Chapter 17
�� The week seemed to fly by.� They celebrated Inuyasha
and Kouga�s mating in a nice little ceremony, but
most of the time was spent training.�
Kagome however did insist on spending time with Shippo
and Rin every day.�
They all could feel Kagome�s anxiety and the fact that she was becoming
more vicious in training confirmed it.� Sesshomaru was worried he knew that Kagome was hiding
something from him and he feared it was bad.
�� He had tried to get her to talk
about it, but she had insisted that it was nothing.� That she was simply thinking about the worst
possible outcome. He still felt that something was wrong, that she had seen
something bad and was trying to hide it from him.� He couldn�t even use the link of their mating
mark to find it. �He feared that she had
seen her own death, especially after she insisted on spending time with the
children every day.
�� Now here they stood, in the field
again.� Their previous training sessions
had gotten pretty hard.� Sesshomaru even had trouble keeping up with her, her attacks were flawless and completely vicious.� Everyone stood around the edge of the field
watching.� Sesshomaru
watched Kagome closely, he would win this time.�
He needed to win and prove to her that she had no reason to fear.
�� Kagome smirked and disappeared.� Sesshomaru focused
his senses, but he couldn�t even sense her.�
Then he felt it, she was right behind him.� He jumped narrowly missing her swing, he flipped and landed facing her.� She was already charging toward him.� He brought his arm up and blocked her
kick.� Then she unleashed a flurry of
punches and kicks so fast that he couldn�t keep up.
�� He found himself flat on his back
with her foot over his throat.� Then he
made his move, he grabbed her foot that was on his throat and swiped the other
one out from under her.� He pinned her to
the ground with him on top of her and between her legs.� He smirked at her, but it was quickly wiped
away when she pushed up and flipped him off and landed on top of him straddling
his hips.
�� She smirked and before he could flip
then back over she pushed up and flipped off of him.� She landed in a crouch a few feet away.� He jumped up and faced her.� He moved with all the speed he had and
grabbed her from the front pinning her arms to her side.� She smirked and he saw that glint in her eye
again.� Suddenly, tree branches started
to shoot from the forest straight at them.
�� Before he could react some of the
branches pierced through her and straight into him.� He jumped up to avoid the rest and landed
after the flurry stopped.� Kagome pushed
back freeing herself from the branch that impaled them.� He watched as blood spurted out of the wound,
then reached down and pulled the branch from his body.
�� You should know by now that
grabbing me is a bad idea,� she said.
�� I thought you would be over hurting
yourself during training,� he said.
�� Not until you learn to stay out of
close range of the enemy.� Naraku can send out tentacles from anywhere, except he
would aim to kill.�
�� So that is why you keep using that move,�
Sesshomaru said understanding suddenly dawning on
him.
�� She wasn�t trying to get in a blow
to free herself, she was trying to teach him the error
of such a move with Naraku.� Before he could fully grasp that he was
attacked again.� He could smell her blood
as she attacked.� There was too much
blood loss he needed to stop her.� He
flew back from the blow she inflicted.�
He quickly tried to think of a strategy to get her to stop.� Before he could think of
anything though she attacked again.
�� They kept swinging and he could
smell the blood as it assaulted his nose.�
He was becoming more desperate.�
Her blood kept flowing out bathing the field, he needed to stop her.� Suddenly he felt energy flow into him and he
moved quicker than he ever had before.�
He moved faster than he ever thought possible.� He managed to dodge all of her blows then
pushed the pressure point on her neck to knock her out.
�� He caught her as she fell and
started to walk back to the castle.� He
could feel the blood flowing from the wound and covering his arm.� He knew she would heal, but he still couldn�t
figure out why she had not healed yet.�
Hopefully since he stopped her and she was resting it would heal quickly,
before she lost too much blood.
�� Sess, I
have never seen you move that fast!� Inuyasha said
staring wide eyed as Sesshomaru approached the group.
�� I didn�t know I could move that
fast, but she was bleeding too much and I had to stop her,� Sesshomaru
replied continuing on.
�� I thought she could heal herself?� Bankotsu said following Sesshomaru
for a minute.
�� She can, but she was pushing so
hard that all of her energy was going toward the fight,� Sesshomaru
replied, �Now that she is resting she should heal, hopefully before she loses
too much blood.�
�� Sesshomaru
walked the rest of the way to the castle and went straight to his chambers with
his tiny mate in his arms.� He could hear
the others practicing outside as he lay her down on the bed.� He gathered a bucket of water and some cloths
and began to clean the wound.� Why was she
pushing so hard?� Did she see something
bad happening and was trying to change the future?
�� As he cleaned the wound he noticed
that it still had a chunk of wood from the branch in it.� He cleaned all of the blood off of her while
he was deep in thought.� He knew she was
anxious about the fight that was coming, he just
wished he knew why.� When he cleaned off
all of the blood he looked at the wound.�
It was still bleeding and the healing was very slow.� He needed to do something.
�� He leaned down and started to lick
the wound.� His saliva could heal when he
put the right concentration into it.� He
gently lapped at the wound, cleaning off all of the blood and slowly healing
the wound.� When he was done healing the
front he turned her over so he could start on her back.� When he turned her he noticed that it was
still bleeding, but it did seem to be healing a little faster.
�� He leaned down and started to lap at
the wound to help so she didn�t use too much energy.� He cleaned the fresh blood off and licked the
wound until it was completely closed.�
When he was done he went to her bag and pulled out one of her shirts to
slip on her.� He threw the other one in
the trash and lay down on the bed with her.�
After a minute she started to whimper and thrash in her sleep.
�� Sesshomaru
frowned and pulled her close to him.� He
talked to her calmly even though he was worried.� She felt warm and continued to thrash, sweat
coating her body.� He pulled her into his
lap and began to rock at a loss as to what to do.� He tried to use the mating link to calm her
and find out why she was feverish.� What
happened he didn�t expect.� He was
suddenly pulled into her dream, and it felt so real.

�� They
all stood in a field facing Naraku and a whole hoard
of demons.� There were so many demons
that he couldn�t count them.� Kagome
stood at his side and they were all fighting.�
As he looked around he noticed that everyone was injured, the whole
group was falling and there were still so many demons.� Then Kagome jumped in front of him and he
watched as a tentacle pierced right through her chest.
�� She
fell to the ground, but kept fighting, then he felt a
pain pierce his chest.� He was suddenly
watching from a different angle as his body fell to the ground.� Everyone was falling and Kagome was barely
standing.� Then she suddenly screamed and
a light shot out of her in every direction disintegrating all of the demons
except Naraku.�
He could sense that her energy was very low and tried to yell at her to
run, but he couldn�t.�
Naraku shot out another tentacle at her and
pierced her shoulder then lifted her toward him.� She glared at Naraku
and grabbed the tentacle.� She looked
around at all of her dead companions, then back at Naraku.�
�Sesshomaru,�
she whispered and then used the last of her energy to shoot through the
tentacle in her shoulder and travel straight to Naraku.�
Naraku disintegrated as her body fell to
the ground, �I love you,� she said as she took her last breath.

Kagome shot up in his lap gasping for air, a single tear
trailing down her cheek.
�Kagome,� she heard Sesshomaru say.
She turned toward him to see concern in his eyes and tears
trailing down his face.� Then she knew, he had seen her dream.�
She hugged him, holding him as close to her as she could.� She pulled back and kissed the tears away
from his face.
�I didn�t want you to see that,� she whispered.
�You should have told me, we can work together to change
that,� Sesshomaru said kissing her forehead.
�I didn�t want to scare you.�
You are already worried about losing me in the battle, I didn�t want to
add to it,� she said looking down.
He put a finger under her chin and lifted her face to his,
�Yes, but I will always worry about you.�
You are my mate and it is my job to protect you, and worry about your
safety.� In fact seeing your dream will
help me to determine strategies and maybe avoid that ending.�
�I�m already trying to work that out.� I have been training my powers to send out a
force field among other things.� That is
also why I have been so hard on you in our training sessions.� I am going to try to change this future with
everything I have.� That is also why I
pushed today.�
�You scared the hell out of me.� You were losing too much blood.� Somehow it gave me the energy to move faster
than I ever have in my life to stop you.�
�That is what I was hoping.�
I was hoping if I pushed that it would help you to unlock all of your
energy.�
�Next time why don�t you try something else?� You lost too much blood and I had to help
heal your wounds before you bled to death,� he said letting a small smile creep
onto his face.
Kagome smiled back and leaned in to kiss him, �I�m sorry, it
was the only way I could think of,� she said when she pulled back.
�Guess I will have to try to find a way to unlock all of my
energy without you being close to death,� Sesshomaru
said leaning in again.
�You don�t have to figure anything out, you unlocked it and
now it will stay open to you.� You just
don�t feel it now because you are tired.�
He rolled them so she was lying underneath him, �Well I am
willing to use up a little more energy,� he said leaning down to claim her
lips.
He kissed her with all of the passion he possessed, exploring
every bit of her mouth.� When he finally
pulled back for air he moved his hand down and started to slowly lift her
shirt.� He pulled it over her head and
started to kiss down her neck.� Kagome
felt like she was on fire, every kiss down her neck sending jolts through her.� She let out a small moan and reached down to
comb her fingers through his hair.
He reached under her and undid the clasp of her bra with no
problem.� She lifted her arms as he
pulled it off.� He grabbed her wrists and
pinned them over her head, telling her not to move them.� He then continued to kiss down her chest and

shuddered when she remembered how furious he had been.� He had dragged her down to the dungeon and
tied her to the concrete table in one of the rooms.�

in her back from the concrete.� Darkness
started to creep into the edges of her vision.�
Naraku jammed one of his tentacles into her
mouth causing the darkness to disappear.
�As I said, stay awake or I will make
this even worse for you,� Naraku sneered as disrobed.
Kagura heard the blood pounding in her ears
and she tried to pull away as he walked toward her.� A tentacle shot out from him and encircled
her waist holding her in place.
�Now as you know I can change my form,
well I can also change parts of my body.�

He smirked as Kagura�s
heart pounded faster and her eyes widened.�

tentacle.� She sighed in relief as he
pulled out of her only to cry out again as he pulled the tentacle out.� It scraped her insides as it slid out of her.
�Remember this Kagura,
if you ever fail me again I will make it worse next time,� he said in a cold
voice, �Now get dressed and go find them.�
He left the room after pulling on his
clothes.� Kagura
slowly sat up, her wrists now free from the chains.� She cried out as she sat up, the pain ripping
through her.� She slowly got up only to
fall as the pain ran up her spine.� It
took her a while but she finally managed to get dressed and made her way out of
the castle.��
Kagura shuddered at the memory,
she still hurt a little from the encounter.�
She knew she couldn�t fail, she didn�t want to
go through that again.� When she left Kanna had told her that Naraku
had also sent his insects out to find the group.� Kagura decided to
go back to where the last battle had taken place.� As she flew over the field all she saw was
two new graves and a field in ruins.�
She looked around and spread her senses, but she couldn�t
find anything.� She sat there for a
minute trying to decide if she should land and see if she could find a clue as
to where they went.� The field looked
empty enough, but she may be able to find a clue even after all this time.
