                Helaku’s family came the following week as promised. He ran to his mother the second she stepped off the boat that brought her over. Wrapping her in the tightest hug he could without hurting her. Sesshomaru watched from the porch of the beach house, not wanting to intrude on the moment. He saw the rest of his family come from the boat, Helaku hugging each family member before taking his mother’s bags and escorting them up to the house.
                Sesshomaru stood up from his spot at his table as they approached. His mother, his father, two brothers, a sister-in-law and two younger children. The only family member not intimidated by him was his mother. She approached the emperor and smiled, hugging him as if he was a member of her family, “Hello! Thank you for the vacation!”
                Sesshomaru awkwardly patted her shoulder and Helaku laughed at him, “Sesshomaru, this is my mother Kamillia Foxx. Father Shawn Foxx and brothers James and Everette. This is James’ wife Elise and my nieces Sara and Regan.”
                Sesshomaru offered a small bow to them before gesturing to the beach house, “It is wonderful to meet you all. Please, come in.”
                He gave his drink to the barkeeper so they wouldn’t need to pick it up and then took them inside. There was a tour of the home before he showed them the rooms he’d had set up for them. Helaku helped his family settle in, Sesshomaru going to their room to sit on the balcony with a book. It wasn’t long for him to feel prying eyes settling in on his back. He slowly turned his body, eyes settling on the two young girls that called his love uncle.
                They gasped when he saw them, giggling and running back inside from their balcony. He could hear their parents asking them what they were doing before James poked his head out and saw him sinking back into relaxation with his book, “S-s-sorry!”
                He gave a wave over his head to indicate it was fine and he laughed to himself as he heard James’ voice hissing to his girls to leave the emperor alone. They were too young to understand, Sesshomaru knew they couldn’t possibly grasp why their parents would have a problem with them stirring up mischief with him. Sesshomaru was more than happy to indulge in mischief with children, he was a pretty great grandfather after all.
                Helaku popped into the bedroom closer to lunch time, finding Sesshomaru sprawled in his lounging chair under his balcony’s umbrella still. He was asleep and Helaku carefully walked over, leaning down and kissing him softly. His eyes fluttered open and he raised a hand, hand tangling into the hair at the back of Helaku’s neck as he gratefully kissed him back, “Hello little fox, is your family comfortable?”
                “Yeah, they’re changing into their bathing suits and heading for the beach, want to come down with us?” Helaku grinned, pulling away just enough he could see most of Sesshomaru’s face. Sesshomaru placed a few more small, quick kisses to his lips and cheeks before letting go of him and peeling himself from the chair. He heard giggles again and peered back behind him, Helaku’s eyes snapping in the direction of his nieces.
                “Uncle Helaku is kissing a boy!” Regan squealed as she ran back in to her parents. Helaku rolled his eyes and then looked at Sesshomaru who was laughing quietly.
                “Sounds like you better stop kissing boys, you’re gonna get in trouble,” Sesshomaru stood up, patting his ass before walking into their room.
                “I don’t think my mate is going to like it if I stop kissing boys,” Helaku followed him, stopping to wave to his brother who was poking his head out for another apology. He gave a big smile and continued inside, sliding the door shut.
                Sesshomuaru’s shirt was off as he turned his eyes back, he couldn’t help but give a low appreciative noise in his throat. He knew his lover heard him when he saw him flex his lithe muscles, “That’s just pitiful Sess. Better have’em if you’re gonna flex’em.”
                Helaku flexed his own muscles getting a much more impressive result. He grinned as he saw the displeasure on his love’s face, quick to come to his side to let him know he was teasing him by tucking his head under his chin as he wrapped his arms around his waist. Heat rolled off Sesshomaru from being outside and he couldn’t help but snuggle against his exposed skin. Arms wrapped around him quickly, fingers rubbing lightly against his spine to hold him close.
                They moved away from each other after a moment, Sesshomaru resuming changing into his swim trunks and applying sunscreen. Helaku changed as well before the two of them left their room hand in hand. At the bottom of the stairs they were met with most of his family, gawking at the emperor momentarily. Helaku cleared his throat, giving his family a look that snapped them out of it. He kissed Sesshomaru’s cheek before they resumed walking out to the beach.
                Sess stopped and got them both a drink, taking his time down to get down to the beach. He was beginning to think this had been a mistake but reasoned they had only been here for a few hours. He hoped Helaku’s family could relax around him after a little bit. Everett was on his way back up from picking a chair and awkwardly skirted around him as he went to the bar himself.
                “Get anything you want, it’s all paid for already,” He nodded to Everett as he saw him fumbling in his pocket. He could only assume it was his wallet.
                Everett stopped walking, giving a tight nod before resuming up the steps. He sighed, only temporary, he was likeable, right? Helaku liked him. He shook his head, trying to knock the thought from his mind as he made it to their spot. He put their drinks on the table between their chairs and looked to Helaku. He knew his mate could feel his insecurity in the situation and Helaku gave a supportive smile before reaching for him.
                His eyes reflexively scanned who was around and Helaku’s fingers wiggled at him. He gave him his hand, letting him pull himself in close, focusing back on him. Helaku kissed him lovingly before grinning, “It’s fine, you’re the emperor, they just need to get used to you.”
                “You’re right and I know you’re right. It’s just awkward,” it took a lot for him relax enough to give Helaku a little smile. Sesshomaru gave him a small kiss before looking out into the water. He walked out, wading into the crystal clear water, feeling his toes sink into the white sands.
                He dunked his head into the water once he was out far enough and when he pulled his head back up, Helaku was walking towards him. He turned his body, floating, using his arms to push his body closer. Sesshomaru reached and pulled him, seeing the two little girls on the beach he glanced to Helaku relaxing. It was a split second decision but he quickly moved his hands, dunking his lover under the water.
                Helaku spluttered and thrashed as he tried to get his feet on the ground. Sesshomaru laughed that warm laugh Helaku adored as the girls laughed with him. Helaku looked at Sesshomaru, glaring slightly before splashing him. He was surprised to receive a splash in retaliation, seeing the playful glint in his eyes. His family was just staring from the shore before the girls rushed in to join the fun.
                “Whoa, whoa! Hold on, let us get closer! You don’t have your floaties on!” Helaku quickly moved closer to shore so they could stand. Sesshomaru came with him, choosing to sit in the water once he reached a point most of his body was out of the water.
                “Do you girls need floaties or do you have them? I can get some from the house,” Sesshomaru blocked a splash of water coming for his face before flipping water gently back at the girls. They giggled, doubling up to throw water at him.
                “They have floaties,” Elise piped in as she approached them. She paused the game, sliding the little inflated rings around their arms. Sesshomaru nodded to her and then looked at the girls a moment before standing up. He excused himself, walking briskly back to the house.
                Helaku was worried for a moment before he came back down. He stopped and took a drink from his cup before returning to the water. He gave him a questioning look before Sesshomaru just gave him a shrug as he sat back down. The girls giggled, splashing him again.
                “That’s right! Avenge me!” Helaku egged them on before joining in the splashing. Sesshomaru blocked most of the water, splashing back when there were openings. He was careful, making sure not to fling too much at the little ones.
                In moments, a few servants came down hauling inflated tubes. There were two huge unicorn shaped floats and some other floats his own kids kept stored at the house. They laid them out in the sand and Sesshomaru gave them a thankful wave. Helaku smirked at him as the girls ran squealing to the huge unicorns.
                Helaku crawled to him, “You did not have to do that.”
                “What little girl doesn’t love a unicorn?” Sesshomaru got up and helped one of the girls onto the float before gently pulling it out into the water. Helaku followed, giving a thumbs up to their dad before taking the other out into the water on a float.
                “Uncle Helaku! Look at me!” Sara was delighted as Sesshomaru pulled her along in the water. She grasped the unicorn’s neck, enjoying the ride.
                “Wow! That looks like so much fun! Make sure to let Uncle Sesshomaru know if you’re slipping, okay?” She peered around at Sess and grinned. Helaku laughed as she asked her ‘horsey’ to go faster and Sesshomaru put the effort in to appease her.
                “I want to go faster too! Please?” Regan looked to him. Helaku nodded and caught up with Sesshomaru. They pulled them around for just a bit longer before they returned them to shore when lunch came down from the house.
                Sesshomaru gladly sat in his chair, drinking and thanking the person who sat their lunch on their table. His shoulders and nose were a light pink and Helaku was quick to notice, “You’re burning. We need to get some more sunscreen on you, babe.”
                “I told you I burn easy,” Sesshomaru commented conversationally before taking a bite of his lunch. They both looked up when they heard chairs being scooted closer to theirs and Helaku gave the biggest grin he could as his family sat up around them.
                “So, uh, how’s life going in the capital?” Shawn situated back down with his plate.
                “It’s getting better. We finally finished reconstruction on the palace, things are falling back into their normal rhythm,” Sesshomaru responded, surprising in that it wasn’t who he expected to respond.
                “I heard about that attack, we were pretty worried for our boy,” Shawn nodded, trying to settle into talking to the most powerful man in the realms casually.
                “It was pretty terrifying, I can understand that. I was worried myself, but I kept him safe,” Helaku felt a pit in his heart when he remembered Sesshomaru taking that blade through his body for him. Their eyes connected, no one else knew he died that night. He reached out, placing his hand on Sess’s knee to ground himself and squeezed. Sesshomaru comforted him through their bond.
                “We’re extremely thankful for that,” Kamillia joined the conversation, pinching her boy’s arm lovingly.
                “Mom, no pinching,” Helaku laughed. He was the youngest and it was very apparent the way Kamillia treated him. They had an enjoyable lunch, everyone getting used to each other. As soon as the girls were done eating, they were begging Sesshomaru to take them back out into the water. James tried to stop them but Sesshomaru raised his hand and shook his head to him.
                “Girls, I would love to take you back out. Give me just a moment to finish my lunch, okay?” He gave them a smile, eating his food a little more quickly. Elise was grinning, hand on her husband’s shoulder to relax him. Regan and Sara ran around on the beach while they waited.
                A good chunk of the afternoon was spent on the beach. The girls dragged the emperor into the water and then after a bit back up on the beach to build a sand castle. Helaku had to laugh at the way he used logic to build the most stable sand sculpture he’d ever seen. Uncle Sesshomaru was a hit and he was pretty happy.
                The adults were relaxing in the water, watching. Everett looked to Helaku, “How’d you manage to swing this?”
                “Honestly? I have no fucking clue,” Helaku laughed. He watched his love adoringly. He’d pulled the chair, table and umbrella to get out of the sun as he sat with the girls.
                “I did not imagine he’d be so patient with the girls,” Elise chimed in.
                “He loves kids,” Helaku smiled to her, “This is exactly how I imagined he’d be with them just with more smiling. He doesn’t smile or laugh with anyone but me usually.”
                “Really? That’s crazy! I mean, when you see him on television he doesn’t how any emotions but he’s like that all the time?” Elise was surprised as he nodded, sipping a beer he’d had brought down to him.
                “Heh, so is he like, that way when you’re together then?” Everett gave a dumb laugh.
                “No. Lucifer, why the hell would you bring that up? Mom and dad are here, I don’t want to talk about my sex life with any of you but especially not them,” Helaku’s nose scrunched up. Everett continued laughing at his baby brother, elbowing him.
                “Yeah, I don’t really want to think about Helaku sleeping with someone,” James floated near his wife, looking over his shoulder.
                “Aw c’mon James, you don’t want to know what an emotionless guy is like in bed? It’s gotta be pretty boring sex,” Everett continued to prod at the subject.
                “Leave your brother alone,” Kamillia interjected, she was floating while Shawn anchored her in his arms.
                “He’s not emotionless and if you were paying attention, you would’ve heard me say he’s not like that when we’re alone. Stop asking,” Helaku’s face was beginning to burn.
                As soon as Everett opened his mouth with more questions Helaku sighed and headed for the shore. His brother laughed, James splashing him in the face in defense of the youngest. Elise followed Helaku, their parents moving away as the oldest and middle child had a water fight.
                Sesshomaru looked at Helaku as he sunk down on the chair next to him. There was a question in his eyes but he didn’t ask and instead gently squeezed his thigh. Elise sat with them, impressed with their sand castle. Helaku pressed his forehead to Sesshomaru’s after a second and shut his eyes, “Can we go up to the house for a minute? My brother is pissing me off.”
                “Of course little fox,” Sesshomaru murmured back to him. He pressed a kiss to his lips and then started getting up, looking at the girls as they squealed in playful disgust. Elise tried to stop them but Sesshomaru just chuckled, walking Helaku up to the house.
                In the house, Helaku led the way back up to their room. They both changed out of their trunks, Helaku pulling Sesshomaru into the bathroom so they could wash up, “What’s wrong?”
                “Everett kept talking about our sex life and I told him to stop. He thinks we have boring sex because he thinks you’re boring and it just made me mad he’d think that about you,” Helaku sighed as they stepped into the shower. Sess wrapped him up in his arms, kissing his neck a couple times.
                “Little fox, I don’t give a shit if your brother thinks I’m boring. What’s important is that I give you what you need in this relationship, do you think our sex life is boring?” Sess looked to him, reaching for the shampoo with one arm still around Helaku.
                “No, I love our sex life,” Helaku smirked as he watched Sesshomaru squirt shampoo into his hand and started washing his hair, “You gonna let me get your hair too?”
                “No. I’m pretty particular about my hair,” Sesshomaru looked to him and then pressed a kiss to his forehead before continuing to lather. The more his fingers massaged his scalp, the more Helaku’s mind began to wander. His eyes slid closed as he started to get into it, they left and he felt Sesshomaru rinsing his hair out.                 Sesshomaru began to wash him next, pampering him with a coconut scented soap. He washed everywhere, avoiding his manhood until last.                 A soft knock came on the door and they both froze. They prayed for the quiet voice of the maid letting them know it was dinner time but instead Kamillia’s voice filtered through, “Erm, boys? Or—uh… Helaku honey, are you okay? We heard yelling.”
                “Yeah, yeah I’m fine mom,” His face turned crimson. Sesshomaru kissed his head, snorting slightly. While embarrassed, he had to admit the situation was pretty funny. If he’d heard his sons screaming like that he’d of done the same.
                They cleaned up and dressed before heading down to rejoin the family. Helaku found it hard to look at his mother for a little bit but his brothers were worse. Everett kept giving him a look telling him he knew what they were doing and James tried his best to pretend nothing had happened, which in turn made it very clear everyone knew what had happened.
                Sesshomaru kept his arm around him the rest of the night, gently rubbing his shoulder or his elbow at each sign of discomfort. His beast wrapped around him like a warm blanket, loving and tender to support him through his embarrassment. As they went to bed, Everett finally grinned to Helaku, “I guess I was wrong, sounds like it was a pretty good time.”
                He cackled as his baby brother punched his arm before being dragged away by his future husband, “Everett! When he lets me go I’m going to fuck you up so bad!”
                “Goodnight Everett,” Sesshomaru’s voice crooned, moving to hoist Helaku over his shoulder making his brother laugh harder.
