Chapter 2 Agreement
Disclaimer: Trust me if I owned Sesshoumaru he would be my mate and we would be living the good life in Japan instead of daydreaming

Three days travel and they finally docked in India. InuYaa rested for most of the voyage while her parents thought of a safer way to travel. The royal navy youkai powered battleship was an undetectable way for the four youkai to travel but it put a toll on their guard’s bodies. Pharaoh InuJaja and Queen InuAsantewa planned on transforming into their youkai energy ball to travel to the Western Lands. It would be faster, but it lacked stealth their enemies could easily get notice of their aura in the sky. There was a bigger issue that needed the royal pair attention, how to inform Princess InuYaa that she would soon be offered as mate to the heir of the western lands.
“My love and queen, I think it will be best if you discuss the reason for our trip to InuYaa. She will have questions and you being her mother would be able answer her best,” InuJaja said snuggling next to his mate. For the wise pharaoh InuJaja new this mating would need to go as smoothly as possible. He understood the linking of kingdoms and the traditional reason for mating was to ensure power of the ruling family. This time was no different. The panther tribe of Nubia was a foe that had weakened his personal royal guard. The pairing between Lord Sesshoumaru and Princess InuYaa would strengthen Japan and Egypt for millennia. However, InuJaja the father despised himself for using his daughter for such a reason. She deserved to be loved. He knew of the stoic lord and was uncertain if he was capable of love. True he needed an heir to keep the strong blood line of his ancestors flowing in the House of the Crescent Moon and InuYaa could give him exactly what he needed. What of her needs? Strong she is, but not strong enough to be rejected by her mate. No youkai could live through that. The horror stories of female youkai withering away to dust haunted the pharaoh. It was as if they were frozen into stone from grief and despair. There were an abundance of stories of females also dying at the hands of heartless lords after they received an heir. Most would murder the mother after birth of a male child. He knew he could not handle it if any harm were to befall his little princess. How could he sentence his only child to that fate? Holding InuAsantewa tightly he voiced his concerns yet they agreed this is for the best.

“Are you fearful of your offspring my love?” InuAsantewa asked in jest although
InuYaa was known best for her temper. Most male youkai in the Inu-Egyptian kingdom steered clear of her when she unleashed her fury. Her venomous claws alone were enough to put fear in any suitors who sought to claim her not to mention if she had her two scimitars, Ankue and Khonsu the havoc that was brought was immense.
Grunting the pharaoh crossed his arms, “This InuJaja fears not his offspring. I merely believe this matter should be handled by you. Now, make haste we will depart in two hours,” he commanded before turning on his heel. If he were honest with himself, he refused to disappoint or hurt his daughter. She was the light of his world. ‘InuYaa I pray you will understand,’ the great Pharaoh thought.
Queen InuAsantewa made her way to her daughter. Upsetting InuYaa was the last thing anyone ever wanted to do. Her daughter was truly a force to be reckoned with. As a child InuYaa dreamed of mating for love. Her parents told her tales of whimsical romances and heroics of past kings and queens of the many youaki dynasties in the ancient world. She knew her daughter wanted to be loved more than ruling Inu-Egypt and rightfully so. She, Queen InuAsantewa, loved her mate from the first day she saw him although her plan was to kill him. Their love story was told to female children across the nation.
*FLASHBACK*
The warring tribes of the Inu-Nubians and the Inu-Egyptians raged on for decades. The Inu-Nubian was decimated and every warrior in the tribe who did not stand down was slaughtered as well as their families. The ruthless Inu-Egyptians wanted the wealth of Nubia. InuSet, the tribal leader of the Inu-Nubian, had only one thing to offer the Inu-Egyptians for a chance of an alliance, his daughter princess InuAsantewa.
The courting was to begin between InuJaja Prince of Inu-Egypt and InuAsantewa, a warrior princess. After weeks of coming to terms with an alliance InuSet told his daughter of the agreement. InuAsantewa was enraged and sought to destroy this boy prince. The princess sharpened her sword and prepared for war with this…prince. The day before the meeting by the Nile, the princess went out to practice for what she thought would be a grand duel. Instead she saw the other royal Inu pacing. Ducking down she stalked her prey silently. The prince of Inu-Egypt was practicing what he would say to his future queen aloud. “My soon to be queen, please forgive me for not being able to love you before our union. However, this InuJaja promises to dedicate my life to making sure you are loved every second of every day for the rest of our days until Lord Anubis pulls one of us away to the underworld. Then I promise to find you in the afterlife and love you for all eternity.” Hearing those words the warrior princess halted her attack. There would be no assassination that night but a feast by the Nile at sunset. Prince InuJaja and Princess InuAsantewa planned to merge the two nations under one God, Anubis after the declaration of the prince. After the death of Pharaoh InuSet, InuJaja was named Pharaoh. He and his warrior Queen battled Nubia for control of Egypt once more against the Panther tribe. It was an effortless battle with the combined power of all the Inu-youkai in the land against a few meddlesome panthers. Once their victory was solidified they mated and linked together on the battlefield and thus InuYaa was created.
*END FLASHBACK*
Slowly walking towards her child, InuAsantewa smiled at those memories and prayed to Ra InuYaa would understand. “Daughter, come we must talk.” The queen sat next to her daughter on the bed. She smiled softly looking into the mystical silver eyes of her child. There was no good way to say this so the queen decided the direct approach was best.
“Talk mother? Is there something wrong?” InuYaa asked seeing the concern in her mother’s eyes. It was rare for the Queen to say “We need to talk.” Usually InuYaa and her mother had playful banter or shared their favorite war and romance stories. Sitting up the princess turned towards her mother and saw the unease. So much happened within the last three days, first the slaughter of their tribe, the pillaging of their people, the murder of her half-siblings at the hands of their own royal guards and the worst was the burning down of the temples dedicated to Lord Anubis and Lord Ra. The young princess could sense the heartbreak of her Queen mother.
“Yes my dear princess daughter. Something has come to our attention,” she regally replied. InuAsantewa did not enjoy treating her daughter like a subject, but she needed to relay the gravity of the issue. She knew all too well the reaction InuYaa would give to this news and hoped that Lord Ra and Lord Anubis were on their side tonight.
“I have much to tell you. The reason we are going to Japan is because we need our fellow Inu-youkai to aide us in getting Inu-Egypt back from our enemies. There has been a rumor for some time now that the young Lord and heir of the West requires a mate. Your father and I believe that you will be perfect for the Lord,” Queen InuAsantewa told her daughter carefully.
“Mother, are you telling me you are using me to gain power in the Lord's court for Inu-Egypt? Truly my parents would not force mating upon me. I am the rightful heiress to Inu-Egypt now that my half-brothers have been slain. You would hand the motherland over to a foreigner?” InuYaa alleged with her temper flaring. The waters around them started to shift violently in response to the flair of energy.
Queen InuAsantewa could feel her daughter's youkai expanding. “Would you decline and sully your Pharaoh Father and your homeland? I am not only your mother but your Queen InuYaa. Surely you trust in our judgment,” she replied evenly while thinking ‘This is not going as I planned.’
“Tis not a matter of trust mother, This InuYaa belongs to no one! I refuse to be used as a barter device for Inu-Egypt when I can return, fight and rule as you and father did,” the princess argued.
“Rule without a Pharaoh?! You will be rejected by your subjects. Lord Sesshoumaru is a powerful ruler. He has expertise. You, my dear, have nothing but us your parents and your temper. You know not the people of Inu-Egypt. You know not how to rule unlike Sesshoumaru the Inu no Taisho of all Inuyoukai,” she explained.
Narrowing her silver eyes at her mother’s words, “Mother do you doubt this InuYaa?” she sarcastically questioned. ‘I can’t believe this is happening to me! Please let this be a dream.’
Unwilling to back down, Queen InuAsantewa raised her youkai brazenly and looked directly into her daughters ghostly gaze. “InuYaa, my little princess, I know we have raised you well my daughter. I wish only to do what is best for you and Egypt. I am merely requesting you assist your Pharaoh and Queen in assuring the further prosperity of our land. Princess InuYaa will you accept this task?” she countered with poise and vigor.
InuYaa hated when her mother pulled rank on her. She loved her homeland, but hated that her parents could rule her life. She stared off towards the sun setting in the sky. It was beautiful. The warm hues of the setting sun and the cool blues of the night sky paralleled her life. She knew nothing of this Lord of the West, but soon if she would accept this offer, she would become his mate for the sake of Inu-Egypt.
“I will accept. Know this mother he may be my mate but my heart belongs to Inu-Egypt and I will NEVER love him,” she answered dryly.
“Your Queen thanks you and daughter love not only your country, your mate will need your heart as well,” she wisely countered. The standoff was over; although the queen won she felt nothing but sorrow for her daughter. This would be an arduous and lonely road. Becoming a mate is hard, becoming a mate in a foreign land is harder but the Western Lord…Sesshoumaru had a reputation of being icy and emotionless. ‘Oh dear Ra what have I done?’
Mother and daughter soberly walked together towards InuAkin. He bowed with his right fist over his heart and told them that they were prepared for departure. The four turned into their energy forms and flew towards Japan. One full day of traveling over India and China the group landed in what would be known as Inuyasha's Forest right at the border of the Western lands on Japan.
“Sire, we have arrived. I do not sense the Lord's aura. Shall we search for him?” InuAkin asked while keeping watch of the area.
“No, let us rest here it is late. We shall travel to the House of the Crescent Moon at dawn.” The Pharaoh answered. He entwined his clawed fingers with his queen and princess while looking at the gentle glow of the full moon on the Goshinboku. The scared energy pulsed in the tree as the Pharaoh’s jackal like ears scanned for any sounds. Hearing footsteps the Pharoah looked at InuAkin as he readied himself for battle.
A scout for Lord Sesshoumaru sensed a powerful youkai in the forest. Lord Sesshoumaru received notice from his Inu-Egyptian kin of their impending arrival in his lands and ordered his scouts to escort them immediately to him if they happen to come upon them.
“Pardon me. I am Kenji, scout for Lord Sesshoumaru of the Western Lands. May I ask what your business here is?” The lanky Inu was built for speed, covered in spots like a Dalmatian; Kenji was adorned in a green simple kimono with matching loose knee-length hakama. The special sandles he wore had long spikes in them, which could be used for running or battle if need be.
InuAkin muscular black body stood defensively before the royal family with spear in hand he answered, “This is the royal party of the Inu-Egyptians, and we request court with Lord Sesshoumaru. Will you take us to him?”
Looking at the Doberman face of InuAkin the scout looked at the picture provided by his Lord and bowed before confirming, “Yes I shall. The great Lord Sesshoumaru is but an hour away. Come,” Kenji said before changing into his white energy form and flying west with the Inu-Egyptians following him in a flash.
The weary group followed the scout to the palace gates. The architecture of the palace was remarkable in size as well as detail. Indigo roof was covered with Japanese clay tiles and several pair of Inu-youkai in their true oni form decorated the top of the roofline to the main entrance. Three ruby colored bridges over a moat-like body of water that guided to lush and remarkable gardens. The entire palace had multiple large cream marble pillars that held up the ancient castle. The massive golden double with two blue sapphire encrusted crescent moon doors opened revealing a foyer painted in vibrant jewel toned colors. A montage of clouds was around the upper parts of the walls depicting ancient battles waged by the previous Taiyoukai's of the West, Lord Sesshoumaru’s father.
Before the group could look around they were asked to take off their footwear. The royal family removed their leather sandals which were replaced by soft blue slippers with the crescent on them InuAkin declined as he was accustomed in being barefoot. The four noble inu were ushered to the sitting area. The sage green room focal point was a single scroll that said welcome in kanji and hieroglyphics with a small bamboo vase with pink orchids. Matching sage pillows surround a simple but elegant wooden low table. Amber colored wooden shoji screens with white rice paper illuminated the area with an ethereal glow.
“Please be seated. Lord Sesshoumaru will meet with you shortly. Would you like some refreshments while you wait?” Kenji asked.
“Yes, water please we have traveled a great distance,” InuAkin answered for the group. He did not trust the Japanese Inu as of yet. When the spotted inu reappeared with the water, the black inu sniffed it with is muzzle and tasted the water first. Deeming it was safe, he served his Pharoah, queen and princess.
After sipping the water Princess InuYaa grew impatient. She looked around the large but plan room. ‘I wonder what he looks like.’ The castle was bustling but oddly quiet. She could sense a large number of youkai and human servants in her vicinity, using her powers the princess closed her eyes she peered into the minds of the demons near her. Alas this is boring all they think about is the task at hand…wait here is one. These filthy human slaves, I wonder why Lord Sesshoumaru keeps them here? Maybe if I, his loyal retainer rid him of them I will be rewarded. Boring, let's see…Ah? Who is this?
The princess tried to open this youkai’s mind but he snarled at her. “Father, why must we wait? We are royalty, he should have been awaiting our arrival,” InuYaa complained.
“This Sesshoumaru was indeed aware of your arrival,” the impassive Lord answered.
Craning her neck over her shoulder, InuYaa was awed at his angelic appearance. His long waist length silver hair, molten golden eyes and imperial demeanor took her by surprise she didn’t sense him and for her that was odd. His emotionless façade and cool gaze made her spine tingle.
Gracefully lowering himself to the low table, Sesshoumaru nodded his greeting and said, “Speak your need, my kin.” A flurry of servants prepared tea in a beautiful ceremony. They place delicious treats of namagashi, dango and sakuramochi before each of them.

Giving a regal nod the Pharaoh spoke. “Lord Sesshoumaru, I, Pharoah InuJaja of Egypt along with Queen InuAsantewa, implore your alliance with ridding our kingdom of the Nubian Panther Tribe. They have been a thorn in my flesh for far too long. Will you aide our cause?” he requested before taking a taste of the sweet treats before him.
“Hn. I am told you are able to aide me with my slight quandary,” Sesshoumaru asked though it sounded more like a statement. He watched with veiled interest at the girl who tried to enter his mind earlier. If it had been any other she would have been slain immediately.
“Yes Lord Sesshoumaru, this Pharaoh offer‘s Princess InuYaa, our only daughter and heiress to Inu-Egypt as your mate.” InuJaja responded with a heavy heart. The stoic one before him gave him no comfort that his precious child would be safe.
The princess bowed her head in respect. She once again attempted to explore his mind and found his barrier to be too firm.
“Acceptable,” he said and stood to leave not touching his tea or the delectable treats before him.
“You will stay as my guest while we plan to attack the vermin.” Turning towards Kenji he barked out orders for the Pharoah and Queen to be shown to their room. InuAkin followed them.
“Come princess,” he said leading her towards a long hallway.
Remembering her royal training, InuYaa gathered her two scimitars, Ankue and Khonsu, placing then on her sides followed Sesshoumaru five paces behind him, her nerves were getting the best of her. ‘Why am I nervous? He is just another youkai…right?’ Staring at the demon lord in front of her she again tried to see into his mind.
Halting with irritation he said, “It is futile to use telepathy on this Sesshoumaru,” looking over his shoulder.
“Well this InuYaa would not have to resort to trickery if my intended would speak with me,” callously remarked. Her hands glided towards Ankue and Khonsu cautiously after feeling a spike in Sesshoumaru’s inner beast.
With a delicately raised eyebrow Sesshoumaru turned and quickly mounted a seething InuYaa to the palace wall by her neck. “Take care to learn your place bitch, or you shall be punished by this Sesshoumaru. You will cease your insolence and only speak when I speak to you. You will NOT threaten this Sesshoumaru with your weapons while under my protection in my home.” He warned in a dangerously low tone allowing his eyes to bleed crimson to show his true intent.
After coming face to face with the perfect killer and seeing death in his eyes, InuYaa became nervous but savored his threat as it sent tingles through her to be overpowered. The blue poison from her claws seeped out hitting the bamboo tatami mat with a sizzle. Feeling his grasp tighten, the warrior princesses exposed the vulnerable flesh of her dainty neck to submit hoping he would nuzzle her in acceptance instead of ripping out her throat.
Upon her yielding Sesshoumaru growled softly in her ear and caressed her jaw line with his lips as protocol demanded of him. The demon lord inhaled her scent, lotus and iris, and slowly moved away from her relaxed form. “Come princess our courting begins.”
InuYaa looked into his molten gaze with a wanton desire. Her limbs tingled and her breaths were ragged. She wanted to complete the mating right there in the hallway and would if reality didn't hit her that this wasn't her choice. She was mating for convenience. Angered by her inner youkai eagerness to submit, she sneered at herself. ‘How is it that he can handle this InuYaa in such a way?! I am a princess, heiress of Inu-Egypt!’
The couple arrived to a maze made of white and red rose bushes. Sesshoumaru lead InuYaa to the middle of the maze wherein was two small koi fish pond in shape of a yin yang with a waterfall in the background. Smooth gray stones made a small ledge for them to sit. InuYaa sat down, removed her slippers and placed her feet into the pond with the black koi and white river rocks. Having an oddly tender moment Sesshoumaru sat behind his back against the princess supporting her weight and placed his feet into the opposite pond with the white koi and black river rocks.
“If I may, my…lord, why do you need a mate?” she asking hesitantly. After a long pause she figured her inquiry would go unanswered. ‘Why did I even bother?’
Sighing inwardly he reluctantly answered her. “To retain possession of my lands and to have an heir,” he said monotone. In truth, Sesshoumaru didn’t want to mate. He felt that women were troublesome. Many wars had been started over the affections of a woman and he refused to succumb to that level of idiocy.
Swishing her toes around the beautiful black koi the princess asked, “And what of love?”
“This Sesshoumaru has no need for love for I feel no emotions,” he replied with a slight frown gracing his perfect face the white koi swamp around his slender feet.
“That's unbelievable. You feel anger or irritation…right? That's an emotion. So it's possible for you to experience the joys of love,” InuYaa replied with a giggle as the fish were now tickling her. Her sheer clothing slowly becoming soggy from the wet stones.
Exasperated by her disbelief Sesshoumaru countered harshly, “Joys of love? Love is for weak peons. This Sesshoumaru has no weakness.”
“Ah,” the princess sighed in defeat. ‘This is useless he is the great youkai lord and I merely a spoil of Inu-Egypts misfortune and alliance between nations. Why can’t I have the romantic ending my parents had? Where are his declarations to loving me through all eternity? Is this what my sacrifice for Inu-Egypt will be? Another slaughtered Inu princess for the sake of an heir and peace? Is this what you want from me Lord Ra and Lord Anubis for me to wither away?’
Sensing her unease Sesshoumaru tenderly turned towards InuYaa and wrapped his clawed fingers around her fingers. “Is this love important to you princess?
“Yes it is.” She quickly said. “Alas what I want is of no consequence. I will be your mate hence you will have an heir and as many concubines as you desire,” she said weakly. Her sorrow filled the garden as dawn approached. All of the recent events hit her at once. The blood splattered remains in her home, the wild fires that ravaged the temples, the scent of death as she killed her would be murders and the frantic screams of her siblings she was unable to save due to InuAkin whisking her away from danger. She had failed to protect them, even with all her training and skill she failed and her younger siblings paid the ultimate price.
“What of your happiness?” he asked curiously sensing she was not present but far away in her homeland. As she let her guard down Sesshoumaru took a peek into her thoughts and saw the destruction her family was forced to flee. He could feel her exhaustion setting in.
“My happiness is of no concern my lord. I am here for the alliance not of my own free will. I shall serve my Pharoah father and Queen mother for the prosperity of Inu-Egypt,” she said stoically before passing out into Sesshoumaru’s arms.
Would she presume that this Sesshoumaru cannot make her happy? Nonsense. No mate of mine will be unhappy I refuse to watch her wither away as my mother did. Perhaps I can give her this love she desires.
