Author's Note: Sorry for the long delay in posting this chapter. I've been distracted.

Chapter Sixteen.

It was not no more than two months later, did Izayoi started to get ill in the morning and different food smells would send her running outside and relieve her stomach of its contents. Natsuko knew immediately that the seeds that Inu no Taisho planted within her had bore fruit. She knew the people in Izayoi’s father’s castle would become aware that she had bred with a male and she was not married or engaged to anyone. She knew Izayoi’s father would banish her and when it came up that she did have relations with a male, her father banished her to their mountain home with an army of soldiers to guard her with orders once the baby was born to kill it immediately.
Izayoi looked at Natsuko as they looked out onto the mountains that surrounded them. “They will kill my child and I cannot leave this location to get to Inu no Taisho’s castle to make sure that the babe will be in his care,”
Natsuko looked at her. “I could get word to him that you are with pup and when it is possibly due.”
“That would mean you would have to leave this castle?” Izayoi asked.
Natsuko nodded. “Yes, but they will not think anything about me leaving and returning. It is you, they are not letting leave. I can go and return within a couple days and a night. He will know of you being heavy with his pup.”
“Will he come for the pup?” she asked.
“Yes, he will,”
“Then, when I am five months heavy with the pup, go to him.” Izayoi stated.
All Natsuko could do was nod.

Five months went by, Natsuko watched as Izayoi grew heavy with pup. She gathered her weapons that she used to hunt with and headed off to go hunting, with the intent on going to the location where she saw Inu no Taisho’s mark at and wait for him to arrive as he should be there within the next few hours.
She told the guards that she should be back in a few hours with at least two full containers of meat, to which she got smiles from as they liked it when she hunted as she hunted with intent on bringing back enough to last for a good full month before she hunts again. They also liked her as she didn’t act like she was anything special.
Natsuko walked a human pace till she was deep into the woods before she started to sprint towards the fifth mountain ridge to wait for Inu no Taisho to arrive. She looked at the marking of his clan before turning away to gaze towards the moon. She recalled how scared Izayoi was when they traveled over the mountains to get there.
Izayoi watched as the carrier she was in wobbled as they walked alongside the path. She had to look away from the edge. She looked over at Natsuko who walked by the carrier. “You are not scared of the path, Lady Natsuko?”
“Nope, I just don’t look at the edge,” She replied. And in a low whisper only Izayoi could hear. “Even a yokai like myself I get scared.”
Natsuko drew herself away from her memories as her hand reached for her sword hidden by her sleeve as her hand grasped the hilt a familiar voice rang out.
“Hello Natsuko,”
She turned her head to see Inu no Taisho standing behind the rock. “My lord,”
Inu no Taisho walked around the rock and pulled his knife as he started to carve his marking into the rock’s surface. “So what brings you out to this location?”
“She’s with pup . . . your pup,” Natsuko stated.
He stopped carving and looked at her. “Izayoi is with pup?”
“Yes, your pup. Since you were the only male she took within herself.”
“How long is she till she drops?”
“Another four months from now. You two did mate at the time of the full moon,” Natsuko stated calmly. “You should return here four months from now and wait for me to arrive to bring you to her domain to claim the child,”
“Very well, the pup will be given to me and I will let Lady Kannon raise it alongside our pup she will drop around the same time,” Inu no Taisho stated.
“And no one will tell the pup that she is not his or her dam,” Natsuko offered.
Inu no Taisho nodded his head. “No one will tell him that he or she is not my mate’s child, nor will Sesshomaru know either that his sister or brother is not his full blood sibling.”
Natsuko nodded as she stood up picking up her bow and quiver filled with arrows. Inu no Taisho noticed it and asked the question. She turned to look at him. “I told them that I was going hunting and I need to get on my way since I have given you the information.”
Inu no Taisho smiled as he went behind the rock he had emerged from behind and pulled out two large prey animals already slain and gutted. “I hunted them on the way here since I knew you would have gave a reason to be this far out here,”
Natsuko looked at them and seen that they were gutted so the meat would be unspoiled by the gas from the intestines. She hoisted it up onto her shoulders and glanced back at Inu no Taisho. “You might want to send Sesshomaru out for a month training session with his fellow recruits in four months so he would not see us enter the castle with the pup in your arms. Till I see you again,” and she dashed off into the forest.

It wasn’t long till Natsuko returned carrying two large deer on her back. The soldiers rushed to aide her in carrying them in. Most of them cheered as she walked past them with her two kills as they knew it would take hours for them to stalk and slay even one deer, she was really good at hunting.
The head general with whom stayed close to Lady Izayoi approached her with a smile on his face. “You have outdone yourself again, Lady Natsuko, stalking and hunting two deer within an hour of being gone.”
Natsuko smiled as she shrugged. “It wasn’t too hard to stalk them in winter, General Setsunano Takemaru; their tracks led me directly to where they were at.”
“Tell me, since you have been our Lady Izayoi’s friend for a long time, who is this male she is carrying the child of?” Setsunano Takemaru asked.
Natsuko turned to look at him. “He is none of your interest,”
He smirked. “So you know who he is.” He stepped in front of her. “Tell me who he is?”
Natsuko locked her eyes onto him. “I do know who he is and you might not want to cross swords with him as he will kill you if you dare,”
“So he is a swordsman?” Setsunano Takemaru stated.
“Yes, but he is also a Lord,” Natsuko replied, as she walked around him and headed into the domain. She stopped and turned to look at him. “If you can defeat him, I’m sure that Izayoi’s father will be pleased since he is the one who dallied with her and got her with child,”
“If he comes here, I shall defeat him!” Setsunano Takemaru yelled at her retreating backside. “But having you as my woman wouldn’t be too bad,”
The next thing he knew he was on his back with her sword against his throat. “As if I would dally with one like you, Setsunano Takemaru, I am not completely who you think I am.”
He looked at her not fully understanding what she meant by that before she got off of him and sheathed her sword. He watched her as she disappeared into the castle with two of his men assisting her with her kill. He noticed that she had her white fur wrapped around her waist and at times, he swore it moved on its own. He figured it was his eyes playing tricks with him before he turned and got the men back to guarding the domain again.

It was four months later, Natsuko sat by the fireplace stroking it to keep the room warm and toasty as she listened to Izayoi’s moans as she contended with the starting labor pains. She knew that the pup would be born soon as she paced within the chambers as the mid wife assisted Izayoi with delivery.
Natsuko walked over to them and with a blanket that had been touched only by Inu no Taisho’s hands, she gave it to the mid wife. “Be sure that the baby is wrapped in this blanket and let no one in till I return. I’m going to go get the baby’s father and bring him here to collect the babe.”
The mid wife nodded as she took hold of the blanket, she watched as Natsuko dashed out of the room before turning to tend to her patient.

Natsuko reached the ridge and sniffed the air to see if he was near. She detected his scent in the air coming in her direction. She smiled knowing that he would soon have two pups to deal with when they return to the castle. She sat on the rock looking towards Izayoi’s home.
It was not long before she heard his voice asking if the pup had been born yet. She glanced behind her. “Not yet, she was in starting stage of labor when I left to bring you to her side, my lord,”
Inu no Taisho smiled. “Then, bring me to her side, Lady Natsuko, so I may claim my child.”
They both hurried down the ridge to face the warriors that stood around the domain. Natsuko looked at them as she walked into view. The men looked at Inu no Taisho with a strange look as they watched them both enter the domain without pulling a sword or anything.
Natsuko led him to the birthing room and told him to wait there as she entered the room. She headed to the bedside of Izayoi to see the mid wife kneeling by the bed, but no sound was coming from Izayoi or the mid wife. “Mid wife, is all fairing well with the delivery?”
The mid wife turned to look at Natsuko, her eyes showing the tears that fell. “Izayoi is dead. She died during the birth of her only son,”
Natsuko was taken back. She was almost ready to go out to where Touga was and take his sword from him to revive her but she knew it would not revive the same person twice. Izayoi was dead and there was nothing she or anyone else could do for her. “Inform her father that she died in childbirth and that her son was stillborn. He shall never know that his grandson is alive.”
The mid wife nodded as she presented the wrapped baby in the blanket she had given to her before she left. “The baby,”
“Please present him to his father and sire, for he is waiting outside the doors to accept his offspring?” Natsuko asked.
The mid wife nodded and walked to the door, opening them to see a white haired male demon standing there. She started to step back but Natsuko’s hand on her back gently encouraged her to move forth. She knelt before the tall demon and placed the baby at his feet. “The son of the late Lady Izayoi,”
Inu no Taisho looked at the woman. “The late . . .?”
Natsuko spoke quickly. “Izayoi died in childbirth, my lord. Take your son and let us be off for home,”
Inu no Taisho nodded, as he reached down and picked the baby up into his arms. He pulled the cover away from his face and checked the genitals to see that he was indeed a male pup. “InuYasha shall be your name.” With that said, he turned on his heel and headed for the door from which they entered.
Natsuko followed him behind as soon as they reached the forest edge, they both immediately started a fast run back to his domain and to Inu no Taisho’s mate who would be dropping her own pup very soon.
