Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha nor do I make any money off writting this story. It's purely for my enjoyment and I'm sharing it with all of you |
Author’s Note: Oops! Seems I confused a few people by putting the story as complete. So I’m gonna clarify everything. When I put complete I mean I have the entire story written. There are 14 chapters in total. I will put them up once a week or two. Sorry for the confusion. I know I’ve been out for over a year now, I’m gonna try not to have that happen again. I am already working on the next story.
Chapter two
~Dream~
When the miko opened her eyes she saw the taiyoukai above her and in her as if he’d always been there. She gasped when she felt him give a quick thrust into her and heard him chuckle “I told you we were far from done”
“Huh?” she asked completely confused before she remembered what they had been doing before “oh god!”
He chuckled harder “if that is how you see me” he said as he began pounding into her folds with wild abandonment. Hearing her scream out he snarled and buried his head into her neck to attempt to pound harder into her. He continuously rammed himself into her tightness before flipping her over to her hands and knees, while remaining in her, and resumed his frantic pace. After what seemed like hours he finally released himself into her.
He got her to lie down next to him and she shut her eyes to rest. The next thing she knew she was on top of him and he was grinding his hips up into her causing her to cry out at how deep he felt. In and out he pushed into her until eventually the pleasure became too much and he rolled her over so he was on top of her.
Kagome’s breathing became shallow as she found it harder to catch her breath. At first she thought it was because of the pleasure, but as time went on she soon realized it was because she really couldn’t breathe “I…I” she gasped and tried to speak again “I...I…ca-can…t”
The taiyoukai grunted as he released into her everything he had to deposit. Growling softly as he felt his knot shrink before looking at her and noticing her panicked expression “Kagome?”
“C-can..t” she gasped as she clutched his arm, her fear growing.
Immediately he pulled out of her and touched her throat. His eyes narrowed and he began checking her over, his final stop was her head where he found a large bump “that fool, what has he done?” he growled in anger before concentrating on her “calm down”
“I…I” she started.
“Don’t speak,” he ordered “relax, focus on me” he took her hand that wasn’t clutching his shoulder and placed in on his chest where his heart was “try to breathe in time with the rise and fall of my chest”
Kagome felt his heart beat in a steady and calm rhythm. She could feel herself grow calm and attempted to take a breath when she felt his chest rise. Relaxing slightly when she felt herself able to get a breath a little easier, but still it was hard to get air through her lungs.
“Kagome, listen to me” he spoke with authority “you need to wake up”
“Wak…wak” she tried to get out.
He gave a nod “wake up” he watched her frown and he growled viciously at her “you need to wake up and now!”
Kagome gasp at the anger she saw in his eyes.
~End Dream~
“She’s breathing doctor!” a woman shouted
“Her pulse is returning to normal and she’s beginning to stabilize” another said.
It was then a male voice spoke “good, hurry and prepare her for emergency surgery”
Kagome opened her eyes, her vision blurry as she tried to look around. Everything was white and she could make out some white movement right before her world went black.
Kagome took a deep breath and opened her eyes slowly to allow her eyes a chance to adjust to the light “w-what is” she coughed, her mouth feeling so dry “w-wha”
“Oh thank goodness you’re alright,” said a worried female voice.
The young girl turned her head and frowned at the figure that was standing next to her, speaking hoarsely “mom?”
“Sis, are you alright?”
Turning her eyesight downward more she saw her brother “Sou-ta?”
It was then Kagome realized there was something in her arm and also her nose. Her frown grew and her eyes narrowed to so she was greatly confused, but with her mouth so dry she couldn’t really speak to ask everything she wanted to ask.
Noticing the confusion on her face, her mother had her son go get a doctor “Kagome dear, you’re in the hospital, Inuyasha brought you home”
When the girl was about to start sitting up to see if she could see him, he spoke “I’m right here Kagome”
She turned her head and looked at him and noticed he looked pale “Inu…ya..sha”
He gave her a small smile “yeah, I’m so glad you’re awake”
She smiled at him “thir…sty”
Her mother was quick to get her a glass of water and had a straw to help her sip “we were so very worried about you”
“I see the patient is awake,” said an unfamiliar male voice.
Kagome turned her head away from her mother and the water to look at the man that had entered. He seemed tall, but she had a feeling that was because she was stuck lying in a bed. The man had short black hair and seemed too young to be a doctor, but his coat that he wore said that he was one.
“Kagome this is Dr. Kasha” Mrs. Higurashi explained.
Dr. Kasha smiled at the young girl before taking out a flash light and checking her pupil reaction “you’ve had quite the accident and your lucky your boyfriend brought you in when he did”
“We’re just friends” Inuyasha clarified.
“Well you’re a boy and a friend, so boyfriend” he chuckled before looking back at his patient “okay Kagome I know this is going to sound really stupid, but I need you to move your fingers for me, can you do that?”
Feeling that it was a strange request, Kagome looked at her fingers and curled them into a fist.
“Excellent!” Dr. Kasha said with a bright smile and then moved to the end of the bed and lifted the sheets to expose her feet “okay now I need you to move your toes”
Kagome glanced at him before looking at her feet and wiggled her toes.
“That is perfect” he said “looks like you’ve suffered no permanent neurological injuries, but just to make sure we want to keep you here one more night before letting you go”
“Thank you doctor” Kagome’s mother said before walking with the doctor out of the room.
Inuyasha turned to stare at the girl “you had me really scared Kagome”
Kagome gave him a small smile. She knew he must have been really scared if he was willing to admit how scared he was and spoke quietly “I’m sorry”
“Just don’t do it again,” he said as he took her hand in his “please don’t do it again”
“I’m so sorry Inuyasha,” she said as she took her free and placed it over his hand while taking the one he had and moving it to gently stroke his hair “I never meant to scare you”
He moved his head more into her hand “just don’t do it again”
She frowned, suddenly confused why he seemed so upset “Inuyasha, all I did was hit my head, I’m fine. I don’t know why you brought me to my time”
“The others felt it would be best I bring to the doctors in your time” he replied “you were completely out; you didn’t even wake on the trip when I ran from the village all the way to the well. You didn’t even move”
“I’m sorry that scared you Inuyasha,” she said.
“No that worried me” he corrected her “what scared me is shortly after appearing on your side of the well…you…you” he grew silent and he nuzzled more into her hand as he tried to get comfort from her touch “Kagome” he said quietly “you sto-stopped…breathing”
She looked at him “I what?”
Mrs. Higurashi returned, over hearing what was said, she walked up to her daughter’s bedside and rested her hand on her shoulder “what Inuyasha says is true. You stopped breathing just when the ambulance arrived. They tried to resuscitate you and had to do emergency surgery when they got here. They said your brain had been bleeding, but they were able to stop it in time”
“They said you were technically dead for less than a minute” Souta said from his place at the end of the bed.
She frowned “I was?” she questioned, as she looked at the upset hanyou and she stroked his hair a little more “oh Inuyasha, you must have been so worried”
“Just don’t do it again,” he said, quietly.
Using her hand she made him look at her and gave him a bright smile “I won’t I promise”
He returned her smile with a small one of his own “I expect you to keep your word”
“I know,” she said.
“All right everyone we should go and let Kagome rest,” stated Mrs. Higurashi.
“I’m staying here,” Inuyasha declared.
Kagome reached out and grabbed his hand “but I’m sure the others will want to know what’s happening here”
He shot her a firm glare “I’m not leaving you”
Seeing the determination in his eyes, she knew that she wouldn’t be able to change his mind and she turned her eyes to her mother “it’s alright mom, let him stay here”
“Alright” her mother agreed, she’d also seen that he was unwavering in his choice “come on Souta, we need to get home and let jii-chan know everything is fine”
Kagome watched her mother and brother leave before turning to look at the hanyou “I really am sorry I worried you”
He gave her a serious look “I didn’t like what I saw. You were just so pale when we arrived here and when you stopped breathing I was wasn’t just scared I was terrified that you might die”
“But I’m okay now” she comforted “and it’s thanks to you I am”
“When you come back I want you to stay at Kaede’s awhile” he stated, “I don’t want you to be in danger again”
“I’ll be fine,” she said “but how long was I out for?”
“Just a day” he answered, seeing how tired she looked, he pulled up a chair “rest, you need to get some sleep”
Kagome went back to sleep and in no time she was released from the hospital the next day. The doctor told her that she wasn’t to do anything active till her next checkup and Inuyasha spent the next two weeks making sure she didn’t do anything that could ruin what the doctors had done to fix her. After her two-week home rest and the doctor saying she could return to her usual activities, but that she had to take it slow and easy, she was headed back to the feudal era.
Once on the other side Inuyasha insisted he carry her to the hut, but that became difficult the moment they entered the village. The entire village had heard of the young miko and her injuries, all had been concerned about her. The minute the village people saw the girl they were crowding around her as the hanyou tried to make it to the hut, trying to see for them selves if she was really alright.
It didn’t take long for the hanyou to lose his temper and finally began yelling at the villagers to back off and get away from them. Luckily their companions in Kaede’s hut heard and came out to help them calm the villagers and get the girl of the future inside the hut.
There, inside the hut, the small group was eager to learn of the girl’s health while the girl learned Kaede was out helping a few of the villagers at the edge of the village. Shippo, being so close to her, sat close to her. He had tried to climb into her lap, but the hanyou had quickly made it clear no one was getting that close to her with a deep growl. The kitsune frowned “Kagome, are you alright?”
“I’m fine Shippo,” she answered.
“Then why won’t Inuyasha let me sit in your lap?” he asked while glaring at the hanyou.
She gave a small laugh and held out her arms as an invitation and the kitsune wasted no time in hoping into her lap “you’ll have to forgive Inuyasha, he’s just been really worried about me”
“But I thought you said you were fine” Shippo said, confused.
“I am, but I’ve been told I have to take it easy for awhile” she said.
Sango gave her a relieved smile “I’m glad to see you’re alright, Kagome, you had us all worried”
“Yes we were very concerned,” agreed Miroku “when you left here you weren’t looking very well”
“Well I’m fine now,” she said before she covered her mouth to yawn.
Inuyasha narrowed his eyes at her “you need to rest”
Kagome sighed “but I want to visit with everyone, I just got here”
“You were told to take it easy” he reminded her as he went to her knapsack and pulled out her sleeping bag
“Yeah I know” she consented “but there’s no harm in talking with everyone”
He growled at her “you need to rest…now”
Being able to tell she wasn’t going to win the argument and knowing how worried he has been, she gave a defeated nod, putting Shippo down, she moved to get into the sleeping bag “okay I’ll rest”
Everyone watched as the girl lay down and within minutes she was asleep. They were silent until they were sure the girl wouldn’t wake up and it was Miroku who asked what everyone wanted to ask, “I assume we were right that her injuries were more severe than they looked?”
Inuyasha gave a nod “they said her brain was bleeding and they had to do emergency surgery on it”
Sango gasped, “that sounds terrible!”
The monk noticed how quiet and reluctant he was to speak “Inuyasha, it was more serious wasn’t it?”
Inuyasha felt his ears droop as he spoke solemnly “she stopped breathing and her heart stopped beating. They said she was technically dead for less than a minute or at least that’s what we’ve told Kagome…she was actually dead for nearly 20 minutes”
“Oh no” Sango breathed as her hands came up to cover her mouth “how did they get her back?”
“Yes Inuyasha, I’m curious as well” said Miroku “here, a person once they are dead, are dead and there is no coming back unless by youkai ability, but from hearing stories from Kagome there are no demons in her time, just humans”
“That’s right” he confirmed “there are only humans in Kagome’s time, youkai are only myth there”
“So how were humans able to bring her back from death?” asked Shippo as he quietly slid next to the sleeping girl.
“The medicine there is advanced” he answered, “I saw as they used a tool that replicates lighting which they use in small doses to shock a person that isn’t breathing”
Sango had started to cry when she heard this “they shocked Kagome?”
He nodded “yeah they had to do it a lot and they were ready to call it quits, but she started breathing at the last second”
The group became silent as the each contemplated how they had almost lost their dear friend. Slowly they turned to look at her and watch her as she slept.
~Dream~
Kagome sighed as she sat on a rock and stared into the crystal clear water. Hearing a noise behind her she turned to she the taiyoukai walking up to her. She wondered when she got used to seeing him in her dreams or even more interesting, when she came to expect him there “I see I’m dreaming again”
“Indeed you are,” he agreed before opening his arms slightly.
She smiled, knowing what he wanted; she got up and ran to him. She quickly wrapped her arms around his waist and became relaxed when she felt his arms hold her tightly to him “I must admit, I was restless wondering what had happened to you”
Kagome hugged him tighter “you remember that?”
“It’s been on my mind since you couldn’t breathe” he replied.
“I have to admit I was pretty frightened” she confessed, “Inuyasha said I stopped breathing and that I technically died”
Sesshoumaru sat down, pulling her down with him and into his lap “how was it you are alive now?”
“The people in my time were able to save me,” she answered.
He gave a nod “using your advanced medicine?”
“Yeah and advanced medical tools” she said, “it saved my life”
“Perhaps you could explain to me how your life was in danger to begin with,” he suggested, but it sounded more like a demand.
She was silent a moment as she thought about it “it all happened so fast, none of us were prepared for it”
“For what?” he asked.
“We went to a village that was having some youkai trouble” she started “not long after arriving a snake youkai suddenly attack, none of us were ready for it. I was grabbed by it before even I realized it and when the others were going to help me another snake youkai appeared…I don’t quite remember what happened after that, but I think the one youkai got destroyed and the one that had me, threw me and I guess I hit my head harder than I thought”
He growled “and my brother did not save you?”
“It happened so fast no one had a chance to even react” she said, trying to defend her friends “I didn’t even know I was thrown before I blacked out and the others were just as surprised by how quick everything was. No one had time to react to anything”
“I see,” he said while he began nuzzling her neck “I am glad to know you’re safe now, you were gone a long time and I had no way of knowing if you were alright”
She relaxed against him and enjoyed the pleasurable feelings he was giving her “I have to admit I missed you”
“And I you” he said as he felt one of her breasts while giving a hard suck on her neck that caused her to moan “show me how much you’ve missed me”
She pulled her neck away from his mouth and turned to face him. In his eyes she saw the lust and desire that clearly said he wanted her. She smiled “how much have you missed me?”
His eyes brightened and he grabbed her hand and placed it on his growing erection “does that tell you?”
“I think I need to see it,” she said with a devious smirk.
He growled softly “I will do more than allow you to see it”
Within the blink of an eye, both were naked and he was on top of her. He growled softly as he rubbed up against her and let her feel his hardness against her. The taiyoukai then took one of her legs and lifted it up to give himself better access before quickly ramming into her and not stopping. He was hard, moving like a mad man depraved, and she could only hold on for the ride. His cock swelled to the point he was stuck in her, but he did not slow his pace as he used near demonic strength to fuck her as fast and as hard as he could. He snarled as he quickly reached his end and made sure he delivered every last drop of his seed he had in her before relaxing against her.
Kagome panted as she tried to catch her breath. She felt he had seemed more…passionate this time then the other time they had been together. She felt herself curious as a question passed through her head. Why did all of her dreams with Sesshoumaru seem connected, but not? They seemed almost real, but at the same time they didn’t. She could think thoughts, but not always think everything through. She gave a mental shake of her head and she looked at him while touching the side of his face. She could feel his touch, could feel every thing, even him inside her. Why…no, how was that? How could a dream feel realistic every time?
“What is the matter?” his voice broke through her thoughts.
She shook her head “it’s these dreams I’m having…I’m just confused”
He kissed her forehead “what confuses you?”
“Everything” she answered “like why am I dreaming of you? Why am I dreaming having sex with you? And why am I dreaming having conversations with you?”
“That is something only you can answer,” he then pulled out of her and looked at her “why do you dream of me?”
She shrugged her shoulders “I don’t know why. I find it strange…it just feels…weird”
“Does it?” he asked while gently touching her face “such a shame we didn’t have more time, but it is time to wake up now”
~End Dream~
Kagome yawned as she woke up and looked to see everyone looking at her “how long was I out?”
“Few hours” answered Sango.
“Oh I guess I was more tired than I thought” she said as she sat up.
Inuyasha looked over at her “take it easy today”
“I will” she insisted, a little angry she was being treated like a child.
Over the next few weeks Kagome began feeling more like a child and less like the friend who fought youkai with them. Inuyasha had continued telling her what to do and when she looked tired and should rest. Together with Miroku the two men went out to fight any youkai that were causing problems. Sango sometimes joined them, but more often than not she stayed in the village to make sure Kagome took care of herself. Kirara and Shippo sometimes joined the men when they went to fight, but the kitsune often wanted to stay with the young miko.
It was dreams that were Kagome’s salvation. She saw Sesshoumaru every time she slept and he continued to ravish her body. Every time she dreamt of him she would tell him how her dreams felt real. Some times he wouldn’t answer, but the times he would it would be simply to say it was time for her to wake up. Eventually she stopped thinking about how real her dreams felt and started to enjoy them more than what she had been. She had even had conversations with him about how she had been feeling with how her friends treated her and being left behind while they went fighting youkai. He had merely smirked and had said it made him happy because it meant she slept and dreamt of him more. Though she had been upset with her friends she had to admit that the taiyoukai had cheered her up and she did enjoy her time with him.
The doctors had said she was good enough to go back to her old activities, but the group didn’t want to risk it and often made her stay at Kaede’s. She was allowed to go with them on a few adventures, the ones they knew would be safe, but she mostly had to stay with Kaede. Her only company while she was there was Kaede and Shippo, which found her bored a lot of the times and caused her to sleep more to where she was almost sleeping for a whole day and all night. While the others were concerned about her over sleeping they found there wasn’t much they could do, it had even become harder to wake her up. Kagome herself had brushed off her over sleeping and told her friends not to worry. Deep down though she had enjoyed her dreams and she had no problems with how often she was sleeping.
Four months later the pattern of their lives soon changed. When the group returned to the village one day they returned to finding Kagome throwing up in the bushes near the old miko’s hut. Sango had gone to the girl’s side while the others agreed to wait inside.
“Are you okay Kagome?” asked Sango.
Hurling one more time the girl nodded “yea I think so”
“How long as this been happening?” the taijiya asked while rubbing the girl’s back.
Kagome shrugged “few days ago, shortly after you guys left for that village”
“We’ve been gone for 8 days” she stated “you mean to say you’ve been sick ever since then?”
“Well it started about three days after you guys left” the future miko replied before giving into the urge to throw up again.
Sango frowned “how often have you been getting sick like this?”
She was silent a moment has she thought about it “mornings usually, but there’s been a case in the afternoon and a few at night”
The woman’s frown turned to a look of curiosity and concern “Kagome, are you pregnant?”
Kagome’s eyes widened “no way! I’ve never been with anyone!”
Sango smiled “I’m sorry it’s just that’s normally the number one reason why you find a woman our age sick in the bushes”
“I understand, but I’d need to be with a guy and I haven’t even kissed a guy before,” said the miko as she took a deep breath, while having a flashback to all the times she had been with Sesshoumaru in her dreams. Sighing, she looked at the girl “I think that’s the last of it”
“Ready to see the others, I think Inuyasha was pretty worried when he saw you like that in the bushes” giggled Sango.
“He’s always worried about me” Kagome smiled “but I’m ready”
Together they both entered the hut where they received concerned stares, but it was Miroku who spoke “is everything alright?”
“Everything is fine” the taijiya answered as both woman sat down “just an upset stomach”
Inuyasha glanced at the future miko “are you sure?”
She nodded “I’m fine, my stomach has just been a little sensitive lately”
Miroku turned to look at the old miko that was preparing supper “do you have anything that could help her keep her stomach settled?”
Kaede looked at them “herbs have already been tried and they have not worked”
The monk looked back at the girl with a serious expression “Kagome are you pregnant?”
She glared at him “no I’m not”
“Are you sure?” he asked, seriously “it is important to know if there might be a chance”
She shook her head and with a huff looked away from them “I am not pregnant. I have never been with a man in my life”
Shippo turned his head curiously up at her “why would being pregnant make you sick?”
“It’s just one of the things that happens when a woman is pregnant” she replied before glaring at the others “but it’s okay because I’m not”
Inuyasha had stared at her apprehensively, but once Kaede announced that supper was ready, the whole situation was forgotten. During and after dinner the group talked about their trip and learned what Kagome had been up to. They talked late into the night about the youkai they’ve seen which soon had them talking about old times from how they met to the destruction of the vile hanyou, Naraku.
At some point Kagome fell asleep on them.
~Dream~
Kagome smiled when the taiyoukai walked out from the trees and into the clearing she was in, which had hundreds of flowers and more butterflies than she’d ever seen in a single place.
“How do you feel?” he asked.
“I’m still losing my meals,” she grumbled.
He gave a nod “have your companions returned?”
“Yeah they just got back today” she answered, “we all had a nice talk”
“Did you?” he questioned with a raised eyebrow before pulling her against him “tell me”
“Not really much to tell” she replied as she relaxed against him, her head resting on his well muscled chest “we just talked about all the adventures we had while hunting Naraku and how we all met each other”
He placed a finger under her chin and gave her a quick kiss on the lips “you are not as talkative, is something bothering you?”
She sighed and gave a slight nod “yea I guess there is something”
“You’re friends are the cause of your anxiety” he spoke confidently.
“It’s not really a anxiety, but just how I feel” she corrected “Inuyasha is still being selective about when, where, and what I can fight”
“He is concerned for your safety,” he stated as he had them sit on the grass with her in his lap.
“I know he is, but there is a limit to how much a person can take” she said, maneuvering herself till she was comfortably against his chest “but he is not my only problem it’s the others as well”
“Explain,” he said as he held her tighter.
She was silent a moment as she thought about what she wanted to say. Taking a deep breath she explained how she felt “I’m tired of being left behind. I don’t even feel like I’m part of the group anymore. They have all these stories of their adventures and what do I have to add to it?” she asked, not giving him a chance to try to answer “I get to talk about my stay at Kaede’s and how I did absolutely nothing cause nothing of interests happens in that village” she felt her eyes watering “I’m just sick of it, what’s the point of me coming to this time if I’m only going to be left behind? I might as well go home where I actually have things to do”
“And when would you come back?” he asked as he had her face him and he used his thumb to wipe away her tears before they fell.
“I don’t think I will” she answered quietly “the only reason I stayed after Naraku’s defeat and the completion of the jewel was because I felt like I belonged, but now I feel out of place” she leaned forward till her head was resting on his chest “I feel like I’ve over stayed my welcome and should return home”
“Your friends will notice your absence and will miss you,” he stated.
“I’m sure they will” she agreed “but I’m also sure they’ll move on with their life just as I will move on with mine once I’m in my time”
He growled, “you cannot leave”
“I can’t stay in this time anymore” she said, “I don’t feel like I belong here anymore”
“You must stay” he insisted, making her lay on the ground “I want you”
“Yeah, but you’re a dream” she said looking up at him as he hovered above him “but I do seem to only dream of you when I’m here”
His head came down to nuzzle her neck and rubbed her suddenly exposed breast “then do not leave, do not stop dreaming of me”
She smiled not a full smile “I can’t stay here, I don’t belong in this time”
“You do belong” he replied as he lowered his head to suckle on the breast that wasn’t being massaged “you belong with me”
“If only this weren’t a dream” she gave a small laugh as she touched his face “but it is and I can’t be with you in the real world” she sighed while getting him to look at her and moving his face above hers “only in my dreams can I be yours”
His mouth crashed to hers in a heated kiss that she returned eagerly. He wasted no time in driving his hard and ready cock deep into her. He removed his mouth from her lips so he could hear her cry out in pleasure while continuing a strong and steady pace as he pounded into her wet pussy. Groaning at the heat he felt of being inside of her and feeling himself swell within her passage, his head lowered to her neck and he nipped her till a red spot appeared on her skin. Picking up his tempo his pace became rougher and stayed strong as he thrust into her.
“Sess-Sessh” she tried saying his name, but whenever she attempted he’d give a harder thrust, which caused her breath to hitch and be unable to say his name.
He growled deeply against her throat “cum for me”
Just as if his very words had power over her she did as he said and came for him. A few thrusts later and he joined her, spilling all his demonic seed into her womb with a snarl before resting himself lightly on her. He then placed his head against her ear and whispered, “I will always be with you I have made sure of that and you will always be mine” he placed a long kiss on her lips “now wake up”
~End Dream~
Kagome woke up and slowly got up from the sleeping bag she was in. Suddenly she felt a familiar urge and ran out of the hut, accidentally stepping on Miroku on her way out. She kept running until she found what she had christened her sick bush and let loose to lose the previous night’s supper.
“Kagome are you okay?” asked the voice of the male she’d stepped on.
She nodded with a cough “fine” she answered before losing more of her supper.
“I am concerned about this Kagome,” Miroku said.
Taking a few deep breaths, hoping to calm her stomach, she glanced at him “I’m fine, my stomach is just a little sensitive lately” she groaned as the queasy feeling returned and she threw up even more. In her head she was wishing she would stop being sick. She had had enough of meeting the sick bush.
The houshi sighed and rubbed her back “are you sure there couldn’t be something else wrong with you?”
“I’m sure,” she said, shooting him a glare at what he was insinuating, “and I’m not pregnant so stop thinking that”
“Forgive me” he apologized “it is the only thing I can think of”
She coughed a bit before taking a few deep breaths. Giving a deep sigh at finally feeling better she turned to face him “I understand and I would think the same thing if I had been with a guy, but I haven’t so I couldn’t be”
“You have not been with Inuyasha?” he questioned with a raised eyebrow “I thought for sure you two would have been together by now"
Kagome blushed a little “no I haven’t been with Inuyasha” she sighed “though he doesn’t say it I know he is still in love with Kikyo. Our relationship will never progress past friends unless he can get past Kikyo and move on, but even I know that he’ll never will. He will always think of her and it’s been so long that I don’t think I could see him as any more than a friend now” at the back of her head she could hear a small voice calling her a liar. Yes, she would always love Inuyasha no matter how much she denied it, but she knew she shouldn’t keep waiting for him to return her feelings.
“I see” he said “come let us go back into the hut” he rubbed her back and led her towards the hut, his tone taking on a bit of amusement “I know the others awoke when they heard me groan after you stepped on me”
She smiled at him “sorry about that”
“Do not concern your self” he replied, “I am stronger than I look”
Together they entered the hut where everyone was waiting. Sango quickly looked at her “are you alright?”
“I’m fine” Kagome replied with a smile “just my stomach flu”
“I hope it goes away soon” Shippo commented from the sleeping bag.
She gave a soft laugh “you and me both”
The group, worried about their friend, begged her to go home and see a doctor. Their hope was that they would have something in her time that would help her keep her meals down or could at least explain why she was getting sick off and on. It took awhile, but they eventually convinced her to get checked out and Inuyasha went with her to her time, her mother drove them to the doctors where tests were done.
A few days later when the test results came back negative on every possibility for her stomach flu, her and the hanyou returned back to the feudal era. Kagome made sure she brought herself things to do while her friends left and some medical supplies to help with their injuries when they got them. Deep down she knew it would be awhile before they would allow her to join them, especially while she had the stomach flu.
Sure enough a week after returning to the feudal era, Inuyasha and the others left to exterminate a pack of boar youkai that were causing destruction of crops. Kagome had wanted to join them, but the group wanted her to stay behind until her stomach flu was finished.
Shippo had stayed behind as usual, but he had made some friends with some of the children in the village and through the day he was out playing with them, leaving the girl from the future alone.
Yes there was Kaede, but the elderly miko had other things to do beside entertain a bored young miko that was stuck to stay in the village. The old woman was often out and helping those in the village with whoever was sick or helping deliver a baby. But the girl of the future did help Kaede gather herbs and prepare meals, but she had admitted her boredom about the whole thing.
In her dreams with her taiyoukai she continued to tell the western lord of her troubles and how her friends often left her behind and she no longer felt close to them as she had.
That she was starting to feel more set in her decision to go back to her home and stay there, never to return. He would growl before taking her body to amazing heights. When he was finished he would tell her to hang on a little longer and that she always had him to turn to. Afterwards, when she awoke, she would cry a little and bury herself deeper in her sleeping bag.
Her friends returned a few days after leaving and finding the girl not quite as sick as before, but noticing she seemed quieter around them. It wasn’t until at night that Sango had Kagome join her in a hot spring that was near the village.
“Are you okay Kagome?” asked the taijiya “you seem a little down”
Kagome shrugged as she stared into the water “I’m fine”
Sango shook her head “no, you’re not fine, so tell me what’s wrong?”
She was silent a moment “I’m thinking of going home”
“Oh, for how many days?” the woman asked, but feeling she was about to hear something she didn’t want to hear.
Kagome sighed, “I mean I’m thinking of going home to stay”
Sango’s eyes widened “you mean you’re going to return to your time and not come back?”
“Yes” she nodded “I miss home”
“But you can go back there whenever you want” the taijiya tried to understand “why do you want to leave us” she then saw that the girl was trying to hold back unshed tears “what is wrong?”
“I don’t belong here,” Kagome said as she felt her tears start to escape.
Quickly the youkai exterminator grabbed the upset girl into a hug, giving a sad smile the girl couldn’t see “what makes you think you don’t belong here with us?”
“I’m constantly being left behind” she cried, “I should have left after Naraku was defeated”
Sango frowned and stayed silent a moment. Thinking about it she realized they had been making the young girl stay in the village an awful lot “I’m sorry, we’ve just been so worried about you. First that head injury of yours that nearly killed you and then you being sick recently, it’s not that we don’t want you to come with us, we do, but we just don’t want anything to happen to you”
After what seemed like hours and making sure the girl was calm, both girls got out of the hot spring in silence, dressed, and headed back to Kaede’s hut. When they were in the hut, Kagome said nothing to anyone, the crying had tired her out and she didn’t feel like she could speak to the others that night. She noticed everyone was quiet as she rolled out her sleeping bag, climbed in, and was asleep in minutes.
Everyone stayed quiet, sensing a shift in mood and something wrong with their friend. They had glanced at the exterminator, but one look from her said she would talk about it later. They stayed calm and waited for the apparently upset woman to fall asleep.
Once sure she was asleep, Sango looked at the others “Kagome confided in me she wishes to go home”
“What else is new? She always wants to go home” Inuyasha stated, confused, but also deep down he felt he was about to hear something he didn’t want to hear. He could tell from Sango’s serious look there was more to it than Kagome simply wanted to go home.
“She wants to go home…permanently” she clarified.
Miroku looked at her shocked “you mean she won’t come back?”
Sango nodded “that’s what she said”
Shippo frowned, worried about this turn of events. He couldn’t bare it if Kagome left; he’d felt close to her since his father was killed “why does she want to leave us?” he whined.
Sango smiled sadly and looked at the two grown males and young kitsune “she feels she no longer belongs here and that she’s over stayed her welcome”
“Did she tell you why she feels that way?” Inuyasha asked quietly. He was right; he didn’t like what he was hearing.
“She’s upset because we are always leaving her behind” she answered, “I think she’s starting to feel we don’t want her around”
Miroku sighed as he turned his head to look at the sleeping miko “I suppose if I was always left behind I would begin to feel the same way” he looked at the others “so how do we fix this mess we’ve caused?”
Inuyasha growled “isn’t it obvious? We take her with us and stop leaving her behind”
“But Inuyasha she’s been sick lately!” Shippo reminded, fretful about what they should do.
“Well if we’re too worried about her getting injured by youkai and her seemingly ill health then it would make sense that we should stay with her until she is better” the houshi suggested.
“And should a villager from another village come and ask us to help them out, what do we say to them?” asked Sango.
Inuyasha looked at them “we don’t go, simple as that, get someone else to take care of their village”
“”But we can’t leave people to get killed” Miroku insisted.
“Then I’ll go,” said the hanyou “I can take on these low level youkai easily”
Sango gave a nod “okay, but I say if it doesn’t sound like that dangerous of a fight we all go and that includes Kagome, I think staying in this village day after day is starting to get to her” she admitted “it could be why she’s sick”
Shippo looked at her, confused “why would staying in the village be making Kagome sick?”
“Because she’s used to being active,” the taijiya answered, “and she hasn’t been as active as she was before she began getting tired” she noticed their hard to believe stares “think about it, Kagome hasn’t joined us for awhile and as a result she’s sleeping more and she’s been getting sick recently”
“I have to say that does sound like a logical reason,” the houshi agreed.
The hanyou didn’t say anything, but he did admit to himself that what the woman said made sense to him. Sighing quietly he looked over to the girl in the sleeping bag sleeping quietly. If it were true that she was having these problems and was now sick because she didn’t feel active enough or that she didn’t belong then he would make it his job to take care of her and get her back to top form.
~Dream~
Kagome breathed heavily as she collapsed on top of the taiyoukai “have I mentioned how much I’m enjoying these dreams?”
He chuckled “yes, more than once” he kissed her forehead, enjoying the feel of being in her warm sheath “but it does please me to hear you enjoy these meetings”
Resting her head on his chest she sighed, as she relaxed more against him “I’ve told Sango that I thought about going home to stay”
He growled as he usually did when she brought the subject up “and what did that taijiya have to say about your asinine idea?”
“She said her and the others don’t mean to leave me behind,” she answered, quietly “I can tell she doesn’t want me to leave and I don’t think the others do either, but…I still think it’s for the best I leave”
“Why do you feel that way?” his tone suggesting he did not like her decision.
“Because it’s the truth,” she stated, “I don’t belong here and I feel I’ve over stayed my welcome. I was born in the future and that is where my home is”
“You will leave your friends?” he growled and forced her to look at him “you will leave me?”
She frowned at him “you think I will stop dreaming of you when I leave?”
“I know you will” he answered with a glare “you did not dream of me when you were in the hospital in your time, what makes you think if you go back to stay you will dream of me like you have been?”
She was silent for a moment before she replied quietly “I don’t know”
“It is time for you to wake up” he said.
“NO!” she yelled immediately “I will not wake up!”
He snarled at her and removed himself from her body “and why won’t you?”
She looked away from him to stare at the ground “because you’re mad at me”
He knelt next to her and had his nose nuzzle the side of her cheek. When he spoke his voice was calm, but also soft “look at me” when she stayed as she was he nuzzled her a little harder, keeping any anger and frustration from his tone of voice “Kagome, look at me”
After a moment she looked up at him and sadly asked “what?”
“I am not mad at you,” he said firmly.
“You are to” she sniffled.
“Nonsense” he insisted, kissing her forehead before giving her a soft kiss “I can never be mad at you”
She looked at him; unsure “you’re not just saying that are you?”
He raised an eyebrow “have I ever been known to lie?”
She shook her head with a small smile forming on her lips “no, you haven’t”
“Good, now wake up” he said.
~End Dream~
Waking up, Kagome frowned. That was the first time Sesshoumaru had ever gotten so mad at her in her dreams. She knew he said he wasn’t angry, but she knew he was. Sure she’d seen him displeased before, but he’d never been so irate.
“Kagome you’re awake!” said Shippo as he walked up to her.
“Morning Shippo” she greeted.
“Did you sleep okay?” he asked.
She smiled at him “I slept just fine” it was then she noticed the hut was empty “where is everyone?”
“They’re outside helping some of the villagers” he replied “they were waiting for you to wake up, but the villagers I guess needed some help then so they left me here to wait for you to get up”
“Oh why didn’t you just wake me up?” she asked as she stood up and went to her pack for some clean clothes.
“Sango tried, but you were a little hard to wake up” he answered as he turned around so she could dress “the others figured you must have needed the sleep so they left you alone”
Kagome sighed as she changed into a pair of jeans and shirt “well that was nice of them to let me get some sleep, I didn’t know I was that tired”
The kitsune didn’t respond or voice his worry for her and waited for the girl to finish. When she was done they both left the hut to find the others. Miroku and Inuyasha were helping some of the villagers repair roofs that were falling apart while Sango was helping a few of the village women wash clothes.
Seeing the girl the taijiya smiled “Kagome, you’re awake. How did you sleep?”
“I slept fine, I heard you tried to wake me,” she commented as she felt Shippo jump on to her shoulder.
“I did” Sango gave a small laugh “you were pretty out of it”
“Kagome you’re awake!” Inuyasha called from above them on the roof he was on.
Kagome smiled as she looked up at him “morning Inuyasha, you’re helping do work? And you’re not complaining?”
He smirked “shut up wench”
“Nice to see you awake” said Miroku as he walked past her, holding wood in his arms “I trust you had a pleasant sleep?”
As good as one can get” she replied with a bright smile before she looked at the women washing clothes “can I help with anything?”
Sango smiled and nodded “come over here and you and I can start hanging up these clothes”
Kagome nodded and joined the taijiya along with the other women. It seemed all the villagers were in a cleaning mood and everyone spent the morning cleaning whatever had to be cleaned and helping out with gathering vegetables that had ripened and were ready to be gathered.
It was a month later and the group was doing well. Kagome was still a little sick, but the group did not leave her. On the days she was feeling well she joined them in easy battles and on the days she felt ill the group stayed with her in the village.
During one afternoon the group had decided to relax just outside the village in an open field where they were having a late lunch. Together they talked, laughed, and joked together. They acted just like old times and never mentioned about knowing that their friend wished to return home and happy she had not mentioned it since. When the time came just as the group was deciding to return to the village, a thunderous noise rang out into the air.
Inuyasha’s ears listened intently, trying to decipher where the blast came from. After another second he finally pointed in a direction “it’s coming from over there”
Kagome followed his sight and paled “that’s where the well is”
“Let’s not waste time, let’s go,” the hanyou shouted as she crouched down “Kagome get on”
She nodded and got onto his back. Clinging tightly to him as he immediately sped off through the field and into the forest named after him. Hearing a noise she turned her head to see Miroku and Sango with Shippo riding on Kirara. Returning her a head of her, she felt herself growing apprehensive the closer they got to the well. Deep down in her gut she knew something big had happened that was going to affect her “I hope everything it alright”
Inuyasha growled quietly; he didn’t want to worry Kagome so he didn’t answer her, but the closer they got to the well the better he could smell smoke and burning wood. Getting impatient he picked up his pace to get to the well quicker. Behind him, he could hear the others picking up there pace as well and together they all entered the small clearing where the well was. There they were met with a most shocking vision that left them stunned in their tracks.
Before their very eyes they saw the bone eaters well absolutely destroyed. Burning wood pieces of different shapes and sizes were littered all over the place. A burning hole now stood where the well was. No one could move, time stood still, and all could only watch in a state of amazed silence before a scream reverberated into the sky.
Kagome couldn’t believe what she was seeing. This was the worst state she had ever seen the well in. She heard the scream before she even realized it was her making the noise as she started to run towards the well.
Inuyasha snapped from his silent state as he saw the woman starting to run towards the well. Quickly he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her back, close to his chest “don’t get close to it! You’ll burn yourself!”
“NO!” she screamed and started to cry as she struggled to get free from the hanyou that held her “Mama! Souta! Jii-chan!”
“Kagome stop this!” he growled as his grip tightened “get a hold of yourself!”
Sango felt her own tears threatening to spill “why would someone want to destroy the well?”
“That is a hard question to answer” Miroku said as he looked over at the distraught girl as she tried to free herself from the hanyou’s grasp “this may have just been a horrible accident. The well caught in the cross fire of two youkai fighting”
Shippo watched sadly from the houshi’s shoulder “but the well has been broken before and has still worked, so shouldn’t it still work this time?”
Inuyasha was kneeling on the ground now after catching the girl when she had suddenly passed out. He looked emotionlessly where the well stood “it’s hard to say, this is the worst the well as ever been wrecked”
“We’ll have to fix it and then have Kagome see if it works” the monk spoke, but his look said that he did not think it would.
“Come on, let’s get her back to Kaede’s” ordered the hanyou as he carried the young woman in his arms.
