next week I'll have my exam so... this week I SHOULD be studying... as I am SUPPOSED to... don't expect an update before today in two weeks... and if I do update before that without mentioning that there's nothing to learn right then... hit me -.-

The play ended in a success and all involved in the creation of the performance were invited for a drink in more private localities of the theatre. The two brothers had been invited as well and to his surprise Sesshomaru was asked to say a few words as the one who had financed most of the project. Slipping easily into his role of the business man, the director, he spoke about his reasons, about the importance of culture and all the other empty formulations of the humans he now had to fool like an actor since he couldn’t just say the ugly truth that it initially had been just a whim of his, created out of the necessity to make his company look good in the eyes of the public. When he glanced across the room, where his brother and lover was leaning elegantly against a pillar while holding another glass of wine, he knew from the sarcastic smile of the hanyou that the other saw through his game quite easily.

While the youkai went back to their spot, his younger brother was asked as well to hold a little speech and they passed each other almost like strangers if there hadn’t been the butterfly touch of their hands, invisible to the oblivious humans around them. Sesshomaru didn’t really listen to what Inuyasha said but rather enjoyed the sound of his voice, a voice with a smooth and gentle feeling like polished old wood in the sun. He thought that he absolutely had to bring Inuyasha to read him some of his works aloud, no matter what the costs. As he studied the delicate features of his lover in the spotlight on the little podium the humans had built, his desire for him grew even more. His last stay-over had been a few weeks ago and he almost felt like an addict on withdrawal of his favourite drug.

He observed the hanyou standing amidst the humans, smiling and chatting in a relaxed way even if he emanated an air of nobility that must have come into his character during those long centuries during which the brother had never met. When his younger brother looked over to him, his eyes like glittering amethysts against the white skin rendered even paler and more translucent because of the black hair, the youkai answered it with a heated gaze from his fake emerald eyes while his expression remained impassable and icy to the humans. As the next speech came and Inuyasha was freed from the attention of the humans, he walked over to his elder brother and playfully let their glasses collide, the crystal clear sound resonating in their ears like the start of something new, something hidden in the darkness of a protective cover. Sesshomaru leaned slightly down, not caring what other people would think if they saw him like that, and said with a low voice, barely hiding the want in his tone.

„Why don’t you come over to my place? It’s a bit far to go back to your home at this hour…”

Inuyasha smirked and craned his neck, his breath tickling Sesshomaru’s chin and cheek from a bit further away than normal.

“Just admit whatever it is that you’re planning…”

Sesshomaru smirked and whispered in his ear:

“I want to screw you all night long…”

“Finally you’re being honest.”

“I’m always honest.”

They waited for the little reception to end, the knowledge of what was going to happen very soon exciting their nerves already, like a slow game between a prey and a hunter, while they kept a distance proper to friends in the eyes of the humans. That didn’t damp their desire for closeness, it only increased it even if the furtive gazes they exchanged in the half-light of the shadow of the dimly lit room said more than a thousand intimate words lovers could exchange.

In silence they drove back, the driver apparently used to not remark anything or start silly chitchat. The brothers were sitting apart, not touching in any way, only looking at the night scenery of Tokyo as it flew by their respective windows. As they got out of the car and went away to the elevator, still not speaking to each other, Sesshomaru could feel the questioning look of his driver and almost chuckled to himself. They were quite the odd pair, he and Inuyasha. Not close enough to be lovers, not warm enough to be friends and definitively not related in the eyes of those blind humans. Little did they know of what happened in the rooms hidden from their indiscreet gazes and burdening morals. The youkai wondered if his little game drove his younger brother already nuts but said one just looked ahead with the almost bored, impassable expression he now so often had. Even in the elevator, spending interminable minutes as the private access to the penthouse moved higher and higher, they were silent, Inuyasha not looking at Sesshomaru while the latter shot from time to time a little gaze, as if he already wanted to undress his little brother.

With a soft ‘ding’ the elevator opened and gave way into a luxurious entrance hall. Hidden behind heavy doors of dark oak, cedar or teak (Sesshomaru didn’t remember anymore what he had ordered back then) several rooms were hidden: His own private bureau, a conference hall for the meetings of highest importance, a loft where he received his guests and finally, his own private rooms. He didn’t need to show the way for his younger brother; the smaller man followed his nose and found the right door immediately, even if Sesshomaru’s scent was all over the place. The youkai opened the door gallantly and ignored the sarcastic smile on his lover he was soon going to gobble whole. Inuyasha stood in the room only lit by the pulse of Tokyo by night and let his eyes wander before he remarked:

“Fancy place you have, Sesshomaru. I didn’t know you had something for western furniture.”

“Oh, this is more for appearances; my real private space is further in.”

“Still… oh, there are my books…”

Inuyasha looked at the black library and trailed his finger over the volumes of the combined works of ‘Satori Shirayuki’ and ‘Makoto Shirayuki’.

“You really have all of them?”

“Sure, I like them. And what I like, I usually keep next to me.”

“Except me and my body.”

“I would, it’s you who’s the one escaping.”

“Haha… I always will, it’s a conditioned reflex, you murderous dog… though the preservation instincts are kicked off by something else than back then…”

“It’s your fault for having such a delicious little ass…”

“You’ll kill me one day, Sesshomaru…”

Inuyasha discovered the big piano in a corner of the room and walked over.

“I didn’t know you were playing the piano…”

“Just a little bit… was a present from a business partner during my former impersonation as I had pretended to have this as a hobby…”

“Eeeh, is that so…”

Inuyasha’s white hands touched the ebony wood and tentatively tried a few notes. Sesshomaru chuckled while he lifted the spell on his appearance. Suddenly his brother turned around, the hair flowing with the movement like black mist and said, with a strangely serious expression on his face:

“Play something for me.”

“Why?”

“I want to know who you are, Sesshomaru.”

“And for this you have to hear me playing?”

“Yes.”

Sesshomaru chuckled softly and sat down in front of the instrument. Before he laid his hands on the keys, he gently caressed the cheek of his younger brother who had propped himself on his arms, looking at him from the side. Then he began to play. Harmonic chords filled the room in ever repeating patters woven in an inextricable net of variations as he chased up and down the whole scale, needing no scores and only as much as an occasional, furtive glance at his fingers. Feeling the intense gaze of his brother at his profile or his hands, he smiled softly, almost wishing his fingers were trailing all over him instead of his eyes but the thought of being looked at this closely didn’t disturb him, he rather liked it. Suddenly, while he had held his eyes closed for a moment to remember the score correctly, two pale arms enlaced his broad shoulders tenderly and a cheek came to snuggle next to his. While he finished the last chords he could sense the steady heartbeat from his younger brother pulsing softly against his back, his neck and the sensitive skin of his markings.

His hands now at rest, he gently enlaced the neck of his sensual attacker and rubbed his own face softly against his brother’s.

“Did you like it?”

“Hmmm.”

The youkai craned his neck slightly back and as he pulled the other down for a kiss, he could feel his smile on his lips. The black hair formed a curtain around them, hiding them from the eyes of the gods, of fate and whoever would have wanted to separate them. As they unlocked, the hunter whispered sweetly to his prey:

“I’d rather play with something else…”

In one smooth movement he picked up the lightweight and walked in a stride over to his bedroom. The black hair turned white while dog ears twitched joyously as Inuyasha kissed him fervently, pulling his body up on the strong neck. In the room filled with only the scent of centuries and more importantly Sesshomaru’s scent only, the lights of the true and fake stars cloaked in moonlight glittered in the lust hazed eyes of the hanyou as his elder brother gently laid him down on the bed.
