Cats and Dogs

Sit Down, Shut Up,
and Spit It Out Already!

Darkness
settled around the world like a dark sheath. Riquo had just made it back in
time before it became too dark�not that it mattered. Hakkaku and Ginta ran out
of the den to greet them, both of them supporting Kagome. She stared in awe at
the sight of Riquo transformed again coming towards them in the distance at
full speed. It still amazed her how magnificent she looked transformed. Riquo
slowed down just enough to stop right before them. Kouga�s men trailed behind
about a mile back.

Kagome smiled; glad to see that Riquo had made it out alive.
This time, she would make sure that her friend never disappeared again. Riquo
turned so her left side faced them and slowly crouched herself down. Kagome
frowned noticing that her legs quivered as she did so. When Riquo gently
thumped down on the ground Kagome saw what she�d been dreading for the entire
day.

�KOUGA!� she cried.

She shook herself free of Hakkaku and Ginta, much to their
protest and stumbled towards the unconscious Kouga. Unfortunately, her demon
abilities hadn�t quite kicked in yet, and her crotch hurt like hell, thus she
fell forward.

�Kagome no!� yelled Inuyasha.

Kagome thrust out her hands and squeezed her eyes shut,
waiting for the ground and her face to meet. Luckily for her, she didn�t have
to imitate Inuyasha when she �sat� him. Riquo lashed out her tail and wrapped
it around the half demon girl and brought her towards her face. Kagome opened
her eyes to see a big red and green eye looking at her.

Kagome giggled, �Riquo how many times are we going to be
saving each other?�

Riquo didn�t make any kind of response. She just continued
to stare. Then she jutted her head forward slightly and sniffed. Hakkaku and
Ginta came up behind her and retrieved Kagome from Riquo�s tail.

�Are you okay sister?�

�Did you wound yourself again?�

�No I�m fine, thank you.�

Inuyasha snorted, while picking up the
limp Kouga and handing him to Ginta. He knew what Riquo was thinking. And
he knew that they all had a lot to talk about�after they rest. Inuyasha
snickered. Well, talking will have to
wait after we rest he thought patting his mate�s side besides, I haven�t seen my mate in a while. Riquo cocked her head
to look at him and he felt her purr under his hand. He smiled and winked at her
and he saw a twinkle in her eye.

�Inuyasha.�

�Hmm? Yea
Kagome?�

�Sit.�

WHOMP!

Kagome giggled as Inuyasha made a my-size crater in the
ground next to Riquo.

�Damn you Kagome,� Inuyasha mumbled into the ground. He knew
it was for the best; at least he was back to his old self again, even though
mentally it didn�t seem like he had changed transformed.

When Miroku and Sango
were the last to get off, everyone backed up to let Riquo transform. She slowly
stood, her legs shaking even more than before this time, and she stretched her
long body, releasing all the kinks in it. When she stood up right again, her
legs shook so much that she collapsed onto the ground from exhaustion.

�RIQUO!� Inuyasha screamed.

�Take Kouga inside; the rest of you should go in and get
yourselves comfortable; we have a lot to talk about,� he said before rushing
over to Riquo.

Hakkaku and Ginta nodded and carried Kouga inside. Miroku
and Kagome started to walk inside when Miroku realized Sango was standing
completely still.

He turned around to her, �Sango? Is something wrong?�

Still she stood there, almost catatonic, �K-Kagome�?� she
said, stunned.

Making the connection faster than anyone would have given him credit for,
Miroku gently grabbed Sango�s arm and started pulling her inside.

�Come in, Sango, we can discuss it in there. A lot has
happened while you and Riquo were taken captive,� Miroku said soothingly.

Inuyasha watched Miroku escort the bewildered Sango and then
turned back to Riquo�s exhausted form. She lay on the ground panting heavily.
Inuyasha did the only thing he knew would work, he petted her. He sat in the
crevice between her shoulder and her neck and he stroked her soft fur behind
her ear. He should have known this would have happened. She fought in this form
and she carried them all home in this form�completely exhausted. Well�not everyone he thought as the rest
of Kouga�s clan dragged themselves past him, tired as well.

Inuyasha heard Riquo grunt and turned around just in time to
get blinded but her trademark red light that shot out of her body. Her body
shrank at a rapid rate and Inuyasha fell backwards from the loss of support.
Inuyasha cursed under his breath and growled when he heard Riquo giggle. He
righted himself only to come face to face with two huge green eyes. They stared
at each other for a while, transmitting all their love and devotion through the
connection with their eyes. Then Riquo dropped herself onto his chest in a
tight embrace.

She sniffled, �I missed you so much.�

Inuyasha wrapped his arms around her waist and picked her
up, carrying her bridal style, �I missed you too, I�m glad I got you back.�

Riquo smiled against his chest as he carried her back inside
the den. He carefully stepped over all the sleeping forms of wolves and men and
making his way to Kouga�s pallet, where Kouga, Kagome, Miroku, and Sango were.
Shippo sat in Kagome and Kouga�s lap with Ebony at his side. Kilala lay rolled
up in a corner sleeping and Sango and Miroku sat next to each other against the
wall of the room. Sango was crying hysterically and Kagome had her face buried
in her hands.

Taking in the scene, and wanting some answers herself, Riquo let herself down from Inuyasha's grasp;
stumbling slighting until he put his hands on her waist and sat her down with
him on the pallet. Riquo looked Kagome over, head to toe. Round beige ears, blue cat eyes, fangs, claws, beige tail with spots
and rings�oh my God. She sighed. What
happened to her?

Suddenly Sango bolted up and ran towards Kouga, pulling a
dagger out of her boot.backbacked himself quickly against the wall and Sango
got right up in his face, dagger to his neck.

�What did you do to her?!� she yelled, tears streaming down
her face.

�Sango no!� Kagome cried.

Inuyasha and Miroku shifted to stand but a small growl from
Riquo stilled them. This was a time for woman
reasoning.

Riquo stood firmly and calmly said, �That�s enough of that
Sango. Put the dagger down.�

Sango whirled around, but kept the dagger against Kouga�s
throat, �How can you be so calm?! Look what he did to her! That is not Kagome!
He did this to her and he must pay!�

Riquo kept a stoic expression and calmly spoke again, �True,
I think Kouga did have something to do with this, but from the look on his face
I highly doubt it was intentional and that he knew about it.�

�I will not let
him get away with this!� Sango seethed.

Riquo chuckled, �You may want to jump to conclusions,� she
stopped laughing and her expression became one of serious intention, �but right
now you�re holding a dagger against one of my fellow demons and I have an
obligation to protect him.�

Riquo looked at Kagome to see her rocking back and forth
with her face in her hands, crying.

�Psst, Kagome,� Kagome looked up and Riquo held her arms
open, �come here.�

Kagome jumped up and fell into Riquo�s embrace. Riquo
coddled her like a child, stroking her hair and rocking her slightly. Riquo
glared slightly at Sango.

�Let them explain what happened, Sango. Put the dagger down,
NOW!� Riquo hissed.

Sango remained where she was for a moment before releasing
the dagger from his throat. Sango walked past Riquo, pausing for a moment to
glare at her and then plopped herself down next to Miroku. Riquo lowered
herself next to Inuyasha with Kagome still crying in her arms.

Kouga sighed, �Well��

Riquo cleared her throat sharply, �Shippo, will you go out
into the den and play with Ebony and Kilala please?�

�Aaaw, I wanted to listen!�

�I know sweetheart, but we need to talk and get things
straightened out first ok? I promise I�ll fill you in on everything when we�re
done k?� Riquo winked at him.

Shippo smiled and hopped up kissing Kagome on the cheek
before leaving the pallet, Ebony and Kilala trailing behind him.

�Go on,� Riquo said.

Kouga fidgeted, �Well, we were�::cough::
mating�and I marked her and I was about to tell her to mark me, but she did it
on her own. Then before I could say or do anything I passed out from
exhaustion.�

�That doesn�t make sense, no one just becomes a demon or a half demon,� Inuyasha said frowning.

�Well then explain to me how I woke up with a half demon
next to me!�

�Kouga, calm down. Do you think her
priestess powers or the jewel shards she possesses did this to her?� Miroku
asked.

Kagome sniffed and mumbled against Riquo�s chest, �That�s
impossible. I only have about half of the jewel with me. I would need it all to
make myself a half demon.�

Kagome erupted in a fit of tears again. Riquo held her close
and hugged her.

�I�m so scared, why did this have to happen to me?!� Kagome
cried.

Suddenly Riquo stiffened. Everyone else was silent, save
Kagome's crying. They were all contemplating what could possibly have happened
and Riquo was contemplating how the hell she missed it.

�I think I know how this happened,� Riquo said quietly.

Kagome lifted her head, her black tearstains staining her
face forever from all the crying she�d done.

�How?� Inuyasha said, leaning over
to wipe away Kagome's tears, only to stare at the black stain it left. He wiped
again and again until Kagome winced from the skin irritation. Riquo glared at
him and pushed his hand away gently.

�First of all, a cheetah demon or half demon acquires his or
her tearstains after a serious amount of crying with tears. Most get them at
birth or at a young age,� she wiped away the rest of Kagome's tears, drying her
face and leaving behind the black lines streaking down the bottom sides of her
nose. Riquo smiled.

�You look beautiful with tearstains Kagome,� Riquo said.

Kagome smiled, �Thank you. Please continue though I�m in
suspense.�

�Yea me too,� Kouga muttered.

�Well, it�s kind of a stretch. Actually, it�s a big stretch
and highly unlikely. But, you could have been cursed. Some demons, especially
powerful demons, have that capability. And the demon blood they cursed you with
could have revealed itself when Kouga marked you, his blood triggering yours.�

�But wouldn�t she have to resemble the demon who cursed
her?� Miroku asked.

Riquo shrugged, �That would make sense. Have you guys ever
encountered a cheetah demon that was extremely powerful?�

Inuyasha shook his head, �Come to think of it, you�re the first
cheetah we�ve seen.�

�That would make sense. We stick together in our clans and
lately we�re becoming kind of rare,� Riquo said, sighing.

Kouga growled in frustration, �Is that the only thing you
can think of? There�s gota be something else that could�ve done this to her.�

Kagome started crying against Riquo�s chest again.

�Kagome what�s wrong?� Riquo asked.

�Ri, you know my mom, she�s gona
kill me!� Kagome wailed.

Inuyasha flattened his ears against his head, but kept
silent. He knew now wasn�t the time for his complaining. Suddenly, Riquo
stiffened.

�Uuuh, Kagome? Is there any possible chance your mom or dad
might have something to do with this?� Riquo asked. It was a shot in the dark
but they were grabbing at anything right now.

Kagome slowly raised her head and stared at Riquo, �What are
you thinking Riquo? How would my mom or dad have anything to do with this?�

Riquo winced, she was treading on uneasy territory and she
knew it; �Well, with the curse, Kouga�s blood triggered whatever had been
placed on you. But what if the demon blood was already there?�

Kouga widened his eyes, �What are you getting at Riquo?�

She sighed, �What if Kagome was born with the demon blood
and when you two mated, it manifested itself.�

Miroku added in, �You�ve got a good point, but how would
Kagome be able to hide her demon traits, like you did in her time, if she
doesn�t even know she�s a demon?�

Riquo didn�t respond for a minute before a smile spread
across her face, �That�s where her mom comes in.�

Inuyasha spoke for the first time in a while, �You want us
all to go to Kagome's time and try and explain all this and then accuse her mom of having something
to do with her daughter becoming a demonquo quo that�s not a good idea��

Kagome lifted herself from Riquo�s arms and stood, �True,
but that�s all we�ve got. I want to find out how this happened to me. But I
don�t think all of us should go. I think just me and Riquo should go, so we
don�t overwhelm my family.�

�Shouldn�t your family at least meet Kouga though? I mean,
you are mated to him and all,� Riquo
said.

�Yea, but not this time. She might
flip about and get the wrong impression of him. Better if we explain first,�
Kagome said, stretching.

Riquo nodded and yawned, �We�ll leave early tomorrow. I�m
exhausted and I know everyone else is too.�

Several moans and grunts were heard. Riquo and Inuyasha went
into a corner and curled up together, falling fast asleep. Sango tilted her
head onto Miroku�s shoulder and was out cold. Kouga and Kagome lied down
against a wall and were asleep very shortly. None of them wanted to be awake
and think about what was yet to come tomorrow morning.

A/N: WOOOOOO!!! That
was aight. I guess that�s just the �explanation chapter. O well it�s all good,
I�m a busy girl aLLLLL this weekend so I won't be updating til Monday or
something. All the ladiez and dudez sayin L8r!!!!! �aNiMe HeLLcat
