"Let me go!" Kagome demanded as she tried to wiggle out of the chains. Malitzou chuckled, "I can't do that my dear Kagome. I can't let my prize go to waste" he caressed her cheeks and stared longingly at her body. Kagome grew frantic, "What do you plan to do with me?" she whispered fearfully.Malitzou chuckled, "Nothing much my dear. I will ravish you every night, make you scream my name, you will bear me a true heir to the East."
.
Present...
"Someone will find me," Kagome bluffed, "Sesshoumaru-sama comes to this place often, he'll see me." Malitzou laughed darkly, and his eyes glowed under the moonlight, "He won't find you" he purred and crept around her like a predator preparing to pounce on his prey.
"Don't you remember my Shadow barrier?" He smirked at Kagome's shocked face, "That's right my dear, my barrier's undetectable." Malitzou sighed as his eyes loomed over her body, "You've grown to become an extraordinary woman my dear... I remember when you were just a little child." Kagome narrowed her eyes, 'What is he talking about. I have never seen him in my life.' Kagome studied his face, squinting her eyes hoping somewhere in the back of her mind she'll remember. The green strip somehow reminded her of the guard who patrolled the massive mansion in which her family lived in before they were poor. The guard... he was father's most trusted general in war as well. Her heartbeat quickened as she uncovered another part of her memories, the strangers who spoke to her father did indeed have green stripes on their faces. 'Can they be...?'
"Who... who are you?" Kagome held her breath. In the back of her mind she knew he was one of those strangers, but she wanted to hear from his lips. She prayed she was wrong. The general who patrolled the mansion was honest and loyal, Kagome prayed this youkai in front of her wasn't the guard her family so dearly trusted.
"I am hurt my dear, you have forgotten who I am?" Malitzou put up a mock expression of hurt on his face. He folded his arms in front of his chest, "Of course you don't remember, you shouldn't remember!" he retorted with a hearty laugh. Kagome was beyond confused,
"What are you talking about?" she whispered, fearing that what he was about to tell her will change her life. Malitzou turned his back on her.
"I suppose I should enlighten you... somewhat" Malitzou caressed his chin thoughtfully, "Where to begin.... Let's start with your birth...
When you were born, oh you were a mighty beautiful infant that you were. I was already a trusted soldier in your father's army, and your father trusted me enough to 'watch over' you so he called it. He invited the ruling families of the Northern, Southern and Western Lands to a grand ceremony celebrating your birth. One by one the royal families lavish you with extravagant gifts, you were but a week old. But your old man and the Western Lord planned a marriage between you and his eldest son, Sesshoumaru," Malitzou turned to face her, enjoying her reaction. Kagome gasped, "Don't tell me lies! This isn't true!"
Malitzou chuckled, "I can prove it" his eyes gleamed evilly. Kagome swallowed the lump in her throat, "You can not," she hoped he was telling her lies. Malitzou laughed he glided in front of Kagome. He lifted a pointed finger and trailed it lazily down her chest, "I can..." he whispered seductively. Kagome squirmed under his touch. His pointed finger hovered over left hip, "There." Kagome narrowed her eyes at him waiting for him to continue.
"You were born with a star like birth mark the size of a pebble, and by your 5th year of life it grew to the size of a peach pit." Kagome's gasped, it was true. What he just said to her was true, but is he really telling you the truth about her past?
"Believe me now?" Malitzou smirked and continued to reveal her past, the past that she strangely doesn't remember. "The marriage was to strengthen the trade route from the Western coast to the Eastern. Young Sesshoumaru, how adorable he was. He was a mother's pup that he was, everywhere she went, he followed. The Western family would come to the Eastern mansion every moon after your fifth birthday, so you would get acquainted with him. I would watch over you both when you slept, ate, and played. Your heart lifting laughter was no longer directed to me, but to Sesshoumaru," Malitzou sneered to the distance.
"I was jealous, jealous of a mere pup. I was your protector, your guardian during your infant and toddler years. I was your source of fun, and warmth. When Sesshoumaru came along, you forgot about me. I was left in the shadows and by your seventh birthday, my heart was heavy with hate for the Western Prince. I wanted you Kagome, as my wife. When I was your bodyguard, I would imagine how you would look like when you grew older, old enough to mate. When your father and the Western Lord began to finalize a date for your marriage, I objected. I told him I would be able to supply you with love and protection, I told him I wanted you to be my mate. But your old man wouldn't have it and out of repulse I left the Eastern army. I didn't know where I was going, I wandered for days until one day I collapsed from exhaustion.
I woke up in a cave, with a witch hovering over me. She told me, 'Your heart is filled with hate, your soul is left in the endless shadow pits. Let me help you get revenge.' I agreed instantly, without a doubt. She became my mentor, she taught me the art of dark magic, shadow spells, shapeshifter dolls... everything. I told her my story near my final days of training, and she brewed me a concoction. It was the foulest smelling vial I have ever, ever tasted. The witch told me, the potion is one of her strongest creations; Memoria Disapeous. She told me to pour the contents into food, once mixed with the food it will be undetectable even by the strongest youkai but it'll take several weeks for it to take effect."
Malitzou paused and looked at Kagome, "Any questions so far?" Kagome numbly shook her head, she was in shock. She didn't know what to think, he was there since her birth and he claims he wants her as his mate, 'Why is he doing this?' Malitzou smirked at the uncertainty and shock she was feeling and continued.
"Creatures who digests even the smallest drop will have parts of their memory shielded, and she told me to concentrate on a subject and say the spell. It was that simple. I completed my training and went back to your father's lands with my plan to overtake your father's land. Why? Because your father was unfit, he was too kind to the other rulers. Too naive, a true ruler should rule from the fear of his subjects. I hid myself amongst the shadows and watched you for several days. You were so beautiful, you were nearly eight. It took me almost a year to complete my training. I yearned for you even more my Kagome. You were so beautiful, and Sesshoumaru was still around you. That fueled my desire to take over the land and make you my mate even more. A week before your eighth birthday, your father had another feast and I snuck in the kitchen with the Memoria Disapeous. I poured the contents in every dish I could find and slipped back into the darkness. I waited until the Western family left the Eastern lands, then I slipped into you father's office with a couple of my shapeshifters.
I told him, 'Give me your daughter's hand in marriage and the ring that the Western family gave you.' But he stubborning refused, and demanded that I leave them alone. I told him about the potion and he threw a fit and I simply told him, 'I will take over your land and force your daughter to marry me.' Couple days later, I came back. My shapeshifters and I used the same potion on every river, stream, wells we saw and everyone in the Eastern premises forgot about your family."
Kagome's body shook, 'Why...?' that was the only thought that was going through her head.
"I gave specific orders to bound and gag your family and send them to a prison in a remote location higher up in the mountains. But somehow, you escaped and I couldn't find your family ever since that night. I took control of the Eastern throne and made myself the new ruler of the Eastern Lands. As I introduced myself to the Western family, the Lord's mate was very wary of me. I had a feeling she knew what was going on, or at least is suspicious of me. I did what I had to, I stole her soul and left her to die in her mate's arms. The stupid dog thought it was an incurable disease.
Then that very night, I created a new shapeshifter, Yuna I named her. I trained her to be my healer, I taught her the various uses of herbs and poisons. But after several years, she disappeared without a trace. I discovered sometime later after I created Kagai and Naraku, that Yuna resides in the Western Lands as their healer. Why? I don't know. But I did know that shapeshifters have the ability to age and grow like a youkai, the ability to gain knowledge. That was their flaw in my perfect plan. It didn't matter, I knew she wouldn't reveal my secrets, I gave her a mute potion, anything related to me she will not be able to tell a soul.
Naraku and Kagai were the shapeshifters I trained as my pups. Kagai grew of a suitable age to mate, and I wanted to control all of Japan. The West was my first target. I had the perfect plan, a mating ceremony between Sesshoumaru and Kagai. Kagai will murder Sesshoumaru after she is pupped, and Sesshoumaru had the throne. Of course, I wasn't going to wait for the Western Lord to die, I was going to kill him. The same way I killed his mate, and then... The Western Lands will be mine" his eyes gleamed with amusement and anticipation.
"How can you do such a thing?!" Kagome screamed, "I WON'T LET YOU KILL THEM!" Malitzou snorted,
"You can't stop me" he gloated and withdrew a vial with dark liquid from his sash. A shiver crept up Kagome's spine, "What are you going to do with that?"
Malitzou kept silent, and gripped Kagome's chin to his face, "Guess..." he taunted. He popped open the vial's cork and poured the content in his mouth. Kagome was confused, "Wh-" she was cut short, Malitzou crushed his lips against her. Kagome squealed as she felt bitter liquid pour into her mouth, 'What is that?!' her mind screamed. Kagome felt him pinch her nose, she can't breath. Kagome's lungs quivered for air. She had no choice but to swallow the liquid. Kagome unwillingly swallowed the bitter liquid and felt Malitzou smile in triumph. He pulled back and Kagome gasped for her, her chest heaving with each gasping breath.
"Now... You will tell no one of my plan. You will tell no one of what you saw in your room only moments ago," Malitzou smirked as he stared at Kagome's hateful expression. "You will tell no one that I've capture you, and most importantly I want you to kill Sesshoumaru after his coronation..." Kagome's eyes widen, "What makes you think I will listen to a word you say?!"
"Because my dear, you drank my obedience potion" he laughed darkly. Kagome's breath quickened, "I won't do it!"
Malitzou shook his head, "You won't have a choice Kagome. I own you now, I am your Master," he opened his arms and lifted his head to the sky, "Worship me." Kagome growled and spat at his face, "I belong to no one!" Malitzou sneered at Kagome and wiped her spit off of his face.
"You are lucky that I require you to give me a true heir," Malitzou backhanded Kagome at the word 'require'. Kagome's head snapped to the side from the force. A light trail of blood seeped out of her lips. "I rather die than aid you in your evil deeds," Kagome glared at him.
"You have no choice Kagome, when Sesshoumaru and Kagai finish their marriage ceremony, several hours later Sesshoumaru's coronation will begin. Though Kagai may not be pupped, well... I can always fix that. I didn't expect to find you in the Western Lands and in my clutches, so I'm altering my plan. After tomorrow night, I will control the Western Lands!" his eyes twinkled with mirth as he stirred up another part of his plan. With a snap of his fingers, the chains that held Kagome disappeared and she dropped onto the grass. Kagome gasped in pain as her muscles around her shoulders ached from holding her body up for such a long time. Malitzou kneeled in front of her and held out his hand, "Look" he commanded.
Kagome's head snapped up to look at his hand without Kagome's concent. Her breath hitched in her throat as a mirror appeared out of thin air and into his palm. The foggy mirror soon darkened into what Kagome thought was a room, no a prison cell. She saw two slumped figures by the corner of the damp cell. Her eyes widen, she knew them. Their faces are so familiar, she can never forget them.
"Papa! Souta!" Kagome attempted to snatch the mirror away from his hand. But Malitzou pulled back and stood up on his feet, "If you want to see them, you will do as I say. Not that you have a choice," he smirked. Kagome was torn, she had to choose between her beloved Sesshoumaru or her own father and brother, 'What do I do?' Kagome bowed her head and sobbed, 'Sesshoumaru... or my family?'
Malitzou began leaving the secluded meadow he cast a glance behind him to the sobbing girl, "You have no choice Kagome. I am giving you a very generous deal," with that said Malitzou disappeared from Kagome's sight.
"A generous deal... and yet I am forced to choose between my family or Sesshoumaru-sama... What is so generous about that?" Kagome's body sank onto the grass, she felt numb, and helpless. Kagome wept, "I... I can't choose."
Kagai motioned Naraku to follow her to her room, he complied. Once in the dark room Kagai shut the door and retrieved her whip from her heavily decorated box, "I do not wish to kill you brother... I have no choice. Kneel," Kagai commanded. Naraku with his eyes void of emotions kneed with his back towards her. Kagai raised her whip over her head, "I really... wish I don't have to do this" she brought her whip down on his back with a swift motion. She waited for a cry from her brother, but all she heard was silence.
She whipped him again, and again and again. Kagai never heard a whimper, a whine or even the slightest noise from her brother. She eyed his raw back and felt highly guilty. "Brother... do you remember when we were younger, I would always protect you from the guards? They would beat you without warning knowing you won't tell father," Kagai caressed the top of his hair with tenderness. "We are both pawns in our father's plan to conquer Japan. You and I are alike, once he's done with me... he'll probably kill me off as well," Kagai motioned for Naraku to stand up. She walked to the balcony door and swung it open.
"We were made from his own flesh, molded with dark magic. He has no used of you any more, and we all deserve a chance to live, so go..." Naraku stepped onto the balcony, "Go brother, and never come back. For we both will be dead if father catches you alive..." Kagai embraced her stoic brother, "Go and live your life as you deem fit, find yourself again." Naraku jumped onto the railing and stared at his sister's eyes. Kagai gasped as she saw a flicker in his void eyes and she smiled.
"Goodbye," he whispered and leaped into the sky. Kagai stood at the balcony, "I wish our father will free us one day, but as long as Sesshoumaru lives... He'll need me." Her mind dwelled on Sesshoumaru, 'I don't love you, I don't hate you, but I must put on an act so my father will be please...'
Sesshoumaru sighed, he needed to clear his mind. His heart clenched every minute, every time her face goes through his head he would be reminded of her betrayal. His body still yearns for her, his beast is heartbroken but they both can't forget her enticing scent and smile, "Why..." he whispered. Sesshoumaru swung open the door that led to the gardens. He needed to get away from all of this, and the best place was his mother's garden.
Sesshoumaru stepped through the falling vines and into the ethereal meadow. He narrowed his eyes as he saw a slumped figure on the ground near the blooming moonflowers, "Kagome?" her name slipped out of his mouth with his consent. The figure slowly rose and faced him with shocked, and swollen eyes, "Sesshoumaru-sama... I..." Kagome didn't know what to say to him.
'Do I tell him of Malitzou's plan... but what if the potion really works?' Sesshoumaru's beast howled in his confines, his chosen mate was in pain. Sesshoumaru growled at his beast, 'She betrayed us!' His beast whimpered, 'but we still yearn for her. Let us comfort her,' his beast pleaded. Sesshoumaru hesitantly complied and kneeled in front of the sobbing Kagome. Kagome looked up to meet his stoic eyes, 'He's distant... It's all my fault! If only I left earlier with Sango-chan...' Fresh tears streamed down her face once more, "Sesshoumaru-sama..."
Sesshoumaru shook his head, "Why?" Kagome stared at him with a confused expression.
"Why did you betray me," Sesshoumaru's mind played the scene of Naraku on top of Kagome over and over again in his mind. Kagome shook her head,
"That was someone else, it wasn't me Sesshoumaru-sama. Please believe me!" She gripped his kimono's sleeves, "Believe me," her eyes pleaded. Sesshoumaru felt a shiver trail up his spine, somewhere in the back of his head he knew Kagome would never intentionally hurt him.
"How can we believe you? We saw you with our own eyes. You rutting with that blasted Naraku!" His eyes began to seep crimson. Kagome shook her head frantically and threw her arms around Sesshoumaru's neck. Sesshoumaru's body jumped out slightly from Kagome's embrace. Her crisp scent invaded his nose, he only scent he detected was his and a hint of Naraku. His scent was dominating over Naraku's, much stronger than Naraku's. He narrowed his eyes, 'Beast, if she was indeed rutting with that Naraku, his scent would be...'
'His scent would be dominating over yours, but it is not.' Sesshoumaru's eyes widen, 'Can she be telling the truth?' His beast nodded, 'Someone is planning to break us apart... but who?' Sesshoumaru sighed and snaked his arms around her waist and held Kagome close, "I believe you..." he whispered in her ears. Kagome's eyes widen, "You do? Truly?" He nodded and buried his nose in the crook of her neck, where his mark marred her flawless skin. He inhaled deeply. Sesshoumaru detected no lies but own musky scent mixed with her own.
Kagome felt her heart leap with joy, she pulled back and faced Sesshoumaru. His eyes were no longer distant, but filled with relief and something she couldn't describe, "I have to tell you something, please listen." Sesshoumaru detected the urgency in her tone and nodded. Kagome took a deep breath,
"Malitzou is planning to-" Kagome choked, she couldn't say her next words, 'kill you.' Sesshoumaru raised an eyebrow, "He is planning?" Kagome nodded, she has to try to warn him.
"He wants to take over-" her breath stopped for several moments. Kagome groaned, "I... I can't tell you..." she whispered. Sesshoumaru grew suspicious, "What can't you tell us, Kagome?" Kagome shook her head, "I want to tell you. I want to warn you about him. But he... he made me- I can't tell a soul."
Sesshoumaru narrowed his eyes, "What are you talking about Kagome? What is Malitzou planning?" Kagome shook her head, she has to find a way around telling him directly Malitzou's plan.
"Don't ascend the throne, Sesshoumaru-sama. Reject your father, refuse to marry Kagai and send the East on their way back. Please, I beg you," Kagome clutched on to the collar of his kimono. 'Something is wrong...' Sesshoumaru thought, something was really off.
"Why? Are you jealous of Kagai?" Kagome shook her head, "No, please Sesshoumaru. You will be in danger if you do ascend the throne and marry Kagai. Something awful will happen!" Sesshoumaru growled, he was getting fustrated.
"Tell me what you know Kagome" he said with a hushed growl. Kagome shook her head, "I wish I can, Sesshoumaru-sama. Please I beg of you, I'll do anything. It's not about Kagai. It's about your safety, please listen to me."
Sesshoumaru shook his head in disbelief, "You're working with Malitzou to overtake the Western Lands aren't you" he jumped to conclusions. Kagome's eyes widen, "No! No, I..." Kagome stopped, 'If this is what it takes to keep him safe...' She inhaled deeply and scrambled out of his embrace and stood in front of him.
"If it is so, will you send the East back to their own land and refuse to marry Kagai?" Kagome's heart ached at what she was about to do. She was about to make Sesshoumaru hate her, forever possibly and never forgive her. Sesshoumaru stood up abruptly, "Of course. No one will conspire against the West!" he growled at her. He was fearing the worse, 'Tell us it isn't so...'
Kagome inhaled deeply, "then yes... I am" she shivered at the certainty of her tone. The ache in her heart increased tenfold at Sesshoumaru's shocked expression, "You were conspiring against me?" Kagome nodded. Sesshoumaru shook with rage, "YOU... " he pointed a finger at her.
"I TRUSTED YOU..." he growled and lifted his hand in the air. Kagome closed her eyes and waiting for the impact, 'I'm so sorry Sesshoumaru-sama.' Sesshoumaru's mind was clouded with anger once more, thinking Kagome has mislead him all along. He sneered at Kagome and brought his hand across her face with such force he would never use on another woman. Kagome cringed in pain and fell on the floor cradling her bruising cheek, "Sesshoumaru-sama..." her tears once again betrayed her as they slipped silently down her eyes.
Sesshoumaru looked at the female on the grass, "To think I trusted the likes of you." Kagome shook her head, "My deepest apologies Sesshoumaru-sama..."
He swiftly turned his back towards her, "You will be executed tomorrow, celebrating my coronation" he spat out coldly. Kagome let out a silent sob, "I'm sorry..." Sesshoumaru growled, "You will no longer plague this Sesshoumaru's mind, wench" he leaped out of the secluded gardens and disappeared from sight. Kagome sobbed loudly, "Sesshoumaru-sama!! I... I'm so sorry..." Kagome's mind hazed over as she laid on the grass weeping.
"I deserve to die," she cried. Her beloved Sesshoumaru hated her now... hate her enough to want her executed. She wasn't going to kill him, she would never forgive herself. The best solution was her death, yes... It was for the best.
"I'm so sorry Sesshoumaru-sama... but, I do love you... That will never be a lie," Kagome numbly stood up and headed back inside the castle, not knowing Sesshoumaru was hiding amongst the large shrubs and bushes. His heart ached as he watched her retrieving figure, 'She loves me...'
