Chapter 2: Reliving A Nightmare

A/N: Inuyasha is haunted by his past when Kagome�s body finally submits to Tsubaki�s curse and she tries to kill him. What will Inuyasha do? I still do not own Inuyasha so there!
Inuyasha felt completely helpless as he sat across from Kagome. Sango and Miroku still had not returned and Kagome�s condition was steadily deteriorating with each passing moment. She whimpered and thrashed on the futon, her face glistening from the thin sheen of sweat that currently coated it. Inuyasha winced in pain at the sight of his beautiful Kagome as she lay there a prisoner in her own body. �Why? Why does this have to be happening to Kagome? There has to be a way that I can save her!� He stood and looked out the open door of the hut in frustration. His amber eyes could make out the faint and eerie glow of the demonic barrier that was shining in the distance.
�Please hurry Sango and Miroku! Kagome�s life depends on it!�
Back inside Naraku�s palace Tsubaki was becoming increasingly infuriated at Kagome�s reluctance to submit. �This stubborn little wretch simply refuses to give in!�
�It�s just as I�ve told you Tsubaki, Kagome will not be easily controlled. She is Kikyo�s reincarnation and we both know that Kikyo herself is not easily defeated.�
�I will break this girl�s ever defiant soul!� Naraku smiled devilishly at Tsubaki�s determination. The dark priestess chanted a few more ancient words and it caused Kagome�s body to pulse greatly. Tsubaki�s malice filled voice echoed in Kagome�s weakening mind once again. �KILL INUYASHA NOW KAGOME! KILL HIM!�
Kagome felt her body rise on it�s own from where she lay. She struggled to regain control over her body but to no avail. Her blue gray eyes grew wide in fear as her hands reached for her bow and a sacred arrow. Kagome notched the arrow on her bow and pulled back as far as she could. Inuyasha was oblivious to Kagome�s actions as he continued to stare out the open door.
Tears began slipping out of Kagome�s eyes as she unwillingly released the arrow. It whipped through the air aaileailed straight towards Inuyasha. Inuyasha�s keen ears picked up the sound of the arrow ripping through the air. He turned just in time to see the arrow whip past him to be lodged in the doorway of the hut. �K-Kagome?�
She stared at him with tear filled eyes as her hands moved to grab another arrow. Kagome pulled the arrow back and aimed it right at Inuyasha�s chest. He stared at her and suddenly a similar image of Kikyo pointing an arrow at him appeared in his mind. �No, not this! Not this again, not with you Kagome!�

Kagome struggled to keep herself from firing the arrow at her beloved who stood there looking at her with sad almost mournful amber eyes. Her voice came out sounding choked and raspy. �Run! Inuyasha please run!�
Tsubaki slammed her fist down on the table in a fit of rage. �The impertinent little wretch still tries to defy me! I have control of her body but her mind still refuses to submit!�
�Just keep trying Tsubaki, Kagome has to give in sometime. Even she is not strong enough to hold out for much longer.� Tsubaki tried to channel her murderous orders into Kagome�s mind once again.
�KILL INUYASHA! KILL HIM KAGOME! HE BETRAYED YOU, KILL HIM!� Kagome squeezed her eyes shut as Tsubaki�s shrill voice rang in her head.
�Inuyasha get out of here now! Please I don�t want to hurt you!�
�No Kagome, I won�t leave you!�
Kagome bega sob sob as her grip on the arrow tightened. �Inuyasha!� He gritted his teeth and prepared to move quickly should she release the arrow.
Kikyo made her way to the edge of the barrier just as Sesshomaru was descending to the ground gracefully. �Is this your doing wench?�
�Excuse me?�
�This demonic barrier, did you create it?�
�No I haven�t enough power to create such a barrier.�
�Then what are you doing here?�
�
�I came to find out what Naraku is up to. What about you?�
�I also came to see what Naraku was up to.�
Kikyo frowned as she reached out with her priestess powers to test the barrier. It crackled and hissed when Kikyo�s powers came into contact with it. Sesshomaru watched her closely before speaking again. What do you make of it priestess?�
�I have faced this evil once before but it was long ago.�
�Then you know who is responsible for creating the barrier?�
�Yes, it can only be Tsubaki, the dark priestess.�
�Tsubaki you say? I�ve heard that name before.�
�She is an evil priestess who wishes to possess the Shikon jewel to obtain eternal youth.�
�Why would she be helping Naraku?�
�Naraku must have summoned Tsubaki to kill Inuyasha and Kagome.�
Sesshomaru growled at Kikyo�s words. �If anyone kills Inuyasha it shall be me!�
�Then you�re going to help Inuyasha?�
�I suppose if that�s how you wish to see it then yes.�
Back in Kaede�s hut Kagome finally could no longer keep herself from releasing the arrow. She sobbed as the arrow flew from her bow and soared towards Inuyasha. Inuyasha jumped but did not get entirely clear of the arrow�s path. He winced when it nicked his left side and sent a burning sensation down that side of his body. �I�m sorry Inuyasha!�
Inuyasha jumped and grabbed Kagome tackling her to the floor. He wrestled the bow and satchel of arrows out of her grasp and threw them across the hut. He crushed Kagome into a tight nearly bone breaking embrace. �Stop this Kagome!�
�I....I.....can�t!� Kagome�s hands found a small knife on the floor and she grasped it quickly.
Inuyasha howled in pain as Kagome buried the blade of the knife into the top of his right shoulder. �AHHHHH!!� Inuyasha shoved Kagome away from him roughly. He grabbed the handle of the knife and yanked it out of his shoulder. He could feel the blood as it gushed from the wound in his shoulder.
�Inuyasha please run away! I don�t want to hurt you!�
�No Kagome, I won�t leave you!� He grabbed Kagome and pinned her to the wall hard. The force he had used had knocked the breath from her.
�Inuyasha please, I�m begging you! Run away!�
�I won�t!� He then crushed his lips to hers in a bruising kiss. Kagome fisted her hands into his long silvery hair as his mouth pressed firmly against hers. The kiss was so raw and passionate it set Kagome�s entire body on fire.
She could feel Inuyasha�s body pressing against hers and could feel the beginnings of his arousal pressing against her belly.
Kikyo used her priestess powers and created a hole in the barrier. Sesshomaru followed her into the barrier and began trudging towards Naraku�s palace. Kikyo�s pretty face was twisted into a hateful scowl as she reached for her bow and arrows. Sesshomaru placed his hand on the hilt of Toukijin and followed Kikyo into the castle.
Kikyo�s dull brown eyes narrowed bitterly as she saw Tsubaki. �So Tsubaki, this barrier is your doing?�
The silver haired priestess turned and her beautiful face instantly twisted into a look of sheer malice when she saw Kikyo. �Kikyo! You worthless wretch!�
Kikyo smiled as she aimed an arrow at Tsubaki. Sesshomaru watched the two women wary of what might happen between them. �So we meet again Tsubaki. It�s been what, over half a century since we last encountered each other?�
�Yes and I have remembered that day ever since! You turned my own curse back on me you stupid wretch! I have dreamed of killing you so I shall greatly enjoy this!�
Kikyo laughed hollowly at Tsubaki�s threat as she prepared to notch an arrow on her bow. Sesshomaru�s golden eyes darted from Kikyo to Tsubaki and back again. He wasn�t certain how the two women knew each other but it was obvious that they were old adversaries. Tsubaki sent a bolt of dark purifying energy towards Kikyo but Kikyo easily deflected it with her bow. �Still so foolish to think that you can defeat me Tsubaki?�
�I am stronger now than I was then priestess and it seems that you yourself are much weaker in fact.� Kikyo narrowed her brown eyes and then stood ready for Tsubaki�s next attack. She did not want to reveal that she was indeed weaker now that she was sharing a soul with Kagome. That would prove to be foolish on her part. Tsubaki grinned maliciously at Kikyo as they circled one another warily. �So have you lain with a demon Kikyo? Is this demon your lord and mate?�
Kikyo gritted her teeth as she glared daggers at Tsubaki. It had been so long since she had faced Tsubaki that she had forgotten how infuriating the wench could be. Sesshomaru measured the two priestesses up and decided that he would not interfere in their affairs. From the looks of it things were about to turn ugly between the two mikos and he wanted no part of it. He had simply come to insure that his half breed brother would not be killed by anyone but himself and he decided to seek out Naraku to carry out his task.
