Chapter 21: A Glimpse Into The Future

The sun had just set below the horizon bathing the sky in a velvety soft violet hue as the first stars appeared resembling diamonds. Rin sat on the terrace overlooking the West gardens looking out across the vast night sky. She allowed her brown eyes to droop shut and inhaled a deep breath. The black behind her closed eyes transformed into a nearly blinding white light. Then in the middle of the bright white light were two small shadowy figures nestled together. Rin strained to see what the shadowy figures were but they were still unclear to her. Then the shadowy shapes became clear and it was obvious that they were two infants. One was a boy with coal black hair and amber eyes, a pale blue crescent moon hung in the middle of the infant boy�s forehead. He had two white ears with black tips that looked much like Inuyasha�s ears atop his tiny head.
The female infant was tiny with hair so black and shiny that it resembled ink. Her eyes were an illuminating shade of gray and a pale blue crescent moon also hung in the middle of her forehead as well. She also had white dog like ears with black tips atop her head. They were the most beautiful children that she had ever seen and she knew that they were her and Sesshomaru�s pups just by looking at them. The image of the two infants faded into blackness making Rin�s brown eyes snap open immediately. She rose to her feet quickly and headed back inside their chambers. Inside their room Sesshomaru was already lying in bed waiting for her to join him. �What kept you outside Rin?�
�I....I had a vision.� He stared at her with a look of confusion etched onto his handsome face.
�A vision? What kind of vision Rin?�
�About our pups.�
�Pups? How do you know we�re having more than one?�
�Because I saw it in my vision Sesshomaru! Mikos have the ability to see things in their near future.�
�So what did you see then?�
�I saw our pups, they�re beautiful Sesshomaru. We�re having a boy and a girl.�
�Uh huh. So then what are their names going to be?�
�The boy is going to be Kiyoshi and the girl is going to be Kohana.�
�I see. What do those names mean exactly darling?�
�Kiyoshi means quiet and Kohana means little flower.� Sesshomaru nodded as if quietly pondering the names Rin had chosen. �Are you excited about having twins Sesshomaru?�
�It will lot lot of work Rin, raising two pups at the same time. It will not be easy you know that don�t you?�
�Of course I do and I accept it willingly.� She padded over to the bed and slipped underneath the blanket next to him. Sesshomaru placed a hand on his mate�s well rounded stomach rubbing slow circles across it. Rin was now six months along in her pregnancy and could not wait to have both her pups. She leaned against Sesshomaru the rhythm of his palm running across her stomach making her relax instantly. Sesshomaru suddenly stopped his ministrations when Rin�s belly jerked underneath his palm. He stared at her with great concern in his amber pools. She grinned at his concern for her and their pups. �Oh relax Sesshomaru, that was just the pups kicking that�s all.�
�Is that normal?�
�Yes silly, of course it�s normal. Don�t worry so much.� Sesshomaru allowed a small smile to grace his handsome face briefly before letting it return to it�s normal expressionless state. �Sess, are you happy with me?�
�Why would ask me such an absurd question woman?�
�Because I wish to know the answer.�
�Yes I am more than happy with you Rin.�
�Is there anything about yourself that you have kept hidden from me Sesshomaru?� He stared at the ceiling pondering whether or not he wanted to answer her question. Flashbacks of the night that he savagely raped Kagome suddenly invaded his mind making him involuntarily shudder. �Sesshomaru?� He closed his eyes and was once again assaulted with the image of Kagome�s naked and helpless body beneath his much stronger one as he took her against her will. His amber eyes snapped open trying to rid his mind of the horrible image of what he had done. �Sesshomaru are you going to answer me?�
�Uh yes, Rin. There is something that I have never told you.�
�What is it?�
�Something that I am not proud of and did not ever wish to tell you about.�
�Please tell me Sess, I don�t want you to hide anything from me.� He swallowed the lump that had formed in his now painfully dry throat.
�Before I met you I did something terrible. I found Kagome in Inuyasha�s room before was was his mate, she was only his whore when she first came to the palace. I took Kagome against her will much like I did you the day that I took you from your old village. Except that I was much more violent with Kagome when I raped her.� Rin remained silent as Sesshomaru looked down into her brown eyes. �Are you sorry that I told you what I had been keeping from you?�
P>�NP>�No. That was before I met you. You are a different man now Sesshomaru. Have you apologized to Kagome for what you did to her?�
�Sadly no, I have not yet apologized for my terrible behavior towards the miko.�
�Sesshomaru, you have to apologize to Kagome. It�s the only way that she can ever truly forgive you.� He nodded and looked back up at the ceiling. Sesshomaru knew that his mate was right but he didn�t exactly want to have to face Kagome about that horrible night.
�I will apologize to Kagome for what I did to her tomorrow.�
�Thank you Sesshomaru.�
�I do this for you Rin, because I love you more than life itself.� Rin smiled and placed a chaste kiss on her mate�s smooth pale cheek. The two nestled close together as they prepared to go to sleep. In Inuyasha and Kagome�s chambers they were still very much awake. Kagome sat up in bed and glanced over at Inuyasha.
�Inuyasha?�
�Yes Kagome?�
�Do you remember when I first came to the palace?�
�How could I forget Kagome, I made you my whore remember?�
�Yes I remember. What made you fall in love with me?�
�I think after you became pregnant with Amaiya I started to see you as my mate not my whore. After all you were carrying my pup. Then before I knew it I was head over heels in love with you. What about you?�
�What about me?�
�How did you manage to fall in love with the same man that raped you and called you his whore?�
�I am after all a miko Inuyasha, we are born with the most pure and forgiving hearts. It was just instinct for me to forgive you and then that forgiveness turned into love.� Inuyasha tucked a stray strand of inky black hair away from Kagome�s face. She was truly the most incredible and perfect creature in the world and she belonged to him. Kagome laid down so that her head was pressed against Inuyasha�s bare chest. She could hear his strong steady heartbeat and it was quickly beginning to lull her to sleep. Inuyasha began running his clawed fingers through her silky raven tresses slowly relishing the softness against his skin. He soon could hear her rhythmic breathing and knew that she had fallen asleep. He snuggled down into the pillows and pulled Kagome into his arms. Soon his amber eyes closed and his breathing became rhythmic with slumber. Inuyasha and Kagome had been destined to be brought together before they had ever even laid eyes on each other. Fate had seen to it that the two met even though the circumstances of their paths crossing were heartbreaking they ended up where they were always meant to be in the end. Their hearts had been connected the moment they had both been brought into the world and the gods had seen to it that they fell in love no matter how strained their relationship had started out.
