Chapter 2

            “Kagome! Hey my favorite girl how have you been doing?” Miroku said with so much excitement that Kagome almost smiled.

            “Well, not so good,” Kagome said, “Do you still have a pole open for me?”

            “I thought you were done Kags? What happened?” Miroku asked with true concern, he was not only her boss but he had also been her friend.

            “It’s a long story,” she said feeling the tears start to stream down her cheeks.

            “Why don’t you come over and we’ll talk?”

            “At your work or home?”

“Work.”

“Okay, but I have to be back here by 5.”

“OK see you in a bit.”

“K,” she said closing the phone and grabbing her keys and purse.

As she walked out the door she saw Inuyasha and some girl sitting on the couch. She was hanging all over him and her voice grated on Kagome’s nerves.

“Hey Kagome I want to introduce you to my girlfriend, Kikyo. Kikyo this is Kagome my new roommate.”

Kagome said hi and walked over extending her hand to Kikyo. She glared at it but took it then plastered on a fake smile on. This bitch better not try to take my Inuyasha. Kikyo thought giving Kagome the once over. Kagome felt a chill run down her spine, what is wrong this girl? Does she think I am going to take her boyfriend from her.

“It’s nice to meet you Kikyo. Well I gotta go I have a very important meeting.”

Kagome winked trying to make Kikyo think that she meant that she was going to see a boyfriend and maybe put the girl at ease. She noticed Kikyo visibly relax, and turned to leave. “I hope to see you again Kikyo, it was nice to meet you,” she said as she walked out the door.

            “I see, well, I am so sorry to hear about all of this,” Miroku said as he hugged Kagome. She was one of his best friends and the sweetest person he ever knew, it was hard to believe that such an innocent and sweet person could have so many horrible things happen. He thought it was unfair when her mother and brother had died in a car accident two years ago, but now she had lost everything else that she had left.

            “So can I have my job back, I really need it?” Kagome asked tears still glistening in her eyes.

            “Of course you can. You were always my best girl and I’m sure the customers will all be so excited that the queen of Sway will be back,” he said smiling. He had always called her the queen of Sway because she was the best girl he ever had. She had made him more money than all of his other girls put together. When he had first opened Sway he had never imagined making so much of a profit in his first year. As soon as Kagome started his club hit it big.

            “When can I start?” she asked shaking him from his thoughts.

            “You can start tonight if you want. Just come by at 9. I’m sure the other girls will be glad to see you especially Sango and Rin. If you want to start tonight that is,” he said looking at her hopefully.

            “That would be great. I need to start making money as soon as possible,” she said giving him a smile, “ but I have to get back now, I need to make my roommates dinner and discuss the little nanny issue. I also have to pick up another load from the shrine. I will see you tonight, thank you so much, you really are a great friend.”

            As she stood up to leave she felt a hand on her but and almost laughed. Some things never change, “Move it or lose it,” she said pinning him with a playful glare.

            Miroku blushed and laughed moving his hand from her rear. “So do you want me to tell the other girls or are you going to try to surprise them, because you know I’m going to have to put signs in front announcing the return of Sapphire?” he said as he walked to the door with her.

            “Let me try to surprise them,” she said with a big smile just thinking about seeing her friends again. She hugged Miroku one last time, she could already see that old glimmer in his violet eyes as he thought about what her return would mean for business.

            Miroku wanted to jump and cheer as loud as he could, he felt like he was going to burst because he was so excited. Sapphire was coming back and soon he would be raking in the money. The club was still doing good but with her his profits would more than triple. He felt bad about the circumstances in which she had to return, but he was still ecstatic to have her back. He set straight to work making the signs to announce Sapphire’s big return, then he called all of his VIP’s to tell them. He started to plan her grand return. She would do her show and then maybe he could talk her into going to the VIP section to see all of the best clients and maybe give them a private show. He continued to run plans through his head as his staff prepared to open.

            Kagome went to the shrine to load her car with the next load and then she went to the grocery store to get the ingredients she needed to make dinner. She still felt nervous and upset about the job situation, but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. She tried to calm her frazzled nerves on the way back to her new home, she knew it she only looked calm on the outside that her roommates who were a demon and a half demon would be able to smell it on her anyway. She went through all of her breathing exercises and finally managed to calm down completely just as she pulled into the driveway.

            She unloaded the groceries first so she could put everything away and then set to the task of unloading the boxes from her car. As she was grabbing boxes Shippo and Rin came out and offered to help. She gave each of them one of the lighter boxes to carry and watched them make their way inside. She smiled to herself at the adorable picture they made then turned to pick her box up and head in after them. Luckily she had most of the stuff put in storage, but she still had some heavy lifting to do. She could swear her television weighed a ton. She almost dropped it twice before she ever made it halfway to the door. Then for some reason the TV got lighter and was lifted completely from her hands.

            “Woman, why did you not just ask for assistance instead of trying to kill yourself by lifting this on your own?” she heard an emotionless deep baritone voice ask her. She knew it was Sesshomaru by the voice alone. He turned slightly so she could see him and his face was just as stoic as ever.

            “I didn’t know anyone was here except Inuyasha and the kids and I figured Inuyasha was probably busy since I didn’t see him when I brought in the groceries,” Kagome replied, trying to avoid blushing. Sesshomaru was the hottest man she had ever seen, he was like a god. She managed to keep her whole body in check using years of training to control her heart rate and every other part of her.

            “Hn,” he said and headed toward the house.

            Kagome quickly gathered some boxes and followed him in. Sesshomaru and Inuyasha helped her with the rest of the unloading and then she took a quick shower before starting dinner. She slipped on a pair of hip hugger pants and a black tank top, then threw her hair up in a messy bun and headed downstairs.

            “Hey Sesshomaru,” Inuyasha called as he entered the room.

            Sesshomaru stopped and rubbed his temples. For some reason the hanyou always gave him a headache. They were finally past the most of the hatred for each other, but that didn’t mean they didn’t get on each others nerves. “What is it half-breed?”

            Inuyasha ignored the comment by now he was used to it, “Miroku just called, he said that we are invited to some VIP get together tonight at Sway because Sapphire, the queen of Sway as he calls her is back.”

            “I do not recall him ever having a dancer named Sapphire.”

            “Well apparently we always missed her and she quit a few months ago, but now she’s back,” Inuyasha replied, “Either way he seemed pretty excited about her coming back, she must be good.”

            “She’s probably just another one of those mediocre girls that tried to make it in Hollywood and failed,” Sesshomaru said turning from his brother.

            “Well, do you want me to call him and tell him we’re coming or not?”

            “And who, pray tell will watch the children?” Sesshomaru asked looking straight at his brother this time.

            “I can ask our new roomie,” Inuyasha replied.

            “Go ahead and do that then we shall see about attending this VIP get together.”

            Inuyasha nervously walked into the kitchen, she had nearly flipped earlier when he told her about watching the kids, how could he ask her without offending her? As he turned the corner he froze. She was bent down pulling something out of the over and he had a perfect view of her luscious backside. Then he felt a hard smack on the back of his head nearly knocking him down.

            “Can you not be more discreet with your ogling?” a calm smooth baritone whispered in his ear.

            Inuyasha turned to face Sesshomaru, “Fuck off.”

            “It is rude and unbecoming, besides don’t you have a girlfriend?”

            Inuyasha looked down at that and grumbled something that even Sesshomaru couldn’t make out. Sesshomaru had to admit for a human the girl was beautiful, but he would never get caught ogling her like a fool. Her smell was also unusually sweet for a human, like sakura blossoms and vanilla. He had to admit he found her a bit odd, something about her aura was different from any human he had ever encountered. He would have to look into it. With that he turned and left the room so Inuyasha could ask her about watching the kids.

            As soon as Sesshomaru left Inuyasha took a deep breath and walked up to Kagome. “Hey, Kagome is there any way you could watch the kids tonight?” he asked holding his breath waiting for her to blow up.

            “We will have to discuss that issue still but for now what time tonight are we talking?”

            Inuyasha let out his breath surprised by her reaction but also glad that she didn’t smack the shit out of him. “It would be later tonight like from 8-2.”

            “Can’t, I work night shifts.”

            “Ok,” he said a little disappointed as he walked out of the room. He really wanted to see this dancer that Miroku was so excited about. He walked into the study to inform Sesshomaru, but by the look on his face he already knew.

            “We will find a babysitter and go another night little brother,” he calmly said, “Go ahead and call Miroku and inform him that we must decline for now.”

            Inuyasha nodded and went to call Miroku. As he was on the phone with him he heard someone knock on the door and Shippo yell that he would get it.

            Shippo opened the door and smiled, “Hi Kouga.”

            “Hey runt, where’s the mutt-face?”

            “He’s on the phone right now, come on in.”

            Kouga walked in and looked around, his ice blue eyes scanning the room. Then he smelled it. It was the most beautiful scent he had ever smelled, and it was coming from the kitchen. He walked toward the kitchen with only one thought in mind, he had to find out where that scent was coming from. Needless to say he was very surprised when he turned the corner and saw the most gorgeous woman he had ever encountered. Shippo ran past him and grabbed the girls arm to get her attention. She looked up at Kouga and his breath caught in his throat, she had the most beautiful sapphire eyes he had ever seen.

            “Oh, hi,” she said when she noticed him, “Are you a friend of the guys?” she asked.

            “Yeah in a sense, names Kouga,” he said sticking out his hand, “and who might you be?”

            She took his hand cautiously, “Kagome, I’m the new roommate/cook,” she said giving him a dazzling smile.

            So she wasn’t with either of them, meaning she’s available, he thought as he held her hand. He grinned at her showing his fangs, “Well it is very nice to meet you Kagome. Do you want to go out sometime?”

            Kagome was getting an odd vibe off him and it made her very uncomfortable. He looked like a decent enough man, but her senses were warning her away. She smiled again and extracted her hand from his, “I’m sorry but I don’t think so,” she politely said as she slowly moved away from him.

            Kouga moved towards her until she was backed against a counter, he put an arm on each side of her boxing her in. “Aww come on. I won’t bite, unless you want me to,” he said with a mischievous grin.

            “I suggest you back up and let me move,” Kagome said in a cold but deadly voice.

            “Or what,” he said moving his face closer to her.
