Chapter 196 - The Worry

Dawn had passed long ago, and Kagome had still not stirred. Sesshoumaru was beginning to grow concerned that he injured her somehow the night before. She had never slept so late. When she finally shifted and slowly opened her eyes, he let out a sigh of relief.
"Good morning, mate," he said softly, pressing a kiss to her temple.
"Morning," she replied with a yawn. She glanced out the window, trying to gauge what time it was, but the cloud covered sky made doing so impossible. "I feel like I slept in. What time is it?"
Sesshoumaru smirked at her. "Nearly time for lunch." He was surprised when she suddenly sat upright, struggling with the bedding in an attempt to get out of bed. "Calm yourself."
"But we missed breakfast! The kids must be worried, and there are probably more nanny candidates waiting to be interviewed. Why did you let me sleep so late?"
"Because you obviously needed to," he replied honestly. "You barely moved an inch during the night. You were exhausted."
"Yeah, well, there was a good reason for that," Kagome replied with a smile.
"You are the Lady of the West now, my angel. People will wait for you, and they will do so happily. Relax."

"The Lady of the West," Kagome repeated. She breathed in deeply before letting it out slowly. She needed to be composed and show her strength now. She was the new Lady of the West, and she didn't want to make Sesshoumaru regret his decision to make her so. "People might wait, but the kids won't," she said once she was calm and together.
"Hana can handle them."
"But she has other things to do. It's time to find us a good nanny."
Sesshoumaru watched as Kagome rose and dug through her bag for clean clothes. He didn't know why she had yet to unpack, but it didn't matter at the moment. Watching her in the nude, bent over her bag, was too enthralling for him to worry about much else.
"I am so thankful for that potion right now," she said as she shimmied her way into her jeans.
"Oh?"
"Otherwise, I know I would be so sore. I probably wouldn't be able to walk right." She turned and looked at him only to laugh at the arrogant smirk on his face. "And you'd be proud of it, too. Gah! Men!"
"Did you not enjoy yourself last evening?" he asked, somewhat concerned.
"Of course I did," she said, a light blush staining her cheeks. "It was just a little rougher than I was used to. I think I'd probably have finger shaped bruised on my hips, too, if it weren't for the advanced healing."
"Too rough?"
"No. It was perfect. Just different. The two of you together is something I'm gonna have to get used to."
"It does not have to happen again if you do not desire it."
Kagome pulled her shirt over her head and went to perch herself on Sesshoumaru's lap. "But I will desire it," she murmured in his ear, kissing his cheek. "Stop worrying so much. Different doesn't mean bad. Now, let's go see if we have interviewees waiting."
