It has been two days since the death of Kagome and the battle with Inu Yasha and Kikyo. They ran from the battle when Inu Yasha and Kikyo noticed they were not going to win they ran and are once again roaming the lands somewhere.
In the Western Palace a small group of creatures, both Youkai and Ningen gather around a bed. In which lay their mother, sister, friend and companion covered by a sheer cover still looking as if asleep. It was decided that they would hold a small private ceremony to bury the young Miko.

Kagome wanders from what seems like hours through the darkness until she entered what looks like a field. But not just any field the one located outside of Edo village where the bone eaters well was that took her home to the future.
It was then she noticed she was not alone in the clearing two Miko and two youkai stood as if waiting for her. One Miko she knew as the powerful Midoriko the other was dressed in blue and white with no armor but looked similar to Midoriko. The youkai one was a female Inu and the other was some kind of snake but she couldn't be sure. As she approached, they smiled at her as if welcoming her to their little group.
"Sit with us my child" Midoriko spoke warmly.
"Rest your self Guardian Miko Kagome" the other spoke. The youkai did not speak only watched her.
"Where I am? Am I dead?" she asked sadly sitting down resting her back against the well.
"We have good and bad news for you Kagome. But yes for the moment to the real world you are dead my child," Midoriko answered making Kagome gasp and bury her face in her hands sobbing. 'No no, I can t be my friends, my kit who will take care of them? Who will take care of my Maru and make sure he's eating and sleeping?' the sadness pouring from the young miko affecting the others, making the youkai nervous as they watched her silently.
"Tell her Midoriko put her heart at ease," the female Inu youkai spoke finally not being able to take it anymore. A touch on her shoulder brought her out of her self-pity. She turned watery eyes to the unknown miko. She smiled trying to easy Kagome's pain.
"We are very proud of you, Guardian Kagome," she spoke.
"Hai,very proud," spoke the female Inuyoukai.
"Hai, for one so young you gave up a lot to fulfill your duty, your destiny," Midoriko spoke happily.
"Hai, I agree you are very courageous for a young Ningen," the snake youkai finally spoke.
"And don't forget you have changed the views of Miko for centuries to come not to mention Youkai views of Miko and Ningen as well," Midoriko chirped.
"I..I did all that?" she stutters giving them a watery smile.
"Yes, young one and we are very proud of you," stated the unknown miko.
"Arigatou," Kagome whispered drying her tears but she knew it was more they had to tell her.
"Now Kagome Guardian of the Shikon no Tama your work is not done", the snake youkai stated.
"Its not...but I thought?" Kagome stated.
"No, it is not. First, there will be no wish, my child. Second, what most don't realize is that the jewel; is a living thing. The souls have decided they want to become one with you their chosen Guardian, now as we speak you are changing," the youkai continued.
"Changing How?" she questioned.
"You will see, but first, we must tell you about your next task. It is decided the hanyou Inu Yasha has become a threat to you and the jewel now," the unknown miko sighed.
"No Inu Yasha is my friend he would never and has never lusted for the jewel", Kagome hissed outraged that the miko would speak about her friend in such a way. Sure he could be unfeeling at times maybe a little cruel but he still cares about me. 'Right?'
"Well, he does now and you must find a way to change this, my child. It is not your fault but greed for the power of the Jewel grows now in the hearts of the failed Guardian Kikyo and Hanyou Inu Yasha" Midoriko spoke sadly.
"But how... how can I help them?" question Kagome. She would believe in Midoriko for she has never once lead her down the wrong path. 'If what they say is the truth than I have to help them any way I can'
"That is your choice we cannot say but you must find a way," spoke the female youkai.
"Listen to your instincts my child and continue to let your heart guide you," the unknown miko commented.
"Your days of living as a reincarnation are over my child," Midoriko smiled happily. Kagome was about to ask what she meant but she started to fade from the scene. She smiled and thanked them all for their guidance and words of praise.
"Do you think this is a good choice Midoriko?"
"Hai, she will make things right Lea"
"Hai, I agree with Midoriko our guardian will not fail us."
"Hai her heart is even bigger than all the power she wields our guardian will do well," all the souls of the Shikon jewel were in agreement of the future of their guardian as they started the chant to change their chosen guardian.

None noticed the changes in the Miko as she lies in the bed. The toning of her muscles her nails grew into claws. The places where the jewel flew into changed to blue strips on her skin. Her ears pointed and became elfin-like, her hair grew longer as it changed colors slightly. She gasped for breath sitting up, the sheer coverslipped from her face to reveal shocking crystal blue eyes. Kagome looked around at her sad family their sadness drowning her.
Shippo saw her sitting up he jumped on the bed happily throwing his self into her stomach.
"I knew it Kagome-mama ... I knew you weren't dead," he sobbed bring the attention of the others. They stared at the young Miko taking in her new appearance with a gasp as she let loose a cat like a yawn that showed off her small fangs.
"Kagome?"Sesshoumaru was the first to speak "Is that you?"
"Who else would I be Maru?" she laughed at his look she was greeted with a crushing hug from Sango and Miroku in their happiness to see her alive and well. Rin let loose a watery giggle.
"Kagome-mama is changing colors,"they released their friend with a laugh at the face she was making panting for breath.
"What happened sister?" questioned Sango. She told them what had happened in what she thought of like a dream, about the people she talked too but leaving out what they told her about Inu Yasha.
"Imouto you did died I saw your soul enter Kikyo before Inu Yasha attacked us," Miroku told her sadly as her eyes filled with tears.
"They told me he had changed but how why?" she asked
"Kikyo" whispered Sango. Kagome sighed running her hands throw her hair it was then that she noticed her claws.
"OH MY KAMI," she yelled looking at her hands. What did they do to me, she thought spotting a mirror across the room she tried to rise from the bed. Her legs gave out as she tried to push her self from the bed. She grabs the bedpost to keep from falling her legs felt like Jell-O. With Sango s help, she made her way across the room to the mirror. She stared at herself.
"Is that me?" she asked staring back at her was a beautiful Inu. Her skin has lost what tan it did have giving her back her porcelain skin her hair now the color of the starlit midnight sky hung to her knees. Blue strips adorned her wrist, face, and if she guessed, right other parts of her as well. The eyes looking back at her were no longer brown but crystal blue almost white. She touched her face the red of her lips where darker her face more refined older. However, what shocked her the most was the jewels in her forehead. They made a shape almost like a lotus flower as she traced each they glowed pink and turned blue like her stripes.
Everyone was silent as she took in her new look. The silence was broken by another small giggle from the two children.
"You look beautiful mama you re a real youkai now," Shippo stated happily
"Hai, mama is like a real hime" Rin added.
Hours later after the shock of her look wore off they all went to Sesshoumaru s study. They spent the rest of the day filling her in on what happened with Inu Yasha and Kikyo. This is bad but how do I fix this? There has to be a way right I just have to find it but what? then a thought hit her
"What about Keade and the villagers are they okay?" everyone stilled
"We will leave in the morning to check on them, for now, we all need rest," Miroku nodding toward yawning Shippo and Rin. So with a light heart, everyone within the Western Palace turned in to get the sleep they denied themselves days ago. With their cherished family member back with them once again they felt like they could once again take on whatever Kami throws their way.
But sleep didn't come easy for Kagome as she sat on the edge of her bed staring out at the night sky. She put on her robe and checked on first Rin seeing the sleeping form she smiled sliding closed the screen. Next Shippo he slept with a smile on his face, she smiled again and silently slide the screen closed. She could feel Sango and Miroku as they slept in each other's arms happily, from outside their screen. No need to enter here. Don t want to embarrass them farther.' Kagome walked the hall farther to Sesshoumaru s room what she felt from his aura made her bright smile turn to a frown.
She quietly enters his room and walked to the bed, the sadness and agony pouring from him was almost overwhelming, as he tossed and turned. His red glowing eyes snapped open taking her in. "I..I thought I had lost you, my little Miko," his rough voice full of such sadness none but he knew he was capable of.
"You will never lose me my Maru," she whispered removing her robe and climbing into bed beside him. Their whispered conversation was quick as he buried his face in her stomach and let sleep take him. This time his dreams were peaceful ones. Kagome stroked his hair keeping his whispered words close to her heart as sleep finally welcomed her into its arms.
