Hola, everyone! How have you guys been? Sorry for the semi-late update. Writer’s block…
I actually wrote another story in the meantime, and I urge you all to take a couple minutes out of your time to check it out. It’s called, “Always With You But Always Without You”. You can easily find it by just going to my author page. It’s not a Sess/Kag compilation, it’s Inu/Kag, but I still have high hopes! I put a lot of time in writing the first chapter, so if you do end up reading it, please leave a review! Shoutouts- Shelbie: Wow! I feel so flattered ;D Thanks so much for the interest and compliments! Patrce: I’m glad you’re liking it so far ;) There’s quite a lot to come in the future, so I can’t really tell you when they will be giving into temptation. But I promise it’ll be juicy and good when it does happen! Reastify: HAAHA. I made you review this. Thx qt <3 You receive a shoutout in return. Though this is probably the most boring shoutout of all. Whatev. Just curious, but how many of you are itching to see a lemon happen between Sessh and Kag? I am interested in how many of you would like me to hold this off as long as possible, or to see a little action soon. I will go with my initial plan, but I’m curious how many of you feel about the situation. ;D Anyway, here’s the chapter. I stayed up late last night writing it for you guys, since a certain someone fell asleep. /pout
Sesshoumaru had immediately left to see Kaede that night, not caring whether she had been asleep or not. His current state of distress needed to be dealt with before it got out of hand. He spoke to her until late in the morning, working out a plan of sorts for the miko-in-training. Despite the fact that Kaede didn’t like Kagome being forced to stay in the Taisho Clan’s domain and territory, she knew it was safer than staying with her own family. And Kagome’s safety is what mattered most. She had to prosper; she would be the only one to continue her bloodline once Kaede passed. Kaede knew very well of Kagome’s upcoming “heat”, and knew that the young miko would need her guidance in how to handle it. Especially around her Lord. Kaede knew much about demons and knew perfectly well that Sesshoumaru’s beast had fully recognized Kagome as something more than just a “slave”. It saw her as its intended. She wasn’t sure Sesshoumaru understood that yet, though. But regardless, what was most important was to keep her safe and to keep her existence as a miko unknown. If the information landed in the wrong hands, it was safe to assume there would be a war between Clans. Kaede was able to sense how strong Kagome was underneath the binding spell. She knew once it was removed that they would have more than just their Lord to worry about in seeking out her innocence. So, she insisted that they be moved to a more secure area with Miroku and Sango. That way, she would be able to see Kagome’s powers fully and train her correctly. Having her powers bound would make it much harder. She also agreed to place a barrier around their training area so that their auras were masked. She explained having Miroku there to help with the masking spell was essential, at least until Kagome was able to do her part as well. The barrier spell required a lot of energy. This worked out great for Sesshoumaru, who already planned to send Miroku. However, he still required that Sango go along with them. Kaede didn’t mind this in the least, she knew that they would need protection in a more physical standpoint anyway. Most of the time she, Miroku and Kagome would be using their energy to work on Kagome’s holy powers. They would be too drained to defend themselves, should they have to. When Kaede pointed this out, Sesshoumaru decided to up the protection, and ended up deciding to have more of his human lackeys go along with them. Kaede agreed and then that was that. Sesshoumaru left hours later, after going over almost every excruciating detail on this little trip, to decide the best area to place them for Kagome’s training. He already decided ahead of time that he, himself, would be escorting the troupe. He wasn’t about to let what happened at the hot springs happen again. He also would be making regular visits, of which would be decided on before they left so that Kaede may prepare the younger miko for his arrival. Sesshoumaru reached his private chambers, his library-like chambers, where he could put down his guard. At least, if you count relaxing to be putting down your guard. Sesshoumaru slumped down in the chair facing the window. He watched the snow fall from the sky above him, covering the trees outside with heavy blankets of white. Do not make mate leave. His inner-self spoke to him out of nowhere, except everywhere at the same time. It was a part of him, and knew the stress bared on his shoulders. He had fought wars, killed many, tortured innocents, helped none without a second thought, and wiped the Earth clean from the existence of the Miko race. Yet, here he was faced with the lone survivor. One that had made it through somehow. And he couldn’t kill her. What was worse, though, was that he couldn’t bear to be without her. And he was sending her away so that he would be. Never had he felt confusion such as this. It caused him distress he was not familiar with, and it had left an unwanted feeling of emptiness. It did not feel right to be sending her away, but he believed he would go insane if he did not. He didn’t know what was worse. To be without her and to feel such a way as he did now, or to be with her and respond to her like a ticking bomb-- with just a matter of time before it’s set off. He was in the middle of a takeover of another Clan. He couldn’t afford to not have composure. We have no choice. Sesshoumaru made his decision. There was no going back. ~~~~ Kagome woke the next morning to the sounds of people bustling around in her room. Yawning, Kagome sat up. She briefly rubbed the sleep out of her eyes before surveying her room. Two maids, one she recognized upon her arrival, were quickly re-packing the clothes that had previously been unpacked and placed into the dressers and drawers before. They were quickly putting all of “her” things into suitcases and then taking them somewhere once they were finished. “What are you doing?” Kagome asked one of the maids. “Packing your things, M’lady.” “What for? I just got here.” “And it is very sad to see you go. But, you are going to be leaving today for your training.” The maid continued packing her things. “Training?” Kagome’s face lit up at that and quickly got up out of bed. “Mhm!” Kagome rushed into the bathroom to brush her teeth, glad to see that her feminine products had not been packed yet. “And why are you packing stuff up? Won’t I just be able to do my training somewhere in the Mansion?” “No, M’lady. But I’m afraid I’m not allowed to tell you the whereabouts of where you’re going. Only that you’re going far away.” Kagome had begun putting toothpaste onto her toothbrush and was about to begin brushing right before as the maid spoke. “Far away?” Kagome faltered momentarily, feeling something squeeze at her heart. “Yes. That is all I know.” The maid bowed in Kagome’s direction before taking one of her suitcases out and to whatever place she had to take it. Kagome brushed her teeth quickly then jumped into the shower. She wasn’t too sure how to respond to that. On one hand she was extremely eager to begin her training. She would finally begin to learn her history. But on the other hand, she couldn’t help the feeling that this was all Sesshoumaru’s way of getting rid of her. Kagome was in the middle of rubbing the shampoo through her hair when she remembered what had happened the prior day. He had been gentle with her despite his rough-like manner. His gentle touch burned her skin and caused her to blush just at the thought. He had definitely been holding back, she could tell, but he had been good. Just for her. Kagome just didn’t understand how he could go from being so attentive and gentle to cold and dismissive. He had even said it was a mistake. That had struck her good, she wasn’t expecting to hear that. So that’s it. He was sending her away because she was getting in the way of his normal life. He was probably doing this because she was being a hassle to him now. She had walked in on him mating for gods sake. And then had run off like a spoiled little girl who watched her first true crush do something unspeakable to his wife. She was at fault. Not him. Kagome finished taking her shower and dried off quickly. She noticed her feminine products were now gone, probably packed, and there was a change of clothing sitting on the counter. Dropping the towel, she quickly changed into the clothes provided and made her way out of the bathroom. “Kagome!” Kagome looked up to see her friend coming towards her, “Sango?!” Before Kagome had a chance to react, Sango had crushed her into a hard hug. “Sango, where have you been?” Kagome returned the hug, albeit as much force. “Oh, Kagome! I missed you so much! I’m sorry. I couldn’t get in touch with you. Oh, god Kagome, I am so sorry.” Sango sounded like she was on the verge of crying. “Sango, it’s okay. But you’re crushing me and it’s kind of hard to breathe.” Kagome said a little breathless. Sango lessened her grip and pulled back a bit, looking Kagome in the face. “Oh, Kagome. I’m sorry. I couldn’t protect you. The people with us had been given order by someone to separate us and ended up drugging me. I had been in extensive care for about three weeks. I’m so sorry.” Sango pulled Kagome into a hard hug again. “Three weeks! You had to have been in bad shape. Are you okay?!” Sango pulled back again, “I’m fine, although… I wasn’t nearly in as bad shape as you, I heard.” She gave Kagome a knowing look. Kagome looked downwards, “I’ve never felt something like that before, and I hope to never again. But Sesshoumaru saved me and looked after me. I think I would have died if he wasn’t there.” Sango pressed her forehead against Kagome’s, “I promise to never leave you like that again. I should have been paying more attention to you. It’s my fault.” Kagome smiled to herself, “All that matters is that you’re here now and we’re both okay.” Sango smiled as well, simply enjoying their short moment together. “Well, well. Don’t stop on my behalf, please. Continue.” Kagome and Sango both looked towards the entrance to the room, finding Miroku there pulling out a chair for him to sit in. “Hentai.” Kagome said endearingly. Miroku smiled and then came over to the two women, opening his arms wide as if to receive a hug. “Ah, the sweet moment of reconciliation. Come, Sango. Come into my arms so that I may soothe your soul from the weight you bear of leaving poor Kagome in the winter storm.” And before he even knew it, Miroku had face-planted into the ground, with Sango dragging Kagome out of the room. “Kagome, I’m not sure how much you know right now, but we’re leaving today to start your miko training.” Sango looked back at her companion briefly. Kagome nodded, “That’s about all I know. And that it’s far away.” “We’ll still be on Taisho territory, but will be about five day’s walk away. We’re going to be up in the mountains.” “We’re going to be walking for five days?!” “No, it’s not possible for a human. And barely for demons, too. It’s literally a cliff, so if one were to make the wrong move and slip, they’d definitely be goners.” “Then how are we going to get there?” “By flying.” “Flying… A plane?” “Kagome, come on. Have you never ridden a dragon before? Planes are so 21st century.” “Hey! I’ll have you know that planes are still very reasonable.” “I’ll take that as a no.” Sango had been guiding them to the Taisho entryway, and came to a halt as they reached the stairs that descended to their destination. “Is there anything left you want to take? There’s no say in how long we’re going to be gone.” “You make it sound like it’s going to be weeks.” “It very well could be. Or longer.” “Really?” Kagome looked over at Sango. Sango nodded. Just then, Kagome noticed the elderly woman she had met before. Kaede. She was walking around with a cane in her left hand and her other balled into a fist behind her back. Kagome smiled, remembering that this was really happening. That she was about to begin her actual training to becoming a miko. Kagome let go of Sango’s hand and rushed down the stairs towards the older woman, rushing her into a hug upon reaching her. “Oi, child. These bones of mine are much weaker than they once were. Ye must be gentle.” Kaede chuckled as she patted Kagome on the back. “It’s really happening, isn’t it? I’m really going to become a true miko, now, aren’t I?” Kagome beemed as she pulled away from Kaede. “Aye, child.” Kaede smiled towards her new pupil. Sango appeared next to Kagome’s side and waved to the older woman, “I’m Sango. Nice to meet you.” Kaede bowed respectfully, “Ye will be our protection on this journey, will ye not?” “I’m not the only one, but yes.” Miroku then came to stand on the other side of Kagome, “And I am Miroku. Pleased to meet you, Lady Kaede. I have heard many great things about you. You are said to be one of the greatest of your kind.” Kaede chuckled again, “I shan’t say I was one of the greatest, but I do have the knowledge to pass down to one that will be.” Kagome blushed, but was interrupted by the sound of people coming towards them. Six guards were flanking one man, one Kagome recognized as the person who instructed Miroku to heal her the night she had been abducted. “Great to see everyone’s on time for once. Our Lord will be joining us for this trek and so I expect the utmost respect out of each and every one of you to be graced by his presence for such a trivial task. Why he is coming is beyond me, but you should all be thanking the Gods that he will be joining us.” Upon hearing his voice, Kagome recognized the man to be the same as the one who so easily abused, physically and verbally, the maid she had befriended early on. “Now, I will be leading this operation. That is to mean that I will be setting up the schedule for the training, for meals, for sleep, and anything else I feel like requiring you to do. If you cannot follow these simple directions, then you will be dealt with accordingly.” Kagome frowned. This wasn’t a boot camp she was being sent off to, was it? This was supposed to be a magical experience between mentor and student. She was supposed to learn of her ancestry and then learn to harness the powers within her that so eagerly wanted to come out. Before she could think anything more of it, Sesshoumaru, along with the man with green eyes Kagome also recognized, walked into the room. “My Lord,” the boot-camp-attitude-man spoke before bowing. The guards behind him followed suit. Sango, Miroku, and even Kaede all mimicked their actions. Kagome was the only one left out, unsure of what to do. She looked at the people around her, then straight at Sesshoumaru, who was staring straight back at her. It was as if he was ordering her to respect him without having to say the words. Swallowing hard, Kagome robotically bowed before him. For some reason, Sesshoumaru disliked seeing her bow in front of him as if she were no better than those around her. However, he also enjoyed her submitting to him as she was. Walking towards the front doors, Sesshoumaru waited for the guards to open them up. The sun streamed in around him, the warm breeze brushing past him. He walked forward, the man with green eyes close behind him. He made his way out of the Mansion and into the front courtyard. It was then that everyone stopped bowing and followed their Lord outside. Kagome just followed Sango, not entirely sure what was going on. Miroku and Sango were both standing close to her on either side of her, as if to show her the way, but also not allow her to get away if she were to try to. That thought alone made her worry a bit. Her magical dreams of becoming a real miko turned into boot camp, and the thought of finally having true friends now seemed to be an illusion. She just hoped that this wasn’t turning into a nightmare. The group came to a stop as they reached the courtyard in front of Sesshoumaru, who was now facing towards them. Immediately everyone moved to the sidelines, knowing what he was searching for in the crowd of people. Sango and Miroku almost moved aside for him, and again Kagome was left frazzled with uncertainty. She looked to her “friends”, wanting their help, but their heads were bowed to their Lord. Kagome had no choice but to look towards the towering demon ahead of her. He looked sternly at her, his mask was harder than ever. All those memories of his gentleness flew out the window. That Sesshoumaru was just a delusion. He was not a warm, gentle creature. He did not care about her feelings. He didn’t show her affection because she wanted it. He did it because it was a show he needed to put on in order to gain the upper hand. It was all just a way of making her shut up. Maybe if she hadn’t reacted so strongly to him and Kagura he wouldn’t be looking at her like this. It made her heart clench in just the right way to make it most painful. Maybe then he wouldn’t be sending her off and would allow her to at least enjoy the greenhouse she had found. Sesshoumaru broke her thoughts by outstretching his hand, waiting for her to comply. Kagome looked to his hand, before looking back up to his face. She clutched the hem of her shirt and then walked towards her Lord. As the final steps neared she reached out to him, putting her smaller one into his. His hand was warm against hers. The first contact sent a jolt of electricity through both of them, and it caused Kagome to gasp. Sesshoumaru’s mask faltered, and he couldn’t help but turn his face into a snarl at his lack of composure. He quickly turned away and pulled her with him towards the dragon that had randomly appeared in the courtyard. No, not random. It had green eyes… The same as the man that had followed Sesshoumaru earlier. Sesshoumaru came up to the side of the dragon before turning and putting an arm around Kagome’s waist. He swiftly jumped up and landed on the back of the dragon, a saddle already in place. He sat down first before pulling Kagome in front of him, then wrapped something around her waist. Her back was completely against his chest, and she couldn’t fight the blush from rising to her cheeks. Sesshoumaru noticed the change in her aura immediately, but fought with himself to ignore it. He knew it was a bad move to have her sit with him, but he didn’t trust anyone else to fly her to the training area except himself. Or at least, that’s what the kept telling himself. “Go.” Sesshoumaru spoke in his baritone voice. The large dragon began to move its strong wings and take off of the ground. Kagome tensed and held onto Sesshoumaru’s hand that had remained on her waist from pulling her up. Sesshoumaru decided to take advantage of this ride with the miko. It was going to be their last encounter for a while, and despite his logical side telling him not to, he just couldn’t help but to let go for once. Kagome pressed herself further into Sesshoumaru as the world below her became smaller. She noticed more dragons coming down to the courtyard to begin their journey. Sesshoumaru pulled her against him tighter and pressed his nose against the side of her throat, breathing in her scent for what may have been the last time for a long while. The more he indulged himself in letting go, the more he realized it was a better decision to have her leave. She was already making him make irrational decisions. He was just glad he was able to hold out long enough to make this decision before he had this current lapse in judgment. …However, he was still going to enjoy this time with her. ~~~~ The flight to the training camp took a couple hours. It looked like the reason it would take so many days by foot was because of it being so far up in the mountains. Being able to fly made it go by much faster. As soon as the training camp came into view, Kagome was able to make out a small village. There were children waving as they came in closer, and it made Kagome smile. At least she wasn’t going to be left out here with only her drill sergeants as company. Sesshoumaru took his last chance. He pulled her hair to the side, then pressed his fangs against the side of her neck. He trailed them down to the juncture between her neck and shoulder, then pressed lightly. He broke the skin only slightly and then pulled back before he was able to taste her blood. He knew that would set him off for good. He quickly placed two fingers against the newly formed holes and inserted just a bit of his poison. Bringing his mouth close to her ear, he spoke, “You will be no one else’s.” And then at that moment, they landed. Kagome had frozen as soon as she felt his mouth against her neck. He was causing her so much confusion she didn’t know what to think anymore. And then those few words… They were her undoing. It made her melt and caused her to feel enraged at the same time. How dare he act as if he can decide for me?! I am my own person and I will be with who I please! …Even though it would probably be him. Sesshoumaru simply dropped her off before leaving, with the other dragons close behind. Kagome stared off where Sesshoumaru had just left from. He had left her here, after those words and after what he had just done to her neck… Her neck. Wait, what? What was that anyway? Kagome pressed her hand over the mark and winced slightly, the poison still evidently affecting her. It wouldn’t make sense if he were trying to kill me here. So… What was that then? Before Kagome could answer her own questions, the rest of her companions arrived. It was getting close to sundown and all the people of the village were eager to meet their newest guests. Sango came up to Kagome, “That was a long ride. I’m sure you’re tired. We should get some food then rest. We have a lot of work ahead of us tomorrow, and by the looks of it… We’re going to have that asshole” Sango gestured to the man who had six guards flanking him, “as the guy in charge.” Kagome sighed, but nodded. She was tired, it seemed as if part of her had left with Sesshoumaru. She did not feel whole anymore, and it made her feel exhausted. Like her batteries were all used up. Sango didn’t understand Kagome’s change in mood from when they were at the Mansion, to now, but she assumed it was just exhaustion. She wrapped her arm around Kagome’s shoulders and then headed towards the village. Miroku had landed moments after and came up on the other side of Kagome. He noticed her mood change as well, and decided for the time being his joking would not be appropriate. So, he simply grabbed onto her hand and held on tight, trying to show that he would be there through thick and thin. Whatever they were about to face here at the camp, Sango and Miroku both vowed to watch out for her. As protector and friend. ~~~~ Sesshoumaru didn’t look back as he made his leave. He already began feeling the weight increase on his shoulders. That emptiness he had felt was coming back full force. It almost made him feel sick. It did not feel right to be so far from her. But there could be nothing done about it now. Regardless of his feelings on the matter, Kagome did need to enhance her miko powers before she would never be able to. If for whatever reason she no longer resided in his territory, she would need to be able to defend herself. She was currently the most powerful person, or weapon to some degree, in the world. She just had no idea how to use it yet. But others would, and they would find her. Misuse her. That part made his blood churn. No one else would lay a finger on her. Not now, not ever. If anyone would, it would be him and him only. Sesshoumaru frowned, this empty feeling he felt deep within himself continued to grow and it increased his frustration. He would just have to forget about her for now. There was nothing else he could do. There were more important matters on hand. Like… Nothing more important than mate. Sesshoumaru sighed internally. He wasn’t sure how he was going to cope for the next while. But all he knew was… He had to.
Okay, I’m sorry if the ending seems rushed but I got really tired about halfway through. So, I’m sorry ;( Please don’t hate me! I am going to go sleep now. F u, person who passed out. Please leave a review! -Cherry P.S. ily
