Chapter 16 - Blackmail

�Stupid old men�I�m gonna rip off their heads and feed them to Sesshomaru�s dragon�the nerve of those stupid, perverted,�.�
Inuyasha was still muttering to himself, his face glowing red, as he walked down the road so fast that Kagome almost had to run to stay caught up to him.
�I..Inuyasha,� Kagome sputtered, panting with the effort of trying to keep his pace and talk to him at the same time, �m..maybe we should go back. I mean,�I�ve kind of been feeling strange lately too.�
Inuyasha stopped short and spun on his heel to face her. �What do you mean strange, wench?� he said in a barely audible tone, his voice wavering between fear and anger.
Kagome twisted her fingers together nervously, and stared at the ground, flushing slightly and wondering if it was a good idea to discuss this with Inuyasha.
�Well,� she started �I�ve been feeling�sort of�d-different around you�and�um�� Inuyasha put his arms in his sleeves and rolled his eyes. �Different how, wench?� he said impatiently.
�Uh��
Inuyasha started to growl, then yelled, �OUT WITH IT ALREADY, WENCH!�
Kagome glanced at him, then took a deep breath, �OkyoumakemefeelhornyandIcantcontrolmyselfwhenyoutouchme.� she blurted out in one breath, then yelled �THERE! Ya happy?� and stomped off down the road. Inuyasha stood rooted to the spot with his mouth agape and his eyes practically bulging out of his head.

�Inuyasha!� called Sango as she and Miroku rode up on Kirara�s back. �Where�s Kagome?� The poor, shocked hanyou shook his head, still slightly dazed, and silently pointed in the direction that Kagome had gone. �Well, shouldn�t you go after her?� said Sango, with an exasperated look at Inuyasha. He forced his eyes to look at Sango, and nodded slightly, still looking like he was out of it.
Sango looked away and snorted, as Miroku slid off Kirara�s back, to walk with Inuyasha. She promptly took off to go find Kagome, leaving the men on their own. �So�Inuyasha,� Miroku started. Inuyasha�s head snapped over in Miroku�s direction. He had a kind of wild look in his eyes, like he was afraid, excited, angry, and happy, all at the same time.
Miroku looked at him warily ��did something happen in my and Sango�s absence?� he asked calmly.
�Feh.� Inuyasha started walking after the girls, at his original fast pace. Miroku jogged a few steps to catch up, then matched his pace, walking beside the hanyou in silence. �I think those old codgers may have done the blood bond without us knowing it.� Inuyasha finally confessed after a few moments of silence.
Miroku looked ahead thoughtfully for a few moments, before he spoke, �Inuyasha, how much do you know about the blood bond, really?�
Inuyasha�s brows drew together, as he thought hard, searching for any information he may have ever known or heard about the ritual, besides the fact that his parents had done it.
�Well�� he began hesitantly, ��I know that it�s done when you take a mate�� he stopped cold, shock once again overcoming his features. Inuyasha�s face paled, �Does that mean that Kagome is my mate?� he asked quietly, his voice trembling.
A small smile slowly started to form on Miroku�s face, as he thought about all of the implications of the recent change in events. �Does Kagome know about this?� he asked, as his smile started to broaden, a slight twinkle glinting from one of his deep blue eyes.
Inuyasha started glaring at the monk. �Don�t even think about saying anything about this to the others.� he growled quietly. �I don�t want Kagome to find out until I�m sure. Got it?�
Miroku examined his fingernails with a bored look on his face, then looked up at Inuyasha and seemed to consider for a moment. �I suppose I could be persuaded to keep your little secret for a while�if you were to stop giving me a hard time about my and Sango�s exploits.� he said in a nonchalant tone.
Inuyasha�s glare intensified, and he growled a little more loudly before he said. �Keh! Fine�deal.� and turned to find the girls. �You can�t tease Sango either.� Miroku called out behind him. Inuyasha�s shoulders slumped and he mumbled �Feh.� as Miroku grinned and happily followed.
