Moonlight
Inuyasha leaned against the trunk of the tree he was sitting in and looked out at the night. The group lay around the dying fire beneath him, sleeping peacefully- Kagome curled up with Shippou in her arms, Sango across from her with Kirara lying near her head, and Miroku slightly separated from the pair leaning against a tree. The monk had attempted, yet again, to peek at the girls while they were bathing earlier that day and was still in Sango's bad graces. Even in sleep her hand twitched, as if whirling the might of hiraikotsu at the monk. She was smiling too. Inuyasha wondered absently if Miroku was having the same dream; his expression was one of dread.
Kagome just looked serene. He watched her for a long time as the moon climbed through the sky. Kagome... Kagome was... everything to him. He had never thought that anyone, other than his mother, would ever... love him. And yet here were three humans and two demons who not only accepted his company but welcomed it- who missed him when he left, who put up with his shit, who teased him without meaning to be cruel but because friends could do that, make fun of each other.
Friends.
He'd never really had those before.
And it was all because of Kagome. If she hadn't bumbled through the well, freed him... Hell, if she hadn't shattered the jewel none of this would have happened. Strange to feel thankful for something like that. Strange to think that, with all the evil the jewel left in its wake, this quest they were on had already accomplished something good. He watched her as she slept, and guarding her sleep made him think suddenly of Sesshomaru.
It had been a couple months since those nights he'd spent trapped by that bitch. He hadn't told the rest of the group about it. They didn't need to know, and Inuyasha also tried to forget. But still... He wondered what Sesshomaru was doing now. He wondered... what Sesshomaru was thinking now.
It wasn't something he wanted to think about, but unbidden the thoughts rose in his mind. The images of Sesshomaru, his body spread beneath Inuyasha as he reached up his hand and wrapped it around Inuyasha's length and Inuyasha threw his head back, feeling his brother inside of him as well...
Okay, so sex wasn't something Inuyasha had a lot of personal experience with. Who'd want to fuck a half breed? But he wasn't ignorant, particularly when it came to male on male relationships. He'd often seen couples hiding in the forest, consummating their love in secrecy and seclusion. There had been pairs of men, hiding from their wives, and also women who just happened to stray along a path that led them to a man who was not their husband... While not considered a suitable pastime for most respectable citizens, voyeurism proved to be highly educational, Inuyasha discovered.
But, oh how the practice completely blew away the theory.
Sesshomaru had been the first other person he had had sex with. He'd messed around by himself, but that didn't compare. Kikyou had never wanted to go past kissing and some light touching, but at the time that was more than he'd ever hoped another person would give him. But now... God, now... "Sesshomaru." He breathed his brother's name. What was Sesshomaru thinking? He probably still hated his brother unequivocally. That was a word that described Sesshomaru- unequivocal. He never left you wondering. And he hated everyone, right? So, it followed that he hated Inuyasha.
Inuyasha had never hated his brother. Well, okay so maybe he had a little, but it was kind of hard to not hate someone who was ripping out your eye. But he thought he understood... And watching the interaction between Kagome and Souta, seeing Sango's devotion to Kohaku, Inuyasha began to understand what a sibling relationship was like. And that helped him figure out how to define his own feelings. He didn't hate Sesshomaru; Sesshomaru was the one who hated him, and he couldn't really fault his brother for that- after all, up until a little while ago there was no one who didn't hate him. Inuyasha respected Sesshomaru's strength, though obviously Inuyasha could take him in a fight no contest. He wanted... to get to know his brother better. There was so much he didn't know about his family, and meeting Kagome had also brought that into sharp relief for him. Her family had lived at the shrine for generations; she knew all sorts of history about them, how her great grandmother Tokio had been married to a chain-smoking policeman and her great great great grandfather Gonou had met a famous priest. They were stupid things to remember, but they were there. They existed, and somehow through their existing, they proved that other people had existed. Inuyasha wanted that.
But now... Sesshomaru was the only family he had left, and after what had happened he didn't think he would see the demon ever again.
As if determined to prove him wrong, at that moment the wind carried Sesshomaru's scent to his nose. He lifted his head and sniffed again. No, he wasn't hallucinating- there it was. His heartbeat quickened. A soft growl from below him made him look down; Kirara was awake. She looked up at him, her eyes glowing in the darkness. "Stay here," he told her. "Watch them. I'm going." She grunted an affirmative, and suddenly there was a huge firecat where the kitten had been laying. She flicked her tail and glared out into the darkness, on guard.
Inuyasha slipped through the forest, moving like moonlight, the moonlight itself shining off his hair. He jumped down from a tree, near the edge of a lake, and raised his nose to the wind again. He was close...
Something reached from behind him and, grabbing his shoulder, threw him against the tree behind him. It was Sesshomaru; Inuyasha heard his distinctive snarl, and he tried to look at his brother, but Sesshomaru shoved his face against the tree and pinned his body with one leg against the small of his back. Suddenly the leg was gone and Inuyasha felt his brother's body pressed flush against him, could feel Sesshomaru's hardened length pressing against his ass and Sesshomaru's heavy breathing in his ear.
Suddenly angry, Inuyasha pushed backwards off the tree and threw Sesshomaru off of him. Twisting around he grabbed Sesshomaru by the arm and shoved the off-balance demon until he fell on the ground and Inuyasha pinned him down. He snarled down at his brother, about to ask him what the hell he was thinking, when the wrist he had grabbed tensed and Sesshomaru twisted his hand around and buried poisoned fingernails into the wrist that held his trapped. Inuyasha let go, out of surprise more than anything, and once again Sesshomaru had the upper hand as he wrapped his legs around Inuyasha and, twisting around, pulled the half breed underneath him.
Lying with his brother crouched over him, Inuyasha felt a thrill of excitement. So maybe he didn't hate his brother, but that didn't mean he didn't love fighting with him. Sesshomaru was strong, and Inuyasha had always enjoyed testing that strength against his own- even before he thought there might be some other outcome to this match than there ever had been before... He heaved upward and flipped them over, into the shallow water of the lake's edge, himself again on top. "What the hell do you want?" he shouted suddenly, wondering what on earth had caused Sesshomaru to seek him out this night.
Sesshomaru snarled up at him, and suddenly his face was no longer cold and defiant, but... yearning. Inuyasha stared down at him in shock. As if sensing his thoughts, Sesshomaru snarled again and threw Inuyasha off of him, into the water of the lake, and started to get up.
"Wait."
Sesshomaru paused as he was about to leave, turning back to Inuyasha who stood at the edge of the lake, water dripping off of him. "What?" the demon asked.
Inuyasha snorted. "I think that's my line. What the hell?! You come out of nowhere and attack me and then just leave?"
Sesshomaru turned again to leave. He was not going to explain himself, especially to him...
Inuyasha came up behind him and, grabbing him by the shoulders, spun him around and kissed him forcefully.
So hot... and wet... dear god...
Sesshomaru shoved Inuyasha away from him, and the pair stood there looking at each other for a long moment.
And then, as silent as he had first approached, Sesshomaru went to Inuyasha again, burying his hand in the half breed's hair, and grabbing him by the back of the head, crushing their mouths together in a bruising kiss.
Inuyasha's hands came up and he took Sesshomaru's face between them, pulling him closer; he lifted his legs, wrapping them around his brother's waist. Unbalanced, the pair fell over into the water. Inuyasha rolled Sesshomaru under him and proceeded to remove their clothing with ease, and Sesshomaru could only watch in fascination as his previous fantasy played out before him. But Inuyasha didn't touch him; instead he grinned at Sesshomaru and slid a hand down under the water that lapped at their legs and slipped a finger inside the demon, taking the opportunity to kiss his way over Sesshomaru's abdomen, pausing to lick around his navel.
Sesshomaru paused out of surprise. What on earth was Inuyasha doing? And then the finger inside of him brushed against that spot and his spine arched, almost unconsciously, and he gasped for breath as his hand scrambled to find purchase in the slippery stones of the lakebed. The
cool waters of the lake licked against his hot skin, and he abandoned his useless scramble and reached out his hand and grabbed Inuyasha by the hair. He had to regain some semblance of control in this situation... Sesshomaru kicked Inuyasha off of him and pulled his head under the water. He shoved his brother's body beneath him and, not even noticing how Inuyasha angled his hips to accept him, thrust himself inside of Inuyasha's body.
He released his hold on Inuyasha's hair, and Inuyasha wrapped his legs up, around Sesshomaru's hips and arced up out of the water gasping. He reached up to wrap his arms around Sesshomaru's neck and Sesshomaru whined softly at the feeling of Inuyasha hot around him, against him,
hot breath on his neck. They sank deeper in the water and Sesshomaru leaned forward until Inuyasha's back rested against the bed of the lake. He snapped his hips forward against Inuyasha, and the half breed moaned, wrapping his legs more tightly around Sesshomaru. The demon had to moan as well; this felt even better than he remembered. He picked up a rhythm as he thrust down against Inuyasha, and his brother reached up his hands and traced invisible patterns across Sesshomaru's face and chest as he moaned wantonly in between the kisses he pressed to Sesshomaru's lips and face.
And when Sesshomaru had relaxed, forgetting himself in the delicious motion of thrusting, suddenly Inuyasha rolled them over. His eyes blazed with passion as he stared down at his brother, arms on either side of his head, and Sesshomaru snarled back up at him. Inuyasha smirked and leaned down to kiss him on the tip of his nose, while at the same time settling himself
with a greater firmness onto his brother. Pleasure washed through Inuyasha as he felt Sesshomaru pressed against that spot inside of him, and Sesshomaru moaned as he felt himself taken fully inside his brother, just a little further. Inuyasha pulled away then thrust back down, and Sesshomaru- remembering how it had felt- reached forward and took Inuyasha's length in his hand. He wrapped his fingers around the hard, twitching flesh and stroked his thumb over the head. Inuyasha whimpered, bending down to plant a kiss on Sesshomaru's forehead. He buried his head in the junction of Sesshomaru's neck and shoulder, his breathing ragged as desire flooded him. He concentrated on moving, thrusting against Sesshomaru's hand, the growing tide of need in him making him lose his steady pace and start going faster and faster...
Inuyasha lost control, thrusting his hips down, throwing his head back, his wet hair scattering droplets of water everywhere, he gave a triumphant cry as, with one final thrust, he shuddered and came, the seed spilling into Sesshomaru's hand washed away into the water.
His muscles clenched around Sesshomaru, buried to the hilt inside him, and the demon almost forgot himself, forgot existence, as he drowned in hot, white oblivion.
When he came back to himself, Sesshomaru realized his back was arched, his head thrown back and his mouth open in a silent scream of absolute rapture. He relaxed his muscles and let his body settle against the smooth stones of the lakebed. Inuyasha was lying on top of him, breathing deeply; Sesshomaru's length was still inside of his brother. Neither of them moved.
"You never answered my question," Inuyasha finally whispered, his ears twitching as he listened to the beating of his brother's heart, his voice sudden and loud in the silence of the night. He raised his head and looked at Sesshomaru. "What do you want?"
Without a moment's thought, Sesshomaru's lip curled up into a snarl, his arm a blur as he grabbed the half breed by the throat, threw his sibling over his head, onto the grassy bank of the lake. Inuyasha rolled over into a crouch, his own eyes flashing as lips curled back in a return snarl. Sesshomaru rolled to his knees, and, gathering his belongings up in one fluid motion, disappeared in a flash as he left, running off into the night.
Inuyasha growled, in anger and puzzlement. It wasn't like Sesshomaru to run from a confrontation- though it wasn't like him to show up like he had either. He gathered his own clothing, damp from laying half in and half out of the waters of the lake where he had thrown it after removing it. He'd taken more care with Tetsusaiga; the sword had been set carefully to the side, on the dry grass. Frowning at the damp clothing, he dressed himself. He probably needed to come up with a reason for why he was soaked, and an alibi for where he'd been if anyone beside Kirara had noticed him missing. He didn't like to lie to his friends, but once again absolutely refusing to talk about where he'd been, as he had about his previous encounter with Sesshomaru and the bitch woman, would probably draw suspicion and well-meaning nosiness. But... He didn't understand Sesshomaru's actions, any more than his own feelings, and he thought that asking someone... might help. Kagome had a brother, right? And she loved him... Was that what this was? Inuyasha understood that relationships between human siblings were far less physical than what he had shared with his brother tonight, but maybe that was just different because they were demons. In all his observations never had he seen one person seek out another for physical intimacy when the only feeling they had for that person was hatred. There was always a desire for the other person, and he'd thought that he smelled such desire on Sesshomaru tonight. But Sesshomaru's running away suggested that he did not in fact care at all about Inuyasha. He growled again, this time in frustration, and started back toward the camp. It was still dark; hopefully no one had noticed him missing.
He got back to his tree, where he had been resting before, to find that no one was awake other than a watchful Kirara. She took one sniff of him and wrinkled her nose. Inuyasha snorted at her, glad she couldn't talk- and that Shippou was too young to know what that smell was and that the others' noses were too weak to catch it. He settled into the crook in the tree, feeling damp cloth pull across cuts and bruises. Sighing, he tried to get some sleep. He didn't need much of it, but trying to figure out his brother's twisted mind was the exact opposite of restful.
Kirara lay curled by the fire, her head up. She knew the exact moment when Inuyasha gave in to sleep and her ears and eyes worked steadily as she scanned the forest around them for any possible dangers. She smelled Sesshomaru when he returned, near morning, but she had smelled him on Inuyasha, and now he made no move to attack, so she held her peace and simply watched the ghostly apparition as it stood and stared at the tree where Inuyasha rested as if by staring at the half breed he could divine the secrets of the universe. He vanished again right before sunrise.
