Author note-
Hey everyone. I’m happy I got so many nice reviews for my first chapter. Yes I know it was a tear jerker, even I cried while I was writing it. Lol. Okay now I was asked a very good question and it deserves an answer Kathleen you asked why Shippo’s father wasn’t brought back to life. Awesome question, I actually forgot to mention it and it’s kinda late to put it in my story now with out making it seem weird, so that’s my fault, sorry. But the answer is Kagome said “I wish every innocent human or demon that was killed because of the shikon no tama and Naraku was brought back to life”. The jewel twisted the wish. Shippo’s father came into contact with the jewel, but not Naraku and that is why he wasn’t brought back. Hope that answered your question. Hope you all enjoy the this chapter!
Chapter two
Kagome took a deep breath before slowly releasing it. She took a step forward before turning around and heading back the way she came. Nope, she couldn’t do it. She’d try again tomorrow, maybe then she’d make it inside the building. She wasn’t as ready as she had thought she was. It had been 2 months since she had come back from the feudal era; a month since she had stopped crying and instead just sulked around the house. Finally her mother suggested she try to get back into a normal routine. Wake up, go to school, come home, do homework, possibly hang out with friend before or after homework, eat 3 meals during the day, and then go to sleep at night. It took a few tries, but she was finally out of the house, but the going back to school was proving to be difficult. It too reminded her of Inuyasha. He wasn’t going to be showing up there anymore. No more surprise visits.
“Kagome!” a male voice called and unknowingly brought her out of her depressing thoughts.
Turning around she put on a smile “Hojo!”
He stopped in front of her and gave that same goofy smile “it’s nice to see you back at school again” his face turned a little more serious “I heard there was a tragedy in your family, it’s why you haven’t been coming”
Kagome gave a small nod. Her family had decided that in order to give her the time she needed to grieve they would tell the school that a member of her family that she was very close to passed away. It was not a complete lie. Just that the person wasn’t family and died 500 years ago. Suddenly remembering that someone was in front of her, she replied “yes that’s right, but now that I’m here, I’m starting to think I’m not as ready as I thought I was”
He gave her a warm smile before grabbing her hand “sometimes it’s best to just do it and get it over with” he then started leading her to the school “at least try one class, if you find it you can’t do it, then talk with the school and go home” he then looked back at her while they continued walking into the school “now what class do you have first?”
She smiled and followed him in “thanks Hojo” getting him to release her hand she opened her bag and pulled out her schedule “it says I have history with an S. Taisho”
Hojo gave her a huge smile “oh Mr. Taisho, you’ll like him”
“I’ve never heard of him, is he new?” she asked
“Yes, he just started here at the beginning of the semester 2 and half months ago” he answered “everyone liked him right away. He looks to be quite young and the girls fancy him, but he has a son who looks to be about our age, I haven’t seen him, but others who have said they could be mistaken for brothers”
Kagome smiled. It sounded like for her first class she was going to have a good looking teacher for her history class “what are his teachings like?”
“Well I don’t have him, but I haven’t heard any complaints from both the girls and the boys” he answered as he stopped in front of a room “well this is his class” he turned to look at her “try it, if it doesn’t work, you go home and try again later”
She smiled and nodded “thanks again Hojo” watching him walk away she finally turned to the door. She stared at it for a moment, knowing that class had already started; she was starting to feel nervous. Taking a deep breath she knocked on the door. She heard a deep and smooth voice telling her to come in. For a moment she could have sworn she known the voice, but she couldn’t remember who, it sounded deeper than she remembered. She concluded this man just had one of those voices that you thought you knew, but didn’t. Releasing the breath she’d been holding she slowly opened the door, her head down as she slowly walked in.
“And who might you be?” the voice came again. Without the door to muffle it, it sounded deep and smoother almost like the man could be a singer.
Not looking up, she answered “I am Kagome Higurashi, sir”
“Higurashi?” he questioned, at her nod, he continued “yes I remember seeing your name on the class sheet…you are late for my class”
She gave a nod, still not looking, she felt very shy after a long absence from school “yes, I’m sorry sir”
“Try to see that it doesn’t happen again” he replied sternly. When she nodded again without looking at him, he smirked, “Higurashi?”
“Yes sir?” she asked as she took a quick glance to the left to see her classmates staring in her direction. Some were even whispering, wondering who she was, why she was absent for so long, what the teacher was going to do.
“A bit of history for you; hundreds of years ago not looking at someone while speaking with them was considered disrespectful. More often than not, the offended party would slice the head off of their offender” he then walked till he was right in front of her “in today’s world it is still custom when talking with someone that you talk with them face to face out of respect and acknowledgement”
“Sorry, sir” Kagome replied as she slowly raised her head to look at him. She gasped at the sight she saw. It was like seeing a ghost. Standing at 6’4 with his bright ember eyes and his long silver hair done neatly in a ponytail was Sesshoumaru, just no markings.
He gave her a small smirk; his eyes letting her know he knew who she was “take your seat, Higurashi”
Kagome could only nod before moving and finding an empty seat near the back of the class. Throughout the class, she just continued to stare at him. Unbelieving what her eyes were seeing. He didn’t have the markings on his face that he used to have back then, but his eyes and hair were the same color. Taking time to study him between writing notes she noticed that he did seem older. He still looked young for a youkai over 500yrs old, but he had aged some over the centuries. He had a more mature look and his eyes held more wisdom. She couldn’t quite place it, but he seemed so much different now than he did then, but yet, still the same. She nearly jumped when the bell suddenly rang.
“Higurashi, come here a moment” came that familiar voice. Now that she knew it was him, she could hear the difference in his voice, it sounded older, but not by much. Watching as he opened one of his desk drawers, he pulled out a small folder and looked at her “these are the notes and assignments you missed, I am giving you a chance to make up the missing work since you were away due to a tragedy in your family” his look telling her he knew the real reason “You have until the end of the month to finish them. If you find that you need help understanding something or it isn’t enough time to complete the assignments then come speak with me about it and we will see what we can do”
She gave a silent, still shocked to see him, nod. She watched as he turned his head to see the last of the students leave before standing up and walking around his desk, stopping in front of her and leaning against his desk, arms folded. He stared at her a moment, his eyes never leaving hers “it‘s been along time…Kagome, about 500yrs correct?”
Hearing him say it out loud let her know she wasn‘t dreaming, Sesshoumaru was really before her and in her time. She was suddenly filled with a thousand questions. But for now, her voice could only settle for one “h-how?”
“Questions will be answered at a later time” he answered as he stood up straight while placing a hand on her shoulder to gently nudge her towards the door “right now, you have another class to be getting to and I’d rather you weren’t late for that one as well”
Quickly Kagome stopped at the door, spinning around to face him “before I leave, I have to know” she said desperately “where are Inuyasha and Shippo?”
He sighed “Kagome, go to your classes”
“No!” she stated firmly “not until I know about them”
He raised an eyebrow “I am still a teacher of this school and you are a student, now go to class, you will not be late because of me.”
She glared at him “tell me Sesshoumaru” she spoke quite firmly.
Seeing she wasn’t going to leave without some kind of answer, he again nudged her to the door “come back here after school, we’ll talk then without the worry of you being late for class”
Kagome frowned, realizing he wasn’t going to answer while school was still going on. She nodded and headed to the door, opening it, she paused before looking at him with a small glare “I will be here after school to get them”
He smirked at her and gave a nod “and I look forward to seeing you after classes and answering any questions you have” as she started to leave, he quickly grabbed her arm and whispered in her ear “and I would be calling me Mr. Taisho while there are still students and teachers walking around. Someone may get the wrong idea if they caught you calling me by my first name on the first day of your return”
She blushed and nodded “sorry, Mr. Taisho”
“Save it for after school, now get before you are late” he answered and gave her a small push out the door.
Kagome went through the day going to her classes. Her friends were nice enough to give her time to adjust to everything and weren’t bombarding her with senseless prattle. In fact for the most part they left her alone. They merely said their hellos and talked about how happy she was back and then they left. She could only assume that possibly Hojo talked with them and told them she was still finding it a little difficult coming back to school and everything going on as if nothing happened. If he did do that, she would have to thank him as it gave her more time to think about her early morning surprise that she had. She was still finding it hard to believe that the all powerful western youkai lord was now living in her time and was a school teacher. She let herself laugh a little at the thought he was a history teacher no less. She quickly glanced at the food in front of her and poked it for a minute. She hated cafeteria food. She then felt someone sit down beside her
“Kagome, you’re still here”
Turning her head, she smiled “yes, I’ve ended up staying” looked at him, she asked “Hojo, did you talk with the girls?”
He looked at her and smiled “after talking with you this morning I could tell you weren’t all comfortable to be back here, so I may have mentioned to them to take it easy”
Kagome gave him a grateful smile “thank you, that means a lot to me” when he nodded, she then asked “Hojo, what all do you know about Mr. Taisho?”
He gave a small shrug “not much since I don’t have him, but I’ve heard others say he moved here from some place about three months ago with his son and he’s been teaching here for two and a half months. Also that he doesn’t put up with any nonsense and dislikes students late for his class” he tried to think “oh and also he never leaves his class room till the end of the day or unless called out by another teacher or the principal”
Kagome gave a nod and went back to her meal. That sounded like Sesshoumaru. She couldn’t hold back the grin that his son must be Shippo. She certainly hoped so, but frowned when she figured after 500years he would most likely have had a son of his own, maybe more. It made sense, she remembered Hojo had said earlier they could be mistaken for brothers and Sesshoumaru and Shippo did not look alike. Their hair were completely different and their eyes were completely different colors. She sighed; it was most likely Sesshoumaru’s biological son. The idea of meeting him had her smiling again as the bell rang and she walked off to her next class with Hojo walking beside her.
Classes seem to drag on forever before the final bell ran. Kagome was quick to gather all her missed assignments that the teachers gave her and then walked down the halls until she reached her destination. She waited as the students continued to file out of the class and when it finally seemed like no more were coming out she walked in. She smiled at watching the taiyoukai at a desk marking papers.
“Have a seat, Higurashi” he said without looking up at her. She did as he told and waited. After 10minutes he placed his pen down, got up, walked over to the door and locked it “now that I’m sure we won’t be interrupted” he looked at her “how can I help you?”
“You can answer my questions” she replied.
He smirked “I’m sure you have many” he walked over to her and took a seat in the desk beside her “I’m sure the first few questions will be regarding your friends and what happened to them. The hanyou and the kitsune being first on your mind” at her nod, he continued “Inuyasha passed away about 60 years after you left”
“H-how?” she asked quietly.
Sesshoumaru looked at her and could already see the signs of unshed tears “he wasn’t killed if that’s what you think, instead he died of old age”
“But you’re alive and I already know your well over 500years old” she started, confused “he was hanyou surely he would live to be at least half of how ever old youkai live to be”
“That is a complicated thing to explain” he reasoned “it’s something I will explain at a later time, I promise, right now I’m sure you want to hear about the rest of your friends” watching her sit back and nod, he started again “Shippo is alive and still lives with me”
Kagome gasped before quickly standing up and leaning in close to him “I want to see him”
He stared at her “would you like to know about the rest of your friends or not?” he could tell she was torn between wanting to know and wanting to see at least one of them alive “you can see Shippo later, I know he wants to see you as well” he narrowed his eyes a little “he hasn’t stopped annoying me since realizing your journey through the well has ended”
Sitting back down she gave a small smile at the thought of Shippo “how come you two didn’t come see me sooner?”
“I had guessed that once you returned and learned the well wasn’t working you would be quite upset” he answered “us stopping by only to tell you what I’m telling you now would have only left you very distraught. It was agreed that we would give you time to grieve for everyone else before showing ourselves to you” he gave an amused smile “you probably would have seen me sooner if you had come to school at the beginning of the semester instead of traveling around to find that vile hanyou for those two weeks. When I was hired for being the history teacher here and saw your name I surely thought I made a mistake coming back to Tokyo before I knew the hanyou was defeated and you were stuck in this time”
“You mean you knew when I was going to be stuck here?” she asked, confused again.
“Having brought Shippo to the village from time to time to visit with everyone; Inuyasha and I grew more tolerant of each other and that’s when he confided in me the date you were born and the date it would have been in your time that Naraku was defeated”
“Oh” she replied dumbly, she was surprised Inuyasha knew the dates and had kept track of them “so what happened to Miroku and Sango?”
“The slayer found her brother and he ended up living in the village with them for awhile. The monk and slayer had about 10 children, their decedents are still running around Tokyo. Kohaku ended up leaving the village for awhile before coming back to settle down with Rin”
Kagome gave a happy smile “Rin and Kohaku got married?”
Sesshoumaru nodded “yes and had 6 children”
“I’m so happy for them” she grinned. She had been feeling sad knowing they were all dead, but the fact they married and had children, made her happier “did Inuyasha and Kikyo marry?”
“They did get married, once everyone got over the fact you were really gone and not coming back” he answered.
“Did they have any children?” she prodded.
“No, for some reason they couldn’t seem to sire any children” he replied. Seeing her frown, he went on “but they did end up taking in many orphan children who lost their parents to war, famine or disease”
She smiled softly at the thought of Inuyasha taking in children without a home and raising them “that’s good to hear, I’m sad they couldn’t have any children of their own”
“There are still demons today” he mentioned “some are doctors, mainly only helping youkai patients. They did a study and learned that hanyous cannot have children. The demon blood in them will only allow itself to be half and nothing less. Hanyous who were to mate with a youkai or other hanyou, chances of them having a child are better than with a human where there’s no chance”
Kagome nodded her understanding of the explanation “still I fill feel sorry Inuyasha couldn’t have a child of his own blood” she then smiled “but I’m happy he gave a home for the orphans, how many did him and Kikyo raise?”
Sesshoumaru thought for a moment “I believe there were 15 of them, human, hanyou and youkai” at her nod he stood up “I believe we have been here long enough, come, I’ll drive you home”
She stood up and followed him “I’m still finding it a little hard to believe you are here” she then let out a small laugh “and driving no less”
The taiyoukai turned his head and looked at her “that is because I am a youkai and a taiyoukai for that matter. Taiyoukai can live for a long time that people believe we are immortal and the only things that can kill us are monks and mikos or if we’re in a fierce battle we will die of our wounds”
“So you’re still considered young right now?” she questioned
He chuckled “compared to you, no”
She continued to walk beside him into the parking lot “so how old, exactly, are you?”
Showing her to his black car, a 2008 hummer h2, he paused in his steps and looked at her with a smirk “over 500yrs old, Kagome”
She raised an eyebrow “that’s not exactly your age, I asked exactly how old are you”
Opening the passenger side door for her he chuckled as she got in “I’m older than Inuyasha was 500yrs ago” and shut the told before she could say anything. Getting into the drivers side, she continued.
“Of course you were older than Inuyasha was, you were his older brother, but how old are you?” she persisted.
Seeing she wasn’t going to let up, he finally answered “I am 1,000 years old; I was about 300 when Inuyasha was born”
Kagome gapped at him for a moment before turning to look out the window. After a moment of silence, she realized he was suppose to be taking her home and he seemed to be going the right way “how do you know where I live?”
“Inuyasha told me” he answered “he told me everything, any detail that would later help me find you”
“Find me?” she asked curious “why?”
Stopping at a light he looked at her “He knew that you would always wonder what happened to everyone if someone was not around that could not tell you. He felt you would never be able to fully live your life without knowing, so he told me everything I needed to know so I could find you” then continued when the light turned green to her place.
“Are you going to be leaving then now that you’ve told me everything?” at his raised eyebrow, she explained “well you’ve told me what happened with everyone so now you are done doing the favor Inuyasha asked of you”
Stopping at the bottom of the shrine stairs he turned to look at her “true I have done the favor Inuyasha asked of me, but I cannot leave”
She looked at him confused “why?”
He smirked “Shippo would not allow it”
Kagome grinned at the thought “no I bet he wouldn’t, but I can’t believe you’d consider his feelings”
His smirk turned into a genuine smile “500 years can change anyone, I have learned that”
“You’ll have to tell me sometime” she replied. He nodded and watched as she started to get out, but suddenly paused and twisted herself to look back at him “when can I see Shippo?”
He chuckled “no doubt as soon as I tell him you’ve shown up for school, he’ll want to see you as soon as possible. I’ll try to make him wait for after school tomorrow, I believe you have a good deal of homework”
She frowned at that thought “enough to last me to the end of the year” she then smiled “I just hope I can get it all done in time” she laughed.
He gave a nod “should you need help just ask, after all I am your teacher”
“Thanks, I still find that weird too, bye” she retorted as she closed the door to his hummer and climbed up the shrine steps.
Today was a good first day back to school. She grinned as she thought about everything that had happened. She felt much happier than she did that morning. Her spirit seemed completely lifted as she easily made her way up the steps and towards the house.
Aksumi watched her daughter as she came home and was a little surprised to see her child smiling as if she just won a million dollars. As surprised as she was through she was also relieved. Whatever happened at school seemed to have cheered her daughter up from her depression. She smiled as she watched her first born walk in with an excited bounce in her step “I take it you had a good first day at school?”
Kagome nodded, anxious to tell her mother, she couldn’t hold it in “I had a fantastic time, I ran into someone I would never have expected to see”
Aksumi looked on in curiosity “and who would that be?”
“Sessh-ou-ma-ru” she answered happily. After learning the well had close, she had told her mother about all of her adventures in the well, so now her mother knew everything.
Her mother gasped “thee Sesshoumaru? Inuyasha’s older brother?”
Kagome nodded “yes and I’ll get to see Shippo tomorrow”
“Shippo is around as well?” she inquired, it would be nice to meet the little fox youkai that her daughter raised while she was there.
Kagome nodded again and was practically dancing on the spot at the thought of seeing him again. Then she heard her mother ask about Inuyasha and she stopped frowned as she remembered what the taiyoukai had told her “he-he passed away 60 years after I left, he had no children, but he did marry Kikyo and together they adopted about 15 children of all kinds. Human, hanyou and youkai”
Immediately Aksumi wrapped her baby girl in a hug. She hadn’t meant to ruin her daughter’s happy mood, but at least now she knew about the hanyou that had felt like family to them. She smiled as she thought of away to cheer her up and pulled away to look at her “how about I make oden and you tell me all about your day and your talk with Sesshoumaru?” seeing the girl smiled she laughed “but I need you to go pick up some of the ingredients to make it”
Kagome again smiled and nodded “okay” and followed her mother to find out what was needed. After getting the list she headed to the store with the money she was given. A smile came to her face as she thought about tomorrow and what was to happen afterwards. She would be seeing Shippo again soon and she couldn’t wait.
“Kagome!” a male voice called out to her.
She stopped, not recognizing the voice. It wasn’t like any voice she heard before. This voice was deep, but still held a childish tone to it. Slowly she started turning around wondering who would be calling for her. After all, Kagome was not a popular name so the person had to have been calling to her. Turning completely around, she saw a young man with a huge grin on his face, running up to her. He was slightly taller than her by two or three inches and he had brown hair done up in a high ponytail; he wore blue jeans and a green t-shirt. He didn’t look much older than her either she noticed.
She took a startled step back when she realized this guy wasn’t going to stop until he literally ran into her. She let out a small startled squeal as this young man was quick to wrap her up in a strong almost bear like hug. Standing completely still, she tried to think of away to get this guy to let her go. Suddenly, she realized he was sniffing her, time to get the creepy guy off her “e-excuse me, but who are you? And...” she glared “are you sniffing me?”
Immediately the guy backed off looking rather embarrassed with his behavior “guess I got over excited” he looked at her and gave a shy laugh “I must have scared you pretty good”
Kagome just stared at him. He looked almost familiar like she’d seen him before “do I know you?”
He gave a soft smile “you haven’t changed at all, but I suppose I look really different now that I’m grown up”
“Now that you’re grown up?” she tried to think this through because at the moment she was getting really confused “all grow-“she gasped as she stared at him and took in his joyful green eyes “S-Shippo?” at his grin and nod she gave an excited yell before jumping and wrapping her arms around his neck “Shippo!”
Quickly he wrapped his arms around her again, holding her tightly, and spoke in a calmer voice “hey Kagome”
Kagome could feel herself starting to cry she was so happy. He was really there, in her time, and all grown up “Sesshoumaru said I would see you tomorrow”
Shippo pulled back a little to get a good look at her; he too had some tears in his eyes. He gave a small laugh as he wiped her tears away “yeah that’s what he told me too” he responded “but once he told me he talked with you I was out the door faster than you could blink. I didn’t want to want till tomorrow”
Kagome started laughing and hard “I guess I wasn’t the only one”
Shippo watched her a little confused “huh?”
“I’m sorry Shippo” she toned her laughing down “I was just thinking before you showed up that I was going to see you tomorrow and how I couldn’t wait” she started laughing again “I guess I wasn’t the only one, but you did something about it”
Finally understanding, he too allowed himself to laugh at the situation “talk about good timing, you think about me and suddenly I show out of the blue and wrap you in a big hug” he laughed hard “that is funny”
They laughed for a moment longer before controlling themselves. Shippo then offered to walk with her as she went to the store to get her ingredients for supper that night “I have to admit you scared me when you just came up and hugged me” she said as they walked around the shopping store.
He chuckled “sorry about that, I guess it would have freaked out any body if someone they had never seen before was calling their name and suddenly was gripping them in a hug and sniffing them”
She raised an eyebrow as she grabbed a package of some meat “why were you sniffing me?”
Shippo blushed “well, we spent so much time together back then. I used to sleep with you and bath with you and was normally in your arms” he explained “it was only natural being as young as I was that I grew familiarized with your scent. It had always given me comfort and I missed it” he chuckled “so when Sesshoumaru said that he saw you today I immediately took off to see you. Inuyasha told of us the shrine where you grew up, so I knew where it was. I was only going to watch you and settle for seeing you tomorrow, but I grew so excited to see you again that I just couldn’t hold it in and I just ran”
Kagome smiled at him “I’m happy you did” they were silent again as they went through the check out and started walking back to the shrine. As they got closer she came with an idea “Shippo?”
“Yes?”
“Do you want to stay for supper?” she asked “my mom always makes extra”
Shippo grinned “I’d love to Kagome”
“Great!” she said enthusiastically then she remembered what the kitsune had said earlier “wait, does Sesshoumaru know where you are? He might get mad if you don’t go home soon”
He chuckled “don’t worry Kagome, he won’t get mad”
“Are you sure?” she asked concerned “I don’t want you to get in trouble”
“Kagome, you are the one who left me in his care, remember?” he reminded her, at her nod, but still concerned look, he replied “don’t worry, Sesshoumaru has kind of taken on the father figure in my life. He really has changed over the past 500 years, but if you’re that concerned…” he said pausing when he saw the concern for him wasn’t going to go away by merely talking about it, he pulled out his cell phone and made a call “hey I’m with Kagome….I know, but I couldn’t wait…I know…no sir…Kagome has invited me for supper…if it isn’t too much trouble…alright then, see you later” and he hung up “there, now he knows” he glanced at her “happy now?”
Kagome sighed and shook her head as they walked up the shrine steps “this is going to take awhile to get used to”
He laughed “don’t worry you will, I’m sure you’re not used to seeing me or Sesshoumaru driving or using cell phones”
She gave a short laugh “I’m not used to seeing you guys in my time period”
“Are you glad we’re here?” he asked as they reached her front door.
She nodded “as strange as it is seeing you and Sesshoumaru here I’m also happy you are. I like the fact that I can talk about my trips to the past with someone who was actually there and that I won’t always have to keep it a secret from everyone”
Shippo quickly scooped her up in a hug “I’ll always be here, Kagome” he then backed up and opened the door for her, taking her shopping bags as well, before following her in.
“Oh good you’re back now it’s almost time to put in those ingredients I sent you to get” said Aksumi as she came to the front door. She was immediately startled when she saw a young man standing next to her daughter.
Knowing what her mother was about to ask, Kagome spoke “mom, this is Shippo and I hope you don’t mind, but I invited him for supper”
Aksumi stared for a moment before a large grin spread over her face “of course I don’t mind, there’s always enough” taking the shopping bags from them, she turned her attention to the young man “so you are Shippo, the one who traveled with my daughter?”
He gave a shy nod “yes ma’am”
“Well you’ll have to tell me all about it” she smiled “you two go in the living room and watch tv; I’ll tell you when supper is ready”
Kagome gave a nod “okay” realizing no annoying brother was bothering her she took a quick glance around the house. Come to think of it she hadn’t seen him after school when she came home either “mama, where is Souta?”
“He went over to a friend’s today after school he just called and told me he’s staying for supper there too” she answered while starting to make her way to the kitchen.
Kagome started to lead Shippo towards the living room when she realized something else was out of the ordinary, turning back, she asked “mama, where is jii-chan?”
Aksumi giggled “apparently jii-chan had a date tonight, so it’s just the three of us”
Kagome raised an eyebrow at that before shrugging and deciding she didn’t want to know before leading Shippo into the living room. Together they sat on the couch and watched tv for awhile until they were called to eat. As they sat around they table they had light conversation and Aksumi asked her questions to Shippo about his time with her daughter. He answered everything and even joked once in awhile. Before they knew realized it, it was dark out. Kagome frowned “how are you going to get home?”
Shippo was just about to answer when his cell phone went off and was quick to answer it “hello…yup just finished and will be out in a minute” and hung up, he then looked at her and chuckled “perfect timing as always, my ride is here right now”
Kagome stood up and walked with him to the front door. As she watched him put his shoes on she couldn’t get over that this was really happening. This wasn’t a dream; Shippo and Sesshoumaru were really there. But then again maybe it was, maybe when she woke up none of this would have happened. She frowned a little at the thought.
Tying his shoes, he couldn’t stop from smiling. He had to wait 500years, but it was well worth the wait. Kagome was back in his life and would be in his life from now on. Life was going good for him. Finally taking himself from his happy thoughts he stood up, turning and faced the girl. His smile dropped a little as he took in her bent head and bangs shielding her eyes. He could understand what she was going through, she probably felt the same thing he was feeling and that was like this whole day was a dream. He took a step towards her and called her name gently. Seeing her jump a little he knew she had been deep in thought so he walked right up to her and took her in his arms again and held her gently. Seeing her unchanged brought back many memories for him and the motherly care and protection she had provided him after he became orphaned. He gave a soft sigh, true she had not changed in age, but he could tell that her spirit was not what it was. He could take a very positive guess from how well he’d known her then that after returning from the feudal era she most likely was crushed when she learned she couldn’t go back. She had spend quite a bit of time there and being with everyone only to come back to her time where she was quite positive everyone was dead by now. He frowned and held her tighter, happy that every time he hugged her, she accepted it. He could guess it was because she needed it and he was more than happy to comply if it meant he got to be close to her. Finally he backed up, keeping a hand on her shoulder “come walk me out”
Kagome nodded and followed him out. Together they walked in silence through the shrine and down its steps to the hummer that was parked in front of it. The kitsune opened the passenger side and grinned at the taiyoukai “thanks for coming to get me”
“Perhaps next time instead of running out of the house and jumping across roof tops like some impatient child, you’ll take your car” Sesshoumaru replied stoically.
“You drive?” Kagome blinked at Shippo.
The kitsune chuckled “I have been around for 500 years, Kagome, I had to learn some time” at her embarrassed blush, he quickly walked over and gave her another hug. As he pulled away he bent down to whisper in her ear “and this is not a dream Kagome, this is really real” at her gasp he fully pulled away to see her wide eyes “I’ve always been able to understand you” he explained “plus what your feeling is what I’m feeling as well” he winked and started to get in the hummer “I’ll see you later, Kagome”.
Kagome continued to watch them and she smiled as Sesshoumaru gave a nod of his head and a smile before telling her he’d see her at school tomorrow plus a reminder about her not being late again. She gave a embarrassed laugh and nodded. She stood there a moment after they had pulled away and vanished from sight. Smiling to herself again she walked up the steps and into the house. She couldn’t wait for tomorrow and being able to see them again.
