shot back.
“That’s why your betrayal hurt so much.” Her voice was soft, but full of regret and
venom.
“I didn’t betray you; I swear. I went to the room to meet you. The door locked behind me…nothing happened in
there, except her ripping her clothes as she had a violent temper tantrum. I swear, Kagura, I would never have hurt
you.” As he spoke, he had cornered her
against a wall, cautious not to fall through the tapestry again. His eyes were still crimson as he drank her
saturated scent in a predatory stalk. He
was so close, too close. They hadn’t been
this close in years. Sesshomaru could
feel her heart pounding against her chest.
His eyes fell on her ruby lips.
Did they still taste as sweet? He
leaned down, and before she could stop him, he captured her lips in a
passionate kiss. Stealthily, he invaded
her mouth, dominating her tongue and spiking her youki. His hands took hold of her hips to hold her
in place as he imagined where else he could easily touch. Her hands rushed to his chest, as she tried
to push him away, but his closeness had left her weak. Though passionate, the kiss was short, for
they both needed to breath.
Kagura looked frightened when they broke apart as her eyes
became glassy. Sesshomaru was
stunned. He wasn’t expecting this
reaction. “I have to go.” She choked on her words as she broke free of
his grasp. “Tell Rin…tell her I’ll talk
to her in the morning.” Kagura didn’t
dare look back as she rushed out of the room, leaving a confused Sesshomaru
tasting his lips.
“Better than I remember.”

“Kami, I knew this one five minutes ago!” Kagome complained as she finished her fifth
cup of coffee. “All these cases are
beginning to jumble together.”
“I’m not surprised.
You’ve been studying strait for five hours. You need a break.” He said as he began to rub her shoulders.
“Mmm, that feels good.”
He let his fingers travel down her back as Kagura had taught him before
kissing her neck. “That feels better.”
“I know the perfect way to help you relax and clear your
mind.”
“Inu Yasha!” She tried to sound mad, but his massage was
so intense she felt drowsy and lightheaded.
She would have agreed to wear a pink chicken outfit to work the next day
if he had asked her to.
“I’m just trying to help.”
His hot breath fell on her neck as she fell under his spell. She turned her face so she could kiss
him. He replied eagerly. The night before, they had behaved like
perfect angels. Between the argument and
the album, Kagome managed to punish him an extra day without much of her touch,
which had become a drug to him. He was
surprised to find her being more dominant in their kiss, but this also pleased
him. If she became as needy as him, she
would loosen up a bit more, letting him show her real pleasure. She quickly pushed him onto a nearby chair
and mounted his lap. His hands went
straight to her derrière as she rocked against him. He could feel her rising heat and growled
appreciatively. He wasn’t sure what he
had done to deserve this, but he was grateful for it. Maybe he should study with her more often.
Kagome’s brain was mush, only understanding primal
instincts. She knew she needed to feel
skin: his skin. She broke the kiss once to remove his red t-shirt before she
returned to worshipping his lips. She
followed to his neck as her hands slipped down his chiseled chest, admiring his
sleek form. Her hands weren’t as
hesitant or unsure as they had been in the past, now that she was gaining
confidence in there intimacy, but she felt impulsive and reckless tonight. Stress did that to her.
Inu Yasha growled appreciatively as she nipped his chin
before demanding his lips again. Though
as an inu youkai, or at least part inu youkai, he felt the need to remain in
full control of their sexual encounters, he was glad to surrender to her. She always seemed hesitant and extremely
timid except in moments of extreme passion.
These moments of total surrender were rare and far between. He had learned to savor them. Her hands dropped lower as another need began
to control her. “Is she fondling with my
belt?” Inu Yasha wondered as he began to
attack her neck, which she freely offered.
He began to bite lightly gaining a moan of pleasure and a suggestive
gyration from Kagome. His smile was cut
short when he realized, “That’s my pant button she is playing with! Is that the zipper? Where is her hand
going? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”

Wow, this story has more reviews than Through the Rose
Colored Lenses! Thank
you guys.
BTW: Some of you
were confused with Eri’s comment about Hojo and
Kagome not making too much noise when they had sex. What she meant was, when Kagome was over and
they were in the mists of foreplay, they never made too much noise. Also, it was a joke referring to how they
never did anything that would cause noise.
