The writer’s block is still hitting me very hard, but I managed to come up with this for you all! They are finally on the last leg of their journey back to the Western Palace, so without further adieu, on with the show!!

The sun broke over the horizon chasing away the last remnants of the night. Sesshoumaru was almost sorry to see it go. Watching his family sleeping peacefully through the night was something he was discovering he was quite content to do.
Reluctantly he jumped down from the branch he had settled himself on the night before and walked over to the sleeping group. First he roused the twin headed dragon, and then woke up Akane, who Kagome and Rin were sleeping against. Akane looked down at her still soundly sleeping charges and leaned over to nudge Kagome. She woke up easily, looking much better than she had the night before. Akane then gently nuzzled Rin and grunted softly to her. Rin cracked open one eye, then sighed and rolled over closer to Kagome who was rubbing the last bit of sleep from her eyes. Akane leaned forward to try and wake the child again, but Kagome laid her hand on her snout and shook her head.
“Let her sleep for now Akane, she needs to rest to recover, and I am not certain how much she will be able to rest when we reach the Western Palace.” Akane nodded to Kagome, and then slowly rose while Kagome cradled Rin to her so she could continue to sleep.
Sesshoumaru walked over to Kagome and took Rin from her so she could take care of her morning necessities. When she got back Sesshoumaru was sitting by the newly stoked fire warming up some of the deer meat from the night before. Her mouth began to water the closer she got to the roasting meat. Unlike the previous night however, she kept her senses about her and slowly ate her fill, packing up the rest for Rin on the trip.
Once she had finished her own breakfast, Kagome brought Akane and Ah-Un two of the huge rice balls with pickled radishes in the center that she had bought the day before. She broke Ah-Un’s into two halves, letting each head clean her hands when they had finished munching on their snack. Akane grunted contently and cleaned Kagome’s hands when she was done, and then began nuzzling against Kagome’s stomach gently. Kagome laughed and petted Akane’s black mane before kissing the top of her head. When she deemed she had thoroughly indulged both dragons, she began bustling around their camp packing up all of the loose supplies they had left out, and getting them ready to leave.
Once she had everything packed up and ready to go, she walked back over to Sesshoumaru carrying the boxes holding their new kimono. He had been sitting by the fire the whole time watching her and when she reached his side he handed the still sleeping Rin back to Kagome and proceeded to load the dragons with the supplies.
They all had been as quiet as possible to let Rin sleep. Once everything was secured to his satisfaction, Sesshoumaru motioned for Kagome to get on. She shook her head and pointed to the kimono boxes. Sesshoumaru raised is eyebrow at her as she motioned to him to come help her with Rin. When Sesshoumaru made it over to her, she handed Rin over to him and began to disrobe her from the borrowed top. Sesshoumaru felt his anger rise and again felt the urge to go and slowly dismember the men who had mistreated this child as her frail body was slowly exposed to them.
“They are dead and gone now love; there is nothing you can do to them now that they reside in the underworld. I know they are receiving more than adequate punishment for their mortal crimes. It is pointless to focus on things that can no longer harm her. Come now, let us focus on getting our daughter prettied up.” Kagome said quietly as she quickly slipped the layers of Rin’s new kimono on her. Before too long Kagome had the obi tied securely around her little waist, and began brushing out her hair. She decided that the simple side ponytail she had put her hair up in before suited her best, so she redid it.
Sesshoumaru wasn’t sure if he liked the look of the kimono on her, the large rose on it was lovely, and expertly embroidered, but the coloring didn’t seem quite right for a child. However, when Kagome came out from behind the tree she was changing behind with a matching kimono, he had to keep his jaw from dropping. On her the coloring and style were perfectly matched.
“Like what you see?” She said softly, with a mischievous spark in her eyes as she watched his eyes run up and down her form. He didn’t trust his voice so he just nodded to her. Her soft laugh followed. “I don’t suppose you know how to tie an obi do you?”
“Hnn…” Was all she got as an answer as he got up and walked to her. He laid his tail on the ground for Rin to rest on, before taking the long piece of fabric that made up the obi and wrapping it around Kagome’s waist and tying the complicated bow behind her back. She had left her hair down but had brushed it well so it fell in glossy waves down her back. She turned and smiled at him before kissing him on the cheek gently, picking Rin up, and walking over to the waiting Akane. She mounted her easily, sitting sideways and settling Rin in her lap. Though all of the jostling the child had remained soundly asleep, much to the adults surprise.
Sesshoumaru just smirked at the scene, and then mounted Ah-Un in one swift leap. “Follow my lead we should be there by midday if we travel swiftly.” He said toward Akane and Kagome.
“Let’s go I am eager to see this Western Palace I have heard so much about.” Kagome said smiling.
“Then let us not waste any more daylight.” He smirked and nudged Ah-Un forward.
Kagome did the same and both dragons took two steps forward, then little spinning clouds appeared beside each or their feet and their next steps took them into the air, and before too long the forest was flying by below the two dragons and their riders. By midday as promised the tallest towers surrounding the Western Palace came into view on the horizon.

Well that’s it for now everyone, they have almost made it to the Western Palace, next chapter we’re gonna take a short detour to see what the inhabitants of said palace are up to :D
