.:*The Young Ward and the Lord*:.

As Kagome slowly follows Yume down a long hallway she notices the walls are covered with many pictures of Youkai Lords and their ladies. In one of the pictures she recognized a younger Sesshoumaru. This younger version of the demon lord had chubby cheeks, but he still wore his traditional white outfit with only a smirk on his face and a cold stare that could have frozen a desert. Right next to him was Inuyasha in his red haroi. Inuyasha�s chubby cheeks held a smile from ear to ear and stood only a head shorter than Sesshoumaru. But unlike Sesshoumaru cold eyes, Inuyasha�s eyes where warm and full of life, like the sun. Behind them were two figures she had never seen. One was a very tall and muscular youkai with a silver hair and blue moon upon his forehead. Next to him was a human female with long black hair. But that is all Kagome was able to see as she walked by.
�That must have been Sesshoumaru�s dad and Inuyasha�s mom,� she thought to herself.
At the end of the hallway Kagome could see two big black and white marble doors trimmed in gold and vine shaped door handles. Yume led Kagome right up to the doors, before turning to face her.
�My lady, through these doors is the dinning room. Lord Sesshoumaru will not be joining you, but his young ward, Rin, will.�
�Rin?�
�Yes, she has been living here for a long time and has become the Lord's ward. I will see you later my lady,� Yume replied before she bowed to Kagome.
As Yume started walking away � Yume��
Yume stopped and turned to looked at the young woman before her �Yes�
�Please call me Kagome��
�If it pleases you, i may call you by your given name in private, but in the presence of others I can not. Lord Sesshomaru would be very displeased with me.�
�Oh, I understand.�
Yume once again bowed before she left. Kagome looked at Yume�s retreating figure before she turned to open one of the doors to the dining room. As soon as the door opened a screeching voice reached her ears.
�You dumb child, sit in your seat.�
�Excuse me,� Kagome yelled as she opened the door to see that the screeching voice belonged to none other than the green toad demon that followed Sesshoumaru everywhere, Jaken. He stood in front of a long white marble table and chairs as he yelled at a young girl who was running around the room.

Jaken turned to look at Kagome and his mouth practically fell to the floor. Once he regain his composure he muttered �Another human�What is Lord Sesshoumaru thinking?�
�Jaken do you dare question me,� asked a low silky voice from behind Kagome.
Kagome turned around to come face to face with none other than the stoic demon lord himself. She had never been this close to him and what she saw took her breath away. He was flawless. His entire body seemed to sparkle, but even so she could still see the anger directed at Jaken in his sun golden eyes. From behind Kagome Jaken begged for forgiveness, but he was forgotten as Sesshoumaru stared at Kagome.
�She is more beautiful than i remember.... since when did i think of her as beautiful �
�From the first time you met her, when she was with your half brother Inuyasha, when she could pull the sword out of your father�s tomb, and you could not� Sesshoumaru�s inner demon spoke up inside his head.
�This human wench could never be beautiful,� Sesshoumaru barked back.
�Well wench are you going to just stare at me or are you going to go and eat?�
Kagome quickly turned to walk into the dinning room as a slight blush appeared in her cheeks as she realized that she was staring at Sesshoumaru.

�Jaken, this miko will be joining Rin for breakfast and she will also be staring here in the castle for awhile, understood?�

�Yes, My lord,� Jaken stuttered as he gave a deep bow.

Sesshoumaru took one quick look at the two humans in the room. Kagome still had her back to him, but he could smell her embarrassment. He smirked to himself and then his eyes landed upon his ward. She wore a new orange kimono with yellow vines intertwinging up around her left sleeve and neck line. Her hair was pulled back with a red tie into a small pony tail. Her tan skin complimented her shinning brown eyes and her ear to ear smile her that she directed towards him. He gave Rin a small nod of acknowledgement before closing the door, causing Rin to smile brightly at him.

Rin ran up to the young women that just entered the room.
�Excuses me pretty lady,� Rin said as she tugged on Kagome�s kimono.
�Me, pretty?�
�Yes, Rin finds you very pretty. Rin�s name is Rin. Rin wonders what is the pretty lady�s name?�
�My name is Kagome, and thank you for calling pretty.�
�Kagome.....Rin likes your name,�the young girl said with smile
�Thank you and I like yours too.�
�Rin wants to eat with Kagome,� Rin replied as she grabbed Kagome�s hand and pulled her towards the table.
Kagome helped Rin into her chair, before seating herself. There were already plates on the table filled with scrabbled eggs, hash browns, pancakes and bacon. Rin did most of talking. She talked about how much she liked to run in the fields and pick flowers. She also talked about decorating Jaken and How enjoyed seeing Sesshoumaru help Jaken to fly. Kagome could only laugh at the stories of Jaken�s �flying adventures.� Just before the meal was over Kagome decided to ask Rin a question.
�Rin, how come you live with Sesshoumaru?
�Rin lives with Sesshoumaru-sama, because he brought Rin back to life after a pack of mean wild wolves killed Rin. Rin has been with Sesshoumaru-sama ever since.�
Kagome was shocked and quickly asked �Sesshoumaru, saved you?�
�Yes,� Rin chirped with a smile
�I would have never thought that Sesshoumaru would have saved a human girl or allow her to live here. Come to think about it, why am I even allowed here? I am also a human...Lord Sesshomaru is far more mysterious than i thought... maybe he is not as bad as Inuyasha says he is....� Kagome thought to herself as she watched Rin finish her meal with a smile on her face.
Suddenly one of the doors behind Kagome opened to reveal Yume. Kagome turned and smiled at the neko youkai.
�My lady... Kagome if you are done Lord Sesshoumaru would like to speak to you.�
�Yes, I�m done,� Kagome replied before she got up out of her seat
As Kagome stated to leave Rin asked �Kagome, will Rin see you later?�
Kagome turned to look at her with a smile.
�I don�t know, but I�ll ask Sess� Lord Sesshoumaru.�
Rin quickly jumped out of her chair and ran to Kagome grabbing a hold of one of her legs. Kagome bent down and gave Rin a quick hug.
�Bye pretty lady. Rin hope to see you soon.�
�I hope to see you soon also,� Kagome replied before she let go of Rin and turned to walk towards Yume.

Sesshoumaru sat in a wooden chair at a long wooden in a huge of library with book shelves that seem to never end. The book shelves were full of books on magic, youkai, mikos, magical artifacts, prophesies and even fiction and nonfiction stories. The walls were painted dark maroon in color and the ceiling was pained black. On the wall behind Sesshoumaru was a huge window with curtains that gradual transition from maroon at the top to black at the bottom. The sun filled the room with a bright light, but as in every room in the castle there were candles on the walls, in addition there was also a few candles upon on the shinny wooden table. On the table before the lord were many books, quills and pieces of parchments. In his hand he held a scroll when a knock was heard from the door.
�Enter,� he commanded
When the door opened Kagome walked into the room and looked at the library in shock. She had never seen such a library. Sure she had been to giant libraries with several floors of books, but this one room seemed to hold even more books. Finally her eyes landed upon the demon lord.
�Lord Sesshoumaru, you wish to speak to me?�
Sesshoumaru sat down the scroll that he was reading and ran his eyes over the young women before him.
�She�s beautiful..... I can�t think about her, a human, like that. But even for a human she looks better than the rest.�
�Stop lying to yourself, you�ve like her ever since you laid your eyes on her,� His inner youkai yelled
Sesshoumaru ignored his inner youkai, even thought he knew that it was correct.
Finally he spoke to her �What happened?�
�I'm sorry?�
�Last night. Why were you covered in blood?�
�Last night....I remember our group stumbled upon Naraku. We had begun to fight each other, but Naraku managed to get a hold of me. He told Inuyasha to leave or he would hurt me. When Inuyasha refused to leave Narkau attacked me with his claws� after that i think i blacked out after being scratched with his poisonous claws.... but i am not sure....I don�t remember anything else until I woke up this morning and found myself here. Why do i not have any wounds and how did i get here?�
�Last night I was checking my borders, when iI smelt blood and that is when I saw you stagger into the clearing on my eastern border. You where covered in blood and had many wounds. You were about to die when you asked me to make the pain to go away. That was when my sword began to pulse and as a experiment. I used it.�
�Your sword pulsed? experiment?�
�Yes, when ever it wants to be used it glows blue and begins to pulse. There is always a reason for it wanting to heal someone. I used it to find out why it wanted to heal you.�
�Oh, well thank you Lord Sesshoumaru,� She quickly bows as she responds.
�What is your name, miko?�
�Kagome.�
�When you came to me last night you did not only have your blood upon you, but also my brothers. His blood smelled of decay, I believe he is gone from this world.�
Tears threatened to flow as she asked �What?�
�He. Is. Gone.�
Tears flowed down her cheeks at hearing this news. Her legs trembled , her knees gave out and she crumbled to floor as she continued to cry.
No, no, no, it can�t be true. He can�t be dead. Not Inuyasha. I never got a chance to tell him that I loved him. No� not Inuyasha. Please Kami no.
Sesshoumaru knew that she loved his baka brother and that it would destroy her to know that he was dead, but he also knew that he needed to tell her. He could see her body shake as she cried and curled up into ball. He slowly walked over to her and picked her up into his one arm and using his tail held her bridal style.
�Kagome, Naraku did not take your jewel from you. You still need to collect the rest of the jewel and I will take of Naraku, but for now rest,� Sesshoumaru whispered to as he held her close. He decided to to take her to her room, where she could rest. Upon entering her room he put her down on the bed, before turning to leave the crying girl alone.

Later on that evening�
The shoji doors to Kagome�s room opened and little Rin stuck her head onto the room. In her hand was a glass vase with a variety of flowers. She quietly walked over to the bed and saw that Kagome was still awake.
�Pretty Lady, Sesshoumaru-sama told me that you could visit Rin in a few days, but that you were not feeling well. So Rin picked you some flowers,� Rin said as she showed Kagome the vase of full of a rainbow of flowers.
Kagome could only nod in response to the young girl whos face no longer held a smile.
�Rin,� came the low silky voice from the doorway.
�Sorry, Sesshoumaru-sama I just wanted to give Lady Kagome, these flowers.�
�Put them on the table and say goodnight. She needs her rest.�
�Good night pretty lady,� Rin quietly said before turning to do as she was told.
�Rin, you also need to go to bed, Jaken will escort you,� Sesshoumaru told her as he motioned to his toad servant that stood behind him.
�Good night Sesshoumaru-sama.�
Sesshoumaru nodded and then watched as Rin and Jaken�s forms slowly walked away and then disappear around a corner.
Sesshoumaru walked into Kagome�s room and sat down onto the bed. He pushed a few stands of hair away from her eyes. He could tell that she had been crying and for some reason it bothered him. He wanted to comfort her in some way....
�I know that you cared for him, but instead of crying, prove that his death was not in vain. Finish what you started with my half- brother,� Sesshoumaru softly whispered.
Kagome could only look at Sesshoumaru with a tired face and tear filled eyes. Without a second thought he crawled on to her bed and pulled her his lap and began to slowly rock the young miko. She started to cry again and to try to sooth her he softly purred as he continued to rock her. Finally her body gave out and sleep took over her. With out waking the young miko he moved off the bed and placed her back in her bed.
Sesshoumaru slowly pulled the covers up over her body and moved her hair out of her closed eyes. With a soft sigh he turned to exit her room. Standing just outside of her room he thought to himself � I don�t know if can take much more of seeing her like this.�
